Bethenny Frankel: Skinny Girl

I definitely think Bethenny is in serious danger of becoming the next NeNe Leakes if she doesn’t play her cards right. NeNe bought into her own hype as well after she got opportunities outside of the show, and ended up alienating most of her former cast mates and Bravo in the process. I’m not sure how well NeNe is doing these days especially since she left the show, but somehow I doubt she’s nearly as economically stable as she’d like everyone to believe she is; her stock is plummeting as fast as her star dims.

Hopefully Bethenny has a great deal of that money squirreled away and invested well for if/when Skinnygirl ever goes under, because this ongoing divorce and her bad real estate ventures could easily bankrupt her if she’s not careful.

Agreed.

I guess it makes me a bad person to say I'd feel a level of satisfaction and be somewhat entertained watching Bethenny spiral.  With Nene, it was mostly sad for me.

But, it's wierd. Watching in hindsight - and now knowing things about Jill's bad behavior and Bethenny's "cunningness" and shady press antics (according to Kelly Bensimone), the strategy these women used to stay relevant is amazing.  They come off a certain way on camera but they are clawing and fighting to retain their positions on the show behind the scenes.  It's all happening, just below the surface, but the women did a good job of masking it for the camera.

I suspect that Ramona, Luann, and Sonja have somewhat of a deal to help each other be successful on the show because they sort of know they need each other.  Don't air my dirty laundry and I won't air yours, show up at my events, etc. This is probably true across the cities though.

I always blamed Jill for starting the trend of Page Six norifications, to the point I was almost surprised when Heather Thompson answered 'Bethenny' when asked what castmember was most likely to feed info to the press.

I absolutely think Ramona, Lu & Sonja keep a LOT in the vault for each other. But they get so resentful and messy on camera that some of it always spills out. The franchise this tactic is really failing is BH. They focus on 1 castmember to destroy while never revealing anything about themselves, thinking showing up in the same outfit is a storyline.

Bethenny's bikinis are all fitted with paparazzi homing devices.  Apparently.

When I heard that Bethenny was starting to sell sex toys, I just rolled my eyes.  I have no moral problem with sex toys, but her “brand” is all over the place.  How to you go from liquor, lunch meat, jeans and vitamins to sex toys?  Can’t help but think she knows how well Kandi Burress from ATL did with her products.  It just seems as thought she slaps her name on anything that comes her way.  The problem is that the RHNYC was her exposure and made her relevant.  Now, not so much.

I always thought that Bethenny had something to do with Heather leaving the show.  I didn’t think she left of her own accord.  Heather never said anything so well as “Bethenny was a know it all”.  That was so on point.

Yes, yes it is. The queen bee of successful entrepreneurs everywhere, just slap your name on everything and it will be successful. How many people will be influenced by having a  “SkinnyGirl” logo on their sex toy(s). Asking for a friend 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤓

Definitely not anymore. He made comments after the interview that made it obvious that he was not pleased. I love Danny too. He is trying to be so sweet and she just crushes him.

Here is the interview. Bethenny is so far up her own ass it's just so cringy. Poor Danny. She made him feel like shit. She lost alot of followers after this.

I listened to the podcast this morning.  Thanks for the link.  She is one of the most, if not THE most, arrogant person I have ever heard.  When she says “I’m good at it” in regard to the podcast, eye roll 🙄!  Didn’t she say that about real estate?  I don’t think she made a profit on any one of her properties.  I have never heard Jeff Bezos, Bill Gates, Mary Barra, Richard Branson or other brilliant business people, speak with such haughtiness.  I never listened to any of her podcasts and I don’t think I ever will.

I enjoyed her on RHNYC, perhaps because her aggressive, hubristic belief in her own self-proclaimed genius was peppered by comedy and diluted by the other women.

...Emmeline, you are thinking like a real person with real smarts. That won't fly. You gotta think like Frankelstein does.

Assume "lunch meat" is one of Bethenny's "metaphors" and it all makes sense: you down some liquor, reach for the lunch meat in a pair of jeans (while taking a vitamin to give you the energy to ride the sexy-time rodeo) and then you grab Sonja's dishwasher-cleaned sex toy, and suddenly, the whole mess is TOTALLY on brand!

Amen to all that!!

Although I think Bethenny really missed the boat on making her Skinny Girl brand somehow seamlessly fit into this adult toy-based narrative.
Skinny Girl sex toys? Nahhh...Skinny Girl lubricant though?? Uh-huh!! Zero calorie edible lubricants and body lotions should’ve been her main focus here, if you ask me.

Would’ve been far more “on brand” than her trying to get in on Kandi’s sex toys-based business mojo, although maybe she could come up with some nice Skinny Girl vibrator chicken recipes while she’s at it.

Right??? Danny always takes a campy reverential tone with his guests. All other guests laugh when Danny says:

"I'm so honored to have you here!"

(then they tell Danny they're big fans and thank him for supporting their shows)

Bethanny's response to it?

"I know."

Girl, get over yourself.

My mother is one of the most compassionate individuals I’ve ever known. She always tells me that this behavior is masking some hurt or trauma. I try to apply her wisdom when I deal with people in my life. But with Frankel, I just CANNOT.

Some sucker actually paid $299 for this shit.

https://www.cameo.com/v/5fb748881e84a9001d517e42

She even manages to get a promo for her new show and podcast in here.

And now this:

https://okmagazine.com/exclusives/bethenny-frankel-the-big-shot-behind-the-scenes-drama/

I would be FURIOUS if I paid $299 for a cameo and the person used it as an opportunity to self-promote as Bethenny did so shamelessly.  And she clearly made no effort to look nice for it either - glasses, no makeup and bad roots, in the car on the way to something else.  Unbelievable.  Yet another example of how she makes everything about herself.  It's also an example of her management style - all she talks about is the "Don'ts".  It's all negative.  She should be offering a message of encouragement and the Do's.  UGH.  I cannot.  I loathe her.

Bethenny Shame-brags us all, guys! 2020 was Awesomest for her!

I spent months not in a place of Yes, but in A Place of No-Fucking-Way.  I was angry and depressed and made no attempt to accomplish the unaccomplishable.  I was drained just getting through a single fucking day. Too wired making it to midnight without the dreaded Getting-That-Phonecall about a loved one;  too inundated emotionally to grapple with the impossible.  I guess I wasted 2020, wasted the Year of Frankelly personal growth  -  too busy gaining ten pounds, too busy taking my husband's hand when my nerves hummed,  too busy kissing my pup's nose  (Who's the best pandemic pup? YOU ARE!!)  while counting my family and friends - still safe and sound - before I went to bed: a bookie at the track, my lucky numbers coming up. Every ordinary end of every unordinary day more than enough to qualify as "accomplishing the unaccomplishable" if only because we made it though alive.

I wish I could love your post eleventy-billion times.

She "helped accomplish the unaccomplishable"? She eradicated Covid? ended racism? Cured Alex Trebek's cancer so he could host Jeopardy for another 35 years?

I've spent my year trying to maintain some modicom of sanity in the household with 2 teenagers "learning" virtually. I fear they've become nocturnal. Fortunately, Mr Darling has been going in to work, or the sanity thing could be a lost cause. I am a bit concerned, though, that (at least) one employee at the wine store recognizes me with my mask on.

(It just struck me how valuable these kinds of forums are. Being able to snark on someone without repercussion takes the edge of daily life off a little bit. BF makes it easy, so in a wierd way, she has done me some good.)

Me three.  Well said, @film noire.  Bethany has reached Farrah TM levels of stupidity and tone deafness with her post.  Bethany and Farrah share porn and realityTV pasts, are “strong female entrepreneurs” and are raising emotionally damaged daughters.  Perhaps they should get a show together.  A Dumb and Dumberer of narcissistic famewhores.

The cashier at my wine store always says “Having a party?” and I am always a little embarrassed to respond “no”.  Jeez, he works at a wine store doesn’t he know how freakin delicious it is???

@film noire it was truly the beat summary of what us normal (or not Bethenny) people have been thru. It’s nice to know that I’m not alone.

Its definitely been the year of wine and whine at our house.

Bethenny is just awful but I really enjoy snarking on her. Poor Brynn, I hope she stands a chance of being a normal, well adjusted adult.

It really is stunning to me just how unaware she is about how awful she is.  I have a mean streak, I tend to be confrontational, I too often won't accept 'no' for an answer, and I guess (according to my husband) I won't let things go, BUT, I know all of these things about myself, and am continually striving to moderate, often unsuccessfully.  Point is, I would have to experience a complete existential shift, or maybe survive getting mowed down by a transit bus, to put myself out there as some sort of role model for human behavior.

It constantly amazes me that there are so many women/people who will fawn over celeb-u-dolts, to the detriment of the rest of us.  Maybe if her Instagram followers would wake up and quit telling her and other "influencers" (gah!) how fanfuckingtastic they are despite all evidence to the contrary, our society would stand a chance.

I won't live to see it.

Bethenny's "lack of vanity" and humbleness, remind me of a bit John Cleese did on stupidity:

"If you're very very stupid, how can you possibly realize that you're very very stupid? You'd have to be relatively intelligent to realize how stupid you are,"  He cites a Cornell professor who has pointed that "In order know how good you are at something, it requires exactly the same skills as it does to be good at the thing in the first place. Which means,..., that if you are absolutely no good at something at all, then you lack exactly the skills that you need to know that you're absolutely no good at it."

eta: there are several things that I am well aware that I am shit at, so I have to disagree with the professor, or does that mean I'm, at least somewhat, intelligent?

Film Noire please tell me you make a living with your remarkable gift for words. More than us chickens at Primetimer need to experience the pleasure.

I used to read the The Washington Post first thing every morning. Now it's a quick glance at CNN online, followed by more leisurely perusal of these forums. I definitely spend more time on the forums that I do actually watching the housewives. My loved ones don't understand my hogging of the DVR space, only to FF through most of it.

The voice and power of rich celebrities, athletes, broadcasters, tv personalities is staggering. They work hard to get what they have (many/most of them, anyway) and I give them that, but to then turn around and proselytize to the public about how we should live our lives, etc. is offensive.

What is worse, though, is how the public gives them that power by hanging on to every word and movement they make.

I listened to a podcast of one of Sonja's former interns. If I remember correctly, she had a double major with one something to do with marketing and/or communications. She wrote a paper about social media and celebrity in which she talked about how when we respond favorably to a person or thing via social media with likes, subscriptions, etc., we are essentially given those people or things free advertising.

I don't follow any celebrities on social media - not even Bravocelebrities. I don't want to give them more power and influence than they already have.  They get enough from me by my viewing habits and forums like this. That's plenty. I don't care to give them any more.

We are overly influenced by celebrities via the media, and it is a little frightening at times, but that's on us, "the fans".

I'd venture to say that since she returned in season 7, B has a direct hand in who stays and who goes. It was why I couldn't stand the show by season 10. She was part producer part casting director, and everyone was terrified of her.

B didn't like Heather - gone.

B thought Kristen was dumb - gone.

B was "triggered" by Jules and projected like a mofo onto her - gone.

Sonja groveled after the Tipsy Girl fiasco to get back into B's good graces or she would have been gone.

Dorinda groveled every time she upset B so she could keep her apple. Until finally she lost both Radzi and B and spiraled out of control with rage and jealousy against a ray of sunshine like Tins.

I'd venture to say if B could have gotten Lu and Ramona fired, she would have. But Ramona is her perfect nemesis/foil and keeps a good storyline going, which fits B's agenda. And Lu imploded to the point where Beth could play God on camera, so she wasn't going for Lu's head (just insulting her left and right and hoping to compromise Lu's sobriety).

And then there was the real powder keg of what happened with Carole. The Peabody winner saw the writing on the wall and got the hell away from Bethenny Frankel before Bethenny could pull any more machinations.

I think B should just be an exec producer for RHNYC - she's pulling half the strings behind the scenes anyway.

Saw this on Twitter.  I always thought B was angry about Carol spending so much time with her friend that summer. It makes sense, however, I think Carol was over B by the time she returned to NYC.  I don’t think think She was blindsided because Carol didn’t seem to care that much at that point.08FFA64B-D8CD-42C0-8841-3C27CBC3DB06.thumb.jpeg.929bd536e177427360662fe19a02ab0c.jpeg

That said I do think it’s odd for Carole to respond.

I dunno, Biak - if she didn't respond, she'd have people pestering her to respond, so why not get there first?

Because it gives the story more traction. The initial post was out and about for a bit and she’s just amplifying it again and she insists she doesn’t like drama and all that nonsense.

I believe the story 100 %. Bethenny uses everyone. She used Carole. She used Dennis even after his death which was so disrespectful to his family. She used Dorinda to connect with Hilary Clinton when she wanted her for her podcast. She used Paul for his connections and experience with people in production to push through her BigShot show. She is very calculating in her relationships, lying about, trashing and dumping people who don't feed into her ego and attempts to present herself as the Best, First and most Innovative at everything she does. This is her end goal, to make herself the centre of the universe. Just listen to her podcasts, and especially the one with Danny Pellegrino where she showed her true colours. She treated him like shit. She burns through people. Just ask Fredrik, her parents, her friends, her former castmates, her ex partners. She is now left with Dorinda and Sonja (who I see frequently avails herself of free Skinnygirl products to promote)

Hats off to @HunterHunted for being brave enough to say it on Reddit. Now when you google "Bethenny" the other side of the feud with Carole is out there.

@HunterHunted, is this your Reddit post?

Yes, I know Carole prefers to avoid the drama, but I am glad she let someone set the record straight. That reunion in which Frankel hovers over her shrieking while Andy seems delighted and the ensuing tabloid articles upset me.
I wanted Carole’s side of the story. When she denied being “close friends” with Tinsley, it disappointed me and seemed to strengthen Frankel’s position.

But after Carole and Frankel’s friendship ended, Frankel gloated. She’s probaby still gloating and rolling her eyes, but maybe it will enlighten some viewers.

@hoodooznoodooz it is.

Bethenny uses everyone. Dorinda was a messy chaotic drunk that Bethenny didn't want to be associated with in season 10, but then was stealth besties with as Bethenny used Dorinda to wage a shadow war with Tinsley during season 12, even as Dorinda's messy chaotic drunken behavior escalated. Bethenny and Dorinda have been hanging out even after Dorinda's drunkenness got her ass fired given an involuntary break because Bethenny's got a podcast now and is now willing to concede that Richard, a slightly powerful man who was slightly political, might actually have connections to somebody actually powerful and actually political who Bethenny might want to interview on her podcast.

I'm sure Bethenny is back with Paul because some other better romantic entanglement didn't work out for her.

Kadooz  to everyone above.

Bethenny no matter what you do or “achieve” you will never be the absolute baller and genius your father was, nor will you fill the void of your parents love that you rant about.

I was never more pissed than watching the ski trip where Carole told the whole Jason Hoppy story, carrying Bethennys water  when Bethenny was under a gag order. I still wonder when Carole realized how she had been used.

She’s such a horrible human being. And the biggest hypocrite. I’m wondering what kind of arguments with an older Bryn we will hear about.

Some articles are calling you the Source, HH. I don’t mean to add to your anxiety, but there seem to be a lot more people who do NOT doubt you.

The Skinnygirl fans can mosey over to HSN today as the "Today's Special" is a "Skinnygirl Sundazed Mouj Sweater Cardigan" ... which IMHO is just a tad on the, er, Uglygirl side, featuring wide horizontal stripes that nicely accentuate the hips. I clicked on the video presentation, gamely hosted by a somewhat unenthusiastic gal who tells us that while she would normally wear an XL or a 1X, she was able to size down to a Large, which is the oldest trick in the designer market - vanity sizing. She explains that Skinnygirl isn't about being skinny - it is in fact about embracing your curves, and thinking "I'm a Skinnygirl" in your head. Or is it "skinny girl?" This started to confuse me, and that made my head hurt, because I am not going to purchase this fugly "oversized" "mouj" schmatta, and as a size Large, do I even WANT to venture into even THINKING I could POSSIBLY wear a size MEDIUM???? Because "medium" is NOT skinny!! You can't fool me there.

But I DID want to let the Frankel Fans know about her latest fashion "splash" were - rush on over to pick one up today and today only!! (Until it's in the Clearance Bin.) Only $45 "and change" with a retail value of $89!!!! Such a deal. Hey, Beth - do I get a cut of your profits for the Shout-Out???

It really was a mistake to use that Skinnygirl name for everything Bethenny was trying to sell. It was fine for food, drinks, vitamins and supplements. Maybe for shapewear. But the other stuff...that's a branding mess. What's "skinny" about face cream, candles, hair products, sweaters, jackets, and shirts? From the moment she realized that she was going to start developing product lines where "skinny" made zero sense in the branding, she really should have come up with and developed an alternative brand like "SG by Bethenny," "B Real," or "BF by Bethenny" to stick all of those products in. Many people have said it before and I'm going to say it again that it was a mistake not to do that. That "Skinnygirl" name is just an albatross on those other products.

My goodness that's an ugly sweater.

True story: on this website, I used to see ads for comfortable, mom-friendly, yet still funky, hip, slightly edgy clothing with aesthetically pleasing color combinations. Then I clicked on the link for Frankel’s frumpy, Benjamin-Moore-paint-chip-inspired sweaters. Now I see ads for outfits a court jester might wear or something that we could mistake for a sports team uniform.
