Such a big deal about aurora getting her ears pierced and kody says he doesn’t even remember when the other girls got theirs pierced.

 And the wives couldn’t have pierced ears until robin came along and the rules got changed.

Well I am not done with this episode yet, but I just had to post. I’m so happy that I got to see the “daddy and daughter “ear piercing part. So glad that Cody could be there for whichever Robynette that that was in her stressful time of having her ears pierced at what, age 20? Too bad he couldn’t have been there for Ysabel’s surgery. I’m sure all his not Robyn’s children will enjoy watching that tender fun moment.

It would be helpful to know when the TH interview are done.  Is Kody still angry in 2023?  Is Robyn continuing to complain about coming into the family and being misled?   I know the TH is supposed to give perspective as if the scene happened 5 minutes before  the TH… but you can’t fake the anger that Kody still has in the TH.  So is he still angry today or was the TH filmed a year ago?

Maybe it is the same person who styled Meri's hair in her talking head. During one of them there were pieces of her hair sticking straight out from her head.

So supposedly Robyn's kids asked why Janelle (and possibly the other kids) do not care about them enough to go to her house for Thanksgiving. I would think most of the adult kids in Robyn's house would realize that Janelle would rather spend holidays with her kids. I also think that Meri would rather spend the holidays with Leon than be at Robyn's, but hey she got a tiny bit of filming by going to Robyn's. 

Kody, a majority of your kids are adults. They do not live at home. Some have their own families.They can make their own decisions and have their own opinions about you and Robyn. They do not need their mother's to brainwash them or whatever you are trying to claim. It would be really nice if he could comprehend that.

So is Mykelti the only kid that has somewhat of a relationship with Kody and Robyn? I mean, I am sure some or most of them are cordial if and when they speak to Kody, but it sounded like Mykelti talks to Kody and Robyn fairly regularly.

This.   In addition, he needs to quit demanding that people choose sides.   Christine was a large part of the kids lives all of their lives.They saw her daily ( they didn't see him daily) and she took care of them.  They aren’t going to ignore her now.  His expecting them to is just causing the wedge between them and him to be deeper.

I don't understand why Kody and Robyn can't seem to wrap their heads around the fact that kids grow up, move away, start families of their own and holidays start to look different.  Even if the Browns were one big, cohesive, happy, loving family with no drama to speak of, this would still happen. 

For them to think that everyone should always just continue gather at Robyn's for every occasion is beyond ridiculous.

So Christine was royalty in their church yet had double pierced ears?  That does not make any sense to me.

Kody's excitement about Aurora getting her ears pierced was so over the top.  And, of course, he has zero recollection about any of his other kids getting their ears pierced.  He's such a douche.

I haven't watched the episode yet, but why is a 20 year old young woman having her father take her to get her ears pierced?? Doesn't Aurora have friends? And why would there be drama at that age? At first I thought it was a typo and it was really Ariella getting her ears pierced. 

Robyn's kids seem a bit stifled and kept at home compared to Christine, Janelle, and Meri's kids. And Kody's relationship and constant concern over Aurora is just creepy. He doesn't seem to fuss over any of the other kids that way, even Robyn's other daughter Brianna.

I have watched sister wives since day one and last nights episode absolutely sickened me!! To watch Cody gush over his “daddy/daughter” moment of watching Aurora get her ears pierced made me want to reach through the TV and slap him. What does he expect from the other wives when he can’t be bothered to be there for the surgery of his daughter by blood or go visit his other daughter by blood when she had her baby? I truly wish instead of Janelle telling Cody “F YOU” that she told him if you walk out that door right now you won’t be walking back in so don’t let the door hit you in a$$ when you go through it. I have also said since about the 4th or 5th episode that Robyn appeared in that Cody was showing a LOT of favoritism towards her. If “WE” can see it, why the in the world can’t he, especially when it is being pointed out with specific instances and not just as a General statement?

That was Kody trying to show us he cares for someone or something!  He doesn’t care about anything but the show then Robin. Kids just aren’t his thing and he has proven that over and over again!

 I feel so sorry for anyone connected to Kody.   He’s a poor excuse for a father.

Kodys relationship with Robyns older girls is just weird. 

My Ear piercing situation was petty yet revealing on 3 levels. 1) more evidence that the rules don’t apply to Robyn and kids. No one was allowed eat piercing until she had it, then it’s cool. That is so infuriating, hurtful, and harmful to have religious rules that affect your eternal soul totally dismissed on a whim. 2) you can’t go with one minor child for surgery but can go with an adult child for ear piercing? Most of the moms were married by the time they were auroras age. 3) why does a 20 year old need permission or support for ear piercing UNLESS she is brainwashed into thinking she needs her adopted fathers permission for something that minor. God help her if she ever needs to make a real medical or legal decision.

Auroras ear piercing drama actually makes me have far more respect for the kids who grew up and got away, especially even Leon, bc that’s to me the hugest example of making your own independent choices: they moved away, came out, transitioned, left the church of Kody, kept distance, etc. But Aurora needs a life coach and almost dies bc she wants her ears pierced.

This is what I do not get. Christine was the granddaughter of AUB Grand Poobah Rulon Allred, and then after her other fundy Mormon grandfather, Ervil LeBaron had Rulon murdered, Rulon's brother, Owen (i.e. Christine's great-uncle) became Grand Poobah.

If Christine could have double piercings as a AUB princess royal, and Robyn's AUB adoptive father took her to get her ears pierced, who said piercings were verboten in their cult? Was it the cult, or was it just Kody and/or his family of origin (who were AUB newbies, when the OG3 married that mess)?

This smells a lot like a rule Kody instituted (like how he was mortally wounded to learn people would serve pork at a Hawaiian luau).

A couple of things that stood out to me in this episode. When Kody and  Christine were having lunch at one point he told her that he had evil thoughts about her and then he took his clinched  fist and threw it across his chest like what he really wanted to do what hit her.  As far as the ear piercing Kody admitted that his first three wives stopped wearing earrings at his request because he considered them sinful or some such nonsense.  But when Robyn came into the family all of a sudden he had a revelation that earrings are OK. 

A 19 year old girl needing or wanting her daddy to take her to have her ears pierced, please. I half expected to see Kody carrying her back to the car like he did when she became catatonic and he carried her to her room during the discussion of where they were going to live after the rental was sold.

So Robyn doesn't see any dealbreakers between Christine and Kody?!?! So kind of her. So she doesn't think Kody failing to go to a serious surgery of a child is wrong? Spending little to no time with Christine or her kids and when he is there, isn't really present? Or worse yet, texting with Robyn! Kody unilaterally cutting off the nookie? Treating Christine's tenderette as a red-headed stepchild to such an extent that she suffers kidney failure while under his "care." Isn't it nice that someone getting a full time husband, sees nothing wrong when another wife doesn't even get scraps. 

Do Robyn or Kody even hear themselves? Christine is 1000%  right about one thing - Robyn has never, ever lived plural marriage or life. Ever! 

Christine being happy and giddy to no longer be married to Kody is what is killing him and his ego, and fueling his anger and I. LOVE. IT!!!! I remember last season when he seemed so terse and angry about Christine getting 'his stink' off herself and seeing how non-reactive and disengaged she was towards him. She really went to therapy and/or learned how to deal with a narc! She gives him nothing to work with and you could see him testing her and trying to get to her during that dinner, but she was like a ninja, evading all his emotional traps. You could see that her boundaries are set and firm like the Great Wall. Total rockstar! 

I want to know more everything about that group chat!! That was the most fascinating part of the episode for me. So the kids were discussing a kids only gift exchange and all was good until grown ass Robyn stuck her fat, wide neck into the situation and demanded a zoom meeting and then everything went to shit! The whole nice idea was derailed and the family fractured even further.  Now Robyn is sitting in an interview talking like a victim - AGAIN! Why is Robyn always the common denominator in the bullshit!? Why was her ass even involved?!? I wouldn't be surprised that she insisted on the zoom meeting knowing damn good and well how hard it is to organize all those damn kids with their own lives, families and in different time zones. And Kody calls Christine of all people Machiavellian. Kody needs to look over at his favorite and sole pencil case/sharpener. 

I am really having trouble reconciling so many of the OG wives and kids saying that Kody was such a good and involved dad. Since so many have said it, I am kinda forced to take it as truth, but damn he must've been a completely different person back then or they are all brainwashed. I guess I would want to know what they consider a good dad.

Was surprised Aurora didn't have to be carried to and from the piercing appointment hyperventilating. The tenderettes are in great danger of being failure to launch adults. Kody talking about how Aurora respects his authority so totally just skeeves me out.

She was behaving like a pre-teen who desperately needed her daddy and Kody was the big patriarch who , after she asked his permission , allowed her to do it.

I’ve seen a lot of comments on a young adult woman having a parent accompany her to get ears pierced. That alone doesn’t bother me or strike me as odd. My daughter is 19. I have gone with her for some of her piercings and tattoos. My husband has gone with her for others. First - she is a smart kid. She knows if we go, we usually pay. Second, even adults like to have someone there to hold a hand. When I got my last piercing, my husband went with me. I’m 53. Sure I could do it by myself but you always end up with a bit of a wait and I like the company, plus it does hurt (momentarily) and I like a familiar hand to squeeze.

I DO think that Kody’s glee over this daddy-daughter moment that he likely will not have with any other non-Robyn daughter was weird. I think this whole scene was included to demonstrate how Kody really does treat Robyn’s kids differently than any of his other children.

So glad that Kody was able to be at the ear piercing, you never know when a case of the vapors for Aurora would have happened, yet he couldn't go to a major surgery for Ysabel, what an imbecile. @islandgal140 I totally agree, what the heck did Robyn get involved AT ALL with the gift exchange between the kids? Cry all those fake tears and poor widdle Robyn and her kids are so damaged by them not being "part" of the family. Kody only cares for the people who obey him, and worship him. What an ass.

Yeah. It’s not weird that Kody went with Aurora, it is weird how he acted in light of the fact that he refused to go to Ysabel’s serious back surgery!

Christine's joy is the most engaging thing about season 18 to date.

Although, Meri lowkey revealing some of her real thoughts about Kody (at least in the interviews) is decent TV, too. I also forgot how funny she could be.

And watching Janelle's bewilderment turn to disenchantment is interesting. I wait in hope of it maturing into righteous fury.

I agree. At the beginning of the series too, they all lived in the same house and had for four or five years. Even if it was one wife's night, the kids were hanging with each other and saw much more of him. There was only one yard. There was no travel.

I do think the move to Vegas (and especially when they were in the scattered rental properties) spelled the beginning of the end of Kody's decent parenting years.

Plus, all of the OG3's kids were getting older. Kody likes the little ones, because they don't yet understand that parents are fallible human beings.

Just posting now - if I said something said previously I am sorry - just dropped my oldest at college for the first time so it was emotional - but a couple of thoughts from yesterday about the show I needed to vent about - 

First -the show is in 2021- did we need to see the ear piercing segment? Does anyone here even care? Was that supposed to humanize Kody - to me it showed just how awful he was that he didn't know what his other children did. And it was a colossal waste of precious time.

Which brings me to point two - instead of wasting time on ear piercing I wanted to know so much more about the zoom call.  And I am guessing it was Mykelti who suggested the parents get involved - I mean they are mostly over 18 I do not think parents needed to be involved. And if Logan was spearheading it, I don't think the parents were involved at all. And what turned out to be a nice thing for siblings had to be derailed by Robyn. I would love to know what she said in that call

And just to be mean - Robyn's house is ugly - no wonder she doesn't allow film crews or Meri in - I mean just seeing that weird Chair and Kody in it was enough for me.

About Thanksgiving, not for nothing but just judging from last season, who da hell would want to spend a holiday at Robyn's? The hostest with the mostest she isn't. She just didn't have warm, welcoming energy and having guests seemed like an imposition. She just seems so low energy and stilted at the rare times when the extended family is at her place.  

Plus, she never struck me as much of a cook and I feel like this has been said a few times on the show.

Wow, Christine and Janelle really took off the gloves.  Christine saying flat out that Robyn was the favorite wife and she was never part of a plural marriage.  Kody immediately made Robyn his one and only wife and started treating the others as exes.  Then Janelle calling out Kody's Covid BS when she said that after the pandemic was over, he and Robyn came up with a new excuse to keep the families apart.

Well, Meri finally made it into Robyn’s house since it was Thanksgiving. I guess that is a plus.

My wife and I were commenting during each Thanksgiving scene how warm and inviting each wife's Thanksgiving was compared to Robyn's Table of Silence. Even Janelle and Christine's FaceTime of Rolls was more spirited and jolly than the grim, tight faces of the Tenders, the Monogamists, and the Hanger-On. I'm not a huge Thanksgiving person, but I'd rather sit at home drinking champagne and eating a Lean Cuisine than go to that sad, unfestive Thanksgiving at Robyn's. This is what Meri has been angling to get invited to?
