Well now I have to watch it.

It's very good.  Typical pyramid scheme.  What interested me was the similarities to Scientology.  If things aren't working out it's YOUR fault.  And they encouraged other to sort of shun those who had the good sense to get out.  It is a kind of cult.  Even hubby was fascinated.

That similarity occurred to me, too.  Cults both intrigue me, and disgust me.  To shun others because they quit shilling?  Please.  How awful.

Another poster in Christine's thread wonders about how many "team" members Meri bullied into signing up, just to line her own pockets.  I wonder about that, too, and how many have gone bankrupt or otherwise ended up in debt, trying to unload LuLaNo.  I don't believe she'd feel a bit bad for anyone who's lost money.

She may pretend to be sorry that they thought that she took something that they thought was theirs.

Meri seems to work on her downline and sell her own inventory whereas Christine seems to have found a niche in salvaging others' inventories when they can't oar want to quit.  Both are vultures.

Don't tell me!  Is Meri now Hot Mama on a Harley?  First I've heard about a motorcycle, maybe it's a small scooter if she was able to get it in the car for delivery and pickup.  Very confusing post.

The rest is all corporate BS drilled into their heads at the damage control get-together last week.

Brainwashing at its finest.

I notice none of her hashtags reference any members of the family including her daughter.

I’ve owned 5 motorcycles (ninjas) and none of them could be brought in for service without a trailer or additional driver.

I wonder what she rides.

Someone asked in the comments when Meri got a motorcycle. She said she thinks it was 2009. Someone else asked to see a picture, and she said she’d have to dig one up. Ummmm, take a picture of it, duh!

Anyway, I can’t determine when this was taken but I was able to “dig one up”.

Notice it includes a wall…..

Random questions, and apologies in advance for revisiting a tired topic.

I know that Mariah (and others?) warned Meri about her catfish before the truth finally came out.  Does that mean Mariah knew that her mother was literally having an emotional/virtual affair and was hiding it from the family at Meri's behest?

I wasn't following Sister Wives during the catfish era.  Was Meri openly communicating with her catfish on social media?  If others were warning her, does that mean that she wasn't discreet online?

I honestly can’t recall when Mariah found out and if she realised how deep her mother was in. From what we do know about Mariah’s character, I think it’s safe to say she would never ever have accepted the fact that her mother was having a (virtual) affair and have kept it a secret to protect her. The whole catfish thing actually ripped their relationship further apart up to a point where it was impossible to repair….

As for Meri not being discreet…. Well, I don’t think she knows what that word means in general. Meri obviously felt secure enough to share lots of feelings, silly pictures and thoughts with “Sam” which is plain stupid of course if you’ve never even met. And (s)he then went public with it. Which is what every celebrity hates, even z-listers…

Mariah was home from school that summer when the catfish & Meri were hot and heavy.  It wouldn't be too much of a stretch to picture Mariah knowing that Meri was WAY involved with a "friend from twitter" through her phone texting and phone calls.  I would guess that Mariah knew that it was "weird" for her mum to be so forward with an online guy. Being a younger more tech savvy college student she would be more aware and on camera she stated that she told Meri that "people can be fake online, you can get tricked online", and Meri blew her off.

As to knowing of the sexual aspect of the whole thing.  I highly doubt that Meri was having sexually explicit phone calls in the open or posing for her suggestive selfies where Mariah may have caught her. So maybe Mariah didn't know the full story of how deep Meri was until all the voicemails and photos etc started to flood the internet.

Meri was openly flirting with the "batman" profile on twitter and at that time a lot of people were discussing it online as well as contacting her to tell her.  She was in deep and didn't see the whole truth for 6 months or so.  When discussing it on the show she paints the picture as if she had doubts throughout the whole time, yet in real time she didn't break things off when people were telling her about "batman" being fake.  We will never get the whole truth of the matter or the timeline because Meri is sticking with her chosen storyline like old fashioned wall paper paste.

They are nice photos of the ocean and the trees Meri posted and I do like the description of how we can unwind around nature and refuel our energy. I need to do it more, however, I don’t feel the need to constantly tell myself in print how valuable I am or how much I love myself….isn’t that a given?  I guess not. I presume Meri and others struggle with that.  And that’s why we need those signs around the house that remind us to Live Laugh and Love. 😍  Wouldn’t it be better to let others post about how great and wonderful you are? 😝

In full disclosure, I do have some of the decor that’s has Thankful on it.  I got it for my fall/ Thanksgiving decorating.  It was hard to resist. Lol.   I suppose that I’m more grateful for what I have than proud of what I’ve done.

I binged the documentary last night, quite fascinating, and yes, I also see signs like that of Leah Remini's docuseries on Scientology. At one point they had so many people selling their shit and not enough people buying it. The one lady almost looked scared to say too much, then of course you have the die-hard saying how she was able to buy a house with a pool, yes a pool!  Please forgive me if this comes across wrong, but are most of these MLM type business's started by Mormons?

Not to be offensive either, but I've heard it said by someone that used to be Mormon that MLM should stand for Mormons Losing Money.

As an aside, I saw on a news program that many of the unsold clothes that the US donates to Ghana are clogging their landfills.  I just bet a sizable percentage of those are LuLaCrap, and won't rot for centuries, because it's cheap, cheap, cheap polyester.

They probably haven’t seen that comment yet. Meri will either have a snide remark or she’ll delete it.

LIV was mentioned. Meri’s friend Jen answered a question about what Meri’s drink was.

I don’t think it’s offensive; you just noticed thata lot of these businesses seem to have some affiliation to Mormons. And it makes sense: MLM thrives in social networks or other ‘tights’-knit communities. So buying from another mormon is highly encouraged as it benefits your fellow- mormon and keeps the strangers out. And it keeps mum at home where she can run her own business and look after the family, which is a fairly big thing for Mormons too I think.

I am going to be brutally honest... from an outside perspective looking in, and reading a whole lot about the Mormon religion, the religion itself primes the followers to fall easily into the MLM structure.  Naysayers are against you, if you aren't successful in your "business" you just aren't working hard enough, pitch to your close friends and family, your MLM group is your family and anyone who quits the MLM family is shunned and not to be trusted.

Watching the documentary about MLM just pings so many things that are also parts of the structure of both cults and religions.  Especially closed "shun the outside world" type religions. I forget who said it, but the quote of "you know you are in a cult based on how you are treated after you leave" is very true of religions and these MLM companies.

And as to the cross reference to $cientology, I remember watching an interview with Leah Remini and Larry King.  He told her that years ago he interviewed LRon and was flat out told that LRon studied the structure of the Mormon religion and used parts of it when forming his version.  I have a very hard time using the word "church" with $cientology...

Did Meri toss her claddagh ring and other Sisterwives joory into the beautiful ocean?

In the early years Janelle also referred to having worked for a company that sold mass quantities of canned rations in #10 cans.  This fits with Mormons having to keep a year's worth of food on hand. That is also why fresh vegetables look so foreign to Janelle.

And the Brown women and girls always wore two shirts for "modesty" - more modesty means having to buy more clothing than what non cult-members wear.

The whole Mormon MLM thing puzzles me though, because if Jane is selling LuLaNo to Susan, who is trying to sell Jane some Plexus in exchange for buying some LLN and then Sally comes along and says she'll buy their crap if they buy some Amway - how does anyone make any money?  It is a tight community but if every other person is selling something to everyone else, I don't see how it works without imploding.  And from what I have seen and listened to, the pressure on these women to sell their stuff to "friends and family" is intense.

True, but I was also thinking of the mainstream Mormons who get tangled up in MLMs. Kootie probably left the LDS church to avoid the 10% ("tax" in his mind)

Yeah that interaction sealed and cemented my thoughts on the complete bitchery of Meri.  She’s supposed to be a collective parent and part of the family and was completely oblivious about how selfish she was being. It was one of the grossest moments on the show…

Kody visits mariah after the fall out.  It’s filmed…mariah said she told Meri to stay away, during the whole relationship.  I get why Mariah was so pissed off at her for so long.  She saw her mom as complicit and not the victim. (Which is actually correct.)

Has Meri *finally* come to the realization Kody has no interest in rekindling anything with her? How many times does she have to hear “I have no spark for you” before she finally accepts it? Meri trying to push the “romance” last year was really awkward. Kody was visibly repulsed.

Even when Meri thought she was “in love” with fake Sam it was awkward. There’s nothing alluring about stompy, boring Meri Brown.
