HunterHunted October 11, 2019 Share October 11, 2019 (edited) In a few years when Bryn discovers Janet Jackson's Rolling Stone cover with Rene's hands over her breasts, will Bryn make the connection to the shapewear wahala or will it just be one more weird thing in Bryn's screwed up relationship with her mother that Bryn doesn't realize is screwed up until something major happens. Happy Camper October 11, 2019 Share October 11, 2019 This was interesting to listen to. (Not just the read) Most of the speakers' talking points are very business focused and political and used the pronoun "we". Bethenny must have used the pronoun "I" a million times. She also likes the word "execute". I don't think she really connected with the audience very well. Her voice was very annoying. I suspect that her statement “Most people don’t work hard … Most people move the papers around the desk metaphorically and think they’re working hard,” and “It’s about working hard.” didn't come off well, considering where she is and who she's speaking to. She certainly can't read a room. She talks about the famous 'Bethenny Clause' and did you know that she was the first person ever to do bottle signing? Bethenny LOVES to talk about the Bethenny Clause, but Housewives who were already successful coming into the show did similar things before the Bethenny Clause and Skinnygirl had yielded any fruit. For example a number of already successful housewives created expansive LLCs that would and could do nearly everything under the sun. They stuck some or all of their existing assets in the new LLC and negotiated a contract that NBC Universal was not entitled to a portion of the profits of the LLC for existing or future products or developments of the LLC. LVP and Ken created Pinky Beverly Hills LLC about 2 weeks before she signed her contract and they stuck every one of their joint business assets in there. TomTom is in there. Vanderpump rose and sangria are in there. Kandi did the same exact thing. OLG is in her corporation. Skinnygirl sold in 2011. LVP began negotiations and filming RHoBH in late 2009. Kandi joined RHoA in early 2009. There is little reason to believe that Bethenny was busy crowing about a contract provision that had yet to result in any dividends. So Bethenny can't claim LVP and Kandi were copying her. There were clearly others before Skinnygirl hit big who thought to do the same thing. Bethenny is just the first broke bitch who thought to do it. Ramona may have even done the same, but I have little interest in investigating it. 8 8 Link to comment

As much as we joke about that narcissist Luann somehow managing to drown in the reflection of her own cabaret poster, Bethenny's ego, narcissism, performative compassion, and aggression make her a fascinating, but terrible person. People condemn her for filming all of Cookie's last hours; she attacks her critics. Tinsley talks about losing her dog and calling 911; Bethenny laughs at Tinsley and treats her like a piffle. Bethenny caterwauls about being homeless and tortured, but doesn't have a single decent thing to say to Kristen whose husband demeaned and cheated on her, Jules' husband who cheated on her and gaslit her for a season, or Tinsley whose boyfriend beat her into the hospital. I'm left to conclude that what Bethenny meant by changing the conversation was her departure so we don't have to suffer through any more scenes of her being a hypocritical hosebeast. Bethenny cares about women, cocktails, shapewear, jeans, popcorn, and deli meat as much as Elizabeth Holmes cares about science and healthcare. 1 20 Link to comment

I hate the word "porn" to describe attractive imagery of anything. I also think fondling is a negative word and I have never heard it used in a positive context. I saw the Bryn groping video today (clip on Wendy Williams) and I was completely and utterly appalled. She was aggressively squeezing her mothers breasts and moved to hold on and continue when Bethenny moved. Bethenny is sick. End of story. Even on Below Deck this week, one of the female stews was told by a male deck hand (with a crush on her, and in whom she had no interest) to smile more. She mentioned, afterward, how no one ever goes up to a man and says "you should smile more". BTW, her retort "You should be funnier" was epic. Is this the unit with one of the bedrooms in the middle that has no window, so, to compensate, there are frosted glass walls to allow natural light in from the living room/hallway while providing some semblance of privacy? That unit had a railroad apartment feel to it. Very icky to me. If it’s one block from Canal? Canal is noisy, dirty, and there is soooo much litter. Why did she buy it? If anyone remembers the season, I am willing to go back and rewatch and then report back. Is that the season she and Carole took a stroll in Chinatown, and people butchered Carole for her reaction to lavender ice cream? I agree that if you have the cash/credit score to buy a unit in the 7 digits, you will buy a good apartment. You don’t need to compromise. 3 Link to comment

Ramona has nailed Frankel big time at least once on screen. Reduced her to a gobsmacked puddle on the Brooklyn Bridge. They are both wretched, horrid individuals, but Frankel irks me more, somehow. Maybe because she never shows us a truly selfless moment. We always ultimately see that her wanting to control everyone’s perception of her drives her behavior and every thought. I would love Ramona to announce that Frankel is no real estate maven. 3 7 Link to comment

Ramona handled her divorce better, priced and timed the marketing of her condo better. She's a better mother. Ramona is annoying but Bethenny is worse IMO. 16 Link to comment
SuprSuprElevated October 25, 2019 Share October 25, 2019 (edited) For some reason, I'm bothered by Ramona more than BF. I think it's because she doesn't even try to hide her superiority disorder. She doesn't just think she's better than most, she knows it and is happy to tell you all about it. Grant you, I wouldn't walk across the street and spit on either of them, were they aflame. Lu is actually on this list also, heading to #2, with a bullet. Not crazy about Sawnya, but she's actually too stupid to let her spend time in my head rent-free. AuntieDiane6 October 25, 2019 Share October 25, 2019 Quote Apologies. I cannot keep her real estate straight. Is this the unit with one of the bedrooms in the middle that has no window, so, to compensate, there are frosted glass walls to allow natural light in from the living room/hallway while providing some semblance of privacy? That unit had a railroad apartment feel to it. Very icky to me. Didn't she also buy an apartment with that Million Dollar Listing guy? Did that one sell? Link to comment

A Ramona/Bethenny contest...I find Ramona's narcissism less refined, but I also tend to give her a little leeway bc I think her split from Mario really rattled her. I believe she was silently putting up with cheating until he behaved so blatantly it became impossible, and this was not how she pictured she would enter her 60's. I believe the same about Lu - both she and Ramona completely fail any test of self-awareness so their efforts to cover up how miserable they might feel fall short. They're both extremely invested in what they perceive as their social standing and I just cannot understand any female out of high school who has patience for that crap. But I felt (up until the last couple of seasons) like somehow their substance could be resurrected. Bethenny is obviously image-first in the way that people are who constantly tell you what they are, whether or not that narrative fits the reality. But I don't see any understanding or heartache there. I know everything we've heard, every crying jag we've seen. And I know all women express themselves differently. But I've never watched or heard Bethenny approach anything with real kindness. I don't mean being generous - I mean just stopping and not hijacking a situation as her own. I do believe Jill had a bit of motherly consideration for her friends, but what Bethenny accused her of - keeping score and not letting anything go? I believe Bethenny leads with that and that's why I find her so much harder to watch than the other two. Sonja, as delusional as she is, may as well be on the moon at this point. 16 Link to comment
