At least here it was, for sure!🤣 I was sure I was the only one who was going to miss FJ because I couldn’t think of David McCallum’s last name. (“Illya Kuryakin“ was my insta-wrong.) I missed that the category was TV & FILM CHARACTERS. 🙃 2 Link to comment

If I had gotten Friday wrong my New Orleanian card would have been taken away! Chargrilled oysters. Not from Lake Pontchartrain, but there are so many restaurants on the lake to chill with seafood, live music, and a cocktail 1 1 3 Link to comment

j5cochran June 19, 2023 Share June 19, 2023 (edited) Week forty: three of five, none of the asterisks! Darn you, Ilya Kuryakin! I just tried a new recipe, Tuscan Shrimp Pasta, with loads of garlic and onion and spinach and shrimp, and a creamy buttery sauce over angel hair. I'll bring that, if someone else will bring the mouthwash! Edited June 19, 2023 by j5cochran 2 1 1 4 Link to comment
Grundoon59 June 19, 2023 Share June 19, 2023 4/5 with one * - couldn't get my brain to Pontchartrain in time (I was in more northern climes in my brain even though I should have known better from the explorer's name). There was some point where I had to read the play Antigone more than once so got that plus Travolta and HUAC pretty easily. I initially said Illya first but then the premiere date seemed wrong, and I got to Chekov at the very last second. Still having a lack of food imagination (everybody's contributions sound yummy) so I will bring vodka and mixers in honor of Illya & Pavel. 2 5 Link to comment

Since sandwiches have 2 slices of bread, I'll bring a variety of fixings. And since it's now summer: The mayonnaise will be in the ice chest. And to further avoid tummy upsets: Do not double-dip your spreading knives without thoroughly first removing any possible crumb or other transfer. 6 Link to comment

30 Helens June 25, 2023 Share June 25, 2023 0/5. Nothing clicked for me this week. You can find me alone in the corner with a pitcher of Bloody Mary. No glass needed. (I have an extra straw, if anyone wants to join me.) 3 2 2 Link to comment

Toothbrush June 25, 2023 Share June 25, 2023 3/5 no * I originally guessed Oprah for Monday then thought no, Bezos would not give $$ to Oprah, then went with Lady GaGa. Did not even think of my queen Dolly. Guessed handball for Tuesday, but was so proud of myself for getting Monroe. I always forget about Monroe! A friend of mine sent some homemade nectarine jam to us and my daughter made drop biscuits, so homemade biscuits & nectarine jam for all 😋 3 1 3 Link to comment
Grundoon59 June 26, 2023 Share June 26, 2023 (edited) Managed 4/5 with 2*. Dolly I was reasonably certain of but table tennis was a long shot guess that paid off. I recently rewatched Martin Clunes' Islands of Australia which helped me picture the area well (side note - I would recommend any of his Islands of programs - I think they are on Acorn - good travel porn, informative but fun) and I think I would have had to turn in my W&M history degree if I hadn't gotten Monroe. I am embarrassed to admit I haven't read Willa Cather so my brain was going all over the place to other authors who didn't fit. I think I finally landed on Lucy Maud Montgomery just to have an answer and for that I blame Murdoch Mysteries. I will bring some pitchers of iced tea in case some folks don't want bloody mary (but I will happily join @30 Helens). Edited June 27, 2023 by Grundoon59 Error in typing 2 1 4 Link to comment
