The entire Catfishing debacle has been entertaining for several reasons- it is undeniably satisfying to see the Brown family exposed and their perfect, happy facade ruined. Like rubbernecking at an accident, it was hard to turn away from the disturbing nature of someone that would go to such extreme lengths to pretend they were someone they weren't, even in the face of hard evidence that proves without a shadow of a doubt who their true identidy is. However, looking at someone's arm with a name scratched into the skin, and borderline pornographic photos of someone's ( assumably Meri's) nipples protruding from their blouse, crosses over from harmlessly curious into macabre. I don't find it that difficult to believe that Meri was so needy and lonely that she would latch on to an attentive, complementary type person over the Internet. The depravity Jackie Overton has shown by continuing this fantasy world is so disturbing that it overshadows any enjoyment I got from he whole debacle. The end result has been sad, depressing, and leaves a bad taste in my mouth regarding the whole thing.

 

I agree, unless Overton inserted the creepier bits herself.  The letters may have been written by someone else and the arm with Sam's name in on it might not even be Meri's.  But if genuine, the rest of those photos and voicemails are more than enough to feel very sad for Meri.  I think it's despicable that Kodouche has tried to push forth this "we're all one big happy family" lie to the public while there is obviously a lot of hurt and pain going on among his wives all because they don't get enough love and attention from their husband.  In fact that makes me so angry I could spit.  It just confirms every negative thing we here were thinking and posting all along from day one with this series.  It really is true.  These women are oppressed and allowing themselves to be so because they are being brainwashed by religion to serve the needs of one selfish and self serving man.  It's sickening.

I am a webmaster.  Traceroute will give you the IP address of the webserver, not the person that owns the domain name and uploads content to it.  Further, if you have a website, you can send email directly from it, such that the email headers also look like they come from the same server.  It's not at all surprising that the website and her email trace to the same IP, and that IP is not that of her home device.

 

SWC and Jackie could be using the same large web host.  Have you xwhois'd their respective web hosts?

I have started to wonder about these things myself.   The sex tape claim made by "Sam" in particular is something Meri should have come out swinging over.  Why would she let this person keep saying these things about her?   "Sam" claims she committed full-blown adultery.  How can she let that slide? 

 

Originally I thought maybe Meri was not doing anything because she didn't want to draw attention to what she had been involved in.  But since it is going to be featured on the show, that reason no longer exists.  So if they don't take steps to shut this catfish person down once it's on the show, it is going to be very hard for me to understand why. 

 

I wonder if they will mention it and the pictures and voicemails from Meri on the show tonight, or if they will just stick with the "Meri got catfished" story, and ignore the nut ass things the catfish has been posting online for months now.  It's a big part of the story, but I would understand not wanting to encourage viewers to reward the Catfish with attention.  Especially if I were going to take action to shut it down.  There is no reason to publicize its existence.  Not unless they want people to know about it, that is.

I got to give it to her, Jackie knows how to craft a story.

There is a load of bulls in there but some details are interesting (at least to me!) and seem real.

Did we knew Kody melted his wedding band? I have a shite memory so I'm not sure it was adressed in previous seasons.

She told me the last straw for her was when he took the wedding band that she gave him during their wedding ceremony and melted it down. He told her he didn’t want it to be a contention point with the other wives, so he had it melted down and put into a piece of jewelry for another daughter, not her daughter. She said she is a sentimental person and when he did that, it showed her how much the marriage meant to him, which was nothing. She said it hurt her feelings because he could have given it back to her to hold onto for her daughter’s future husband or at least let her have it for keepsake. That was years ago she told me and she told me how upsetting it was for her. It really hurt.

 

If Kody really did that, he mastered the dick move! Not that we didn't already know that but the length of his dickness is astonishing.

Wow, that was quite a read. Sam's knickers must really be in a twist!

So he was basically in live blogging/rant mode for 10,000 words, going through the show scene by scene reacting, reminiscing, and trying to expose little cracks in Meri' story to shoot her down. And Meri's main offense: she used the word "bastard" which proves she knows he's a man. Also Meri's use of the plural "they" proves she is lying because at some other point she used a singular pronoun to describe who she was involved with.

And Sam wants us all to know that he is sure of the exact wording Meri used because his lawyers delivered to him a transcript of everything Meri said on the show. On a Sunday night, after ten pm. Because these lawyers have nothing better to do late on a Sunday night than see that this stupid show is transcribed and rushed to Sam. Seriously?

That was a really stupid lie to tell ... utterly transparent and completely unnecessary, furthering the story in no way at all. It's ironic that in the rush to show Meri is being dishonest, the only liar "Sam" managed to expose is himself.

That blog is just. Wow. I have three theories. 1. This person is flat out nuts and making up everything. (Sex 60 times, walks. I thought they never actually met.) 2. Yes...Jackie Overton is a horrible excuse for a human being and she has been catfishing women on the internet for years.  She would pretend to be Sam and then when Sam couldnt make a meeting he sent his 'assistant' Lindsey.  Jackie Overton played all the parts of this play.

 

I dont think we know for sure when or how Meri figured out Sam was full of shit because 'Sam' is the only one talking and he/she/it is a certifiable psychopath.

I know its completely crazy, but if I ran into that half-faced guy in the gray t-shirt pictured on Batman's blog,  it would take all my strength to resist the urge to kick him in the balls.

 

This poor guy has absolutely nothing to do with all this, I am sure. He would likely be horrified to learn his image had been appropriated by a psycho catfisher as part of some nefarious scheme.  But I have come to associate that gorgeous face with all this horrible behavior and I sorta hate that guy.

What's bizarre to me is how the catfisher keeps posting messages and photos and reactions on the blog as if any of what they've posted proves 1) they're a guy and 2) Meri had sex with him. When in fact, the only thing any of what they've posted so far proves is that she thought it was a guy and thought she was having an online affair with him. 

 

Someone asked the blogger to post either a photo of himself holding a paper with the date on it or a photo of them together and of course they said something vague about other photos were coming. 

 

They have to know by not responding to those (very simple) requests, they've outed themselves, so either they really are crazy or are damn stubborn to keep this up. At this point, since we all now she's been catfished, I have to assume the continued revealing of info/pics are just in order to humiliate and/or hurt her. 

 

That's sad to me. 

I've never been catfished, but I have in the past been in a vulnerable position with an online relationship situation, and it can be intense and painful and can make you feel incredibly weird because you have the "it wasn't real, it was just on the Internet" thing looming over you at all times. It can be very confusing and hurtful. I feel for her.

I hope she figures things out and doesn't get into any more situations where she has to beg someone to pay attention or not be mad at her. I also listened to a couple of voicemails (I didn't want to admit it but there it is) - two random ones from late March - where she tells "Sam" that she loves him in a very casual way, the way you might say it as you're signing off from talking to your spouse.  I have no clue how long they'd been talking by that point, but I didn't expect the "I love you" part.

 

All the photos taken by Sam/Jackie/Nutjob of the inside of Meri's house especially squicked me out.  That's crazy stalkerish behavior.

NEVER thought I would be sympathetic to anyone on this show and I originally posted on TWOP that Merri was secretly working on her exit strategy but my heart kinda goes out to Merri as she looks absolutely miserable. The writing is on the wall probably behind that beautiful wet bar that she needs to leave for her own sake. She needs to focus on getting a job and restarting her life. Maybe she needs to be deprogrammed from this misogynistic idealogy. The woman always loses in this lifestyle and even in the bible it never worked out (Sarah/Hagar, David). Forget about meeting someone online. She has to focus on figuring out her identity besides wife #1 which clearly is in date order only. Better restart now in her 40s than later and suffer more blantant disregard from your "celestial king". Could it have been a more colder reception when she confessed to her family?
