Sweet Fellowship: Duggars and Friends (aka the Bates Family and Other Featured Families Thread)

Message added by Scarlett45

If a person/family was never featured on any of the Duggar shows, and is not related to the Duggar family by blood or marriage, they do not need to be discussed here..

The Politics Policy is still in effect. A participants social media is NOT an invitation to discuss their political view points. Consider if discussion of certain social media posts will cause you to violate the politics policy BEFORE you hit the "Submit Reply" button.

We may all agree that David Rodriques is quite unfortunate looking, but let's refrain from comparing human beings to apes, its got way too much of a loaded history- please review the new Inclusion Policy updated May 1, 2022 , which details guidelines around discussing body type, capabilities, physical appearance etc. Additionally, using body size as an insult is not allowed.

I could see that. If she caught him buying and sneaking food to his siblings, she'd be furious, taking it as an implied criticism of her parenting. Although he may not have any money at his disposal at all. I wouldn't put it past Jill to demand that he turn over every cent he earns and then spend it all on herself.

As an adult, Timothy would be eligible for a couple hundred dollars worth of SNAP benefits (depending on his income, if any). He should get it and share with his siblings. They all need to eat!

The maximum he could get is $194.00 per month.

Better than the scraps he’s getting now at home.

I don’t read Jill’s rankings. What is this about Tim being exposed to porn?

Jill claims that a group of boys were bullying Timbits and somehow "showed him porn" in class. I'd love to know the logistics of this event. It's about as plausible as the professor at Moody throwing his bible in the trash as he railed against the KJV.

also seems this was about the same time Timbits  posted on mama's page saying he discovered all the bad things people were saying online about his family. how laughable the claims his parents were starving the children and the high metabolism the children have. and then how he gained 10lbs almost immediately on going to moody but then food poisoning.

I think while away from mommy timmy actually just discovered anyone can look at the ebil internet and so he did

FWIW, when I was at COFO, I met a twenty-something senior who was getting married that summer who thought any sex scene in a movie was porn. And not just graphic sex scenes. Any sex scene she called porn. I turn into the world's most persnickety asshole when someone rubs me the wrong way, so I gave her the dictionary definition of porn and explained the difference between porn and, you know, sex scenes in movies. I don't know that she believed me, and I am pretty sure she thought I was some godless jezebel for that explanation.

But based on that, I could totally believe that he watched a PG-13 movie, and it was considered porn in his sheltered eyes. And of course Jill would jump on that bandwagon to impress upon him what a bunch of heathens he was surrounded by.

But Jill claimed that his porn exposure happened IN CLASS. Like I said above, I would love to know how that happened. She went on to say that Tim reported it to the instructor, who did nothing. And why should they? These are ADULTS.

Maybe they were watching an instructional movie for budding pilots, like Top Gun🙃

Was this at the school in Wisconsin?

I feel like Jill's definition of porn could include so many things or instances that are in fact not porn. Maybe the group of guys that Jill claims to have "bullied" poor Timbits were surprised that Timmy has never seen porn, a sex scene, or whatever falls under Jill's incredibly loose definition of porn. Like was mentioned upthread that if it was actually shown to Timbits during class and the professor did not care I would assume a majority of the students are adults and can look at as much porn as they want. Didn't Timmy write something on Jill's social media about porn or am I getting that confused with a Duggar or Duggar adjacent?

Who knows if Timbits was shown anything at all? I also doubt he was getting bullied. He probably had had a hard time making friends at school, for obvious reasons. The students, not liking his likely in your face proselytizing, chose to ignore him. Not knowing the definition of bullying, he made himself a martyred victim. 🙄

Well I’m sure he is so used to JillR’s tales of persecution that he has no idea how kids might act at school.  So he just assumes he’s a martyr.

I don't remember Jill spouting about Tim being bullied, but I do remember his rant about the evils of the internet. I could see his classmates joking about the Mile High Club, then telling their obnoxious classmate Tim to look up videos about it.

But what doesn't make sense is the timing. If I'm remembering correctly Tim did not return home directly after his rant. I think Tim returned home for his birthday in March and then went back to school. This happened during the beginning of the pandemic. And I thought once he returned home for good, JillR gave no explanation.

So I'm thinking the reason might have been due to finances again or Tim couldn't pass his classes.

The porn story is probably 99.99 % made up, just like the "professor threw the KJV in the trash" story (and the trans people who are always accosting Jill in public bathrooms).

I mean, you know, the professor did probably say that Moody doesn't insist that all students swear off looking at any other bible translations for life and deems a few besides the KJV acceptable, like the New KIng James, or something.

In the porn incident...maybe somebody showed Tim a 45-second clip of the balcony scene from some film version of Romeo and Juliet on youtube and noted that the actor playing Juliet was hot. That would totally qualify as "bullying Tim into looking at porn in the classroom" for Jill.

In no way am I defending anyone here, but I did attend Fox Valley Technical College several years ago, and I would not be surpised if Timmy was somewhat bullied or shown porn.  That school tends to attract and enroll most anyone who can find a way to pay the tuition, so there are clusters of "rough" types especially in certain fields of study and/or remedial classes.  I'm not knocking the school either as they do have legit professors and programsm, it's just that their entrance requirements are fairly minimal, or at least they used to be.

The Rod kids are certainly expected to tell their parents everything so someone can be punished, but that doesn't go well in the adult world. If the story is true, the teacher probably was annoyed at Tim's tattling, especially if nothing much happened. And If the students were looking at photos or videos during class and the teacher noticed, most teachers would tell them to pay attention and threaten a quiz if they didn't. That usually works.

The KJV bible toss in the trash can is pure Jill.

Community Colleges have open enrollment, but the attrition rates are high. Lack of money and failing grades probably doomed Tim's education as it does for many other students. Drama Queen Jill had to make dramatic cover stories. Tim certainly looked happy in that photo of what seemed to be a party with co-workers at the senior care center, so maybe the job was going well. That would have really set Jill off.

OK, Kaylee. Did you or BEST MOMMA write this? My head hurts.

Sounds like BEST MOMMA isn't doing well right now. This ode to warrior jill smells of pure desperation.

That grammar and punctuation is horrible.  I feel so sorry for these kids and their lack of basic education.

Best Momma's generous gifts to her kids obviously did not include an education. This is fourth grade at best, and I bet Momma helped Kaylee write it too.

I hate to say it, but this is worse than Tim's stuff. Maybe his hours in college were more helpful than we thought.

The most horrifying thought is that Kaylee will homeschool her kids unless a miracle stops it.

I think Jill wrote the poem, notice that Jill is referred to as "Momma," and Kaylee wrote the short note of praise, where Jill is referred to as "Mama."

In the kids' Mother's Days odes to Jill, Kaylee repeatedly called Jill "Mama." Not a direct quote, but I remember her writing to be something like, "Mama, I love you so much because you are my mama, Mama!" and cringing because my teenagers would only say something like that to be over the top silly, but Kaylee was being earnest. Or maybe she was being silly and rolling her eyes at the ridiculousness of having to write these odes to Jill, but Jill is too dumb to notice.

I think Jill makes all the kids responsible for her feelings and Kaylee is in the unfortunate role of chief emotional caretaker and scapegoat.

"But her heartache and trials is something she truly encloses"?  What the heck does that even mean?

OMG, Jill has really lost it.  Those poor kids aren't even walking on eggshells anymore, they are just frozen in place.

Nurie must be so relieved she has escaped but I bet she also worries for her siblings.

I always wonder why the kids are writing odes and poems to Mama and giving her gifts ALL of the time and nothing for their Daddy?  It's like he doesn't even exist to them except for having fathered them.  And I know Jill is responsible for all of the kids behaviors, but it would be nice to see both parents recognized.

How old is Kaylee? This is the kind of writing that I would expect from an elementary school student, not someone older. It's incredibly sad how stunted Jill and David have made these kids, not just in school, but in life and maturity and personality. They have literally set these kids up to fail in life, there is very little hope any of them could function in a normal society.

I'm pretty sure that the prof at Moody told the class that he personally favored another Bible translation over the King James version.  In Jill's twisted mind, that was just the same as throwing the KJV in the trash.  As I recall, even before Tim went to Moody Jill and Shrek were very concerned that Tim would be exposed to 'liberal' Christians because Moody doesn't claim that the KJV is the ONLY godly Bible.

IMO the main role of a parent is to prepare children to be responsible enough and smart enough to go out into the world and take care of themselves.  Ma and Pa Rod have SEVERELY dropped the ball.

The odes and poems are because Jill writes some/all/most of them herself.  She's a master of guilt and the kids know they need appease her with adulation and gifts.  I doubt they produce writing that glorifies Jill sufficiently so she produces most of that herself.

I always believe that sometimes, the most telling piece of information includes that which is not explicitly stated. The fact that there are NO odes to Shrek is an excellent point and VERY telling indeed.

Even if Jill didn't technically write it herself, we all know that she coerced it from her daughter.  When Jill is feeling sad, say after losing 500 followers on Instagram in less than a week, I'm sure the kids hear all about it and are 'gently encouraged' (AKA browbeaten) into doing something nice for Momma/Mama.  There will be hell to pay if they don't.

Kaylee writing a review/ode to best mama ever is sort of like Jill, Nurie and Kaylee posting reviews for Tim's godly handyman business. same effect -it convinces no one

"When the battle gets hot and hard......."  I'm sorry, I shall show myself out.  I'm new to the Naughty Room, I hope there's a seat left for me.

Seriously, though - it's sadly all too easy to imagine the storm clouds brewing in the Barndo, Jill's histrionics and rage about her social media following, and Kaylee's desperate attempt to placate and soothe her mother and protect her siblings with a horribly worded, child-like poem about how Momma is the Best Mama EVERRRR.  I hope for the kids' sake it worked, at least temporarily.
