Even at his tender age, Gabe is already more of a man than this dipshit will ever be.  Kody made me more angry this week than he has in years.  Gabe is in so much pain.  He just wants to feel like he has a father and he knows that he’ll never be able to compete with Robyn and her children.  How dare Kody refer to Janelle as the “Teflon Queen” to her own son.  She has made an honest effort to adhere to his standards, but who can blame either her or Christine for gradually deciding to do their own thing when all they get from their ludicrous “husband” is the occasional appearance at dinner and maybe some sex every now and then?  This comes down to a petty power struggle from Kody’s perspective.  We’ve heard him insisting that he’s the leader of the family far more than his concerns about contracting Covid.

Robyn was the worst thing that ever happened to this family.  Kody would have more of my respect (well, sort of) if he just looked at the camera, shrugged, and said, “I care more about Robyn and my kids with her.  Not sorry!”  I’d prefer that over watching the glaring, irrefutable evidence of it each week.

Robyn scrunching her face up to try to squeeze some tears out for Janelle’s mom passing was nauseating. And in true queen bee fashion, Robyn even makes this about her - “She was always nice to me because she was also a last wife” instead of “I can’t imagine how awful it must be for Janelle to lose her mother right before Christmas.” What a witch. 
 

Kody saying Robyn would never forgive him if he missed Xmas because he caught COVID at Janelle’s mom’s funeral made me rage and I have no personal investment in these people. What must it be like to be one of the non-Robyn’s house kids hearing your Dad say things like this.

Between Kody’s boxes in the garage and the “childcare provider” getting COVID, I cackled at the preview for next week.

I’ve suspected that Kody hasn’t been intimate with the other wives for a long time. Janelle doesn’t care and Christine and Meri do. So I don’t see Meri as any more desperate than the others. It was very telling that Robyn said her kids can’t go two days without seeing their dad; if he was dividing his time among the households they would be used to that. It looked like Robyn was wearing one of those expensive Canadian Goose parkas when she was sitting out with Janelle. I’m betting her house gets the most out of what money they have.

I think the reason that Robyn even came to Janelle’s house at all is because King Kody was quarantining there. Joseph Smith forbid he got any alone time with a grieving Janelle.

The homeschooling must be pretty pathetic if a kid Ari’s age is having trouble remembering her siblings. By December 2020 it had been 7.5 months of COVID not 7.5 years and they did sometimes get together outside. Good grief.

Every week Kody hits a new, even lower, low.  Realizing he wasn’t responding to Gabe’s pointed comments that in 7 months Kody hadn’t bothered to once have a conversation with his sons about his reasons and rules around Covid, not because he was sorry or coming to the realization he failed them, but because he was PISSED about being called out, OMG.  Gabe being mature enough to show his pain already proves he’s long sense surpassed his father in emotional maturity.  How could this idiot not have been FaceTiming every kid at least 3-4x a week and have had multiple in depth conversations with each of them is beyond me.  It really goes to show that for the first 6 months with Kodys “I’m the only one who can travel” was truly not about safety at all, I was only about making everything easy and convenient for Kody.  Pretty sure when Ariella starts her Linda Blair act, Kody was out the door doing his “duty visits” (which consisted of eating dinner, playing on his phone and maybe playing a board game with Truly - who has never been spoiled and unruly).  So sad that Janelles Mom died and I suspect if Kody thought he could get away with it, he wouldn’t have gone to the funeral himself!  All he worried about was the hell he’d catch from Robyn if he messed up her kids Christmas by getting Covid!  Then Robyn admits her kids can’t last two days not seeing Kody…and I suspect she can’t handle two days with just 5 adults to manage Sol and Ari!  (And by that I mean she’s got one kid who is a teen, at an age to babysit, 2 who are 18+ and a Nanny….plus herself).  This episode was just infuriating to watch…but kudos to Christine in those previews…love, love, love that she had the balls to pack up his stuff and get it out of her house!

Quarantine aside, why can't Kody see that Gabe was basically asking why he doesn't hear from his dad? He misses talking to him. If you are going to quarantine then fine, then set up an agreement with your kids that you will call or facetime with them several times per week so you can catch up with them, their lives, etc... he could take a minute out of his oh so busy day to shoot them a text and let them know you love them and miss seeing them!  What is preventing Kody from doing that? It sounds to me like he is not in touch with them much at all and there is no excuse for that what so ever! I think Gabe and Ysabel are hurting the most because they are teens and still in high school and they miss their dad. The other kids are either too young and the older are out of the house with their own lives to the point where they don't need Kody as much. I also blame Robyn for Kody's disconnect with his other kids because she could be reminding him to contact his kids more often. Just say "hey, have you called Gabe lately"? or why don't you give Ysabel a call, I bet she's missing you. Or is that not allowed in the polygamy lifestyle? To remind the king that he has other kids?

The first part of this episode was just heartbreaking. Gabe pouring his heart out to his soulless pos father, who just blew him off was so hard to watch. Kody gives zero fucks about any of his not Robin’s children. Every episode this season just revealed more and more of what a despicable narcissist we always knew he was. 
On a lighter note, has there ever been an episode in the last couple of seasons where Sobyn didn’t squeeze out some tears? She and Kody destroyed this family. They deserve each other. i hope the other women all move on, get their own spinoffs and leave Kody and Robin in the dust with no TLC check. I do feel sorry for the kids though

What simultaneously blows my mind and breaks my heart is Gabe demonstrated maturity, emotional intelligence and logic that not only far surpasses his peers but more importantly his own father. And it is his commitment to Covid protocol that has been questioned this entire time? He seems like a great kid and smart too. Janelle and Christine did well raising him. 

I believe that Janelle’s family was following current CDC guidelines at the time. Guidelines are best practices, not mandates. Kody expected them to follow his version of rules by mandate, when he was not even following them himself, and had not previously communicated his expectations.

I didn’t think it was possible to despise King Kodouche more, but I’m proven wrong tonight. My heart broke for Gabe. What a mature and strong young man, and to hear him say he and his siblings were jealous of Robyn for getting to see Kody more than they do was just so sad, especially considering Kody didn’t seem to even register how tragic that comment is. His true colors were revealed when Gabe said he quarantined for two weeks from his girlfriend so that he could see Kody and you could see him fumbling to explain his way out of that one; looks like he knew but decided not to see Gabe anyway— and his excuse? That he doesn’t know who he can trust! What a sick dude.

Now Kody’s not beating around the bush about things at all; he likes Robyn best because she’s obedient to him! Wonder how she feels seeing these episodes…

Very happy to see Christine getting stronger and confident in herself. 
 

Heartbreaking about Janelle’s mom. When Janelle was saying her mom wanted to be with her husband in heaven, was she referring to Winn? I assume so but was not totally sure…

Kody is such a controlling jerk. He throws Christine and Janelle under the bus (while ghosting Meri entirely) and blames them for him staying at home with Robyn. He disregards that two of his wives follow everything the CDC asks for, while Meri has been following Kody's extreme covid rules since March 2020. He has the gall to dismiss Paityn (Garrison's girlfriend) whom he's never met and who has followed covid guidelines, YET he has no problem with a nanny being around his family more than his kids. Edit: I would hope that if kody really wants for his family to stay as a functioning unit, all the adults and any immune compromised kids would get vaccinated in 2021. (does anyone know whether they did)?

I live 3000 miles from my brother and haven't seen him in 2 years, but when his kids were little he'd show them my photo so they'd recognize me at Christmas.

People figured out a thousand and one ways to stay connected during the early days of the pandemic. Starting in April of 2020 my mom and her sisters would meet up once a weekend to walk and talk the high school track in my aunt’s town. Then they would sit distanced outside in my aunt’s backyard and have a glass of wine. If it was cold they brought blankets, if it rained they held an umbrella. It was important to them to find time to be together. 
 

As the self proclaimed leader of the family, Kody should have come up with different ways to stay connected with his kids. The boys seem sporty - why not arrange a weekly or monthly hike? Or go hit some golf balls into that giant ditch at coyote pass? Instead he took the opportunity to check out from their lives completely, shrug and blame it on COVID. He is a terrible father.

So I guess Kody isn't even fulfilling his role as spiritual leader in his family. Isn't he supposed to like lead services or something? What a crock of BS.

That greeting upon Kody's return shows that the Sobyn/Kody marriage is the only marriage in that family. They are officially monogamists. 

LOL! At the hopeful look in Robyn's face when Janelle pondered aloud if she wanted to still be in a plural marriage.  Sobyn was probably thinking her plan was a few years ahead of schedule of ousting Janelle, only to be dashed. LOL!

I'd have been happier about Christine putting all Kody's funky shit in the garage if she hadn't sorted it all and labeled them. Too much time, kindness and consideration for my taste. That jackass deserved all his shit in the front yard on fire.

 

But standing ovation to Christine for saying she ain't staying with no intimacy. Finally, someone has raised their standards and realized they deserved more on this mortal coil.

Christine is the only one saying outright that there is obvious favoritism.

I really hope the internet is lighting Robyn and Kody's ass up and not just each and every Sunday, but each and every day.

Wow. Just...wow. To look at your son who is practically begging you to make time for him on a semi-regular basis w/ tears in his eyes and to have not an ounce of empathy or love or compassion but just be mad and defensive (and accusingly shriek about why he is getting emotional), so much so that not only would you not hug him (God forbid) but not even verbally assure him from your safe social distance that you love him and miss him and want to be a part of his life, regardless of who you think is at fault? Well, that is a cold, cold heart. 

When this family looks back some day about what caused their dissolution, I hope they realize it was not Covid-19, but Kody-00. (And no, not Robyn. Even if she is/was manipulative to the millionth power, it is still on Kody to actually give a shit about the kids he fathered and women he married before her.) 

And while I am glad for Janelle that he attended her mom's funeral, I can only imagine how Ysabel felt that he would be able to make an exception for that but not her surgery. His ironclad protocols sure seem flexible when he wants them to be. 

I haven't seen the promo, but I am so glad we get the satisfaction of seeing Christine put his shit in the garage and declare she is done. I honestly figured we would have to wait till next season and it all would have happened during the hiatus. Thank God ONE of the wives has a natural and logical response to him declaring their marriage is actually a friendship or acquaintanceship or whatever bullshit term he wants to use.

If I'm not mistaken, Meri is the biggest earner in the family.

Kody had a lot of nerves calling Janelle “The Teflon Queen”, when he goes above and beyond to make sure nothing sticks to Robyn. I guess he was still steaming after she told him to eff off.

According to Robyn, it was really hard for Ari to be without her Dad for ten days. In the meantime, Truely probably hadn’t seen him for several months. It made me sad to hear Christine say that her kids knew they weren’t his favorites.

Loved Gabriel reminding Kody that Christine was the one who raised them. Never one for giving her the slightest bit of credit, his father had to counter that things changed when they moved to Vegas.  I am glad Gabe set him straight. What a horrible man!

RIGHT?! I thought, with his head down and face hidden by his visor, he was at least retroactively, briefly, feeling like crap as realization hit him - like his too little, too late "probably should have gone for Ysabel's surgery" talking head. Then he tells the camera - like, way later in a talking head, not even in the heat of the moment - that he was PISSED?! You've had some time to mull over the interaction by then, maybe roll with the more generous interpretation of you felt horrible about realizing this failure of communication/parenting?

And yeah - I'd LIKE to think Kody went to her mother's funeral for Janelle (historically their relationship would certainly have him doing so, though at this point in time he's clearly pretty pissed so I could see him passing and blaming COVID), but her mom was also his mother's close friend and sister wife, so it also would have been grossly obviously not supporting his mother *or* his wife of 25-ish years. I mean, I agree with where he landed, this was more important and you just do the best you can (...the same was even more true with his teenage daughter's major surgery, but I digress), but then to *tell the cameras* his big concern is Robyn never forgiving him if he got COVID and delayed their children's Christmas? 🤦🏻‍♀️ It might make for raw tv, but your other kids can see this, so shhhh with the quiet parts you aren't supposed to admit out loud...

I admit that it would be to Robyn's credit to do this, and maybe that she married into a polygamous family changes what I'd normally think somewhat - she's supposed to consider herself a mom to all these other kids too - but in general, this is on Kody. He's their father and has been a father for decades, he shouldn't need reminded and pried into acting like a father and maintaining a relationship with his other children, *especially* the minor children. So yeah, I'd give Robyn credit for doing whatever she could here (but can see that impulse, if it ever existed, waning when those kids were calling to yell at her about the rules), but no matter what she does or doesn't do here, this is Kody's responsibility, not hers. (And I'm NOT giving her credit for maybe trying, to be clear - I suspect Ysabel being Christine's (and caretaking for her being a threat to her own children's time with Kody) and Gabe likely being one of the boys to call and yell at her quashed any impulse she might have had versus, say, Mariah, or Maddie the favorite daughter. But just that Kody's actions and lack thereof are primarily on him. She could and should do better and push for all the kids' best interests with their father, but it's first and foremost his responsibility and failing.)

I use to love this show when it first started. The family really warmed my heart. I thought Kody was actually quite nice and fairly good looking. Now all I see is an angry man with beady eyes spewing crap out if his mouth. I am so angry right now. It's time TLC cut Kody and Robyn. What they are doing is child abuse!  Its not fun watching how he treats his children or other wives for that matter and I hate thinking I am putting money in his pocket by watching him.  This might be my last season.

I don’t know. But the way the vaccine rolled out (by age & comorbidities) probably still made it hard. Ari & Sol were in the last group to be eligible (age 5 & up).  I would think Kody & Robyn were still very careful even if they were vaccinated but the kids weren’t.

Omigosh I didn't catch that but I did see a group of three tourists today who all had those coats. I believe they cost $1000.

I have a down coat also. It cost $99 and has held up really well for about 10 years. I take good care of it and only wear it on really cold days. But then again, I'm not a favorite plyg wife with a million-dollar (mortgaged-to-the-hilt) home.

If you are going to quarantine then fine, then set up an agreement with your kids that you will call or facetime with them several times per week so you can catch up with them, their lives, etc... he could take a minute out of his oh so busy day to shoot them a text and let them know you love them and miss seeing them!  What is preventing Kody from doing that? It sounds to me like he is not in touch with them much at all and there is no excuse for that what so ever! I think Gabe and Ysabel are hurting the most because they are teens and still in high school and they miss their dad. The other kids are either too young and the older are out of the house with their own lives to the point where they don't need Kody as much. I also blame Robyn for Kody's disconnect with his other kids because she could be reminding him to contact his kids more often. Just say "hey, have you called Gabe lately"? or why don't you give Ysabel a call, I bet she's missing you. Or is that not allowed in the polygamy lifestyle? To remind the king that he has other kids? 

 

I think he treats his kids badly if/when he is displeased with their moms.
