Sweet Fellowship: Duggars and Friends (aka the Bates Family and Other Featured Families Thread)

Message added by Scarlett45

If a person/family was never featured on any of the Duggar shows, and is not related to the Duggar family by blood or marriage, they do not need to be discussed here..

We may all agree that David Rodriques is quite unfortunate looking, but let's refrain from comparing human beings to apes, its got way too much of a loaded history- please review the new Inclusion Policy updated May 1, 2022 , which details guidelines around discussing body type, capabilities, physical appearance etc. Additionally, using body size as an insult is not allowed.

Wouldn't it just be cheaper to earn a pilot's license with a private instructor? It sounds like the majority of the program is just fluffy Bible courses which have absolutely nothing to do with operating an airplane. It looks like they charge $340 a credit hour. I'm not sure how much flying lessons cost though, so maybe I'm off.

From the blog

What do you do when you love someone SOOO deeply (whom you have never yet met) that your heart ACHES?!

What do you do when the concern for her little, damaged brain weighs SO heavy on your heart, your heart feels it is breaking and the tears run unchecked down your cheeks – wetting your pillow?

What do you do when all you want to do is cuddle her in your arms and whisper words of love and comfort…..yet you know she still has the trauma of labor and delivery and cat scans and MRI procedures shortly after she is born?

What do you do when you simply feel helpless in it all?

You run to God and let Him wrap His arms of peace and comfort around you- letting you know that all will be well…..according to His perfect will.

With a Heavy but Trusting Heart, Jill

I knew it! The baby is gonna be Jill jr, cuz her momma is so broken up over her...and cuz its all about momma.

They should plant Timothy down Infront of video games if they're gonna insist he take flight training online. What are they gonna do when he actually has to...fly?

Application Requirements

Applicants for the Missionary Aviation Technology major must complete standard Moody Bible Institute—Spokane admissions procedures. The completion of standardized tests may be required for admittance into the technical training portion of the program.

Good luck with that, Timmy.

I live in Spokane and am imagining running into that group. Wow, that’s scary.  I moved here from the south, and it’s a whole different world than they’re used to.  Hopefully it’ll be good for Timothy and he’ll realize his parents are nut jobs.

You guys weren’t kidding about those pictures, they look like fun house reflections. Those poor kids, they’re unfortunate in every way.

Timothy will never get away.  He'll do that first year, maybe, online but no way will Jill let him go all the way to Washington.  And there's no possibility that he'd have the money to go anyway.  Jill is just using this to give him false hope and to do her usual grifting routine.  He'll have some of the money but Jill will find a way to guilt him into using it to help support the family.  Well, poor thing, he'd probably not pass any basic tests to get into the harder stuff anyway.

Honestly, she's the worst fundie parent that I follow.  All I ever want to do is find a way to save those poor, underfed children.

Erin's condition is treatable with the heparin shots, it's not an unknown or sudden issue; she just needs shots to sustain pregnancy, like her mother required progesterone to sustain her last few pregnancies. These weren't life-threatening conditions. Izzy? That was plain stubbornness on Jill's part. We don't know the deets with Sammy, but we do know it was a 40 hour attempted home labor ending in another emergency c-section and a two week stay in the NICU for the baby.

Once bitten, twice shy AFAIAC.

Regarding Giddyup's birth, apparently TWO incompetent "midwives" couldn't properly figure out the baby's position. Trained women have been able to diagnose breech for centuries. Trixie even delivered one last week on Call the Midwife, set 55 years ago.

Jill is incompetent, period.

Okay, I have to say this because I just rewatched the episode. Israel was not in fetal distress. If he was, the doctor at the hospital would not have waited another 10 hours to deliver him after Jill arrived at the hospital. People act lie Jill was whisked straight into the OR for an emergency csection. She had an unplanned csection, yes, but Izzy could not have been in any real danger given how long the hospital staff waited before doing the surgery.

As for Samuel, we have no idea at all what went wrong or why he was in the NICU for two weeks. It's all just speculation often stated as fact around here.

Finally, with Gideon, we again have no idea why Joy didn't go to the hospital immediately. Maybe she thought the baby might turn and fought going. For all we know, Jill told her repeatedly that Joy needed to go to the hospital and Joy insisted on waiting. Or Jill did try to turn Gideon unsuccessfully, which happens with even the best doctors. We just don't know.

I'm certainly not saying that Jill is a wonderful midwife or anywhere close to it, but I do get frustrated when what we do not know is taken as fact and what we do know is exaggerated to make a point, like Izzy being in serious danger when he clearly wasn't when Jill arrived at the hospital.

Jill R. has previously said that the baby is due to be delivered early sometime this week because the doctors wanted a team of specialists either present or close by after the birth.  To me, that doesn't sound like they expect birth to be traumatic, but if there are problems they'll be ready to do a C-section.  She said this on a live FB post with tear streaked face and seemed to have trouble explaining just what the problem was.  At one point David came in and reminded her what side of the brain the possible stroke had occurred in.  At the time it was presented as a possible problem that may or may not turn out OK.  But not to worry, Jill made sure to let her public know that because she went to the specialists appointment nicely dressed and ready to spout Bible versus, he knew that she was a good person who couldn't have done anything to cause any problems with the pregnancy.  The doctor also is said to have assured Jill that if the baby needed any special care, her large brood of existing children would be just the thing to help with daily care and physical therapy.

I think that might have been when she announced that Nurie had decided that Jill needed a Pamper Mommy Party, where she asked for no baby things, just new bedding, an expensive mixer, expensive perfumes, and other things.  The party was live streamed and Jill sat in a chair as her presents were presented to her.  She must have been disappointed that she got more baby things than Mommy things, and went offline for awhile when she got a lot of flack for her crass grifting.

Since then, Jill has either acted like nothing's wrong or hinted at possible problems but has refused to elaborate.  She made time to have a pregnancy photo shoot, show off her miscarriage wall, and let her fans know that she was driving into a blizzard to attend a church function on the East Coast.  Now they're back home again and back to begging for love offerings from the public.  Who knows what's really going on or how it will all end?

So I went down the rabbit hole of moody.edu.  First -when I see the name my first thought was Mad Eye Moody opened a school?  Well that should be interesting.

The Spokane branch is closing their Bible study first year and only offering it online after the 2017-2018 school year so maybe that's more of the reason he's just going on and doing it online?

The 2nd year starts the aviation study - I can't wait to see how he does the required course - Intro to Geometry and Physics.

The school's website states that it does NOT have housing but many students building a community in local apartments or renting a house owned by one of their flock - either way - housing, utilities and transportation to school are NOT included in tuition.

Years 2 and 3 come to - wait for it: just over $38,000.

Years 4 and 5 - just over $78,000.  So 4 years for just tuition and books is roughly $116-117,000.  And that doesn't include the online first year. To fly Bibles to people.  WTF???

If Tim can handle the classes, I wouldn't be shocked if he graduates debt free. His parents seemed to have managed to live off love offerings for the past 20 years.

Maybe Stormy J should start a Grifting blog and do seminars to finance her children's education. Weathering the Storms with Jill. Derick could learn a lot from this family.

I'm assuming you're joking about the getting arrested part being helpful because first of all I can't imagine Timothy doing anything that would put him in such a situation, plus jail is not a helpful place for anyone.  He would never make it with street smart thugs in there.  I worry about him at a bible college!  I think even a conservative, secular college would be really difficult for him.  Guys that age can really be mean.  They test each other.  He would be a hazing victim in no time.  He's grown into a handsome guy, but those speech patterns he's inherited from his mother are just awful.  As soon as he opens his mouth around any group of young guys, he'll have victim written all over him.  I don't even think he would do well with the Duggar dolts and all their "hilarious jokes."  He seems like such a sweet kid.  It really makes me sad how much Jill has stunted his growth.  I hope they didn't beat all of his will out of him because he'll need it to really survive in this big, bad world.

Every time I hear Moody Bible College, I think of those beige, boring Moody books from Sarah Maxwell.  If the students are that boring, Timothy might stand a chance.  I was also thinking "what the hell does bible study have to do with flying?"  Then I realized, if you're putting this sheltered uneducated kid in a position to pilot a plane, prayer might just come in handy!!!

There is a program in Montana for teenagers/young adults of a certain age. It is like a boot camp setting, but the kids can get their high school diploma and learned a trade at the same time. It is for kids who struggle in school or falling through the cracks at home. The majority of the kids end up graduating and going to trade school or college. I would love to see some of these fundie kids end up in this type of boot camp instead of the blasted Alert crap. At least the kids would have people who want to help them be the best they can be with stern but well trained staff who actually know what they are doing.

You're right, David wasn't raised that way and he does know what the real world is like. It makes me think he doesn't really plan to let any of his kids experience it.

It kills me that Jill BRAGS over and over about how willful Tim was but they managed to break him. That's nothing to be proud of.  It's sad. I'm hoping that Timothy has a secret plan to go to this school and get his pilot's license so he can purportedly deliver bibles to Bumfuck, but in reality as soon as he gets those wings he's gonna make for the horizon, returning periodically to swoop in and rescue his little brothers and sisters from arranged marriages and mommy-approved higher education that will lead nowhere. Jill and Fat Ass will be left alone to spend the rest of their years tooling around in their decrepit stink bus trying to bum free meals and wondering how it all went so wrong.

I read Jill's blog update last night.  Those individual Easter pics were too much.  I liked the bobble head reference.  For once they weren't all color coordinated & for the most part looked put together.  Even with the older kids as helpers,  I can't imagine getting all those kids dressed.  Good job Nurie & Timothy.  I guess it's the malnutrition factor but all of the kids have the old look about them, same as the Duggar guys. I don't see Timothy finishing the Aviation program mainly because of the cost. I barely see him getting thru the online first year.  How can that kid find a quiet place to work on his studies?  What if the Lord finds him a wife during this time?

I worry that if this child does not have a typical appearance, Jill may treat her even worse than she does the first 12. Appearance is everything to Jill and I know firsthand that the public can be very cruel. My family had particular cruelty visited upon them by a conservative baptist church. I hope her social circle will be kind, but this whole situation is very scary.
