I'm sorry but I'm confused. What does having ones reproductive organs shot off have to do with ones sexuality?

Well I have to say Anna is excellent at using a shoe as a weapon! I've always loved Anna.

I really hope Ron will now drop all the mind chip stuff but sadly I feel like he won't.

I hate this baby swap story. Just hate. Kristen getting that baby is wrong, wrong, wrong.

im saying he would be gay during his revenge spree by trying to seduce Will and Sonny.

Changing your sexuality to suit a revenge plot sounds like a previously unknown super power.  Can't imagine what sort of cape they'd wear, though....

I have to agree about Leo.  He's just too much.  But apparently, that's how Ron wants to write the gays.  But he can't do that with Sonny and Will.  So, he created Leo and everybody loves him.  He's so fun!  They wish he was around all the time!  A character like that can't be on all the time.  That's madness.  I also don't like Greg Rikaart.

I don't really hold this particular viewpoint, but I do think Sonny and Will are kinda boring, lol. Not because they aren't Leo levels of flamboyant, just that I've found their storylines since Will came back to be a little lacking in excitement. I wish Paul had stuck around to spice things up.

Paul wasn't all that interesting.  Everything he did was perfect.  Perfect Paul.  How would he have been able to spice things up?  He's been with both Sonny and Will.  So, what's he going to do, sit around and compare?  I still have issues with the Paul and Will story.  They're parading around town together and no one cares about Sonny?  No one bothered to care about how he feels about the whole thing?  They're just cool with Paul being with an amnesiac Will.  Sonny needed a friend or a family member or even some stranger to be like, "Wow.  Poor Sonny."  He was just all alone.  Then, they were declaring "I love you" in front of Sonny.  In his home.  The disrespect.  They should've got some elbows for that one.

But hey, that's one of the stories Ron wanted to do as soon as he walked through the door.  I have admitted that I still have issues with Will because of that storyline.  I would be glad to never see Paul again.

It may be a table of 2, but he was the wooooooooorst for me. Oh yeah, and there's no way Jawn could be his father. Like, literally no way given what was happening on screen back in the day. That they ran with it just made things even more of a mess. 🤦‍♀️

I wish they made Paul a bisexual character because I think the actor had charisma and chemistry with men and women.

That being said I did like him but I preferred Paul with Sonny not Will if given the choice.

I also wished he wasn't related to John for that reason and well they acted like his mother was an afterthought and god forbid someone arrive in Salem not related to someone in a core family.

At least Haley was related to a recurring character instead of the main families when she arrived.

he had great chemistry with Theresa to be honest . I agree, he should have been bi .

and he should have been  the son of Peter Blake . Peter didnt have to appear to drive this revelation home . Peter was in salem when Marlena was possesed by Satan . how did John make time to score some hot lovin during that crisis ? I mean back then he was 2000% focused on exorcising Satan out of Marlena and the writers expect us to believe that John made time for some random japanese woman ? gimme a break . It would have been better if it was Peter being the dad and it would have been irony that Paul would be good buddies with John and Brady and Marlena despite being Kristen's biological nephew.

But hell nah, Lets give John a long lost faux legacy kid despite Eric and Brady being his sons .Ugh!

This seems like combo for the other thread not current episode one, since none of those characters are onscreen rn or been mentioned in months.

I know they talked about that topic that relevant thread and has some cool points 😊

come on now, cut me some slack -unlike Carlivati I know how to use the show's history . look at Greg Rikaart -the guy can pull off creepy characters . Alan was Sami's rapist . Greg would have been awesome as Alan returning to get revenge on Sami for shooting his balls off . instead of Sami returning to ursher off faux EJ , she could have had a more constructive return battling Alan and trying to save Will from his clutches.

Can I start by saying I love Eric and Nicole? I do.

Whatever serious problems there have been with the details behind this baby switch story, I have to respect the fact that it is paying off in interesting ways for so many characters and watching the Dominos fall is starting to give us some really interesting scenes. If we had to have another instance of Nicole keeping some secret from Eric, this one made sense. I love the fact that he didn't go off on her and I love the fact that it visibly hurt her to have to tell Eric his daughter had died. I also love the fact that she was looking out for Mickey by saying they can continue to pretend she was really Eric and Sarah's child. Nicole has every reason to be insecure and sever the connection between Eric and Sarah permanently, but instead Nicole unselfishly thought of the child and the danger being Kristen's infant would pose to her. I was a little surprised she didn't record the conversation with the doctor or get any kind of actual evidence, but judging from the way she was talking today, Nicole was probably considering keeping the secret all along, knowing how dangerous Kristen is. (I realize the writers are so sloppy that this kind of subtlety is probably beyond them, but I like the fact that in this one instance it kind of works out that Nicole, while investigating, probably knew she still didn't want to give the child over to Kristen at the end of the day and therefore didn't create evidence that would help Kristen gain control of Mickey's life.)

I would actually really like it if Eric and Nicole kept the secret from Brady and Kristen for a while. The Brady Eric Dynamics have always been interesting, and the bottom line is Brady is a terrible father. He barely spends any time with Tate and routinely gets involved with a homicidal maniac. As bad as Kristen would be as a mom, Brady ain't no prize either.

Plus, Nicole has the perfect out - the DNA test proved her theory was wrong. She doesn't have to tell anybody she tracked down the doctor in New York and this would allow Xander to go on thinking his scheme had never been discovered. Instead, she gave Eric all the information and promised to support him regardless of his decision. Bravo Nicole.

Great episode for them and a really emotional cliffhanger.

Sidenote: nice outfit Rolfe.

I haven't seen any of this onscreen with the current storylines so maybe this would be a more appropriate posting for the fan fic thread.

What the hell is Sarah wearing?

Jesus, Eric, lighten up.

Yeah, Marlena just had brain surgery, but she should be up and around in a day or two.

Kayla violating HIPAA rules again.

If Eric doesn't tell Brady and Kristen the truth, then he has no right to question Nicole about anything she lies about again

Yes, and amazingly, all her hair is still there and she doesn't even have a Band-Aid!!  Plus, she's ready to get frisky with John.  They aren't even TRYING any more, are they?

So Maggie apparently turned herself in, and is automatically in prison without even a pretense of a trial?  Yup, that sounds like justice in Salem.

Just Noticed Peachmangosteen mentioned a neck bandage.  Is this how they do brain surgery now?

I enjoy classic babyswitch storylines, but I don't think I have ever been rooting for the rightful parents NOT to get their child until now.  Scratch that, I may have rooted for 2 minutes for Nicole to keep Sydney but ultimately I did want her going to Sami. Mainly because Sami had her issues but she isn't the nesting doll of homicidal crazy that is Kristen.

I was exasperated when I learned Nicole would figure it out because I imagined another round of Nicole keeps another crucial secret from Eric. I was pleasantly surprised that Nicole told him right away and that Eric believed. I guess it would make too much sense to get another secret paternity test (outside Salem U hospital) to be sure? I found myself secretly hoping for a double switcheroo where maybe the babies were mislabeled before Dr. Rainier performed CPR but I guess that is hoping for too much.

Am I supposed to be rooting for this shit! The villain getting a baby is an interesting twist, but doesn't make for a satisfying s/l conclusion. It actually disgusts me. I plan on FF the scenes of Kristen being reunited with Rachel, much as I FF most of the scenes of her redemption. Kristen attempting to take the moral high ground and school any character on this show (Gabby or Nicole) is an outrageous.

Kristen disgusts. Just the sight of her. Ron's attempt to redeem her are worse than what he is trying with Ben. Ben sucks and is irredeemable but at least he spent some time in the loony bin and jail.  Ever time Kristen walks into the Salem PD HQ, the DA starts giving out immunity cards like PEZ. The fact that she gets a healthy baby, the love of her life with no real consequences for all her actions is the worst.

Brady getting back with her disgusts. I've been tired of Brady's crap and especially his love life for years, but this just tears it.  I had wished the bullet Chad hit him with would've put him (and me) out of his misery or at the very least put Brady in a nice quiet coma for a few months.

I didn't watch but Marlena definitely had a bandage around her neck and it had me rolling. I do think they established that the chip is maybe like implanted through the back of the neck but still the whole thing is just hilariously stupid.

That wasn't meant as a slam at you. I'm sorry if it came off that way. I just thought that particular plot was unlikely, to say the least. (And the producers of that show were weirdly coy about what Adam's manipulations of their Rafe character meant.) Back on topic: we're agreed, I think, that Carlivati is a toolacious tooly-tool.

I'm glad Nicole told Eric the truth and that he handled it rather well considering I expected a lot worse tbh. I think Nicole was crazy to think Eric would've kept this secret but I'm thinking about it and I think it might've made a better story but the twist was that Eric knew.

It would've added layers to this story(which is a lost art these days)

Eric vs Brady, Brady/Nicole's friendship tested, Nicole vs Kristen, Eric vs Kristen.

Jarlena would be caught in the middle understanding why Nicole did it but hate that Brady gets hurt.

Instead we have a neutered Kristen, Jarlena in these wacky adventures they're too old to pull off, and Brady too dumb to function with no real self respect apparently.

I never thought I consider Eric/Nicole to be the only ones to not look bad here in comparison.

Ooooh, touche! I forgot about Abe. Yeah, he probably wouldn't be able to keep his mouth shut. Then again, he saw firsthand how Lexi finding out that she was a DiMera changed the course of her life. Suddenly Stefano had a hold over her. Perhaps he would want to protect Mickey from that same situation.

...I guess we should start calling her Rachel now though, shouldn't we?

1 hour ago, DaphneCat said:

I was confused by the neck bandage too, and then I realized that I guess they're trying to say that Marlena's brain chip was actually lodged in her neck. I guess that kind of tracks, what with Hope having been rubbing her neck a lot last fall. But then if it's a neck chip, call it a neck chip, not a brain chip.

I'm going to handwave Marlena's hand-holding of Kristen as being drug-induced. I assume she's still somewhat sedated. I can't imagine sober Marlena having any kind of gratitude towards Kristen, even if only for Brady's sake.

Even though the writing for them has been pretty weak, I still like Xander and Sarah. It is going to be rough watching her fall apart. Xander hasn't done sad and weepy very well, so I wonder which way this is going to go. Is he going to immediately blow up and become angry and violent once the secret is exposed, or are they going to try to make him pout and blubber? I really don't want either option at this point because I'm tired of Xander being angry and dangerous but I don't think Telfer can pull off the brokenhearted emotional stuff. Maybe he'll rise to the occasion though. I'm glad he stayed around and became a full-timer. I would just like it better if he could pull off sad and vulnerable Xander.

The whole neck/brain situation - the chip was inserted into the neck (without even sterilizing the area or moving the hair) and then it takes a few days to be effective, for some reason. That must be while it makes its way into the brain to replace the personality? And if Kayla said that Rolf followed the procedure step by step when he removed Marlena's chip, how the hell does SHE know what the process is? Just because he did the same thing he did when he removed Hope's chip doesn't mean a thing since I still believe she's Gina.

Also, when Hope woke up, she had no memories of what she had done until Jenn and Kayla told her. Then, all of a sudden she remembers where Steveano might be? And today Marlena remembered that Kristen tried to intervene during the wedding, so which is it? Do they remember what they did when they were chipped, or not?

And how stupid was it for Rolf to be allowed in Stevano's room alone to plan their next game? So what if the policeman was standing OUTSIDE of his room.

The only positive thing is that these stores seem to be moving along  and it looks like the baby switch will be revealed to all within the next two weeks. I still think there is at least one other switch that happened since there were 3 or 4 babies born that night, but they will wait and play that card later (speculation).

Victor gets away with everything.  It’s kind of annoying.  He was trying to protect Maggie.  What about Brady ?   Brady should just cut ties with his grandfather.

I liked Nicole being honest with Eric about the baby switch. She has a lot of insecurities, she has lied to basically protect herself for most of her life. Nicole did an adult thing - even if it meant that she might lose Eric. And Eric didn't react like he usually did. He listened to her, he respected what she said, he saw her pain, he saw how Kristen is and how Nicole was really looking out for the baby. Nothing about Nicole's investigation was mean spirited or about revenge - she was looking for truth and that Eric has a right to know when she found it. Both know how monstrous Kristen has been in the past and her current shift to a nice person may not be permanent. Would her getting her baby back be the right thing? Brady isn't the world's greatest dad either.

The chip stayed in Marlena's neck? Dr. Rolf will be loyal to the idea of Steffy for the rest of his life. He's not going to take that chip out unless he has some good incentive to do so.

I laughed when Xander asked Justin to marry him.

Sarah's duster coat was a little long. Her hair and makeup was good today.

Yeah this is what I don't like... in the past Victor at least got people to hate him for more than 5 seconds rather than just go "Its just Victor being Victor"

I mean Xander will get rightfully dragged but Victor should also get an equal dragging. That being said he's also the only smart person in Salem to hate Ben and Kristen and not want his grandchildren anywhere near them.

As much as we complain about Kristen and to an extent Gabi, Victor is free to terrorize and is instantly hand waived with no consequence.

Is Gina that good at pretending to be Hope? She tried it once already with ShutUp!Rafe. It did not go well. (And if you can't fool ShutUp!Rafe, you should probably get out of the pretending business.)

In other news: Nicole is such a hypocrite. She has to know the truth, but no one else deserves to? I honestly think I liked "Nicky" better when she was married to Elvis. At least then no one had to pretend she was a good person.

Edited to add: I agree Telfer definitely can't pull off sincere, broken-hearted Xander.

A fair point -- but I will stipulate to the same ... uh, evidentiary limitation.

I don't think Will and Sonny (or Justin, or that matter) are likely to move out of the Kiriakis Pile, any more than Maggie's likely to divorce Victor. But would I be sad if Bonehead Black decided to put Pop-Up Victor into Shady (And We Do Mean Shady) Oaks Home For Aging Mobsters? I would not.

I think Eric's reaction was pretty proportionate to the offense; I thought Greg Vaughan did a nice job with those scenes, on the whole. But I begin to wonder if someone on the writing staff gets, shall we say, the naughty kind of excited at seeing Vaughan cry? Eric couldn't catch a break with both hands and a mitt.

I am so glad someone said this because it is true. I don't think or believe that Jarlena should be put out to pasture due to their ages but the constant cycle of every man or woman eligible for an AARP card (except Greg Rikaart aka Leo) who swans into Salem plotting to kidnap and/or murder one of them just so that they can have John/Marlena is beyond tired and ridiculous.

They are and should be positioned as the new partriarch and matriarch of Salem fulfilling the roles once occupied by Alice and Tom. There has to be story for them besides interlopers every 6-8 months or remarrying every 3-5 years.  They can still be sexual beings with sexy times but can we please forego John trying to smash when Marlena is barely out of the OR and still groggy from anaesthesia after major surgery? I loved when Marlena became entwined in Claire's descent into madness story. More of that please. less Marlena on the Ben is a saint train. John is a bit long in the tooth to be an active agent but I can buy his private PI work. Also, I can see him working as consultant to the inept Salem PD, investigating for months, catching the bad guy, big reveal followed by the usual - making some deal with the DA, unless they are innocent, in which case they go to jail for a few months. Sweet Salem justice!

I've started watching the show in a small window as I work -- easier said than done, but when I have a quiet half hour I can do it. I don't know if it's viewing it that way or not, but this show is terribly boring, lol, even with all the drama around the microchips and the surgeries. Not to mention that I hate what's clearly coming now that the baby's identity is known.

Where's Jack and Jennifer? Can't Marlena and John go take a nice, long vacation somewhere else?

I don't know, guys, this is all trying my patience when it's already kind of thin.

On today's episode, I have to admit that I actually saw a glimmer of what a redeemed Kristen could look like--her apology to Nicole was straightforward without any kind of tears or histrionics. and I believed she was genuinely sorry for the hurt she caused.

Sarah, on the other hand, was annoying the crap out of me during her conversation with Xander--what was with the high-pitched cutesy baby voice and her constantly covering her face with her hands?  Dear god, it was like she was interacting with a child.

Don't care one iota about Steveano and his La Familia.

I rather liked Sarah's excitement & over the top enthusiasm, she is getting married, she thinks her daughter is well, with her hair pulled back, she looked fresh-face & young.  Sarah(Lindsay) & Xander(Paul) have good chemistry, and I am Not looking forward to seeing Sarah's heart-ache.  I could care less about Stevano & his kids...was I supposed to be emotionally moved by that scene?!  I was not, boo-hoo, cry me a river Stevano...your kids are adults, no need to manipulate them.

WHY do I think that whole thing with Stevano saying goodbye to his "children" was some sort of trick?  Yesterday, he was allowed to be alone with Rolf, and today he was telling himself that he still had tricks up his sleeve.  Both he and Rolf saw Stevano being forced into surgery a MILE away. I can't help but think he and Rolf came up with some stupid "plan" and Stevano was doing SOMETHING when they all came to visit him.

PLEASE, I am BEGGING anyone who will listen, MAKE THE STEFANO CRAP STOP!!!!  No more microchips, no clones, no brainwashed pawns.  Just stop.  Joe is gone, Stefano should be gone.

Have to agree about Sarah.  If I remember correctly, this is the way she acted when she was 1st on the show.   She got on my nerves then and she certainly did today.  Hard to believe she is supposed to be a surgeon when she acts so silly.  There's a way to be excited about getting married than acting like a 10 yr. old.

Anything important happen during the last 1/2 of he show?   We had Gov.'s new conference 1/2 way through to report that MD/DC/VA corridor is now being considered as a hotspot.

Abigail: My uncle is in the hospital having brain surgery, but hey, everything's back to normal.

"There;s only one you." Not true, how many years did Andre pretend to be Tony?

The man you love, Kayla?  Justin should hear that.

I laughed when Stefano said "La famiglia" and Tony and Kristen turned to look at Chad.

This. She is insufferable.

Sorry, reading that makes me happy. Justin is a nice guy (albeit gray), but in the saga of Steve/Kayla, he will always be sloppy seconds.

Sarah sounded as if she had breathed in to a balloon too many for her upcoming wedding.

It was nice to see some adults talking in Eric's apartment. He did make the right decision to talk to Sarah first about the baby switch. Finding the clueless lab person and getting the right results is proof.

I too side-eyed Chad when 'la famiglia' was mentioned.

Kayla, you should not be operating on your ex-husband. Justin will always be #2. And no, I too do not trust Dr. Rolf. He is too loyal to Stefano. Stefano should be buried and not really mentioned for a while.

That should have happened the moment Joseph Mascolo died. Not only was this storyline a cartoon, I think it was also disrespectful as hell. If a writer cannot think of a new villain and must disrespect history and a departed actor, that "writer" should not even be employed.

They don't have to think of a new villain there are many from Days past they could choose Orpheus could've taken the Stefano role. Or even Lawrence heck Deimos had potential at one point.

Although I would prefer they move on from having a resident villain as there seems to be no moral compass or boundaries with this show anyways.

This times about a million.  It was so fitting when they had his "memorial" at the Brady Pub.  That should have been the end.  There are MANY ways they could introduce new villains.  I, for one, would prefer a villain who is more "human" - not some all-powerful cartoon.

I thought this was going to end soon!!! Argh. And the whole Kayla/Justin thing seems sweet to me but come on, no match for the Steve and Kayla pairing. It's just stupid. Aaarggh.

Did anybody really read Ben the riot act for each of the individual women he murdered? Did we ever get to meet Serena's family or the family of the midwife? I know he got crap over Paige's death and Will's, but that's about it. He only got 50% of the crap that was coming to him. Watching him today with Christian was really...special.

Ben Weston for DA, I guess.

Hey Mister Necktie, the time to remember how special and important Jordan is has passed. Remember when Clyde first came back to town and Jordan was so spooked that she warned you to stay away from him and instead you started accepting his offer to buy you and Abigail a house? And then she left town just to get away from him? Yeah. Where was your loyalty then? You saw him murder someone as a kid, but you were still willing to accept his handouts and give him a second chance? Even after your abused sister took you on the run for years to get away from him?

.....you know I never really thought about how much the "I watched Daddy murder someone" retcon screwed with Ben's history when he first showed up on the show. I mean, he and Jordan being on the run as teens with fake names for years while she works in the medical industry was enough of a stretch, but now, how do you explain him even speaking to Clyde again having known since childhood that he's a murder? (Did Ron write it as a repressed memory? I can't really remember. That whole scene with Ben and Ciara at the pub talking about it was like 2 years ago.)

I cannot believe they made that chip beep, talk in a female voice and self-destruct. 🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄
