That was so boring! I can't believe they wasted another hour of my life by not eliminating someone. This is not a documentary about modeling or fashion--I love documentaries about modeling and fashion!! But this is a competitive reality show, and they need to, um, resume eliminating people.

If I have to hear another talking head by Mikey or Nyle that they are thisclose to changing the world, I am going to die. How will winning this tomfoolery necessarily even change their lives, let alone the world? The best models with the best careers are almost never the winners.

And Lacey is sounding more and more arrogant in her THs. I think they're setting her up for elimination. There were two close-ups of her face while she was getting her makeup done, and her skin is baaaad. And what is up with how she keeps talking about how she "stopped taking care" of herself when her parents divorced? She weighed 35 more pounds, not 90! I'm sure Lacey + 35 lbs = girl with pretty cute, trim figure. Let it go, Lacey.

Having said all that, I'm still rooting for Lacey over Mame, because Lacey is only now becoming as arrogant as Mame always has been. Plus, Mame's mean; Lacey hasn't shown herself to be. Justin sees himself with her? That is a trap, and a waste. Justin is at the top of his game right now. He can have his pick of women, up to and better looking than Mame. Isn't he interested in one with a good personality?

I can't believe they are stretching this out another two weeks. I just want it to end, so I can be put out of my misery.

Total waste of time. If you missed it, not to worry. Just some photo shoots (but we won't see them, or the results, until next week). Also, finalists must present why they want to be ANTM. We'll see that next week too. This was mostly just a bunch of talking heads (the 4 contestants) - I want to change the world, I am going to beat so-and-so, I have to bring my "A" game, etc.--repeated again and again. 

 

I just went to Zappo's Couture site. (Thanks for the link.) Actual models on the site are few and far between; mostly the clothing, shoes, and accessories are shown by themselves, not being modeled. Interesting--where exactly are we going to see the winner displayed?

 

Based on the few models shown on the website, as well as on the Zappo's blog, I'm going out on a limb and predicting Mame as the winner. She seems more like the models shown on the site. Bonus is that she is a woman of color, and Lord knows that website could use a model of color.

 

If not Mame, I think I would guess Nyle. That site purports to be very upscale, and I think Nyle could easily make you believe that watch and those cuff links are very expensive and worth every penny.

 

Oh, almost forgot--I laughed when Mame and Lacey were being shown in their various photo sessions, and each was claiming she did a great job. All I could think was "I hope there is a photo where you have a neck. Because so far I'm not seeing one."

Credit to Mikey -- he looks better with flat ironed hair and showered.  He will never look better than Nyle to me.

 

I do now understand that some of Nyle's issues may be because he is focused on getting the direction from his interpreter.  I just think that will take some time for him, but I don't think it should be a dealbreaker.

 

Lacey's skin is getting bad, I can see it on my 18 inch laptop monitor, so I can only imagine what those of you with HD large TVs are seeing.  

 

Also, I wish Lacey and Mame would stop trying to make their lives seem so tough.  OMG Lacey was once normal sized everyone!  What a personal disaster for her!  And she wants to write a book, and open a business, and be a ballerina, and be an astronaut!  And Mame is a diplomat's daughter that had to grow up with her aunt, probably because it was unsafe for her in Ghana, or because she had more opportunities here!

 

It just makes it sound bad when you're comparing the struggle to that of Mikey, who grew up in poverty, and Nyle, who grew up deaf.

I would not be surprised if Lacey's hijacking of Mame's photo shoot (by picking up the dog) was producer-driven.  Someone on staff probably prodded her to do that / planted the seed.

 

And I'm also suspicious of the talking heads. Sure, Mame and Lacey are talking smack, but we don't know what TPTB are asking to elicit those responses.  ("So, Mame, do you think you have to bring your "A" game today?" "Lacey, are you going to destroy Mame?") 

 

We also don't see what they cut or edit. So maybe at some point Lacey says something like (I'm just paraphrasing here) "I think I've got this in the bag. Of course, Mame is a tough competitor. But I'm going to do my best to blow the judges away."  And they splice and dice that so what we see/hear is "...I've got this in the bag. I'm going to...blow the judges away."

 

Never underestimate the magic of creative editing.

The Zappos couture lady flirting with Mikey is one of the grossest things this cycle. Yes she has one of those plastic surgery faces that makes her look like the Joker.

I think Lacey and Nyle are by far the better pair of the final four, and deserve to be top 2.

Justin should run as fast as he can from Mame.

Devin looks even more cross-eyed and llama-looking in this episode than before, if that is even possible.

Glad they didn't show Bello at all this episode. Hopefully he doesn't appear in the final runway either.

I was just coming here to say that this episode has just about as much filler as the Zappos lady's face.  I was afraid that the Juvaderm Volumna that she had injected into her cheeks looked like it was about to pop out of her skin.

 

Cobrasnake and Rocky (the guy who made wearable art) are both hideous.  Its funny how you can't be a woman in the beauty industy and be ugly but a guy--no problem.  Cobrasnake is a tiny bit awesome though, in that he looks like he used to be a porn camerman in the 70's who fills in at the last moment when the male star snorted too much coke the night before and didn't show up (thus the "Cobrasnake")

 

Anytime you take markers, posterboards and gluesticks to write a mission statement or a business plan....come on, Tyra give them a laptop, projector and Powerpoint at least!!

I wish the final two could be Mikey and Nyle. Lacey and Mame are beautiful women too, but I think the guys blow them out of the water with the modeling aspect. I'm guessing Mikey is prompted to bring up his background. But also, people who grow up poor never forget. Even if they have later success, it's always there in the back of their mind. Some therapy will help with that. I also think Mikey has really low self-esteem and tries to make up for it by acting the stud.

 

I had to laugh at the suggestion the middle aged average looking Zappos lady could bring out the sexy in Mikey by making eyes at him. They were really blowing smoke up her ass.

I wish I could be a judge just so I can say, "I'm sorry for your situation, but how are you gonna make me money?"

Fact is that neither Nyle or Lacey are really "built" for most fashion shoots. If they were huge stars and famous then the stylists would work hard to "make it work"..but in reality these models need to walk in and be able to wear clothes on a runway, be able to show case the product or clothes on a fashion shoot.

Mame and Mikey should be top two IMHO and then - we may actually have a successful model or two to end this show

I have to say Lacey's edit last episode confused the hell out of me.

 

It's clearly a loser's edit, but what's confounding me is if it's a runner-up edit or a ditched at semi-finals edit.

 

Clearly we're meant at the post here to be left with an impression that she's arrogant. But it's worth noting the show has clearly held back with this kind of footage of her until now, and previously shown her as mostly uninvolved and above the fray (maybe a hair bitchy at times, but not majorly). It's not clear if earlier footage of her acting overconfident was simply held back and not allowed into earlier episodes, or if her latest reactions were simply milked more carefully out of her with better leading questions and more producer interview fuckery/manipulation. But WHICH of those it is doesn't ultimately matter. The point is us being left with the impression she's got a swelled head.  The timing of that is certainly no coincidence.

 

Actually all of them are getting weird edits. We get reminded that Nyle only gives one expression, for example. We're reminded that Mame is a faithless cheater (and when Justin appears sounds kind of pathetic explaining herself). In fact, the only one who's edit has "improved" is Mikey, who while he's the slimeball instigator, is shown as SO blase about it all that it's strangely forgivable. He still looks like any old stringy haired douchenozzle you might see hanging around a 7-11 Parking Lot late on a Saturday Night when he's looking to buy a Big Bite hot dog and bag of Funyons for his case of the Munchies, but the show seems to want us to THINK he's better than that, however he runs his goddamn mouth.

 

So I can't say I know WHAT the fuck the show is doing here.  If Lacey is the mouthing off kind of arrogant in these clearly cultivated clips, Mame is instead a kind of cold stone faced arrogance (that look that Lacey is calling "regal", that's frankly very offputting). Really I don't think either woman is going to win, so between them it's really only about who's First Loser behind the guy who wins.

 

Nyle seems like the over-obvious choice to win, but if so... why the last minute reminders of his one and only photo expression? Why allow that even to be put into the edit?  Just because Mikey said it doesn't mean the show had to air it.

 

That makes me very afraid this is all about Douchy McStringyhair and a victory for him. 

 

It's a good thing this show is going away. That's a good way to ensure we don't really have to see or hear from Mikey again, even if he DOES win.

And on a note totally unrelated to modeling, sort of like this latest episode, just how freaking cold was that cabin?  Mame seems to think it justifies cheating on the guy she was sorta/kinda with because it was just soooo collllldddd.  I hate camping and I hate being cold, but sheesh people, suck it up and get in your sleeping bag by yourself unless you're about to get frostbite or hypothermia. In the beginning Nyle was one of my favorites but then he mentioned, early on, something about preferring to be deaf and not wanting to hear. Then to have so much focus on his deafness (more than Mame's growing up without parents, Mickey's poverty and family in prison, Lacey being normal sized virgin christian) when he had earlier said something that seemed pro-deaf or anti-hearing. Aren't their sub communities of deaf people who ostracize the hearing impaired who get cochlear implants and/or use medical advances to gain hearing? Regardless, it made me root for him less than before. I can see how most people would love the Nyle based on his edit but his edit annoys me. However he is a good model. The contestants background and all this non-model stuff really shouldn't matter but it's not like the show is showing their photos or much of the photo shoots.

 

Based on the edit of this season and based on who won that other reality show (PR), it seems like Nyle will win. I'm happy with that since he is gorgeous and can get great pictures. I think Mickey is the best model (check out the links on his wiki page) and would prefer him for the win. I think all 4 of them are good models.

I must of seen that or a similar documentary or report. It was many years ago and I just remember there was division/controversy in the deaf community about it. I was left with the feeling (or my opinion) that if one chooses to remain deaf then stop bitching about it and expecting others to adapt to one's choice. Is it a disability if one chooses to keep it (when treatment is available)? I just remember walking away (actually it would be more like limping away) feeling negatively about deaf people who choose to remain deaf yet expect accommodations to be made for them. I felt positive about deaf people who aren't deaf by choice (they don't have treatment options) and am pro-accommodations for them.

 

I read the wiki page on Sound & Fury and got a laugh out of the 6 year follow up~~it made me smile.

 

I have no idea if Nyle is a candidate or not for surgical intervention. It was just that his views on deafness reminded me of that controversy and my opinions on it. Also I don't think Nyle's has bitched about his deafness and think it is editing that makes it seem like that is all he talks about. It has been relevant several times and should be talked about at those times however, just like with Mickey's poverty, Mame's parents, Lacey's body images, it is repeated over and over again and again ad nauseam.

I feel like Nyle wants to be the the voice, so to speak, of deaf community, maybe that's why (on top of editing) he talks about it so much. He has a somewhat decent platform with ANTM, whether he wins or not.

Idk if it's me giving him a pass because he is so gorgeous and my fav, but i feel like something like deaf culture is a bit less unknown than poverty, growing up without parents, or being 35 lbs heavier and insecure. I mean all of those issues deserve time and attention, but deafness is a bit less known/open/common. I have never really thought about it before Switched at birth. I had known (kinda) only one deaf person in my life - an elderly customer when i was working my first job at McD's. So the show and now Nyle are bringing attention of regular people like myself to a different culture. I don't understand how it's not a disability, or how someone can choose to look at it that way, but i can't understand many other things i don't have personal experience. 

I never thought or was curious about it all before an interesting show, and now gorgeous man introduced me to it. I guess it's not the worst thing to be pushing out there.

But maybe, like i said, i'm giving him a pass because of those eyes and those abs LOL

 

 

i did like however that Mame started talking about being a humanitarian. I'm not sure if she is just using it because it's a "cool word" and a "nice concept", though. I wish she were more clear about it. like Nyle LMAO (i had to )

Did anyone else notice after Mame hugged and kissed her mother, she said "I love you" and her mother didn't say it back? Her mother smiled and turned away. I'm quite sure it wasn't due to editing, but I'm just wondering if her mother is just not affectionate or if she never wanted a child. She had enough time to reply back with the same words, and I doubt she said it first. I know I'm in the minority here, but I feel bad for Mame. She has mentioned several times of being tired of doing things on her own, so I'm surmising between her parents and the relatives she lived with she never received any emotional support, just the basic food, clothes, and shelter. jmho

I must of seen that or a similar documentary or report. It was many years ago and I just remember there was division/controversy in the deaf community about it. I was left with the feeling (or my opinion) that if one chooses to remain deaf then stop bitching about it and expecting others to adapt to one's choice. Is it a disability if one chooses to keep it (when treatment is available)? I just remember walking away (actually it would be more like limping away) feeling negatively about deaf people who choose to remain deaf yet expect accommodations to be made for them. I felt positive about deaf people who aren't deaf by choice (they don't have treatment options) and am pro-accommodations for them.

 

I read the wiki page on Sound & Fury and got a laugh out of the 6 year follow up~~it made me smile.

 

I have no idea if Nyle is a candidate or not for surgical intervention. It was just that his views on deafness reminded me of that controversy and my opinions on it. Also I don't think Nyle's has bitched about his deafness and think it is editing that makes it seem like that is all he talks about. It has been relevant several times and should be talked about at those times however, just like with Mickey's poverty, Mame's parents, Lacey's body images, it is repeated over and over again and again ad nauseam.

I watched that documentary a long time ago (its available on NFlix watch instant now), but I specifically remember there always being this underlying current of....I don't know....anger from people who wanted to stay deaf, or keep others deaf.  I don't know if it was some variation of jealousy or sour grapes or maybe even the idea that there would be culture loss.

I love Nyle, I lust Nyle.  But I understand this criticism.  Some of it may come from trying to focus on his interpreter and not having enough time to really feel whatever it is he wants to bring to the camera.  Models that can hear can hear a director saying "give me sadness!" and probably work to conjure up a feeling of sadness or whatever complex emotion.  Nyle has to look over at an interpreter, the interpreter has to interpret the words (and how much of Yu Tsai's direction seems nonsensical even when we can hear it) and Nyle has to understand the words and then do the work.  And this is probably while he also has Yu Tsai trying to communicate with him through simple hand gestures as well.  

 

Nyle has a disability, but it sounds like his mother was deaf and he grew up with a great amount of love.  He has said before that he is often sought out when he is "at home" so I'm not sure that he has been through a huge struggle.  Sounds like he had a loving mother, and a loving community.  And honestly, given the way Nyle looks, I can't imagine he has experienced a lot of rejection in life.

 

I find a lot of Lacey's pictures to be bland.  Perfect, but bland.  But with her, I just think she hasn't experienced the world.  I think that it may be the one thing that Mikey has over the rest of them.  When his pictures look good, its because there is some depth behind them, maybe because he has experienced the difficulties of life and so he has felt a range of emotions and can easily be in touch with them.

That is a good point. As much as I probably wouldn't touch Mikey and as a female, probably wouldn't be his friend because I'd be sick of trying to fend him off all the time, I do think he had a world weariness that reads beautifully on camera. He's the best model they have left. Not high praise, but something. lol Nyle is stunning but a bit vacant, though with his manliness I could see him doing high end vodka ads. Mame just does one look, which was really evident in her pics with her mum where mum had this boyant joy to her and Mame was "fierce"...again. Lacey is stunning but young and inexperienced. Most of her poses seem like they come straight from a magazine in that she saw it in a magazine, practiced it a million times and does it on cue.

 

Can't believe I'd ever say it but, Mikey for the win.

Lacey's edit this week reminds me of C15 Chelsey. Which is to say, completely and totally awesome, but a clear attempt by the editors to make her look overly competitive.

I nearly shit myself with shock and joy when Chelsey advanced to the finals over Tyra's pet Kayla, so I could see Lacey getting the runner-up edit. I just don't know how compelling a Nyle/Mame or Mikey/Mame finale would be, so Lacey/Nyle makes the most sense. And if not, how dare TPTB spend the entire season making me love them for nothing.

I "get" Mikey as a model, but this redemption edit is not working for me. Too little too late after a season of being an aggressive, womanizing asshole.

Yes, Lacey distracting the photographer with the puppy was a straight-up rip-off of a scene from UNreal in which one of the contestants derails a competitor's scene by luring the children away with a rabbit.

 

I also have no doubt that Lacey's "confidence" talking heads are proof of her "acting" ability.  I do not find them credible.

 

I'm glad to know there's some evidence that Mikey truly can model.  All I see is a guy with long hair who had better not get too attached to it as he ages.

 

And speaking of aging, Mame is twenty-freakin'-three.  That's a little long in the tooth to be launching a modeling career even if she does have beautiful skin.

Nyle made a comment about how he's more high fashion than Mikey. I had to make a double take to ensure I'm hearing it right. Nyle is handsome, sure, but the last person I think of when I think high fashion. Mikey can do it if he cleans up, bun his hair and shave that horrible facial hair.
