I just hate all the pharmaceutical ads.  Whenever I see one, all I can think is "Why don't you put that money into research?"  And I imagine all the people who have those conditions bombarding their caregivers with requests to prescribe the drug.  Pimping drugs to patients just seems wrong.

I have a story about that, I've shared it on these boards before but it's been a few years. I'll take it to Small Talk.

LOL the O'zempic ad featuring the dude from "James Main Street Music."  Can they not find somebody who actually knows one or two chords to pretend to be a musician?  Yeah right this guy is a luthier!  Looks like he's never held a guitar in his life!  😂 And why do all these stupid drug ads have these old guys playing in bands anyway?  That and wood-working.  How bout showing some oldsters sitting at casino machines or just sitting in a chair in their house asleep with the news on?  lol...

and btw I'm 53, so pretty much and oldster myself.

You just reminded me of those commercials advertising oxygen machine. The lighter smaller and easier to carry ones being better and showing people using that out and about living their lives while those using the old heavier ones which meant they couldn't ever leave the house. My mom used the old ones and still manage to drive herself to casinos in our state with zero problems and travel to Vegas once a year with zero problems. Casinos are packed with similar people using the same ones with zero problem. They didn't slow anyone down.

Judging by the pharma ads, life in America is a never-ending concert in a park featuring some weird band with electric guitar, standup bass, sax, and drums.  Everyone, kids included, brings a blanket and sits on the ground and enjoys the music with their arms waving in the air while eating a picnic lunch...all thanks to meds.

Meds are the only way I'd enjoy that.

Okay, this commercial does not enrage me and I fully brought it on myself by binging on ID channel, but dang it - I do not need to hear Puppy Bowl referee Dan anymore.  And the song!  "L -O-V-E!!!"  Yes I am headed to hell for being annoyed by PUPPIES.  RESCUE PUPPIES at that!!!

If anyone thinks rolling a rock on your face will make you beautiful I have a bridge to sell you in Brooklyn.

Nobody is going to use that vibrating rock on their face. And I’m sure the company knows it.

Ooooh. Now I get it.
Do I get points for calling it as plastic or glass and not stone?

Even aside from the needless and stupid put-down of cats, there is nothing remotely amusing about this ad.

That bride should listen to the way the groom is talking to the cat and RUN. He is abusive, and she's next.

OK, GEICO, having Pinocchio be a Motivational Speaker Fail was a cute one-shot idea, but so far we've seen him heading for a blind date and getting a traffic ticket (with the words 'to be continued' onscreen). Sorry, but ONE Flo has  already too been much and it won't be very long before you all run out of tasteful ways to depict his affliction (and he's NO Energizer Bunny). The Gecko and even The Cavemen were better than this fairy tale character so drop it and enough already!

I haven’t actually seen the ad in question, but I’m pretty sure that “talent is equally distributed” doesn’t mean that everyone is equally talented at any given skill, but that someone can be talented at something, even if they’re not in the group that’s traditionally expected to be talented in that skill.

Wow, that’s really working hard at verbal gymnastics to make the message say something it’s not.

Actually watch the ad. He says talent is equally distributed  but opportunity is not. Your interpretation is an interesting take, but is not related to anything he says.

Its simply an excuse for people who do not succeed. It’s insulting to those who do.

Oh, but have you seen the online date he goes on? Explaining why he doesn’t look like his profile photo? It’s kind of funny.

My main issue with these "final expenses" commercials is that they make it seem like the children are responsible for their dead parent's debt other than funeral expenses.  Unless I'm missing something, they aren't responsible unless they co-signed.

If their parents leave anything of value to the kids--house, car, grandma's diamond ring--any debt has to be paid off before kids can just have that stuff.

I understand that, but if they don't want it, then they're not responsible.  I was thinking more about credit card debt.

Have you all seen the Trojan train commercial yet?

Take a real good look at the engine, it appears to be penis shaped.

That man in the Trojanman commercials is so gross looking! I always feel like I have to take a shower after watching them.

I don't follow your reasoning, SG11.  I happen to agree with the statement that talent is equally distributed but opportunity is not.  Lori Loughlin is a prime example of someone who took away the opportunities others might have had by using her wealth to ensure her daughters ("Instagram influencers"?)  would gain entry to USC.  I know a woman who cheated on an exam and got a full ride, four-year scholarship to another university.  This took away another opportunity someone else might have had.  You might look at the woman I knew and judge her successful because she got her degree more quickly than I, but personally I could not live with the guilt of cheating on an exam as she did.  "Success" is in the eye of the beholder.  If one enjoys one's vocation and contributes some measure of good for society, I consider that success.

Cremated and ashes sprinkled into Puget Sound. All their friends are dead and I;m the only family they have. Besides, they always thought funerals were a waste of money.

I'm not having a funeral, unless my nephew wants to throw one for me and pays for it himself and my cremation is already paid for, so I'm good to go!  I owe $100 on my Home Equity Loan and this month is the first month I'm not paying off the credit card in full, because I have to wait for an insurance check to pay for my flooded condo rehab. Usually, it's paid in full the day my Social Security check comes in. No other debt. By the time I kick off, I'll probably have a reverse mortgage, so Alex will inherit just the contents, not the condo itself.

So there, Final Expense Insurance ad!

I hate the ads for "Say Yes to the Dress America" with Randy dressed up like Porter Wagoner on the Fourth of July. It looks like a mass wedding performed by the Rev. Sun Myung Moon.

Well, I gather that  it kinda is. A mass wedding  performed by  Rev. Randy.

Who the hell  thought that this was a good idea?

The acting in this commercial is so awful.

There are a couple more companies selling this kind of insurance and every one of them features the absolutely worst senior actors on the planet. The talent pool must be awfully shallow.

I despise the Unstoppable commercial with the older woman with the slicked back pale blond hair who goes into ecstasy at the fresh scent.  Weird new age music too.

I don't like that one, but I do find it interesting in a weird German expressionist kind of way.  But it sure as hell wouldn't make me buy the product.

The commercial for Peyronie's disease is absolutely Bs. The medication is at best only 30%effective  and is given by injection in a series for a cost of 48,000.00. Yeah that's right! 48, thousand. With lots of possible side effects. What a scam! False hope  for those affected.

That's probably mentioned in all the tiny print at the bottom of the screen.  Of course you'd go blind trying to read it.

My dad has some mobility problems, but that was due to the COPD, not the oxygen tank.  Mom just put extra ones in the car when they went somewhere.

It varies from state to state, and depends on the type of debt, too.

I don't hate the new Amazon 2-hour grocery delivery commercials, but I do tell them that I can go to the store, get what I need and be back in a half hour, every single time I see one.  (I live close to a Walmart and a Food Lion, so I'd never order groceries from Amazon.)

My father donated his body to science.  We scattered his ashes.  No funeral costs at all.  And just a small memorial service which cost almost nothing due to his membership in the American Legion where it was held.  My mother's planning on doing the same thing.

Definitely.  I love cats.  But, they totally have minds of their own.  Actually I think that's why I love them.  And sometimes, just sometimes mind you, it does seem like they're out to play pranks on you.  I actually think the commercial is hilarious.  But, nope, totally not trading in my cat for a dog.

I like dogs very much but I like it better when other people have them They need too much work. Cats pretty much take care of themselves.

My daughter and SIL got married on a beach and their rings were flown in by a parrot.  (But he didn't have the real rings, just in case he took off for the jungle.)  It was a fun surprise for the guests.

As a disabled person, I wouldn’t be able to give a dog the proper exercise(if I had my own house with a fenced back yard, that would be different).

Care.com

Possibly the most annoying child amongst a baziilion annoying children in ads.

"Am I cute?  I mean, I think I'm cute."

No you're not.

"You see these dimples?" No, because you don't have any. You'd at least think the idiots who write this shit would take a look at the kid they're writing for.

Regarding the Milk bone commercial about dogs are so much better than cats. I second the Original posters "Go Phuck Yourself milk bone."

Is the Milk bone company (whoever the phuck owns milkbone) that desperate for customers that they have to try to convince folks that dogs are better than cats?

If they were smart, they'd branch out into cat treats. All they're doing is pissing people off people who could be potential customers.
