I hate that phrase. It usually only used to describe women with multiple partners, like somehow a woman who has had sex 100 times with 100 different men will somehow have a looser vagina than a woman who has had sex 100 times with just 1 man, when the vagina is a muscle that is meant to relax and loosen if you're aroused, and will go back to the way it was after. According to my gynae friend, unless your partner is abnormally large, your vag is fine regardless of how often you have sex, and even a giving birth to a couple* of kids won't make that much difference, because once the baby is born, again the muscle contracts back.

*less than 19 obviously.

Amen.  I only had one (via C-section) and peri-menopause has not been kind to my cookie.  :=(

Perimenopause has been mean to my cookie, my waistline, my moods. I wonder how much support Fundie women like Michelle get. I have had a terrible time, regardless of having access to excellent doctors, so I can't imagine how much worse off i'd have been. Makes me sorry for these Fundy gals who have to grin and bear it.

Hormone replacement therapy really helps, but then you have to weigh it against the possible dangerous side effects.

I doubt Michelle has been given the choice.

Michelle had 7 kids in her 30s and 3 in her 40s. Although I'm not sure how many of those were c-sections.

https://www.psychologytoday.com/blog/all-about-sex/201109/the-rare-truth-about-tight-and-loose-women

"If you stretch elastic a great deal, over time, it fatigues and no longer snaps back entirely. That can happen to the vaginas of young women after multiple births. Their vaginal muscles fatigue and no longer fully contract. In addition, aging fatigues vaginal muscle. Whether or not women have given birth, as they grow older, they may complain of looseness.

Today, many woman delay childbearing until after 30, and some have children after 40. Combine the rigors of older childbearing with the effects of aging on the vaginal muscles, and many women complain of looseness. Women who give birth after around 30 may notice persistent looseness after delivering only one child. Individual differences account for the fact that birth—and age—related looseness happens to some women and not others."

From Radar Online:

"After the first natural birth, he said “The second delivery was  a set of twins, Jana and John, but it was a C-section, because she had pre-eclampsia, but she didn’t have that again until her 19th child. She had a variety of deliveries. Michelle recalled the details, saying she had “13 VBACS (vaginal birth after c-section) in a row, 4 C-sections.”

From Lily's & Ellie's blog, 2011:

"As the mother of 19 children, Michelle Duggar has been through 17 deliveries. So what does this experienced mom say about hospital births versus home births?
Her first five children were born at the hospital, but after talking with friends, she and Jim Bob decided to try something a little different. Jinger, baby number six, was delivered at home, her birth attended by both a doctor and a midwife.
Michelle loved the flexibility of laboring at home, and she recovered in record time. A few hours later, she was up and about. Joseph, baby number seven, was also born at home. Although the Duggars opted to deliver their next child, Josiah, at the hospital, they still utilized the helpful techniques taught by their midwife."

I wonder if Boob and Michelle were going through a financial rough patch and Jinger and Joseph were born at home because their insurance had lapsed. I find it odd that after four hospital births she randomly decides to do two home births in a row, followed by another eleven right back at the hospital. That's kind of a strange little blip, IMO.

Well, it's no wonder that Jill thinks she'll have no problems after her disastrous first birthing experience. Mom had 13 VBACs, so why can't Jill? (Soooooooo against recommended practice and sooooooo dangerous. Michelle was INCREDIBLY lucky that she didn't die or experience a uterine rupture.)

God likes it when women viciously abuse themselves to impress a bunch of rednecks.

I would imagine she'd have a sore cookie from being torn from so many deliveries, particularly if she wasn't getting stitched up. And going through menopause hasn't been much fun for my cookie, and I've never given birth, so I don't imagine hers feels good either.

He probably thinks lube and foreplay are for "lesser" women. You know, the sinful.

I would say what I kind of hope happens to KJB, but I'm sure there would be a line item in the family budget for single-dose Viagra by the next morning.

"Up and about" = "Time to cook Jim Bob's dinner and make sure the kids were quiet so he could enjoy a nap on the couch."

Selfish bastard!

Maybe he can direct it into a downward spiral, resulting in a fatal crash. The world would be a better place due to TFDW. Man, this depression I developed in early November has me making up weird stuff.

It would be even worse if you had been addicted to pregnancy and felt that your role in life was to push out as many babies as possible.  My two pregnancies were years ago, and I never wanted another, but still I found it somewhat depressing to realize that part of my life was over for good.  If Michelle is depressed about that, I almost feel sorry for her.  Almost.

Reading the first Duggar book again since I read it before girls were married. There are some real awesome quotes in there.

Michelle"  "As I teach you to obey my voice, I'm also teaching you to obey God's voice."  So....her voice and God's voice are the same?

Michelle tells the story of why she committed herself to God. She had stolen some money, everyone knew she had stolen some money, but she lied about it.  She felt really guilty. A friend took her to church where she heard, "I could be forgiven for everything I had ever done wrong. Everything!"  So her first reason for becoming a "Christian" was so she could be forgiven for the theft she was feeling guilty for.

Jim Bob said that after first meeting Michelle, he prayed to God that, "...Michelle could be mine and that I could be her spiritual leader."  Am I the only one who thinks 'ew.'

I second that ew, and then some.

You can see why, a little later, when he found out about Gothard-y stuff, he was thrilled thrilled thrilled thrilled thrilled.

And, of course, you can see the actual Gothard influence in Michelle's horse hockey about God's voice and her voice. Goth's stuff is so hierarchical like that. God the big umbrella and boss, with hubby the second biggest umbrella and boss of everybody under it and God surrogate, and then wifey the third biggest umbrella and boss of everybody under it and God and hubby surrogate. God hands off his power to these people and those damn wives -- but especially those damn children -- better well know it.

You forgot the fourth umbrella in the Gothard philosophy:  eldest child Josh.  All the kids had to submit to his 'authority.'  And they did, for the longest time.

I had never heard about this "umbrella of protection" but I couldn't help but notice that apparently Jesus and the husband aren't very good protection since under each of their umbrellas rain continues to get through.  Only the wife umbrella in the diagram I saw kept the rain out, so personally they should cut out the middle men and let the wife handle things.  As usual the woman's the only one who gets it right!!

These pictures were obviously taken before Michelle realized that women wearing pants makes Baby Jesus cry.  They are irrelevant and have no place on a family website like PTV!!!  They're disgusting!!!
