I think Lauren was likely chosen for Si precisely because she's the likeliest candidate to keep him in line. Regardless of that male headship crap they spout, I think many of these females wield more power than they'd like the public to believe (see Michelle).

I get a virus alert when I try to go to their site.

I get that when I try Jill R's side . Except it detects a phishing scam . Fitting in a way .

Hmm, so the rumors say that Si and Lauren are getting married this Sat.  But then JD announces his courtship - which is AMAZING!, but that makes me wonder if the wedding isn't going to happen in 4 days.  I mean, if they are getting married on the 30th, why not wait to announce the courtship of JD until after the wedding????  Because we are all going to be talking about JD and him finding someone and all be like, oh yea, Josiah got married, whatever, back to JD.

IIRC, Joe and Kendra's courtship was announced before Joy's wedding, perhaps due to Joe planning to propose at the wedding. Maybe JD will propose at Josiah's wedding?

Shortest courtship ever, but JD said they fell in love very quickly

My best guess is Boob realized there is absolutely zero interest in the SiRen nuptials and had to play his ace in the hole.

And poor Josiah always looks like he is being forced into something he doesn't want, even though he might be fond of Lauren.

Exactly. I'm sure Lauren is a perfectly nice girl, but the Duggars have had a hard time selling this relationship to the public. She really doesn't strike me as the type Si would go for if he had any control over his dating life.

I guess it's probably because JD and Abbie would be seen there anyway . Better announce it now or Josiah's crucifixion uhm wedding turns into courting speculations .

And Abbie is probably a bridesmaid because she must already be Lauren's special best friend.

SiRen just didn’t have pert enough asses.

I hope JD and Abbie have hit the gym.

I think we are all sad about Josiah being pushed into a marriage he may not want to be in. He could have been so much more by going to a real college and discovering who he really was vs being beaten down at Alert.

This also puts the Duggars back into the media right before the wedding.  All the articles that I have seen have mentioned Josiah and Lauren were engaged and getting married soon.  I’m sure this announcement wasn’t a coincidence, unplanned, or at the detriment of Si.

Annddddd will there be a pregnancy announcement from one of the girls? That would be the icing on the cake.

I think it's possible that JD intends to propose at the wedding. He can't very well propose if we don't even know he's courting. That would put them on track for a September wedding -- which all seems about right to me.

Oh, I really dislike that whole “proposing at someone’s wedding thing.”  It’s the bride and grooms time, let them have their day. And let the newly engaged couple have their own day. Just stop it.

And get off my lawn!

I do too. Personally I'd hate to be proposed to at a wedding because even if the married couple gives the okay, you know the guests are clucking their tongues in disapproval at you for stealing the bride's thunder. Given that Abbie is on the older side for a Fundie bride, she might not be thrilled with a huge spectacle.

I can't argue with you -- it seems really inappropriate to me, too. I wouldn't even have thought of it except that one of them just did it -- Austin? Joe? I bet JB liked it and thought it was "good television" and now he wants JD to do it, too. It's just my two cents.

Joe at Austin's wedding.

I don't think JD would propose at Josiah's wedding. He's always been so quiet and a man of few words. He doesn't seem like the type who'd want to make a huge spectacle about getting engaged. Then again, in the clip I saw announcing the courtship, that was the happiest I'd ever seen JD. He was literally beaming with joy.

Please not Anna or Jill.  Or for the love of all the Gods, not Mechelle.

Love 100%!  Plus, not that it would happen in this world, but could you see the girl proposed to saying No!  Well that's gonna be a downer for the rest of the reception.   But yes, let each have their day!!!!

It's probably going to become a Duggar tradition, like conspicuously kissing your spouse during the recessional.

It's rude, selfish, and crass...sounds like a Duggar tradition.

Michelle is too old to be pregnant.

Merlin I hope so and that there isn't a miracle blessing because, you know, God.  Yes, that thought has kept me up at night.  Of course my last dream was of being slammed into an interior wall of my house by a full grown cow, and yea, well, my brain is weird.  (I was almost trampled to death at the age of 9 by a 2200 lb steer, so the nightmares are very occasional.)

My last dream settled around a long slog of picking from a tray of fruit salad.  (I had just been to a wedding where I had to race out before the reception meal was served in order to make my plane, so it was slightly thematic.)  Why the choosing of the fruit was such an ordeal, has mercifully been left to the passing of time.  I tend to think it involved my office, for some reason, though; so the feelings of panic are logical.

I was thinking the same.  "They're going to make this a damn tradition now".  Just like they do with other tacky shit.  I found out I was pregnant a day before my brothers wedding (this was 17 years ago, but still).  I kept quiet because that was his day.  Later he was annoyed I didn't tell him then (we live several hours apart, I came into town just for his wedding), but I still stand my ground.  It was your day, it's not about me.  So when Joe and Kendra did that, there was a big 'ol eye roll from me.

I didn't see the announcement yet, but can't wait to see.  They both seem matched well from what I know of her.  Both are kind of dorky cute.  I'm happy for him.

Brigitte Nielsen just had one at 54 (I know, fertility treatments). I think if Mullet thought she could get away with it, she'd certainly pursue fertility treatments in a quest for number 20 (Caleb and Jubilee who?).

Actually, she did.  And it was filmed for TLC.  She's pathetic and needs to be medicated.  Too bad her doctor friend lost his license to prescribe narcotics.

I forgot about that visit to the fertility specialist. She made a mistake and visited one with ethics.

Really Michelle didn't pursue fertility treatment.  It was a TLC misdirection.  She didn't go see a reproductive endocrinologist.  She saw an advanced maternal specialist who did routine testing to see if Michelle was in menopause.  TLC did the fertility voice over to mislead the viewers.

Maybe it's just me, but I don't really understand not sharing celebratory news during other celebrations. It's just a moment in time and doesn't take over or erase the current celebration. To me it's just additional happy news, then back to the current scheduled program.

I think it’s just a case of YMMV. In my minds eye, I see all the wedding guests rushing to the newly engaged couple, offering congratulations and hugs and leaving the bride and groom standing, all alone, wondering where the hell everyone went.

That’s why I think let the bride and groom enjoy their day, let people celebrate the newly married couple. Then celebrate the engaged couple’s engagement later. Like next week.

But again, YMMV. Just my humble opinion.

OMG, some of the comments on the IG of Si are hilarious.

Pearls seem sinful to me.  Whaaattt???  If you need to procrastinate today, go read some of the comments.

I just read the comments section. Someone please call 911 because I am on the floor right now dying from laughter. I particularly loved the lady who said she'd never pose with Coke products because of the company's "sinful history." When she mentioned "cocaine" and "cocaine accessories" my mind immediately went to Hank Hill and his propane.

So if I ever visit Silver Dollar City, and I can't imagine why, I need to wear a close fitting tank top that advertises Coke, at least 3 strands of pearls, plus earrings, oh and a hat that has Marilyn Monroe on it. Check.

I refuse to believe the person who objects to Coke on behalf of cocaine is real.  That's clearly a tongue-in-cheek straw woman.  I bet you could stand out on the street asking dozens of people about Coca-Cola's past history, and not find more than one dozen who knows about the cocaine.

I just read pages of comments on Si's Instagram, under the photo of the family dinner.  People were saying that Lauren has an Associate's degree.  I never did find out in what field and I got tired of reading!

Does anyone know if this is true?  If so, well, all of these Duggar men marrying educated women sounds surreal, to use a Duggar term.

I doubt it. Lauren is only 18 or 19. If she has any degree it's probably some useless certificate from a Fundie diploma mill.

One commentor claims she was in a college pyschology class with Lauren.  It was some duel program, where high school kids also attend community college.  In my state, lots of motivated seniors graduate with a high school diploma plus their Associate's degree.  Community college is free as long as they're still enrolled in high school.

I'm not sure how this works with SOTDRT  though!
