Iris, Liz, Miss Evers and James March are the best ones to watch. I could do without the rest of the characters.

I am glad Finn and his accent are gone. Both of his characters felt like a waste to me. He was a plot point and nothing more.

Iris and Liz were amazing this episode.  Their last scene is going to be so GIF-able.

Mare is a gem as Miss Evers.  'Nuff said!

Donovan dancing to Hotline Bling was the final nail in the coffin for the love I had for that song.

I guess Ramona is going to have even more problems than she did before if she feeds off of those already mutated sick children.  Did Iris and John know she was in there? If not, I guess they just expected the kids to die off like the one girl did at the house.

I was strangely happy to see Alex, John and their son walk away from the hotel but I suppose something will end up dragging them back so Sally can exact her revenge or at least try to.

So many "she's getting revenge."  Liz got revenge on the Countess. Iris got revenge on Donovan and the Countess. The Countess got revenge on Valentino's lover.  I'm hoping if Iris and Liz take over the hotel they finally let Ramona out but with this show I doubt that will happen.

Finally:  Sally thinking Alex would care if she knew her husband was a serial killer while she's busy giving blood of slain people to The Countess, herself and her son is kind of ridiculous.

.

Agreed! I was pretty happy the bad Italian accent is done with! The Valentino stuff was a non story to me.

I loved Miss Evers tonight.(as usual)  Her glee both times at getting the detergent and the big ass washer was the BEST!

It was so funny the way she ran over to Liz to get the detergent and then her giggling at the washer made me crack up. Oh and she called Liz, Queen of the Nile!  :)

Ramona maxed out her screen time last week I guess because hardly any of her tonight, but she sure makes good use of the lines she's given, "mama smells appetizers."

"What kind of "acting" is  GaGa was doing?".... I said to myself in that scene where she's talking to the detectives about Will being missing? First I was saying, holy crap, this is so bad.  Then I guess it was "supposed to be like that" because it was an act? So, she was kind of acting bad at acting bad.

What I thought really sounded bad was that crying scene when she found Valentino is a pool of blood. Was that her crying? It sounded awful. Was it ADR'd? It just didn't sound like it was coming from her. Cringy.

There's an occasional glimmer of decent acting in some of her scenes, then it kind of goes away. Like in some instances where she was confronting Will about killing Valentino, I saw a few good moments that worked, but overall, I just don't know.

That last scene of hers is the first time this season where I actual pictured Jessica Lange killing it.

That was a weird back and forth almost sex scene with Sally and John.

OMG- John and Alex finally acknowledged poor forgotten little Scarlett and how crappy parents there were.  To quote John- "We're the worlds worst parents." Why yes you are sir.

Donovan dancing to Hotline Bling was the final nail in the coffin for the love I had for that song

.

Donovan is no great dancer, too bad Matt didn't use any of his Magic Mike moves, now that would have been more fun to watch!  :)

Hell yeah, Liz and Iris!

The minute Liz's Douglas admitted he knew who Liz was I thought she was a goner (this episode).

So, in Murder House couldn't someone just decide not see any one of the ghosts anymore and they essentially ceased to exist for that person? (Could anyone do that, or only other ghosts?) Does no one in this Hotel know this trick?

Agreed, and I feel like this about most of the characters on this show as well, wasted, not much to do before they're killed off.

I really liked this one. Then again I really liked this season as a whole. I liked The Countess and Donavan dispatching what's her face and Valintino with guns when they brought knives and swords. That was just funny.

Plus the Liz scenes with her son were well done as well. Liz may still be human but she is as frozen in time as the vampires and ghosts in the Cortez. She has never been able to move on and heal. Seeing her son again has allowed her to do both.

I am not sure what to make of the John/Alex/Sally stuff. I love John and Sally so when John was with Alex I knew shit was going to go bad fast. Its going to at least be interesting.

I loved the scenes wit Miss Evers geeking over modern cleaning supplies.

This episode was much better for me, as it centered around a competent actor (Liz) and not Gaga.  I thought the scenes with the son were touching.  My dvr cut out right at Hotline Bling...can anyone tell me what happened?

Yes , why is it that FX can't finish on schedule, or is this just a DirectTV glitch?

FX gives their show runners carte blanche as long as the ratings are strong. AHS, Fargo, and The Americans tend to go 5 to 15 minutes longer. Sons of Anarchy would go 30 to 45 minutes long. Its final season was brutal because every episode was an hour longer than expected.

Which is why I set my DVR 15 minutes over for all my season pass shows (but my cable had it as 1 hr 15 anyway) . Sons of Anarchy was the only one that was ridiculous. 5-10 minutes over is not unheard of on non broadcast shows.

"Did you come inside her, or did you shoot on her tits like you do with me?" This has to be the worst line I've ever heard on television. Is one of the writers a reject from pornos?

Until Lochlan reaches his majority? Who talks like this in 21st century America?

I think Gaga hit rock bottom in her scene with the police. Her acting was especially wooden, and she was sort of hunched like an elderly woman. I couldn't figure out if they were going for a Marlena Dietrich look, and then that made me think of Jessica Lange, which made Gaga's performance that much worse.

I thought John's reunion with Holden was moving, but when the camera zoomed into the back of Holden's head, he looked like the hunchback from Rocky Horror Picture Show.

The definition of irony; the Countess has to deal with the two annoying husbands she murdered/had murdered but the guy she actually loved had to get himself killed outside the Cortez and she will never see him again.

The octogenarian couple checked in and committed a mutual suicide; ( really, they had to blow each other's brains out?) that was interesting because they seemed normal, " good" people who invited death. Other than the construction workers who get offed on a regular basis, they are practically the only innocents attracted to the Cortez.

Well, we had the lonely school teacher who killed herself in the tub; but it seems there could be a possible link that the Hotel attracts those with a subconscious death wish, as well as the scum who deserve to die.

As to Ramona and the pack of vampire children, I would think that in tandem they could overwhelm her by sheer numbers.

I do think that Gaga in the police interview for her missing husband was deliberately made up like grey suited Kim Novak in "Vertigo

I think one of the problems with Gaga's acting is that she seems to have no chemistry whatsoever with her male leads.  We have been told over and over again about how beautiful and alluring she is (she even makes gay men straight), but the scenes always fall flat.  We even have her serial killer first husband forgiving her for turning her in because she is so beautiful?  I know they might have been "glamoured", but this is never explained.

Also, Valentino feel madly in love with her before she was a vampire, so no "glamoring" involved there.

I think she did have some chemistry in her scenes with Ramona, but I think a dead horse would have chemistry with Angela Basset

Hmmmm interesting. My DVR which is Xfinity X1 always records the show's until they end. For example this one was 1 hr and 18 min. As long as I set it to record the show itself and not just by the time, it always records the whole thing. The only exception is if the show starts late due to live sports, because then the guide has not been updated. Are there some DVR that only work based on time settings and do not record the whole show based on the length listed in the on screen guide?

I'm not so sure Sally's wrong about that. It would be extremely hypocritical of course, but I don't see that as out of character for Alex. She probably rationalizes killing innocent people for their blood as necessary for special snowflake Holden's good health, whereas John doesn't actually need to murder people in order to survive.

Well that ending was awesome. But I am going to be furious if somehow the Countess managed to escape the carnage. (Donovan can live though.)

The scenes between Liz and her son were so well done that at first when the son admitted he knew along she was his father I thought it was going to be a setup and the son was going to take out a gun and blow her brains out. So that was all very pleasantly surprising.

I agree with whoever upthread posted that it sounded like Lady GaGa's "screams" were dubbed by another actress in the scene where she found Valentino's body in the hotel.

This episode did raise some odd questions though. I don't know why the little girl who  refused to feed was dying. The show has already established that the vampires don't die if they don't feed, they just age. Valentino and his wife were trapped in that hallway for a hundred years. They may have had the occasional rat for sustenance but no way in hell that was a daily meal for them. So why was the kid dying? And won't they just age and live off rats like Valentino and the Mrs. did trapped in there?

For that matter, how did Alex even know about this hallway, and did she know Ramona was in there?

It also seems like only people with "unfinished business" remain trapped in the hotel if they die there, as Iris seemed to be suggesting. I'm not sure what kind of unfinished business Sally ever had though.\

The kid playing the ringleader of the vampire tots also plays Peter Pan in that annoying Geico commercial. Yeesh.

I liked this episode. Am I a bad person for being glad the killer children have been dealt with? Well, so far, who knows with this show.

No, you're not. I felt the same way. The infected kids subplot did little for me. Although I'm thinking that those kids will infect Ramona, once she's killed all of them.

She might be the catalyst.

I think because those kids were turned by the kid with measles, that if they do not feed they cannot heal their own measles and so they die from it. I seem to remember when the kids hadn't fed in a while you could see that they were being affected by measles, and that it seemed to go away immediately after feeding.

Anyone else annoyed that they just wasted a 10 commandments murder?

Now that we know for sure that John is the 10 commandments killer I assumed the last couple murders might actually have some weight, instead he just kills some faceless cultists.

I get that it makes sense that he needs to kill randoms to avoid detection, but it just makes the murders boring and lifeless. There are also so many people we curently know in the show who would fit the criteria of "Thou shalt have no other gods before me"

Oh well, most of this season has been boring and lifeless, i guess there's no reason to change anything now.

Wow this was a great episode, except for Lady Gaga's awful acting in the police scene. Yikes! Do they hand out Razzie Awards for television shows? If so, she definitely deserves one for that scene alone!

Loved Liz's reunion with her son. It was so unexpectedly poignant and Denis O'Hare really sold the emotions well. Iris' tribute video was great and funny especially with the "I Hope You Dance" song.

Loved Ms. Evers and her joy at receiving the detergent and washer/dryer.

The last scene was also hilarious and well-done. Loved the "Hotline Bling" dance by Donovan. Didn't think they would put such a current hit song on the show. Liz and Iris' shoot out was also really unexpected and well-done. I literally laughed out loud when it happened. Let's hope the Countess is dead for good.

Liz and Iris are my favorites now and I hope they go on to take over the hotel and turn it into an inspirational place full of sunshine and rainbows like in Iris's video.

I thought Gaga was supposed to be acting poorly with the police. The Countess was pretending to be upset that her husband was "missing," knowing he had been killed. I actually liked that scene, it felt like bad acting in a 40s noir. Nostalgic.

God.  No wonder I hate him.

I just remembered my one nitpick.  If you die in the hotel with unfinished business you are stuck there.  Ummm...maybe walk across the street to kill yourself then?  I was initially really annoyed by that but then it gave us the scenes of Liz with her son, so I guess I can forgive that major plot hole.

decent episode, at least we got to see Finn Witlock's abs again before Donovan blew his face off

But this episode was owned by Liz Taylor.

BTW am I the only one who noticed that one of the Vamp Kids was played by the same actor who plays Peter Pan in the Geico commercial? Not that they're s anything wrong with it he's a pretty good actor (btw, that's really him singing "you make me feel so young" at the end of the commercial so he's also got a decent voice, too bad Glee's over with)

They're s what, 3 or 4 episodes left for this season? They've got quite a bit to wrap up before the show end but then again that's pretty much the norm for AHS.

This season has some  uncomfortables  scenes, but nothing like Donovan dancing that  song. I loved his other  scenes,  though. I wonder what would have happened between him and the Countess if Iris and  Liz hadn't  arrived with their guns. I'm afraid he'll die and she'll survive, which is a shame  imo.

John Lowe's still boring.

Liz is wonderful and her scenes with her son were a thing of beauty.  Both actors did a great job.

She's just such a joy! Her burbling delight: "Oxygen IN  the soap!" and quavery chirpings make me wish she and Kathy Bates had their own show.

Well, at least Alex and John acknowledge they are the worst, most despicable parents ever. I especially love how they just assume "the grandparents"--I don't even know whose parents they are, Alex or John's--would be delighted to just become Scarlett's guardians and raise her. I assume they've stopped by the bare minimum to lie about how "this is a difficult time" and that soon everything will be straightened out, but now that they've become the Addams Family 2.0 are they going to go pick her up or what? Just leave her there?  I hope this season wraps with Scarlet in the hotel to the ground.

Still holding out hope for Alex having, for self-preservation reasons, to cure the kids of their hybrid virus and that ending up curing everybody so they're all stuck as boring old humans again, but it's dwindling. She's clearly down with them just starving/dying of the measles in there. Which I don't get because I honestly don't know if she knows Elizabeth has closed circuit TV cameras in the vault. Ugh, the stupid is a flat circle with this plotline.

I've decided that if you're a vampire and die in the Cortez, you don't come back/aren't trapped there, because apparently not only Tristan but Valentino's Wife Person have both died there and not been heard from. That or Murphy just can't be bothered with the tiniest bit of continuity, but that can't be true!

There are two possibilities. One is that Tristan didn't have unfinished business. The show has mentioned the concept of "unfinished business" in relationship to trapped spirits several times which is why Liz wanted to contact her son so when she suicided she didn't come back. The old couple who suicide packed would have long ago finished any old business so I doubt they will be back. Tristan had no unfinished business because he found love and acceptance from Liz.

The 2nd possibility is that the virus and those who have it don't come back because they are already gone; because there is nothing left to come back. This option works for Valintino's wife because I think she would have unfinished business or maybe not.

Either option or maybe both do actually work for me.

That ending was great.  I never saw it coming and loved it;  I didn't really expect the show to do much with Denis O'Hare or Kathy Bates.  I was pretty sure they would sit on the side as peripheral characters, but it was good to be wrong.

This would have made a great season finale, since most of the story seems to have wrapped up.  I wonder and worry about what is in store.

I would too if the 10CK actually mattered at this point, too bad it fizzled out quickly, especially after the predictable reveal and then him just leaving with his dumbass wife.  I guess that's also the problem with the kills, no one seems to care at all.  Some pointless randoms and some unlikeable people get killed off here and there.

Why did Liz not tell her son to RUN. Leave. Go. I hope Gaga or whoever doesn't kill him just to keep Liz bound to the hotel.

I was thinking the exact same thing! Tell him to leave ASAP! Forget about the luggage! Just go!

I wondered if that was "Peter Pan." Every time I see that ad, I want someone to beat the snot out of Peter! :-D

So I thought Gaga's acting in the last scene was really good. Am I crazy? Is it just that she's only good at playing "mental breakdown"? I dunno, but yeah, and it makes me think maybe she's not as bad as she seems in other scenes. Unless some of it is shot way before other parts and she took a bunch of acting classes, or something. I dunno.

Very good episode. It's almost like they wrote these last couple recently enough to have directly addressed some common viewer criticism of earlier episodes. It feels like tying up loose ends, so maybe the showrunners figured out how to do that. And if they do it by numbers, that's at least better than not really bothering like in previous seasons/series.

See, now here I was thinking that scene clearly shows Bomer's dance training.  Takes a lot of classes to dance bad on purpose! :)

Denis O'Hare is crushing it!  Hope he gets an Emmy.

The less said about these new developments with John and Alex, the better.  I guess it's good writing though, because they surprised me that I was supposed to think of Sally as a bad influence on John.  I thought that was the point and the bad influence was actually good.
