Diana is such a OTT villian. I feel like I'm watching a bad soap from the 90's that was cancelled long ago. I'm sure JC is having a ball though. It's too bad she's been written as a cartoon and not a smart "normal" woman. I find it kind of funny that they are doing a paternity tampering storline with a bunch of people in their late 60's. Aren't they a little long in the tooth for this storyline?

It was really bothering me at first, then during the episode with John at the door announcing all the ways Marlena had died, I decided to stop trying to take things seriously and just enjoy the show as the comedy it's become.

Same with Claire. At first I was disgusted that he'd made Shelle's daughter a sociopath, but now I'm just enjoying the ride, and ORK's performances. Not sure if that what Ron had in mind, but it's making watching more enjoyable.

I think TC has done a good job playing Stefan. He has pretty good chemestry with NB, too. I had heard he was leaving but it looks like it must have been a rumor. Anyway, I look forward to seeing more Stefan & Chloe as a couple. They look great together. That said, I don't think Brady is going to let up anytime soon. I thought it was funny that he went to see Eric for comfort but got slammed by him and Rex. None of them are actually related to each other, right?

Brady is the son of John and Isabella. Eric is the son of Roman and Marlena. Rex is the son of Roman and Kate (with Marlena as the surrogate). So Rex and Eric are half brothers and Brady and Eric are stepbrothers. Rex and Brady are not related to each other, but are both related to Eric.

DOOL is past due for a good murder mystery.  I think the show should make it a double whammy with Diana and Leo being the victims. 

It makes no sense that Victor hasn't had one or several of his goons escort Leo off the property, John's son or not.

Ciara had one of the stupidest hairdos I've seen in awhile.  At least she's not buying Claire's story, though.

Y'all are right about Haley's pointing.  It's a bit over the top.

When Haley starting yelling at JJ and stabbing the air w her hands, Justin was like this: 

This writing is shitty. Diana and Leo and their plot lines are giving me high key Passions vibes. I liked Passions but this is a less funny version and the treacly loud string music contrasts with the camp 🌽 😖. Also Diana when she gets worked up her voice gets that pitchy thin theatrical shit that sounds old lady-ish or bad black and white movie 1930s “acting”. Leo’s just fucking weird he’s practically begging at this point for a job/friend/attention and when that is curtly rebuffed, he asks to see people’s dicks or bang him instead. Stefan O gives me the creeps like I wonder when Chloe’s away if he looks at her lingerie drawer or he watches her sleep. I do ship her with Rex. They have fantastic light chemistry and it would be a miracle to have a breezy, fluffy, slow beat romance on this soap. 

Eli’s detective skills suck. If Haley was going to kill Marlena she wouldn’t sign a note with the weapon of choice. Also she had access to the site she could have switched or exposed her existing meds to penicillin.  The entire Salem criminal justice system is trash. 

Even John was like “I’m so sad, a coma when this just happened this summer....” I guess I can time when to change a foundation or replace my sneakers by when Marlena has her medical crisis/attacking by stalker.

Ciara, Claire is not really all that nice. You said to Tripp that she has jealousy issues - hope he listens.

Poor Brady, sleeping in almost nothing and finding Leo in his room.  He is playing the role, but he's getting tiring.

As glad as I am to see JJ/Justin scenes I rather they talk about Jack coming BFTD rather than this immigration storyline which is beyond nonsensical for a variety of reasons. Claire is the best part of this storyline because she's acting like a typical soap character and I'm not being forcefed a social issue storyline.

I also don't feel bad for Haley either because as I've said before JJ offered her a reasonable solution weeks ago to set her up with an immigration lawyer to stay in the country legally and she turned him down. I mean really if you don't do anything to try and help yourself I am not going to feel bad for you. 

I wanted JJ to have his own storyline but why do they give him such bad ones.... and why can't he go back to being the fun messy bad boy he used to be *sigh*.

So did I, but IMO he’s being wasted with Haley and I’m not enjoying the pairing, which surprised me as CM typically has such good chemistry with his co-stars - romantic or otherwise. I was shocked that I enjoyed his and Lani’s scenes the other day better than any of his scenes with Haley. I really wish they would put him back in Gabi’s orbit. But I guess given what Gabi did to Abigail that won’t happen anytime soon...

I would eat this up with a spoon if they had the wit and gumption to really do this kind of thing the right way. But we expect too much from the show, I'm afraid.

I enjoyed Gabi, Stefan and even Leo today.  Stefan is right about one thing - that pillow is ugly.  I also wondered if it was the same one Gabi used when she had Leo tied up and am glad they addressed that.  In any event, this story is one I'm really enjoying.  DOOL needs to do whatever is necessary to keep Camila Banus happy.  She's the main reason I look forward to watching this show.

Eric and Sarah were ok, too.

Judith Chapman was really chewing the scenery today.  When she turned around to face Nurse Santos when she accused her of poisoning Marlena, the look of her face was pure Nora Desmond (Prairiemakeup's brilliant observation)!

They say less is more, and I agree.  However her makeup looked fine in other days though. 

Okay, where do I begin about today's show?

Stefan/Gabi: Two things. First, Gabi's clothes are tighter and more exposed as her visit to DiMera Mansion are becoming more frequent lately. Second, Stefan and her are acting more and more like 12 years old fighting over an extra cookie.  Hopefully, Brandon Barash's interpretation will bring some degree of depth and maturity to the dynamic. Regarding Gabi's decorative pillow cover patterns, I do agree with Stefan that less is more (again). By the way, did he really crack her iphone screen or is it still durable?

Vampiric Mama Cooper: I will continuously refuse to acknowledge this repugnant person is the real Diana, no matter how many times those idiotic writers are trying to convince me. They may have a repellent obsession with character demonization or one dimensional writing but I don't. 

Eric/Sarah: It's an eye-opener to me that her presence continues to mellow Eric out.  Their interaction in the chapel was pleasant. She was being a good friend/listener who got him to open up about his past which he might not feel comfortable to bring it up. I also liked Sarah bluntly admitted that part of the bible quote she remembered was from one of the football signs, and Eric's reaction was priceless lol.  I think Greg and Linsey can make this relationship work since both are good actors.

Rex/Chloe: If Rex had Chloe as his friend early on, perhaps he'd be a whole lot less dense and more likeable. 

Brady: Can this guy be any more transparent? His outrage has nothing to do with Rex's well-being.  It's all about getting back at Eric for not helping him to get Chloe away from Stefan.

Well except the Lani part since I hate her. Yeah there's something really off granted there's like zero build up but I did like their little duet together however Haley had the worst intro ever. She gets a suicide attempt and then its forgotten.

Then this storyline where her backstory changes every 5 seconds. They are trying too hard with this character. They should've just started as friends where he supports her having a terrible relationship with her sister  and her support him dealing with Jack back in his life. 

They should also have delved more into Haley and Melinda's relationship that would've also helped too.

Instead we get this and the show tapes 6 months in advance so they can't really correct this anytime soon if at all. Plus Days will likely be cancelled after they hit the 55 mark anyways so I could see them being together by default in the end.

JJ/Gabi are never going to happen again because of Abigail and the show has no interest in them. Which is fine with me as Gabi will never love him back anyways so what's the point?

This is why I will take JJ trying to seduce Eve from Jack as either revenge for messing with his life like this or to get Eve way from Jack and have him see her true colors. It would be a step up for him story wise.

This show doesn't see CM as leading man material he'll get these stories where he's the nice guy loser and advance a social interest issue for the show but not much else. Maybe a sounding board scene or two with Jennifer/Jack but that's about it. They don't care about JJ the way they do Abby😒

Considering BB ends up replacing him like a week later yes this was a precursor to that. I also heard he went to rehab and since he and his wife are Indiana residents it appears she's filed for divorce(there's a petition in one of the papers filed by her for divorce). She's an heiress of Pedigo Racing so I can see how this flew under the radar news wise.

How convenient that the person who allegedly poisoned Marlena was Kristen DiMera! All the folks at the ISA, FBI, Interpol, etc. have no leads on her? Hello, hospital security! Check your cameras and you will see Norma Desmond/overly concerned and seemingly always at the hospital Diana Colville on your feeds.  Nurse Shelley should come clean and implicate the real person.

No one can steal someone from another. The relationship is not working on some level and both parties know that. So no, Eric cannot 'steal' Sarah from Rex or from anyone else. Sarah is not Rex's property and she has the free will to make her own choices. There are obviously some unresolved emotional issues with both. A lot of Brady's issues are about control and his immaturity.

Did like Leo's quip about being half-Black.

Chloe had a nice spring-like dress.

I think they mean by being drunk when he's not supposed to be.  So not intentionally breaking character but real person coming through.  I didn't notice additional slurring but I did notice his face seemed redder than usual.

The writing for these scenes was genuine fun.  I'd love for the show to capture more of that.

Fans always talk about wanting to mine history to tell stories.  Somehow, soaps think that bringing back a character, usually recast, and basically in name only, is mining history.  It's not.  This is not Diana.  They haven't given any reason for the drastic change in her personality.  If I recall correctly, she left John/Roman.  She wasn't pining over him.  Marlena wasn't a factor in her decision. She was still dead when Diana left town.  Making it seem like it was about Marlena erases Isabella from John's life even though their son is still on the damn show. I know they just did some random fling child but they may as well have done the same thing again if they're going to basically ignore everything about the character or the relationship.  Why not make her Yvette? She was after Diana and before Isabella.  She was a prostitute who Justin brought in to hurt Victor.  I would bet she's far less memorable to most than Diana is?  Probably not enough to care if she were trashed. And given her tough past, perhaps this descent would make more sense.

This goes with Eve as well. I love Kassie.  Blair is one of my favorite soap characters.  I thought she and Jack would have a great dynamic but they don't really have what they could have had if they had only written to history.  Yes, they were married before but they hated each other.  I'd be having a little more fun if the honored that dynamic and had Eve pretend to like Jack but we could see that she was only putting up with him for her schemes.  And it'd be even better with more depth behind her motivation for encouraging him to run for mayor.  It's just so shallow and it doesn't feel like there's another potential payoff down the road if he does become mayor.

I sort of want Leo to have a redemption arc now because he seems genuinely appalled at the idea of Diana trying to kill Marlena and he could improve himself simply by hanging out with John more and then the Will/Sonny debacle could be finally put to rest.

Did not enjoy Ciara's hairstyle today but I did love her throwing Julie's hypocrisy back in her face.  Julie was Abigail's biggest supporter and apologist for nothing being Abs' fault because she was mentally ill and good for Ciara for pointing out that Abby did try to kill Vivian, Kate and Marlena and that she did kill Andre.  If Abs gets excused and a second chance, then so should Ben,  Watching Julie's affronted face while her hypocritic actions were being explained to her was fabulous :):)

The show is beyond boring. I am tired of Marlena being a damsel in distress.  We all know that she is not going to die, so, I don't care that she is on the verge of death once again.  

I don't care for Ben, but, I was smiling when Ciara called out Julie on her hypocrisy regarding Abigail.. However, I did not like her bringing up her grandfather in relation to her serial killer boyfriend.  Doug may have been a conman, but, he never killed three innocent women. Ron can do his false equivalencies, but, that will never change the fact that Ben is a monster..

Yes, he was Don Craig on the show.  Marlena's first husband and DJ's father.  We have been talking about him and his passing on the "Behind the scenes" thread. 

I was just commenting on how surprising that they have never brought back Don for Marlena or resurrected DJ from the dead as Marlena's first born.

On a shallow note, Ciara's wacky hair-do, Princess Leia buns & strands hanging in her face was so distracting! 🙂  I did like Ben's conversation with Stefano's portrait about the 'sins of the Fathers" being passed on to the sons.  And Good Grief, is Rex So Clueless!

Ciara's got gorgeous hair so that style didn't bother me (though calling women and girls "females" does, obviously mileage varies)

This Marlena/John/Diana story is mostly doing nothing for me. I feel like they've basically made Diana Kristen, with Diana setting up Kristen as the perpetrator. Meh. This version of Diana seems like a Kristen placeholder except I enjoy Kristen more.

Claire is a bad liar cause she does tend to overplay innocence.

That Caira/Julie conversation had me shake my head a little. Julie may be a hypocrite but Caira isn't that bright either. Her logic reminds me somewhat of those ignorant people who said "people are doing bad shit all the time so why singling out Hitler or Stalin's crimes?"
