Today was an interesting mix.  It did feel like there was more mystery in the show given how much has changed in the year we jumped ahead.  Even spoiled, it held a few surprises for me like Haley actually being dead.  It explains why JJ is looking so hot unkempt.

My theory about Haley is that whoever killed Jordan killed Haley as well.  The neck tie killer will be back.  Oh how I'd love if it were actually Ben.

The exposition was bad, especially with Xander and Sarah.  Why not just have Xander acting like a dad and Sarah referring to him as such?  Viewers could do the math temporarily until it's mentioned in another conversation.

We all know that Clyde will be revealed to be the culprit  who killed Hayley and Jordan .

Dont forget that JJ has a personal history with Clyde .

Its the only plausible explanation.

I do hAve to wOnder.  Did all the Hortons visit Jennifer while she was comatose ?

In talking about characters such as :

- Tommy Horton jr

-Sandy Horton

-Melissa HOrton

-Mike Horton

-Stephen OlsEn

-Jeremy Horton

-Nathan HOrton

- Bill Horton

- Spencer Olsen

Did Frankie Brady, Billie and Carly Manning alo pay Jen a viSit ?

How can it be changed to viewer response when they film like 7 months in advance though? I mean yeah I expect Ron to botch it up but the screwed up filming schedule is a problem.

Kind of like how..

Spoiler

Brandon Barash is being brought back MONTHS later due to his popularity not even being obvious to the show until after his firing caused a fan shitstorm and when Stefans death was filmed months before.

He was working with one of Clyde's drug runners right? I think I remember Clyde taking the punk kid into a back room and shooting him while JJ was hanging out in the living room spazzing. And because JJ did this, the police were able to get the drop on him and arrest Clyde the first time, right?

Is it wrong that in my head canon, selfish Abigail stayed in France the entire time her mother was in a coma and only came back to Salem because Chad needed to for business reasons? But she's playing it up like she was super worried about her mother the whole time 🤣 Am I heartless for thinking that?

At first I thought we'd seen the last of Haley, but now I'm realizing that we can see more of her in flashbacks. Hopefully her mother gets some good material. I rather liked her. And that means JJ isn't saddled with another boring girlfriend.

Both Paige and Haley were incredibly dull and not really likeable or interesting until after they died (and even then only marginally). JJ had a lot of chemistry with Theresa but they were broken up for behind-the-scenes reasons...and unless I misunderstood, Jennifer Lilly is now more open to the idea of Theresa and JJ being a couple because he doesn't look so much like her real life brother anymore. So maybe that will happen one day. Who knows? JJ and Eve had awesome chemistry, but that's pretty much about it. JJ and Gabi had chemistry and were very cute together and overall pretty good for each other, but the bad blood between her and Abigail would probably make it impossible for them to ever get back together (thanks again, Failure!). So I guess that means the only viable love interest for JJ over the course of his several years on the show is still Theresa? Well I guess there's Beth, but her interest in him was pretty one-sided than the show's forgotten she exists.

It sad they didn't do more with the character in terms of finding him a really strong love interest.

So I finally watched the new "back to the future" Salem episode and I kind of hate that Ciara has somehow gotten smugger and more unpleasant, but look, she's in a super-tight business outfit, so I guess she's now a super serious executive.  Not buying it but I do love how she seems totally over Ben.

I do like that a new little actress is playing Ari now and the poor little girl is being teased because both of her parents have gone to jail for killing people--damn, but in Salem, isn't that par for the course?  I did love Will's chilling on his bunk though, busting Ben's chops and interrupting his Ciara pity party--good times.  And I guess the manny (male nanny) Sonny was talking to will be his new love interest?

I just saw that NBC plans on airing the impeachment hearing that is being held this coming Wednesday at 10am EST. Hopefully this hearing doesn't take two hours!

Oh, I think it will last all day. For days, in fact (and I'll be glued, but that's a different matter, lol). They should air the show overnight so folks can record it. So much for November sweeps, DOOL producers.

And thanks @DisneyBoy -- I dimly recall that stuff with JJ and Clyde, but clearly forgot that JJ was related to Clyde finally getting pinched by the cops.

I don't think it much matters anyway.  They're going on indefinite hiatus at the end of the month. I doubt they'll be back.

They do plan to return to filming in March or April. There will be about 6 weeks of shows left to film in the current renewal when they do, and they'll know whether they go beyond September 2020 at that point and would have more to film than 6 weeks. I've put up a couple posts in the casting thread, this is all basically part of the plan to close the tape-to-air gap. But I should add, yeah, there seems to be a lot more than normal working against them going into this next renewal.

I think you missed the end of the episode. She has actually doubled-down on her love for Ben. Now she's trying to work with him and get Victor thrown into prison for murdering Jordan. So all of that "I love you grandpa" stuff was an act. She's fully trying to have Victor charged.

I hate her now more than ever. I think she's officially on the same level as Abigail...if not worse. I don't remember Abigail ever trying to take down a member of her own family. And what's funny is, like you, for most of the episode I thought "finally - she's focusing on her career and acting like an adult and appreciating her family and not just obsessing over Mister Washboard Abs. Amen!" And then they pulled the gut punch. I hope Victor kills her. Or Gina.

...and even if Victor did Kill Jordan, didn't Ben rush to Victor's side and ask him to do something about Jordan like a week ago? I missed a few episodes but I seem to recall that was Ben's intention. So if Ben asked Victor to kill her, doesn't that still mean he's still guilty the premeditated murder and therefore deserving to be in jail?

I hate seeing Will have to share a cell with his attacker, and then how is that attacker tell him that he's no better than he is. Shut up, Ben!

I totally did not see the Adrienne/Will twist coming. He probably just made her trip over her own shoes or something stupid. Going by the timeline established today, if it's been one year and one day since Jennifer's fall, so that means Adrienne died the day after she remarried Justin. What could have possibly happened in the next 24 hours that would make Will responsible of deliberately murdering his mother-in-law?

I really like the new Ari and the manny is cool too, but I can't fathom how Sonny is managing to turn anyone's head again. Will has had only 2 love interests in the last like five years, and somehow Sonny has had 4? Hun?

(Yes technically Will did have a fling while he was in LA, but we never met the guy and I'm not sure the show even remembers it happened so whenever)

I really liked Hope's hair today. It seemed much fuller.

And there we have, ladies and gentlemen, the New Stefano. I cannot believe Corday and NBC have allowed this to happen to Joe's legacy.

Unbelievable.

Completely agree on your first point, I was seething while watching those scenes. And then Will's so obviously down about the whole thing and is ready to take the blame for whatever happened, it hurts my heart a little (or a lot). 😭

And as to your next paragraph, an episode for next week that aired early in Australia (which has been referenced in this thread) gave some insight as to the timeline and a little more into the how, so I'm going to put it in a spoiler below - ****Please do not click if you don't want to find out until Monday the 18th****

According to the 11/18 episode, Adrienne died ~6 months prior to that episode (so it would be May 2020). It's also established that it was an accident of some sort. Will has already faced trial and been convicted, but it doesn't go into more detail than that. More info will presumably be revealed as time goes on.

Oh no problem...but now I'm struggling to remember if Clyde ever went after JJ during The Siege storyline. That would have been the time to address JJ having betrayed him, but I really don't remember anything that happened to JJ during that era.

Actually I often forget who did what, of the three escapees.

I know Clyde shot Abe and Theo ended up holding him at gunpoint, and Clyde confronted Kate because they had been dating before his arrest, and Chad's arrival saved her. I know Xander was the one guarding Joey and Claire in the warehouse, and Orpheus was the one who shot Paul, and wanted to execute John at the townhouse and then came back after Halloween to trap Marlena and Kayla in coffins and set them on fire. But I don't remember who strapped the bomb to Jennifer at the pub or what else Xander did...

All this to say, Clyde may have already worked through his anger towards JJ LOL. I can't remember.

Thanks for the tip Serena. I guess that explains the anniversary angle.

Yesterday was fun!  I'm semi-spoiled like a few others, so the time jump was a known known but the details were/are a surprise.

Casey Moss is such a good actor.  The sadness about his eyes, the small lip trembles, the defeated posture.  He knows how to bring it, unlike many of his scene-chewing co-stars.

It's too bad Jordan was killed off.  They should have made it Abigail.

I was too focused on the new hairdos and missed the new hospital scenery.  I was laughing all episode over Jennifer's Rapunzel-length locks.  Kayla and Sarah had great hair, while Chad's and Nicole's was terrible.

- So Will KNIFED Adrienne?  That's not like accidental gun shot.  That's a seriously personal/intimate kill.  Like look them in the face and take an action to end their life.  I cannot figure out under what circumstances Will would think this was the right thing to do.  So... kudos to DOOL for coming up with a mystery I'm interested in.

- I knew Ciara was faking it as soon as she told Victor everything he wanted to hear.

- I'm happy for Brock Kelly (Supernatural shout-out!) to have a new gig but that poofy hair thing needs a trim.  That's just nope for me.

- Ariana should be in therapy NOW. And she's definitely going to have abandonment issues.

- Eve, Eve, Eve... you really know how to bite off the hand that feeds you.

- Princess Gina... can someone who is a fan help me to turn around on this because I hate being a Negative Nelly.

Sarah actually smiles with Xander every once in a while. As far as I'm concerned, that makes Xander better for her right there. Eric is such a freaking sad sack. That being said, Sarah should tell him about their kid, but it's a soap, so whatever.

I actually liked the Sarah/Eric pairing and contrary to popular opinion here, Sarah and Eric did smile together many times. And, for me, I would say that when that same someone that makes you smile every once and awhile also literally stood near your unconscious body aiding and abetting a psychopath trying to raid your womb and raise your child, that kind of trumps the making you giggle thing.

14 hours ago, Petunia13 said:

I don’t agree. Eric is definitely jealous of Xander being around Sarah. To the point he almost beat his ass several times over it and calls him a son of a bitch that should stay away from her. Whenever he sees him with her he gets an angry glare.

I think its partially jealousy since he and Sarah didn't break up because there weren't feelings there but its mostly just hating Xander, for very good reason. As far as yesterday's episode though his jealousy concerned Xander and the baby.

12 hours ago, boes said:

Sarah keeping that child away from Eric ..... How can something so wrong feel so right?  Xander is a psycho, no argument there, and no amount of charm should be enough to cloud Sarah's judgement - just like Brady with Kristen. But Eric is such a monumentally self-absorbed, narcissistic, sanctimonious pain in the ass, rude as hell whenever he doesn't get his way and always expecting everyone to kiss his ass just like Marlena always does.  He's far too big of a baby to be in charge of any child.

I disagree wholeheartedly with your characterization of Eric, especially calling him a narcissist. It looks like Eric has done just fine for the last year helping to raise Holly. Even if I agreed with your assessment that doesn't make Xander better so Sarah letting someone like Xander raise Eric's kid still makes no sense.

Wait, Ciara was playing Victor and still loves Ben?! Let me put on my shocked face.

<img src="giphy.gif?cid=790b761193277b1c090c2d4f6a

I'm sorry but they've already gone to this well too many times with Ben/Ciara that I was immediately suspicious when Ciara told Victor what he wanted to hear. It didn't help that she sounded totally insincere to me. I don't know if it was VK giving a bad performance or Ciara, but I just didn't believe it. Ciara is about as disloyal as they come. Ben is pretty much the only person she cares about and she'll stab anyone in the back to help Ben.

And what was with the way she trotted out of the house? I swear I haven't seen someone walk like that since Peggy Bundy on Married...With Children.

Ben needs to just jump his own ass and die! I don't care why or how Will supposedly killed Adrienne, for Ben to stand there and actually act like he and Will are the same is laughable/rage-inducing. You are a serial killer who killed people with malice and forethought, you and Will aren't in the same league. And, even if Will was also a serial killer given that Will is one of Ben's victims he has no business getting in Will's face and acting offended because Will didn't believe Ben's tale of woe.

The new Arianna is cute and talks like an actual human and not a child being forced to act by their stage parents so that's a step up.

Hey cool - you're using my coping mechanism too!

Also, consider that Hope isn't very likeable most of the time these days, and seeing her play a villain and arch her eyebrows and give suspicious stares is something KA does very well. Just block out the accent and when you get really annoyed, remember all those times she was canoodling with Rafe. You will get through this!

I'm also on some level hoping that off-camera Stefano is exacting his revenge against Hope for the shooting by taking her life away from her and making her into his puppet again. Oh wait, they already said that Stefano purposefully goaded her into shooting him so he'd have an escape route. But wait wait wait, Stefano didn't need an escape route from Salem because he wasn't up to anything nefarious at the time that she shot him. He wasn't even a wanted man. Just a sick one.

So....um..does that mean he would or wouldn't have a bone to pick with Hope?

I liked today's show, I thought the prison conversation between Ben & Will was interesting & Chandler did a good job, especially when he said what he did to land in jail!   Whoa, I did not see that coming!  Ciara 'fooling" Victor again(altho I think Grandpa knows what she is up to).  Jack&Jennifer's scenes continue to make me smile.   There is now a "Manny" on 'Days"(just like on "This is Us" ), lol.  So far, I am intrigued with the new twists & turns, but lets see how soon it turns into "crazy town".

I loled so hard at that line. Kayla really is a shit doctor. In her defense though it must be hard to be the sole doctor in Salem.

Ben and Ciara are even more insufferable one year later. Ben talking shit to Will, is this motherfucker serious? And yes to @FilmTVGeek80 on Ciara's walk. Like seriously what was that?

I still love Eve. KDP is just too good.

I'm into the manny. He seems like a decent actor. Also, no offense, but he's way too hot for Sonny lol.

Chad and Abby had a coldness to them. I don’t remember them being like that last time they were in Salem.

Jack was very sweet with Jennifer.  If I ever am in that situation I hope my guy stays by my side , kisses my hand , dyes my grey hair and exercises my legs.

I admit I was fooled by Eric and Sarah for a minute.

I don’t watch this soap but thought I’d check in here after reading about the actors losing their contracts today. I liked Lindsey Godfrey on B&B. I thought she was very pretty and a good actress. But dear God, what has she done to her eyebrows?! They look like two caterpillars hanging over her eyes! The only eyebrows worse than these are the ones on Robin McGraw, Dr. Phil’s wife. Hers are actually scary looking.

Thanks for the ideas.

I do think the accent detracts and if I'm honest with myself, I only like Hope when she's laughing or being light hearted.  Dour Hope and Narcissist Gina are not fun.  BUT, I like the notion that this is clearly a defined arc, now with (I'm guessing) chipped Stefano in the mix.  I'm suddenly reminded of Darth Helmut (Spaceballs The Movie!) playing with his barbie dolls.  Dr Rolf in the roll of Darth Helmut.

Yes Cole he was getting close to Paige and JJ didn't want her getting into trouble. Paige thought JJ was dealing again then later he told her he's working undercover so she helped him. At first JJ thought Clyde killed Paige.

Her name was Bev and I really think she should've been his OTP they could've had him eventually fall for her despite himself but she resists and he chases her. Soaps used to do that.

Yeah I wouldn't take JL at her word there she's not actually sticking around so of course she'll say she'd be open to JJ/Theresa.. even though she's said otherwise in the past being against it and isn't even on the show so she knows its never going to happen. Regardless I'm fortunate this pairing is never going to happen. I want JJ with someone I actually like. Most importantly I want JJ to be a viable character on his own and he's not.

They should've brought back Roxanne who actually knew Jack/Jennifer/Eve they were cute he had chem with her and they could've grown from their friendship into a possible romance.  She has no illusions about him and was trying to be a better person herself. Plus Eve and Jennifer both didn't like her so that could've been fun.

They are knowingly keeping Eric from his child for no good reason at all.  Like him or not, Eric hasn't done anything to be denied the right to parent his child.

Yes of course on a normal human level, this is a bad thing to do to someone. Absolutely agree. However, since soap characters aren't close to normal humans I am okay with this storyline.

Since soaps do continue to act as though it is 1950, there is no doubt Eric would have dumped the alleged love of his life and stayed with pregnant Sarah and cried every damn day. Real world? Of course co-parent but soaps just don't seem to realize pregnancy doesn't have to mean mom and dad must be together.

Plus while I know Xander isn't exactly a good guy, I really enjoy the actor and I think he works well with LG. Of course this is going to blow up in Sarah's face (and Nicole's) but I am going to enjoy it while it lasts. Because what comes next is Eric crying daily. Again.

I hate Princess Gina. I just do. I do not care and I personally don't think KA is good enough for any of this. She can barely play Hope! Sure it keeps Hope away from Rafe but that just isn't enough for me. I wouldn't miss KA or Hope or Gina at all if she just went away.

Continue to love Jack and Jennifer and of course Kayla. Kayla is my rock!

You know Ben/Ciara would be easier to take if Ciara's attachment to Ben was because of all the trauma she went through with being raped by her stepbrother, losing Bo,  and Hope going to jail for killing Stefano. She doesn't feel she deserves better and is drawn to Ben's darkness she forms an unhealthy attachment to him that her family is trying to save her from it could be a good angsty storyline involving family etc but that's too character driven for this show.... instead we have Ciara just being awful in general with Ben not far behind.

Forgive me for repeating this post in multiple threads:

Given that the contract situation affects everyone, it's not really a spoiler.  But it doesn't really belong here either.  Let's consolidate the talk in the Behind The Scenes thread.

If DOOL is renewed and we hear about who will continue with the show, then that can be brought to the Casting thread or spoilers thread.

Thank you!

The baby stroller was probably empty, so 'David' was covered up.

The new nanny is cute. Deserves better than Sonny.

Who is in the bleak Gina apartment with Hope/Gina? Steffy? Too bad she couldn't finish the job of killing off Jennifer.  She hasn't found a way to do it in a year?? How inconvenient that she woke up. None of the Salemites have any sort of clue that Hope acts and dresses differently?

Eve looked - real - in prison. Kudos to Kassie for little to no makeup, severe hair.

So Will sits and leafs through his book while listening to Ben go on about the Jordan investigation. Ben suggests Rafe as a suspect? Victor? Maybe Claire escaped from Bayview! And now Will killed Adrienne????

Ciara, maybe you think Grandpa Victor isn't smart enough to figure out you are playing him? Granted, he seemed to think she was over Ben - erm, not a chance, Vic.

I'm kind of liking how they're pacing the reveal of how much has changed in the last year.  I'm still skeptical about how well it will work but at least they're setting up certain characters so we want to know more about what happened (like Will is responsible for Adrienne's death?)  We start thinking one thing and then find out the truth is something else.

Right.  This is the woman who was swanning around wearing opera gloves and multiple strands of "pearls".  And not ONE person thought there was anything unusual about that.

Ben and Ciara had such potential during that cabin stuff.  It's been downhill ever since then.    I thought VK had potential but I find her an odd actress.  She was weird yesterday during her scenes with Victor.

Overall I did like this episode.  The reveal about Adrienne was well done.   Poor Adrienne. I love the Johnsons so I'm hoping there's a twist at the end and she's not really dead.

So far, I think the timejump has added a good mystery to the show.
