everyone somehow manages to raise the bar when it comes to the snark.

It astounds me how clever everyone is, it has been hard to have normal conversations with the non PTV people in my life, lol.

Being Witty is a wonderful trait! It brings the entertainment I’ve laughed all week at the adjectives people come out with to descibe these slugs! I can’t get enough!?

What keeps me on this board is the snark in general and the people here (because I also snark at home). There seems to be mostly intelligent, funny, like-minded and thoughtful people that can discuss and joke about things in a nice way, mostly free from trolls (there is one). You don't see that dynamic on the internet much IMO.

So anyway, I appreciate ya'll and also partially blame you for the fact that I'm going to Hell ?

This!  Except that I don't snark at home and only know one person in real life who watches these programs. The life experience of many here and the wit on this forum along with the things that pinkflamingo listed so well make it a gift.

I would watch anyway because these reality people are beyond fascinating but I have to say, I look forward to Sunday nights.  I often laugh so hard, I startle the dogs. Two weeks ago though, in the 'Roni thread, I laughed so hard that one of the dogs came over and started licking me. I think she thought I was wounded.

It's so different than other places. Reddit is amusing but a different vibe and FB seems to be  inhabited by 13 year olds, the "Oh, Pao, you're so pretty!" crew.  Here, roasting these strange people is taken to art form. I savor the snark.  Grateful for all of your contributions.

If you only had Tarik and Ricky to choose from, who would you choose? Derp face or fanny pack?

Trying not to lower the tone too much, it'd have to be Tarik - he has been deprived of sex for a few weeks, so at least it'd be over in a matter of seconds.

This is an easy question.  I'd choose Ricky and tell him we would make love in the ocean waves and I would hold us both afloat with my huge boobies and then I would simply let him go because we all know he can't swim.  I would then swim over the dock and pull myself up, high five the camera crew, and walk away.

There would be a long line of PTV snarkers who would like a chance to high five you as well.

About the snark: I started watching shows simply to understand the posts on TWoP! Then to join in was very heaven (apologies to Wordsworth)!

About the show:

Pole/Kreeeny:

I couldn't grasp what I was seeing at first,  because I was like, "No,  they wouldn't show us THAT,  would they?!" And then, "The doctor couldn't be THAT callous, could he?!" But then I remembered the brutal Reality TV world I had entered....

So I suppose the next installment will have Kreeeny assessing exactly why does she want or need Pole.

Mahkul/Grangela:

Well,  he did "The Bachelor" kneel (albeit not with a "Neil")-and-propose, so Mahkul is officially A Reality TV Idiot. Pendulous Grangela  (who knows that old hens make more flavorful stews than Spring chickens) swoops down faster than a skeeter in a blood bank and accepts! ?

Jon/Rachel:

Hell to the NO,  Jon, about inviting a former gf to ANY event with both you and Rachel, without the explicit consent OF said Rachel. ?

Marta/Who, Again?:

Some families are politicians for generations; some families,  apparently, are strippers. Sometimes the twain meet. ?

The cultural differences  here will prove insurmountable, IMO. Or am I just channeling my inner Sally Field? ?

Angela should just find some dude on Love after Lockup

Why do I suspect she has, or has had in the past, at least one "boyfriend" in prison? Just a hunch.

I look forward to Sunday nights too. I really dig hanging with my PTV peeps! I used to watch stuff like Teen Mom with my son, at least until he graduated high school. His social life got a lot busier after that, and now, of course, he has his own place, so I can't grab him and yell "COME WATCH A SHOW!"

I like PTV because the modding is good and the tone is always polite, like TWOP was. I love that its big enough for a lot of different perspectives but small enough that I can recognize most posters and look forward to reading the insights of people I especially appreciate.

Looking forward to Sunday night! I have a holiday on Monday so I won't even have the lingering unease of "Oh shit I have to get up early tomorrow" hanging over me.

For me, I have been watching the show since season 2 before I knew about this forum and then found this somewhere along the way. The show has changed quite a bit in that time in my opinion. It seems like the biggest drama the show had to offer from seasons ago was the family members that didn't approve of the relationship(s) because they thought it was all a green card scam. Since then, and since Danielle, as one person pointed out, they seem to continually push the limits as to what they can get people to do on camera and get away with showing. I certainly don't seem to remember the sheer amount of gross out moments and general cringeworthy and abusive moments that are being shown now.  Seems like it started going down the rabbit hole and didn't stop, because that is what gets the ratings I guess. It's not just this show but other shows too. Like Dr pimple popper - 100% gross out moments.

Like you I find myself becoming more disturbed by the content in 90 day in many ways, especially abusiveness, and things that show shades of sex tourism. I ask myself the same questions but I also tell myself that the show participants are willing to be shown this way, sign contracts, know by now how they will look, and in many cases are making asses out of themselves on purpose.  This does not include the children being shown that have no say in what their parents are doing, and that is a problem.  I know how ridiculous and almost not believable the show has become but still watch. It's like watching a magic show where you know it's all an illusion but still watch.  You suspend disbelief to enjoy the drama and the snark.  Over time it seems like I pay less attention to the show itself and more attention to this board. What keeps me on this board is the snark in general and the people here (because I also snark at home). There seems to be mostly intelligent, funny, like-minded and thoughtful people that can discuss and joke about things in a nice way, mostly free from trolls (there is one). The first two seasons of the mother 90 Day were shot before the programmed aired. Since then the only real couples, and not reality stars who would marry for that dream, who still participated where those who signed up without watching.

I don't know if I would hire her . . . I was just wondering if it's something she considered.  She seemed more animated with her cousin.  I think she may be overwhelmed with Tarik, Dean, the camera crew, etc.  And there are LOTS of jobs on cruise ships that don't require personality.

I wonder if it has ever occurred to her. She speaks English very well so that would be an asset and help her get a higher position.

I noticed on a couple of cruises that the number of Filipinos was down and the number of Asians was up. And most of them (working in the buffet) had very limited English. One very young girl approached my husband (in my presence) about sponsoring her to come to the US.

Yikes. I wouldn't imagine that something like that is permitted in her employment contract.

Am I the only one so jaded by the "reality" in reality shows that I wondered if the ultrasound scene was take #2?  Krinny had already been told and therefore didn't have much of a reaction when she was on the table.  Dr or ultrasound tech annoyed he had to pretend it was the first time he mentioned the issues?

I think they were just socialist medical system jerks.

For a split second, I thought Angela was going to grow a brain and be the one person this season who shows some common sense. Then, nope. She's engaged.

I'm single and have online dated, and I know how hard it is. I really do. But these people are so desperate not to be alone that they ignore the largest red flags on the smallest chance that the relationship might work out. They're so desperate that they're willing to be pathetic.

And I call bullshit on both the miscarriage scene and the Darcy/Jesse breakup. Both Darcy and Karine knew what was coming. You could see it on their faces. The producers tipped them off, or they did multiple takes of these scenes. Or these scenes were shot after the actual breakup and miscarriage happened.

Regardless, that poor fetus dodged a bullet, and can hopefully come to Earth with better parents in a future life.

Oh, I think jerks abound, period.

They show us this, and we think people can't get any "stupider". Then they show us Unexpected right after, so we can see that 90 Day Fiance barely scratches the surface of dumb and dysfunctional.

I watched unexpected once last year. I was so mortified when I  heard a couple say they weren’t taught sex Ed that I made both of my teenage sons watch it and then reiterated the sex talk. Unexpected horrifies me far more than 90 day fiancé

Interesting point. Everyone does grieve differently but yeah, I would have expected more shock from Karine. And a 2nd take might explain why Paul was already crying tho he claimed not to know the baby was already dead.

Filipinos are Asians. And you can't often tell what country the person is from just by appearance.

Yes, that POV makes sense. I would have expected more incredulity and protest from Darcey being broken up with that way. And more emotion from Karine. The dr was maybe annoyed to have to jump thru the hoops moreso than he was cold.

Angela's acceptance of the proposal was just bizarre.  Howling and yelling "get up, get up!".

Yeah, what was that about. He got down on one knee as men are known to do. Why was she screaming at him to get up? It seemed like she wouldn't say yes until he got up.

re:  Ricky or Tarik

All y'all choosing Ricky (and I totally get why because, well, Tarik exists, so...)... what happens when Ricky comes across this forum and flips the script on us?  Skeezy Ricky starts posting on his various soshul meeejah sites (and as he slides into the DMs of unsuspecting women) that "All the ladies who watch 90DF said they'd rather make sweet sweet love to me more than anyone else that's been on the show! See, they love me! I'm POPULAR!"

I cannot partake in this game of "Would you rather?" lol

I think she used the term "exotic dancers" at some point which might not necessarily entail stripping.

Technically she actually only said that they were "dancers."  She used "exotic dancer" to describe herself only.

*I'm going to just go on assuming exotic because StripperGranny (and ClearHeelsMama) is too fun a nickname to pass up.

That's kind of a gross generalization.  You would never confuse a Filipino for a Chinese or a Japanese, for example.  Most Filipinos are a mix of Asian and Pacific Islander, and a lot have mixed Spanish ancestry from colonial times.  That's why most Filipinos have a very different look than what you would typically call "Asian".

A person could be Filipino with three purely Chinese grandparents and look more like what you imagine Chinese to look like. There are plenty of lighter skinned Filipinos and darker skinned Chinese and people from all sorts of countries a nonnative probably wouldn't be able to identify.

The correct terms, I believe are Southeast Asian (Filipino, Vietnamese, Latioan, Thai, etc,) and Far East Asian (Chinese, Korean, Japanese). But all are most definitely Asians.

Isn’t  exotic dancers just the fancier name for stripper? I think if I’m right there two in the same. Exotic dancer just sounds less sleezy and tramp like.   @Drogo stripper granny is proud!??. She’s encouraging her daughter and bragging about there accomplishments as a gas station bathroom strip club while trying to hinder her Decision to bring a man home that might not approve of there high standards☝?

This is a very good reason for Pole to request genetic testing, which would also reveal to us if he was really the baby's father.

Might it also explain what's wrong with Pole?  If so, that would be wins all around.

I was once unhappily pregnant, and it was very new--five weeks. I had to have one of these. You're right. It was terrifying. That wand is enormous. I imagine if it's a wanted pregnancy, it's probably something you just handwave. But on top of a pregnancy you are not planning to continue, in a set of circumstances that are terrifying themselves, it's another helping of shit cake.

It sounds like you're not very appreciative of the efforts some people are going to to protect your health.

Did Darcey really say that the girls didn't stay over because she and Jesse aren't married? She was on TV cuddling up to to him in bed full of postcoital bliss.  Does she just have to shove the word marry, married, engaged or wedding ring in every situation?

She sure did say that unless I had too much wine,  at first I though she was saying it due to the awkward dinner but she added "You know cuz Jesse and I arent married..."  she shoved the word in even when they were fighting!

That is like saying that you would never confuse an American with a South African. The Chinese of the Philippines, the Tisnoy, are a minority ethnic group, but they are there to confuse you just like those with some African in them that are a minority in America but can confuse you when you learn they are American and not say Nigerian.
