The queens must makeover Drag Race superfans. But there’s one thing… the superfans have no idea what’s about to happen to them. Actress Daisy Ridley (Star Wars) guest judges.

Airs May 1, 2020.

I love Crystal a little more every week. She is pure joy. I would have preferred to see Crystal win, but Jaida did a fantastic job (both in the competition and in the pairings). I was so worried that Sherry would ruin the season, so very pleasantly surprised to see how talented and lovable the other queens are. Also love that there are no bullies (other than real life Sherry) hanging around and creating unnecessary drama.

This season is only going to get more and more awkward, because it looks like (imo) Gigi is starting to fade and only so much editing can spin an underdog storyline for Crystal. Sherry Pie is *so clearly* a solid contender and it will only become more obvious the fewer queens there are. Too bad he's a literal garbage human being, because he is putting on a clinic on how to optimize your drag for a successful RPDR run.

I was worried for Jaida's drag daughter for a minute, she was so cautious and introverted I couldn't see how she could transform into an Essence Hall. But Jaida cleverly played it up as the overbearing mother escorting her child to their drag debutante ball, loved it!

I am super disappointed that Heidi appears to have thrown her hands up at the idea of customizing an outfit for her drag daughter. No excuse. To not even think about painting a gap when she's been playing it up all season...I agree with Ru, what did Heidi spend so much time doing?

Do they film the confessionals before the main stage? Because I swear Jackie's beard is less obvious in the talking heads than on the main stage. It reminds me of Willam and his beard denial.

I think Gigi is fabulous, but the dragover outfits were just about the easiest, least effort thing ever. They looked great, but seriously, a coat a wig and a hat. That's it. No effort, no creativity, nothing. Glad no one went home though, but I fear for Heidi next week.

How awesome is it that fans who thought they were going to be an audience got to do this, and they were all so into it!

I disagree with the judges about Sherry tonight (even if we didn’t know how terrible the behind-the-scenes Sherry has been):  Sherry’s look for her and her drag superfan were sooooooooo predictable.  They were fine, but it’s pretty much exactly what I would have expected Sherry to come up with when the challenge was announced, which to me is about the worst crime a drag queen can commit on the show.  I’d rather see somebody try something creative and fail, but pie-selling waitress in a 1950s costume is pretty much what you’d expect if Sherry Pie was a cartoon character like Charlie Brown who never changed her outfit.

GiGi, much as I like her, was nearly the same thing:  Sherry and GiGi made fine costumes but fine in the sense of wow, were they just yeah, fine, okay.  Really, I think either of them should have been in the bottom rather than Jackie, because I could actually see more of an attempt at a “take” in Jackie’s looks rather than just falling back on the expected.

Jaida made her superfan look spectacular and totally unlike she had before.   Crystal not only went for creative on the look, she obviously had worked out the best overall act with her partner— they had all sorts of great moves.  The Bert and Ernie thing could have been a disaster but it was so fun.  I like how this season is turning into the rise of unexpected frontrunners.

The judges obviously wanted to be nice to Heidi’s superfan, who did look good, but I was kind of shocked at how Heidi had obviously put more thought into her own look than into her fan’s.  What happened, Heidi?  I love Heidi, but, wow, she could have put a little more effort into the look for her (very nice) partner.  ETA:

Crystal was robbed.

(And I like Jaida and would be happy if she wins the whole season.)

If any episode called for a well-deserved tie, it was this one.

Really fun episode! Usually they telegraph a "no loser this week" scenario a mile away, but for some reason I didn't see it coming this time.

Jaida's makeup skills are impressive, and her bonding with her drag daughter was so sweet. All the superfans were adorable.

I am living for Jaida and Heidi's confessionals.

I wish Heidi had given Nicole a better outfit for the runway. Heidi came out all sparkly and shiny while Honey looked like she was wearing something from her own closet.

Jackie and Tiffany's looks were fine but not outstanding. I just wanted more. Their outfits looked like what you'd see at a sorority disco themed party - you can tell they made an effort to match but it's not something you would remember since it was so ho hum.

Jaida and Bethany were one of my favorite runway looks because the outfits were similar without being too matchy and they had a family resemblance without looking like twins.

Crystal's Ernie and Bert runway look was so silly but totally on brand for her weirdness. I loved that Grace was so into it.

Gigi Goode and Bebe Bad get points for the perfect matching drag name. Gigi did a great job on the makeup. Shea looked so gorgeous. I really enjoyed the way they interacted on the runway. I agreed with the critique of their outfits though. Well executed but such a simple concept.

I thought it was fun to let the superfans lip sync. You know those girls were living for the opportunity to be on the main stage.

I was fine with both Heidi and Jackie staying. This was the first lip sync this season where both queens were really going for it.

I did feel bad for Heidi in this challenge.   She posted on Twitter last night the costumes she brought for this challenge,  and her superfan would never have fitted into it.  She had to come up with a plan B on the fly while the other queens got to use what they had days to make or have made before the competition.   She could have sewn new costumes in the Werk Room, but in the time given they would not have been great.   I think she did the best she could with what she was given compared to the rest of the queens.   She made her superfan feel great.  Saving both her and Jackie in this challenge was the right call.

When Heidi's daughter came out on stage, I gasped, in a bad way. I don't care if the outfit Heidi had planned didn't fit. Heidi should have planned for that possibility, honestly. They are often given partners who are different sizes and they should know they might need to come up with something else on the fly. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE Heidi, and she did amazing makeup for her makeover. But she really just gave up on the costume and it was shockingly bad. That dress was not drag, at all.

These queens know there will be a makeover challenge, so Heidi should have brought a costume that would fit the larger end of the scale that she could tailor as need be. There’s no excuse for that look. It was terrible. That dress had to belong to Jackie because it fits her 60’s mod aesthetic she often goes for.

I thought Jaida did the best with the makeup overall, and her super fan was totally transformed both in appearance and in personality,  but part of me still wanted Crystal to win just for the sheer joy she brought to the stage. That Bert and Ernie act was adorable and so fun.

I figured Mama Ru would not want to send anyone home in front of the superfans.  That being said, Heidi totally deserved to go home. That was atrocious and her superfan deserved better than that horrible outfit. Also, Heidi's makeup embarrasses me and I don't even wear much makeup so I have no room to talk.

Gigi is the definition of "resting on pretty".

I can't believe Sherry keeps getting praised for the same look over and over and over. She is so boring. I wouldn't like her even if she was a decent human being.

I'm rooting for Jaida to win this thing. I loved everything about her in this episode. I want her to be my drag mother!

The show got me so good!  Heidi and Jackie, two of my favorites, were a combo I was dreading in the bottom.  I spent part of the episode thinking, "this is going so well, I wish no one had to go home."  During the lip sync, I thought they were both great, but the judges seemed to like Jackie more.  So when Heidi was called safe, I was surprised but resigned.  Then, five second later, I literally gasped and my heart started beating fast  What can I say?  There hasn't been much entertainment these past several weeks. 😉

That was a great song too.  I haven't really kept up with Alex Newell since forcing myself to watch the last several seasons of "Glee," but that was a jam.  The closed captioning had the song credited to "Alexis"!  I think not, thanks.  I'm fortunate to be able to hear well enough to catch most everything, but I wish they could assign someone who knows queer culture to a show like this.  A lot of references end up jumbled on this show.

I couldn't've been happier to see Crystal and Jaida both succeed so thoroughly.  With a less openminded partner, Crystal's makeover could've been a big disappointment, but they vibed so nicely together.  I might've picked her to "win" the lip sync between the partners.  Heidi really needs to stay out of the bottom next week: I believe no queen has ever survived a fourth lip sync before the finale.  As for Gigi, while she continues to be gorgeous and pleasant enough, I still find that she's not showing us much beyond pretty.  I scoff when people say this about politicians, but she's the one I'd least like to have a beer with.

I'm finding the Sherry edit pretty seamless in the moment.  When I pull back and think about how annoying it is that she's glided along to the top, it's there, but during the episode, her presence is really so minimal that I can enjoy it.  That was a great pivot.

I used to work with Janet...the Planet.  Super creative, really sweet.  It was a shock to see her.

I love Crystal, but I wouldn’t have been happy about being Bert, I’d rather have more pinup glamour like Jada’s team.

I don’t think Jackie should’ve been in the bottom.

Generally, the makeover challenge is my least favorite, but this was one of the better ones.

Jaida's been my favorite since the beginning and I'm glad she's really shining. She's just so good at everything.

Crystal's runway looks had me cracking up. I lost a lot of my sense of humor after years of depression, but this queer(er) Bert&Ernie had me in stitches. I'm still laughing about it while typing this.

Gigi's looks tend to be on the simpler side, but in no way are they plain. My favorite of her looks was the lesbian biker getup in her first episode. She's still young and she'll continue refining her craft BUT this challenge look seemed just a little too easy. It's like when the drag race contestests have meet&greet looks. No tucking or cinching required.

We can just replace [redacted] with Janet The Planet in the finals

I wasn't surprised we had two safe queens in the lipsync. I was doing the math in my head at some point during the show and realized there's still so many weeks left until the finale. I  know we would have had to sit through some boring Brita vs Aiden drama at the reunion, but maybe the quarantine will spare us from that particular pain.

What would have happened if this challenge had bigger men instead of women super fans?  Heidi wouldn't have and outfit for them either. I felt bad for her super fan.  That saying, maybe the show could have had something available to use.  So happy it was no elimination, but I think Heidi should have gone home.

I think several of the other Queens would have had the same issue if they had been paired with Nicole  I have no clue what Gigi would have done if she had been paired with her.   The coat shape was forgiving, but it was made for a smaller person

When is the finale?

It's usually done at the very end of May or very beginning of June to coincide with Pride month. It helps the drag racers book $$$ gigs and such. I believe it's scheduled for May 29th.

I'm surprised Michelle hasn't dragged Sherry Pie for her unchanging makeup - those spider lashes, oy! She got on Crystal's case in the second episode if I remember correctly. I'd say she's done it and it was cut, but Sherry keeps showing up with those damn lashes. I'm guessing Sherry was very much being set up for a win, so she wasn't called out.

I love me some Heidi, but that was a terrible misstep. Watching her and the judges tap dance around her partner's size was painful to watch.

Maybe they should have the makeover challenge rules say the looks have to be made from the wall of fabric from Fabric Planet, or whatever. There are too many variables to deal with when trying to bring a premade look. At minimum, if a queen brings her own outfit with that challenge in mind, bring matching or coordinating fabric and accessories and come up with something just for your person.

I like this idea... I think it should be more even of a playing field that either they are all making whole outfits or none of them are.... If Heidi had to spend time sewing and nobody else did because they already had ready to go looks, that's not really a fair challenge.... Especially when she was focused on making her superfan feel happy and loved and wanting to give her a good experience.

I think the dress still had a disco ish vibe- at least some 70s style... would some more glitter have made it even better? Sure, but you've got to make it work with what you've got.

I'm glad they didn't send anyone home for this episode.

I don't get Crystal Method and her whole bert/ernie/clown deal... but that's just me.

Exactly. Gigi even said on Untucked that she had expected her mother to be Bebe Bad.

On the other hand, Heidi did a nice make up job on her "daughter," but I'm not convinced that she would have had the experience to be able to do so on any of the other fans, unlike Jaida, who can apparently make up anyone (she did mention that she had worked as a makeup artist, and it showed.)

If the Widow von Du were still in the game, then Nicole could have maybe had a better shot at drag family, size-wise.  It really was awful, the nightshirt she had wear to walk the runway.  It was not remotely "disco."

jackie Cox and Tiffany were a complete mismatch in every way.  I would have probably paired Tiffany with Heidi, Nicole with Sherry, and Janet with Jackie.

I think Heidi is just not too creative. The name. "Borrowing" ideas from Ru. She didn't even paint a gap on Nicole. Did she paint one when she portrayed Madonna? If she did, it's only because the other ladies were doing it

I was scared for Heidi because those outfits really were a mismatch and I knew she would be in the bottom the minute she and Honey stepped onto the runway. I agree she should have anticipated the possibility of a larger drag daughter, and maybe she did, but just not that particular body type. There are so many different shapes of people that it would be hard to anticipate them all! Gigi probably came the closest to fitting anyone with that shapeless fur shift, which is why I think it was a smart choice, even if the judges found it too simple.

But, Heidi, Heidi, WHY did you not think to paint on a tooth gap?? That would have made up for so much.  I’m liking the name Heidi Aphrodite, though. Hope it sticks.

I, too, appreciated the non elimination week, and not just because I didn’t want to lose either Heidi or Jackie. It’s like on Project Runway when they design for “real people”— you get situations where some woman is loving her new custom dress but then the judges slam it and send the designer home. Not only does that tarnish the woman’s experience, it makes her feel guilty for participating in the designer’s demise. Same here— no Superfan wants to be the one who helped send her queen packing. Unless it’s Janet the Planet... knowing what she knows now, I think she might be thrilled! Superfan? No, Superhero!

Justice for Janet the Planet!  She was a really good drag daughter (she mimicked Sherry Pie's mannerisms really well).  I would have loved to see how she performed with another non-sketchy queen (and of course, in a universe where no other superfan had to be paired up with Sherry Pie).

I’m in the minority because I hated Crystal’s runway, if I was made over to be Bert, and the other women got to look glamorous, I’d be fuming.

I don't know, I thought the Bert and Ernie act was fun and memorable.  Plus, her superfan mentioned that she was a kindergarten teacher.  So I could see how this would be a good fit for her personality.  Plus, she could show this to her students if she wanted.

Overall, I thought Crystal edged Jaida out on the makeover/transformation but I think Ru gave Jaida extra points for not trying to screw over any of the superfans with her pairings.

Lastly, count me in the group that thought Gigi's outfits were too simple.  I think if anyone else had done something so simple, they would have ended up in the bottom.

Heidi Afrodite is what the chyron said, which is very clever.

I thought Heidi's deag daughter look would have been good if they went for a 1960s theme. The drag daughter's look had a real hippy dippy feel and if Heidi had gone with big Afros and if she had put herself in bell bottoms and added shades and love beads it could have worked. I thought the shape of her drag daughters dress was really flattering and if she could have made that same shape, which seems like a pretty simple sew, in a sparkly material if would have worked but I still think Heidi made a mistake basing her concept on two different, unrelated, Disco Divas. Even if she could have made the short dres in a sparkly material she needed more similar hair styles and makeup looks. I am glad it was a non-elimination round because I do love Heidi.

I wonder if Heidi really has strong sewing skills.  I remember at one of the earliest challenges thinking that perhaps she didn't, but can't remember now why I thought that.

Personally I thought Jackie's daughter's makeup was really not very good, and not that different from the makeup she came in wearing.  I didn't think her look transformed her at all into anything other than someone who was a bit more heavily made up than usual (and honestly thought that wig she had on was abominable).  I also didn't think their outfits particularly matched.  I wasn't really surprised Jackie was in the bottom 2.

I'm tired of Gigi showing up with perfectly tailored costumes pre-made by her costume designer mother and her mother's associates. Each one of them probably has a coordinating garment bag for them. Where's the creativity in this?

I feel it shows to the preparation that has to be done to participate in RPDR.  It's ridiculous in this late stage in the show to not be able to sew!  The queens know what to prepare for, yet could be thrown a curve ball in the midst of the competition. I can imagine that Gigi came with trunks of premade outfits and accessories; could she fit all of that stuff in her hotel room? It also makes sense why she was wearing so many bodysuits.  Michelle would usually clock girls who try to take the simple way out to avoid showcasing their lack of sewing skills.

Ru likes when they 'borrow' and use something.  Thats why he'll throw out the suggestions and short of hitting them over the head to use it.  And he'll say so when the queen ends up not using it and has to LSFYL.  So, he is proud when someone borrows, just like he said 'they were listening'

Me too! Been on the love train since the beginning. I was shocked though with how she looked when all her hair was pulled back in a skullcap and not curly around her face.  She looked so different! Like a dude! I would never in a million years, recognize her as Crystal. Lol.  Seriously though, if she ever wanted to go incognito somewhere, shes got both looks.  The one thing that bothers me is when she tries to play coy and hide behind her hair.  That i dont buy.  Shes a smart creative queen.

Wow, I see that now!  I know her well from "Match Game" and other Goodson-Tidman game shows of the 70s and 80s.  Both of them are definitely real originals.

According to a website I just read Gigi designs all of her outfits, along with her mother, and knows how to sew.

Gigi also made a lovely dress on the spot for the ball.

I'm sure she's had a significant amount of input into her outfits - far more than many other contestants who have designed none of the outfits that they brought with them.

To be fair to Heidi, I think it would have been exceptionally difficult to sew something on the spot that could compare with the other queens' outfits. And if she had, it would have given her very little time to prepare for the other aspects of the challenge.

Oh cool, thanks for the tips.  You know who i really miss (besides that awesome group you mentioned) is is is dammit i just forgot Lol.  Ok charades time...he was a regular on match game, sat bottom tier middle seat.  Was very good at the game and very popular.  Also hosted Family Feud for a long time.  Started the 'kiss every woman' movement.  Was in my all time favorite Munsters movie, when they went back home to Europe lol.  He had a smallish part but began his career.  Anybody know yet?
