Making comments about race with no context whatsoever—just to put someone down for being white—I’m not sure I’m going to be able to overlook that.

Yeah, I don't understand what her beef with white men is.  I can understand her saying that she doesn't want to be at party with "old" men, but throw in the color of their skin and it makes  me wonder what she's referring to.  Leah, please explain yourself!

I think that Ramona was right about Leah when she said that she immediately cleaned the kitchen so as to take the focus off of the mess in the backyard.  They were lucky that the grass didn't catch on fire.  There is no excuse for that kind of behavior.

Oh Tinsley.  You were wasted from the get-go.  I wonder if she remembered anything of the night before.  She was really checked out.

It's very easily explained what Leah meant by that.

https://www.cnn.com/2017/08/12/us/white-nationalists-tiki-torch-march-trnd/index.html

I, personally, thought she was referring to her idea of the stereotype that lines their yard with tiki torches. I assumed she was referring to people who put on airs and flaunt a lifestyle that they'd like to have; like rubbing shoulders with people who own $39 million dollar vacation homes, hiring personal trainers, and caterers, and lining the pool deck area with tiki torches. Her comment about Tinsley getting "all socialite" with her, I thought reinforced that. I took it as more of a classist statement than racist. Tho, personally, I have never considered tiki torches pretentious. Maybe she just thinks they're ugly.

Is this how wanna-be socialites settle things in the Hamptons? Didn't Jill also challenge Ramona to a tennis-duel as well?

Hilarious episode. Leah is a surprisingly great addition to the show. It seems she and the Tins have good chemistry, and Leah doesnt strike me as at all mean or shady so I think Tins can actually breathe around her and trust her, unlike the dynamic with the bitchassed Carole or Beth. I think Leah is actually decent on the inside. I think I hope, etc etc.

Also! Totally Bethenny, Who? I don’t miss what she brought to the show at all.

Can’t stand her in her entirety, but I worry about Sonja’s liver. And I wish Dorinda would see a real therapist for extensive help to give herself peace and either end it with John or to grow in any way and accept him more wholly.

But at what point is it not just sad that they are trotting out women that at some point should have grown past this?? I know that’s asking a lot of a television show but come on it just becomes sad at a point

And it’s not just that Bravo hires the most shallow people they can find, but they exploit women with addictions and personality disorders, who break their good health habits for camera time and to fit in.

Then why did Leah say to Tinsley "Pay attention to the news"?

I don't think what you're saying would be in the news, but my item was.

I don't care at all about Ramona leaving her own house.  LOL.

I think what she meant was Ramona is beyond boy crazy and needs to know she is some lithe sex kitten, she needs that validation from men, constantly, to the point of obsession.

I think that comes from having been cheated on.  I'm sure her self-esteem took a hit when Mario hooked up with a younger woman.  From talking to women who have gone through this, many of them feel like it's all their fault and that they weren't good enough or pretty enough to keep their man.  Some of them had emotions all over the map, so I cut her a little slack if she's feeling that way.  She says she's okay, but I think down deep she's still really hurt by what he did and she needs the validation by other men.   Plus, she said she misses having a man by her side, and even though she might be going about dating the wrong way, I can understand why she needs the approval.   However, it was extremely rude to leave her houseguests by themselves.  Not cool Noodle!

Yeah, that's a weird thing to get worked up about, but then again, I've seen some pretty stupid protests in this country over the past few years and wonder why people don't have more important things to worry about, especially in this case, tiki torches.  Pick your battles, ladies!

I don't think I've ever seen Tinsley as wasted as she was last night.  That's disappointing to me.  I expected better from her.   Leah went off the rails too.  I expect it from Sonja, but jeez, all three of them were so embarrassing to watch.  That was truly cringeworthy.

It's also sad when there's not one HW in the bunch that can refrain from drinking around LuAnn.  They all beg her to come back to the house and hang out with them, then they all nod in agreement when she talks about how difficult it is for her not to drink, all the while guzzling whatever cocktail they have in their drunken little hands.  It's disappointing to watch them all get 'falling-down-drunk' with almost every episode.  It's really not amusing anymore, especially watching Sonja go to the bathroom.  Then she draped herself over Leah without ever washing her hands.  Yuk!!

I wouldn't leave houseguests to go to a party, even if they were really good friends (family is another story, LOL).  But, in this situation, where they were invited to go and decided they'd rather stay home and get drunk?  I won't fault Ramona.  And I'm no big fan of hers.

What did old man Morgan ever see in her?

Youth + inhibition + vagina.  Not necessarily in that order.  If her behavior at 35ish was as it is today, she would have likely personified the antithesis of his upbringing.  That may have been the biggest aphrodisiac.

Ramona was just being cheap in not hiring some staff for the weekend. I’m a nobody worker bee and when I have a party that I really know is going to be fun and I want to somewhat be a guest at, I hire a bartender and a clean up person to work the yard during the party. It’s $200 and best money spent. NB I don’t do this with small gatherings. But 30 plus people I do.

Don't tell my husband but what I would do for an old, rich dude, one foot on a banana peel, one foot in the grave, no living heirs...lol. Seriously, money can make life a bit easier and I am all for an easier way in life so if that is bad, oh well.  Not sure what is so bad about a old rich guy in Leah's world, why the hate?  She does not realize that some younger rich white guy that she may be interested in now will undoubtedly turn in to an old guy.

This was an epic episode for me. Love Leah! & Tinsley!

I'm going to try and just move on but I would've loved to see B in the pool as well. She didn't mind skinny dipping and she could be a hoot at times. I think that foursome would've been fun to watch.

12 hours ago, LibertarianSlut said:

What I object to is that she said, “I’m so happy...that there’s not going to be any weirdo white dudes showing up.”

I took it as she was hinting to the party the night before where the dudes were certainly weirdos. And mostly white from what I could see. Stiff, boring, entitled ppl as far as the eye could see. Imo of course.

I've given it a few episodes, but I may be over this franchise and I can't believe it. I'm still interested in Lu and Ramona, but that's pretty much it. I like sober Leah, but...well..I understand now why she stopped drinking. I found the whole thing sad. My friends and I definitely drunkenly raged in our 20s, but good grief. I spent most of the time half watching and doing something else on my laptop.

I swear, I had a nightmare last nite that Luanne came and lured my husband to go with her to the casino.  She blatently took him away from me.  He returned quite soon back to me.  Then I jumped up in my bed heart pounding.  True story, lol.  She’s quite the sex fiend.  Guess I won’t be seeing her in the cabaret, hahaha.

Yes.  You can tell the difference by the reaction from the man (or men) in question.  Does he look uncomfortable?  Are his eyes roaming desperately looking for a buddy to come over and rescue him?  While you're flirting, is he eyeing the beautiful 30-year-old blonde at the bar? Does he say "hmm... I'm sorry. What did you just say?"  when you're trying to talk to him?  Are you laughing too loud when he makes a bad joke? Then my friend, you need to realize, HE'S JUST NOT THAT INTO YOU!!!!!

From other comments above:  the 95-year-old flirting is cute and funny.

The 60-year-old with young guys from the Air Force Base ... probably has had more than one STD.  You know he's laughing about her back with his buddies.

That was quite the episode!

This is probably just me but I was very concerned about drunk people diving into the swimming pool.  I'm glad it wasn't a bad accident.

I'm on the side of those who think it was rude for Ramona to leave her house guests; I also don't think it was their job to clean up the kitchen but the outdoor destruction was unacceptable.  Now, a champagne bottle in the pool and picking up tiki torches isn't so bad but if glass had gotten in the pool, I think that would be a different story.

As someone upthread said, a sober Dorinda?!?

Edited by albarino
ETA, I have some cycling girlfriends in their early 70s. Two of them are widows. I once asked one of them if she were dating. Her response was that at her age, men were either looking for a nurse or a purse. Beware Ramona!

Drunk Leah is a mess. But really entertaining. I loved her tying to get Sonja to stop it with the JPMorgan bs.

Ramona would leave her house to go to another party.

The shot of Tinsley sleeping with a bowl of pasta next to her was the best part.

Honestly, I only half paid attention to this episode, but when they first showed little Tinsley shoving pasta into her mouth, I was dying and then the final scene of her passed out next to the bowl of spaghetti was amazing.

And Ramona needs to stay away from the jeggings.   Her old lady ass is not made for tight pants.  They really show her age. Same for Dorinda and Sonya.  Only Luanne can pull it off.

Nothing wrong with trying to find someone to share your life with.   It's not like Ramona is looking for a sugar daddy or to be trophy wife.  She is self-made.  She doesn't have to work.  Her daughter is grown.  She has her 50 girlfriends, etc.

Yet she is such a snob that she won’t look past any man that isn’t rich and powerful.   If she doesn’t chance her attitude, and she won’t, she will be alone for the rest of her life.

The way she was flirting with that rich guy with the big house was embarrassing for her.  She has zero chance with guys like that.  They are as superficial as she is.

When you live in NYC it’s jolting to go into a party and see only old white people.  Outside of the upper east side, you can’t go anywhere and find a room with only white people.  It looks off somehow.

I had second-hand embarrassment for all of them.  A poster said ^upthread, that these weren't friends, they're co-workers, and that's correct.  Can you imagine behaving like this with people you work with?

I realize that this footage is edited, and likely edited to show the worst of the worst, but I can't imagine consuming the quanitity of alcohol required to become this out of control at my age, and I'm basically the same age as many of these women.

I hope this isn't representative of the rest of the season.

I believe Ramona, and we haven't been subjected to large doses of him in a while. Because when we are we see him groping other women and having drugged up fights with Dorinda. He's sleezy and I believe he brings her down.

Yeah, John might not be the worst guy this show or franchise has had, but I wouldn't call him a catch either.

What probably bothers me more than the anti-white statements is Bravo’s selective outrage, especially given what happened on Dallas, so I’m going to call it out every time I hear it on Bravo.  The network is inconsistent about who gets roasted, and I’m tired of it.

White on Hispanic comments is not the same as White on White commenting...

Agree! And she has chased a lot of it since the divorce...good grief. A new "date" every night. And these old men that she fawns over make me depressed. She is trying to compete with younger single women and it doesn't look pretty. Unfortunately for her, time is not on her side and all these "dates" aren't going anywhere except one night stands. That whole Hamptons scene with the parties and fake friends looks boring as hell.

Whatever it is called, it is liking or not liking a person based on the color of their skin and that's incredibly fucked up.

She is virtue signaling, and it's gross.

I think Dorinda "settled" when it comes to John. He's the antithesis of Richard. Richard was educated, important, had a career that took them all over the world and introduced her to important world movers and shakers. John is a dry cleaner...not physically attractive and intellectually not her equal. He's a date...that's all. She doesn't want to live with him and likes him as date night thing...no strings attached. I guess it works for her...she has her own apartment and country home that she can escape to and when she wants his company she calls him and gets whatever it is she needs from him...I don't want to imagine anymore.

YES! To everything you said! I too worry about Sonja's excessive drinking. Women at this age have a higher rate of illness and morbidity from binge drinking or excessive drinking. And she has been drunk in every episode so far...sloppy drunk no less. She needs to see a good physician, not a cosmetic surgeon, and get a comprehensive physical and blood work. I can't even imagine how embarrassed her daughter must be of her mother's behavior.

Joke's on them if older guy is the owner of that business.  He just might be richer than many of those women.  For sure, he has more money than Sonja even if he does not own the business.  The rich pay a lot for home dog grooming.

Bravo enables this stuff by stocking up hotel rooms and houses with inordinate amounts of top shelf liquor and encouraging raucous sorority house antics and bickering. It's all good stuff to beef up ratings I guess.

My son who is 33, is here with us during the quarantine and working from our house, came downstairs for a nighttime snack and watched about ten minutes of this episode where LuAnn was hitting on the dog groomer and then the tennis coach and he said, "These women are pathetic"...then he said, "is this the Hamptons?" He works in NYC and is familiar with the social scene in the Hamptons and all the middle age and older women that hit on guys his age out there...he just shook his head and laughed at Ramona and Sonja.

Ok. I’ve watched the show and read all of your comments. Here’s my question. Leah cleaned the kitchen, as evidenced by the dishwasher being open and full. What did she do with the vibrator that was in the chicken? Did she put it in the dishwasher a la Sonja, return it to its owner, or perhaps thrown it out in the garbage? If I was Ramona I would make sure to use the extra hot antibacterial cycle and maybe run it twice.

Sorry if someone already commented but was the “dog groomer” really washing the dog with dish soap? Maybe someone should tell the “professional” “ dog groomer” that they actually make soap for dogs that doesn’t irritate their skin.

And I second everyone who has said there is a difference between being open to love or dating, and desperate fawning over any man that doesn’t have a comb over. Desperation is not a good look at any age.

First off, thanks for the four pages of entertainment as I finish my “work week”!  And the education on what the hell those tiki torches ever did to offend anyone!!

i forget just how “uppity” these girls are.  “your *woman* said that the silverware is rolled in the napkin.”  Um, if I were outside helping someone set a table, my blue-collar raised face would have said “hi, how are you?  My name’s Teapot!  What’s yours?”

i was annoyed when Jeff showed up. Like why is there a guy here on our girls night? Reminds me of when Alex brought Simon....remember, RAMONA????

When Leah was cradling Sonja on the toilet...and Sonja has (used?) TP in her hand....and hugs Leah...and there is no washing of hands unless that’s too boring to show on TV (timely, though, no?)

I was dead sober last night and it was after midnight and I was dying of laughter.

i wish someone had the wherewithal to quarantine a bunch of HWs when this shit all started.  I would’ve paid for the “big brother live feed”.   Who can we talk to in case this (god forbid) ever happens again?
