Sorry...but what has been seen can never be unseen.

But in all seriousness, what is so freaking immodest about the way she was dressed?  Nothing.  Skirts and dresses are so much more immodest imho.  No chance of seeing upskirt in a pair of Levi's!

Well, the problem with pants or slacks is that the men will NOT be able to handle visual confirmation that the lady has a CROTCH. Oh Lort!

That's probably them.

Same exact thought popped into my head!  You know, there were dance parties held outside Pence's house.  Maybe someone can start a traveling dance party, head to Arkansas for a one off, and we can support THEIR ministry.  THAT is a ministry I would support!

Yes!  And not just dance parties, but gay, rainbow, dance parties in the street!  Let's make it happen!

re: security. There may have been  threats against the family, and I don't blame them for having security if that was the case. Of course not whoring out your family will prevent threats too. That being said, I'm sure it was both there to engance egos (See, I'm famous and important!), and stop the public from getting too mentally close to the kids. Can't have someone take a metaphoric pin and pop the bubble they're trapped in, can we? Jim Bob probably lives in fear of getting an Anita Bryant pie in the face or being glitter bombed. Such a masculine man.

I am betting there have been no "threats" whatsoever and the security is to keep those away who might actually confront one or more of the Duggars with the damage their religious and personal views cause for others. Remember that every time they make an appearance in public, any access to them is heavily controlled, up to and including demands that any questions submitted at Q&A's be on cards, in advance and at one of Jessa Blessa's appearances, they would only answer questions from children.

It's unfortunate that they can't handle any kind of disagreement or pushback on their BS.

All very good points, but let us not forget that they sexualize their pre-teen daughters and put them all over TV and beg for attention from the media. Let me talk about sex, immodesty, and my six year-old! I wouldn't for one second underestimate how that would motivate a pedophile or a similarly crazy person. Having said that, I 100% agree that in their own minds they're likely protecting themselves from heathens, atheists, hommersexshuls and other sane people.

Remember Michelle flipping out over the gay crew member?

We also have to remember that may or may not have been a true story.  Anyone can make up anything and post it on the internet.

Agreed, mea culpa. It sounds so plausible and in character that I tend to forget it's just someone's story. OK then, we know the robocalls were true and that sort of supports my original statement as well.

Didn't Jermeiah have a creepy pedophile guy that set up a group to discuss him. He had a creepy vibe and had posted pics of himself with the duggar kids.

Jeezus. It doesn't look like a public road, or at least a sealed thoroughfare, so there's SFA "vee-hicular" traffic that's gonna throw Joe-Z 10 metres in the air and land her on her bigly, yet yugely fragile head, so a helmet isn't necessary. The worst thing that could possibly be is

I like that they're not riding dirt bikes of any configuration. Those things break necks.

Woah. Hadn't heard about this. I hope someone reported this. I can't stand what the Duggars stand for, and once they grow up and are allowed to talk, their holier-than-thou personalities, but sick is sick.

Ok let me clarify - He wasn't a convicted pedo or anything, but he was a creepy looking guy in his 40's who ran a Facebook group dedicated to the duggar boy (I might have mixed up the J'boy - it was a howler). I remember reading about it here and seeing the group - which was taken down. Am I crazy? If sew doesn't remember maybe I am... Anyway, the whole thing gave me a creepy vibe - it was worse than Jill and Jessa being featured on foot fetish websites.

I just saw Canton on the Weather Channel. They said 5000 addresses were impacted; it's flattened. JD flew Anna back from Jesus Jail through severe storms; I don't see why they weren't on the road last night when these storms rumbled through; maybe they impacted southern AR more than the NE path they would take to get home from Big Sandy? Point being, common sense isn't a strong suit. If it was that bad, people could have huddled in the buildings on the Big Sandy compound rather than their campers and ride out the storms before departing.

eta: Just saw that there is some river flooding in Springdale, but since the Duggars don't live near any bodies of water, I'd say that they're reasonably safe.

It still boggles the mind. They were dropping babies like bunnies, living on charity, and JB spent that much on a failed Senate campaign. You know what he could have paid for with the first 10K or so? Polling. It wouldn't have been hard to determine that he was going to lose big, and save $240,000 to buy his children some food and his wife some clothes.

Yet they expected handouts.

I wonder, if JB was convinced God wanted him to run for Senate, but he failed, does that mean JB actually has no idea what God really wants, or did God tell him to run, then decide JB wasn't worthy and punished him with the loss.

I've heard them justify it as - God wanted JB to run and lose, because the attention got them the TV show and fame - er... I mean Television Ministry. Jim Bob running, losing, losing ALL THE MONEY, and not getting anything out of it in the end never occurred to them. That handmaids tale picture really saved their asses. So what if they had to recruit a couple of non-Duggars to pose as their kids?

They have selective deafness for God's pronouncements.

Not just God but everybody in the state of Arkansas apparently knew way beforehand that JB didn't have a snowflake's chance in hell. So my guess is, that if God actually was involved, it was the "I sent three boats and a helicopter" situation. "I sent 15 political consultants, 9 fellow legislators, 6 political polling companies and 5 op-eds to tell you not to waste your parents' money while you had nine kids sleeping in a 6x10 room." I expect even God gives up on communication with somebody after a few incidents like that.

God and Jim Bob's Ego sound remarkably similar when they talk to JB.

Yeah, what about the myriad of situations in the Old Testament which patiently recount God's attempts at alerting someone to a sinful situation, which they ignored, ignored, ignored until God "turned his back on" said defiant reprobates, saying "clearly you need to learn this for yourself"?

Didn't JB blame "sin in the camp" for the loss.

"Sin in the camp" was the explanation used in the failed Jim Holt campaign for U.S. Senate.  Jim Bob and Jim Holt were friends during high school and the Duggar and Holt families went to home church together.  The Holt family was filmed with the Duggars several times on the reality TV show, starting with 14 Children and Pregnant Again.

Josh was engaged to Holt's daughter Kaeleigh when he was 14 years old (right after he was caught molesting his sisters for the first time).  That engagement broke off but they got engaged again when Josh was 16 in 2004.  Josh was helping with Jim Holt's campaign in 2004 and was caught looking at porn on the computers at the campaign's headquarters.  Holt blamed his loss on Josh and his "sin in the camp" and the engagement to his daughter was called off again.  It is thought that Jim Holt first found out about the molestations at this time, too.  Interestingly, Holt was a youth counselor and chaplain at Piney Ridge Center for juvenile sex offenders.

According to a member of the home church named Alice, "He found that the young man betrothed to his daughter, had committed sexual sins(?) while on the campaign trail. The young man, now 16, was made to stand in front of the church and confess his sin. He was then told that the campaign was lost due to his sin."

Kaeleigh is now a mother, happily married to someone else.  Jim Holt runs a tree service.

Because every organization in which a teenage boy has sneaked a peek at porn on a company computer has quickly been smote by the almighty's lightning stick and visited with immediate and ignominious destruction. (And it was pretty ignominious -- a 44% to 55% loss to Blanche Lincoln)

Yeah. Sounds legit. ...........................................Because Holt must have been great, and we know that his campaign was fabulous otherwise, since JB was part of his support team.

There must be a lot of smoking ruins out there that I haven't noticed.

Also -- The kind of "church" in which teenagers have to stand up in front of crowds and repent of destroying some adult's political career because they looked at porn seems, actually, more like the premise of some kind of pervy porn movie than like an actual church, too, if you ask me.

Holy hell, yes.  I am positive - absolutely positive - that in churches where this is a norm/thing (the idea being, you've sinned against your trusted church body of believers, and thus must make amends to the church as a whole) - this is a policy for ADULTS.  (I also have a nagging hunch it might be limited to church officials and people in a position of trust, who are supposed to behave as shining examples, like deacons and the equivalent.)  You'd probably also get the chance to just up and leave if you didn't want to submit to this sort of correction and seek out another church instead, so it might be something whispered back and forth between single individuals and not an entire shaming session.  If the Holts requested it and the Duggars agreed to it, they are both pairs of terrible irresponsible parents.

Because the kids, you see, can't leave.  It's either "Josh continues going to this horrible shaming church, or has no communal spiritual life whatsoever, because like baggage, he goes where the sperm and egg donors go."  Which must've been a doubly ironic kick in the crotch for him when they started home churching, and/or staying home and watching sermons on TV like we've sometimes seen them do.

Bingo.

Honestly, that experience alone would be enough to warp a lot of people for life, seems to me. And that would include people who, unlike Josh, weren't already warped to start with. If it had happened to me, I expect I would have been plotting massive revenge against those parents until I got the damn revenge.

I don't know if this is the right topic, but we went to a community civic association meeting last night and it finally dawned on my who the president of the association sounded like - Jim Boob!  Not any of the words JB would say, very nice man, talked about community stuff, but if I closed my eyes, it sounded like JB himself saying the words, with the cadence, inflections, rhythm, etc.  Really disconcerting because the fellow is a decent human being trying to do good in the world.

Yes, I came here to see if there was video evidence yet of MOTY!

In honor of the former 'Mother of the Year' (declared so by Doug Phillips of the defunct Vision Forum, who was sued for sexual improprieties with his children's nanny and excommunicated from the church he founded), I thought I would spend time reviewing Michelle's advice on parenting.

She once wrote a post which included a chart of "godly character qualities for parents to instruct their children."  (She probably used that chart to instruct oldest kid Josh.)  The post was also available as a printed PDF.

Well, I went to the post and saw that Michelle has removed it!  She must be rethinking her advice on raising kids.  'bout time.

WOW!  After a little sleuthing, and thanks to the Internet archive, I found the chart and discovered that Michelle didn't write it.  It was produced by the Gothard ATI (Advanced Training Institute) and used for homeschooling little robots.  I guess Michelle doesn't have any original parenting advice.
