Small Talk: The Prayer Closet

Message added by Scarlett45

This is a reminder that the Politics Policy is still in effect.

I understand with recent current events there may be a desire to discuss political social media posts of those in the Duggar realm- this is not the place for those discussions. If you believe someone has violated forum rules, report them, do not respond or engage.

Political discussion is not allowed in this forum- this includes Small Talk topics. Please stay in the spirit of the policy- I have noticed a tendency for some to follow the letter but not the spirit.

While we understand the frustration (change is never easy), please keep in mind that not everyone feels the same way and that for those members who don't, the ongoing conversation about other forums and chat options can equally be a cause of frustration.

Out of respect for your fellow posters, we kindly ask that you continue any discussion about alternatives via PM or the Technically Speaking: Bugs, Questions, & Suggestions area.

Here is something for acid reflux that has worked for us, me and Mr. lookeyloo.  Bragg's apple cider vinegar.  A capful in a big glass of water.  Drink, then rinse mouth because of vinegar.  it tastes like mild salad dressing, diluted with all that water.  Mr. lookeyloo was highly skeptical and now is a believer.  Cheap and easy to come by.

I’ve seen this recommended so many times, and I really want to know what the science is behind it! I don’t doubt that it works but I want to know why.

I come from a family of acid reflux sufferers, the idea is that you drink the diluted vinegar before a meal.   Your body mistakes the vinegar for stomach acid and then produce less.   I haven't tried it yet.   I have found my triggers and avoid, avoid, avoid.

Ok, I have finished  the wedding  cake. I will deliver  it tomorrow  because  I will be out of town  for the big day. I made  a three tier  cake the top layer  is iced red, 2nd  layer  is ices white  and of course  the 3rd is iced blue. I had some left over plastic  flowers  from  the 4th of July  and have placed  them around  the border  of the cake. All  around  the sides and top I made little cat foot prints. The crowning glory  are the sparklers  I stuck in the top layer.will someone  please  remember  to light them ?

I will take responsibility. I still have the bridesmaids dresses (if you have not gotten yours yet, you still can pick it up from me if you wish!) But I will light the sparklers on the cake. No worries!

I'm just thankful that I don't know...I've had acid reflux for a good 20 years, but a daily dose of Zantac back in the day, and now a Prilosec every three or four days keeps it at bay.

Daily generic Zantac works fine for me. Tried Prilosec but it seemed to stir things up--my stomach rumbled like a volcano.

Can't wait for the big announcement.

I guess that means only  fine-line Sharpies for you.

I wish I were joking when I tell you this: my MIL has been known to use sharpie markers for lip liner. She is a wee bit eccentric.

And on the second note...I guess Medicaid will not pay for the eye ointment because it is on the list of must have prior approval medications. My poor eye doctor will need to prove I need the ointment. I know she will fight for me to be able to use it, but she should not have to. I can understand if Medicaid is worried about possible addiction (can you get addicted to an ointment?) or dangerous side effects, but I know my eye doctor would not put me on something with potential dangers if I use it even once.

I don't know about Montana, but where I practice, it isn't unusual in the case of more expensive medications to require prior authorization.  Many times, all it takes is a phone call from the doctor's office with the diagnostic code (many times, doctors order more esoteric, expensive meds when simpler ones would work).  Since it sounds like your eye problem is pretty complex, presuming there's a diagnostic code that describes it as such; it may well just need a phone call to get it approved.  Worst case scenario: the doctor has to write a letter, speak to someone on the phone and submit records to show that you have tried the simpler, cheaper treatments and they haven't worked or had unacceptable side effects.  I recently had to do that for a patient who needed surgery; they wouldn't approve it because she hadn't had a lesser procedure first.  I had to submit records and test results that showed she wasn't a candidate for the lesser surgery and the bigger one was the only option.  I spent maybe 10 minutes pulling everything together for my staff to submit.  It took a couple weeks for the response, but the surgery is scheduled and approved.

Medicaid turned down the first ointment, so my eye doctor put in for another one. The staff member who handles insurance for the doctor told Medicaid I have tried three prescription eye drops, and one eye ointment in the last year. I was also sent to an eye specialist last July. The ointment I will be trying out is more expensive than the original one she wanted me to try. Crossing fingers it will work. She also wants me to try an eye wash to help keep the areas near my eyes clean. It is just frustrating. Four years of this. My poor eyes. It is weird because when I was hyperthyroid with Graves Disease I did not have the eye problems I have now. The second thyroid scan I had in 2007 showed I had a high level of thyroid hormones which could have lead to temporary eye blindness. I had dry eyes and eye pain at the time, but nothing like this.

That never occurred to me. Does it work? Only half kidding. Wondering if a neutral color, close to lip color would work.

Oooooohhh, tables at the reception. My, aren't we getting fancy!

I suppose next we're going to be using tableclothes, too.  I didn't know I was posting on the same board with the Vanderbilts. La-de-dah!

We need tables after you chipped your tooth tripping over a flamingo or propane heater.  I don't want another injury. Good thing Jill was there...she knew just what to do after that fall Marcus had buying used baby crap. Plus, she had the medical thingys.

Liking the way you think! ?

Well, I think they are precious. They must be approved by @bigskygirl and @Marigold. It is their day, after all.

Can we make the paper flowers into a giant "V" for Virgin?  I really liked how Jinger let everyone know she was a virgin with the Big V.

OK, Ok, I know I have a lot of kids but this courtship makes me feel like a Born Again Virgin. I feel frisky!!!!!!!  I need the letter V.

Oh, and I'd like hay bales all over so people can sit. @Celia Rubenstein and @GeeGolly wedding, we ran out of lawn chairs.  It was kinda awkward.  Hay bales would be great.

We also need blankets because it's gonna be cold.  Mustard sweaters won't be enough in Montana. Plus, we can save the blankets for the blanket training!

Hmmmm...

maybe you are right.

Ok, that's it.  Everyone just stand in the cold and listen to the sermon on masturbation for 90 minutes.  You have to share blankets but don't get too close.  We don't want any  hand sex.

That’s kind of marvelous, really. I aspire to be an eccentric old gal.

There is a fine line between eccentric and batshit crazy. I may write a book some day about our adventures.

Subtlety is not her. She goes with fire engine red or terra coat for liner. It lasts and lasts. I need to find a picture I can crop.

Now if y'all  are going  to have the wedding  outside you should  watch  the latest  Brown  family  wedding  with M girl (cannot remember  how to spell  or say  her name  ) and fat Tony. You can see the best way ( worst  way?) to do it.

They just wrapped up in blankets!  And there was a lot of wind!

Well the weather here is cold with wind and some snow and ice left over from snow storms in December. Only married couples will be allowed to share a blanket. Everyone else will need to find a way to keep warm within reason of course. The children will be taken care of along with the pets and other animals. We will have guard dogs to keep an eye out for trouble makers. Cat and dog treats will be available. Please make sure the children do not run around scaring the animals and do not eat the animal treats. Also do not throw rice in order to protect the birds.

I am having an evil fantasy of sort of a fan fiction based 10 years in the future of the Duggars.

1) Josh and Anna - Josh gets caught again in an Ashely Madison type scandal and has a massive heart attack- which he survives, but the attack is based on the fact that the AM scandal turned out to have a bit of the Crying Game involved.  Anna, at that point, immedietly grows a spine and divorces him.  She then takes multiple books deals for such topics as life in the Gothard community and life behind the scenes with the Duggars while getting therapy.  Inspired, she gets either her degree in Physcology, or Social Work and insists all of her kids go to a real school and all 5 graduate with degrees - from Votech to a Masters.  She then helps women who have been in the life she grew up with and was married into, while making pretty posters of Pandas and protesting the Duggars.  Meanwhile Joshie moves home and he and Boob sit on the sofa all day eating chips and tater tot casserole and are eventually featured on an episode of hoarders and/or my 600 lb life.

My new headship and I had a good chuckle while watching JB and Josh fall on their sorry behinds while walking on the snow and ice to the wedding ceremony. JB brought out his legos in order to give us the sex talk, but we were able to get him to be quiet once we mentioned all the free food at the reception. I also want to thank the person who tripped Derelict when he tried to grab Cling Jill while the wedding party were leaving after the wedding ceremony was over. The kiss was lovely, and I want to thank @GeeGolly and @Celia Rubenstein for their tips on how to have the proper but sweet first kiss. Michelle did try to convince us about her favorite expression "practice makes progress, and progress makes babies" but we were able to dodged her by telling her there were a few people at the reception who did not know she had nineteen kids she had delivered. Jessa came in and told us how to run the show, but we mentioned how lovely her long hair look in order to keep her trap shut. Jeremy's 90 minute sermon about you know what was not a big hit, so he was not too pleased about the lack of excitement, but Jinger was able to calm him down by telling him she loved his sermon and kept calling him babe. Anna came in a panda outfit while handing out religious tracts, but we were able to hide the tracts in the snow. Sassy, her cat friends, and the guard dogs were a big hit, and they were growling at Derelict, JB and Josh a lot.

Now we all wait for the big announcement...
