Jessa, Ben and Their Brood: Making a (Diaper) Mountain out of a Mold House

The Duggars post about politics on social media frequently, but these social media posts are not an invitation to discuss politics here in this forum. This rule extends to Duggar adjacent families, friends, associates etc. Such discussions are a violation of the Politics Policy.

I understand with recent current events there may be a desire to discuss certain social media postings of those in the Duggar realm as they relate to politics- this is not the place for those discussions. If you believe someone has violated forum rules, report them, do not respond or engage.

I can't believe how beautiful Henry is.  I'm ashamed to admit that I was one of those who thought newborn Henry to have had some unfortunate defect.  He was unusually homely!

Young Jessa had plenty of awkward phases along the way growing up, IMO; including one picture of her as a toddler where I thought her face looked, quite frankly, so odd as to be almost deformed.

As for the Starbucks drink, nutritionally I'm not bothered by it as I know it doesn't have caffeine, and probably isn't that much different from feeding your kid a vanilla milkshake.

I think they're more Starbucks junkies than straight up coffee junkies. Jessa can't have caffeine now, anyway.

Pregnant women don’t have to completely give up caffeine. My OB told me that I could have a cup of coffee every day if I wanted to and believe me, I wanted to!

Other than cakepops and the Vanilla Bean Frap that is the only thing I ever get from Starbucks lol, so I can't blame her for that one.  I will say a few summers ago they had mini Fraps, and I was guilty of buying my kids one of those, they were much smaller and like most said the vanilla ones didn't have coffee in them, although my kids were still a bit older than hers....

My mom would never let us have iced tea as kids because of the caffeine, but she had NO problem loading us up with Kool-Aid or even worse, sugar free Kool-Aid made with NutraSweet. Yum! Chemicals! That was like almost 40 years ago and I'm still alive, so I guess I survived. An occasional treat of Starbucks isn't going to hurt Jessa's kids, people need to chill.

I watch a YouTube channel called 1000s of Roots about a homestead family and most of their kids run around barefoot most of the year.

As for Jessa, once the show is off the air, she can continue on YouTube. One channel I watch is an older lady who puts out a 5-10 minute video every day and she's constantly getting gifts from her viewers.

I watch Andrea Mill's LONG videos at bedtime.  I am a terrible sleeper and her long, soothing videos are my bedtime stories!

I cannot believe the huge amount of things and gift cards their 'Youtube friends" constantly send them.  Especially for her kids'birthdays, and she has 9 of them!

She homeschools, home births, home churches, and home herbal medicines.

Oh, and the whole family is addicted to Mountain Dew.  Even Hanna, the baby.

I watch a YouTube channel, Max and Katie the Great Danes. Max and Katie have both passed away, but the owners have 2 more now. They also live in a legit mansion and neither one seems to have a job. The husband paints, but it seems more like a hobby, and no one can figure out where all their money is coming from. And even though their bedroom is like the size of my whole apartment and they are living in a multimillion dollar home, people are constantly sending the dogs presents. Jessa really needs to get someone who actually can do marketing for her, she's obviously got the drive and the hustle. She seems to be right behind JimBob in hustle, I'll give her that. She just needs someone to help her do it right if this is what's going to support her, Ben, and the kids for the long term. She also needs to break away from the large family in terms of the whole. We've all thought she's the kid pushing this for a while now, she should be getting more than her siblings who randomly show up here and there if that's true.

IDK I think she is lazy as hell, smug, and wants to get by on her (fading) looks. If she had “hustle “ (I hate that word btw) she would go get some training for a real job (or at least tell Bin to do that).

I follow Max and Katie's channel as well; a) because I love Great Danes and b) because the videos are drool-worthy house porn.

I think if Jessa had a stronger-willed, savvy husband like Jeremy, she could definitely make a go of it, but she's stuck with Bin. Not that he's a bad guy, but I don't think he has an ounce of ambition or drive. He's a coattail rider, not a leader. Great for Jessa in the sense that she can run the show, but bad because it's all on her, all the time.

It’s “on her” but she can’t cook, she can’t clean, and she is not willing to actually work. She wants to make a living by exploiting her “cute” kids, just like her parents did.

I must be older than you are.  I remember cyclamates and saccharin, in diet soda.  I survived, as well.  I seriously doubt that a once-in-awhile bit of caffeine or sugar in a small portion is going to be harmful to healthy children.

Agreed.  My father is 64 and was given coffee for the first time when he was 5.  He told me that he drank a full cup every day before elementary school (and from then on).  This was just normal in his Polish-American immigrant family.  I wouldn't think of doing that with my son, but it does remind me to not get too worked up over the times when my son gets more sugar or caffeine than he should!  (In case anyone is curious, my dad is in good health)!

Well, Andrea also believes in home dentistry!!!  Seriously, once a year she gives each of her kids a "good charcoal cleaning",  whatever that entails!

She probably means brushing their teeth with activated charcoal. It's a fad among some alternative-health types to do this....Supposedly it whitens your teeth. Not clear whether it also takes the enamel off entirely. ;  )

Activated charcoal is a great natural med for internal gas!    Who knew it was also used to ruin teeth!

I used it a couple of times, and it tore my gums up, and my gums were healthy and normal beforehand.  After I used the charcoal they were raw and sore for several days.

Activated charcoal is also used (or was) for people who have tried to commit suicide. Brings the bad stuff right up.  Blergggghhh...

My college roommate’s mom attempted suicide a few times. It was quite the learning experience (and not covered in the college catalog).

Activated charcoal is also the main ingredient in many anti-hangover pills; you know, those types designed to take while you are drinking and not after.

Activated charcoal absorbs many medications, so, if someone has taken pills and they're still in the stomach; the charcoal will soak up the poison before it can be absorbed into the body.

Ipecac is the stuff that induces vomiting.

And since she said in her 31 week selfie that she was in between the sizes of her two prior pregnancies, we can be pretty sure she's having another singleton.

Hopefully, this one also has a ton of unruly, ungroomed hair, or else!  That's about it for her signature of motherhood.  Especially considering her spouse is a dud and they don't work as loving couple.

Unless Jessa has twins/triplets no one will care when she has her baby

This is pretty much true for all of them at this point. Even Abby & Lauren's babies aren't going to generate any real interest in the Duggar family. The in-law grandparents may get excited but the Duggars have already been through "first baby" 6 times so it's just part of the routine.

Please remember the Be Civil policy in this forum. Also, everyone's opinion is welcome. This is neither a pro- nor anti-Duggar forum. You can politely disagree but do not make things personal. Posts have been removed.

Agree. The general public definitely doesn't care. The only people even mildly interested are snarkers and the leghumpers. And even then, old news. 2nd and 3rd babies aren't as interesting. The only reason I give a shit about Joy's pregnancy is because I'm curious to see if she learned anything and will go to a hospital for this one.

The only newsworthy Duggar story would be a scandalous out of wedlock baby or if one of the kids escapes and writes a tell all.

I love in Hipsterland. The Beard went out at least a year ago. That's gone down to the rednecks. Hipsters here are now sporting more manicured facial hair.

Yeah, this seems less “hipster” and more “I live in the backwoods of West Virginia where I farm yaks and engage in questionable personal hygiene practices.”

I'd say that's likely a very accurate assumption.

I'm not a fan of the full-on beard look, but I suppose that Ben pulls it off about as well as anyone else. It's not his best look by far, but it's not horrible as beards go.

Compare it to the patchy mess that Dreck tried to sport back in their DA phase...

I haven't heard anyone say "storybooks" in thirty years.

lol

Super-sheltered people usually sound like they come from the previous generation. Or even farther back than that, depending on the history of isolation in the family. When I was Bin's age, I was struggling to get past sounding like somebody who was born around 1890.

But with the mindset of this gang, I think they just keep isolating themselves more.

Not sure if Bin would do that on his own or not -- or would even do it if he were still mostly influenced by his own parents, who seem to be becoming more comfortable with change.

But JB and Jessa have Bin's testicles stored in some tin warehouse somewhere, so he's going the Duggar way, looks like.

Am I the only one surprised that this is the boys first trip to a zoo?  I guess I am too used to Outdaughtered and the Little Couple where activities like this seem like a boring Sunday afternoon activity they have done 1000 times already.  Plus this isn't even a filmed event!  I'd have thought that TLC would have taken them a dozen times already.  The "Duggar" brand budget must be dwindling.
