Episode Discussion II: The TFGH

Today's Notes:

NEKKID CHASE.  BLQ had my reaction. tehehhe. Chase gets his towel (booo) and goes just use your phone. BLQ goes her phone is in her purse outside. they tease each other but then quickly it goes to the heart of the matter, she says this is giving everyone an excuse to treat her like crap. Chase says he recognizes the sacrifices that BLQ is doing and thinks she's brave. He sees her. They share a look

Finn runs through the halls and catches Elizabeth. He says it's time to stop dancing around this now. Liz says it means something but it's complicated. Liz says maybe she should be casually dating but Finn isn't a casual dating person. Finn goes yah we can take it slow clearly. they have to think about the kids. they both say its too soon. Finn asks for forgiveness. Liz says but she wants to be ready

Alexis is still whinging about getting out early. Whatever. 

Portia runs into Stella. She was deep in thought. they are chattering. Portia goes you know about Hatman. they talk. i was bored i wasn't paying attention. Stella called Hatman.

Curtis, TJ and Hatman are at the gym. Curtis is not happy. Hatman says no drama, I'll go. TJ goes I invited him. Curtis goes I asked you to leave the family alone. TJ goes I invited him. Hatman goes I only want to make up for lost time. Curtis goes. it's lost you can't clearly. so dish the beans about where you were. Hatman is dancing around the subject again. Why did you ever come then? TJ got mad and punches the bag (without a glove. so you know being a doctor that was the dumb thing to do). Curtis says just let me see what his situation is. TJ goes what if you find crap out. Then Curtis goes I'll make sure he doesn't hurt my family again.

Olivia comes into work. Carly is all we can go visit Sasha. Olivia is all Nina's trial is coming i bet you can't wait for her to burn. (SHUT UP). Carly goes she dreams about pummeling Nina every night. Olivia goes dreams do come true. Both smug smile. Carly goes. I am trying to honour Sonny's wishes. Olivia goes this is not you. that's Sonny. Sonny can go to mass and does what he does. (Say it you hypocrite. Say MURDERS PEOPLE). Carly is saying she's practicing bottling her feelings. Olivia is like whatever. but you could crack. Carly is like "well you know as as Nina gets justice and stays away from my family"shut up. 

Nina and Sonny meet up. Whatever. Gladys comes and hugs Sonny and then snaps at Nina why is she there she's not entitled to anything. Sonny is like she's here for Sasha let's not start. (yah sonny because god forbid you tell people it's not all Nina's fault). 

Sasha and Brando are getting ready to go the NICU. Sasha goes i can not say goodbye to our son not now not ever. Sasha is saying as long as he's breathing, the baby is alive. Brando is like but is he though? Sasha is like maybe it's different for you because you have family, Liam is my only flash and blood. Brando tries to talk sense to Sasha and she has no time for it and walks off.  Brando sees Gladys and he cries he doesn't know what to do. Gladys says you are hurting too and Sasha shouldn't attack you. Brando is like she wasn't. Gladys says Dr. Flemming says if they are keeping Liam on a vent, they need to move to a better facility and sasha needs to be on this and walks off. Brando starts going after her but Nina stops him and goes we can talk and take a minute, this is how gladys copes. Brando goes wait. maybe Sasha is right because Nina was in long term care and she is fine. (yes but you know. Nina wasn't brain dead). Nina says the same thing

Sasha is crying to Liam that he knows her and she knows him and they can do this together. Sonny comes in and goes do you want company. and Sasha goes only if you aren't going to tell me i'm going to be selfish for not letting my baby die. Sonny goes i would never do that.  Sasha goes i hope he knows i'm here. Sonny goes, love is powerful. Sonny then makes it about him and Mike. and i'm tuning out. Sasha is saying it's not fair that she can't have a miracle. everyone else got one. Sonny says  when deciding about what to do with Mike, Sonny said was keeping him alive the best thing for Mike or to prolong his (Sonny's) pain. Gladys comes and tells Sasha Flemming is looking for him. Gladys then tells Sonny he made the right decision about Mike.

honestly - and maybe i am a heartless shrew because i hate sonny but comparing this situation (an elderly man who wanted to let go and Sonny couldn't do it to Sasha being devastated because her baby is basically dead and she has to come to grips with that is not the same thing at all, and i wish instead of people being all "awww Sonny of course it's like you and mike. someone would have said stop making it about you."

I have to comment on Brooklyn being in the steam room and not even removing her blazer!  And she was complaining she was hot.  I mean it’s obviously fine if Amanda Setton wants to be covered up but she could have removed the blazer??  I think she’s worn sleeveless things before (very rarely) so it wouldn’t be a first.

I guess Sasha knows that she's on a soap opera and that her Corinthos baby is owed a miracle.

I understand Sasha being unable to let go, especially since Liam is the only relative she has, but everyone else should know the difference between brain dead, coma, and dementia.

BL in a damn blazer in the sauna, really? I don't get the point of having scenes stuck in a sauna if it wasn't for sexy times. They could have had that conversation anywhere. If it's the actress' preference to remain so covered up, I wish they wouldn't write her in scenes like this. If it's the show, then it's insulting, and pretty much means that a Chase/BL romance is getting nothing fun. 

 

Those Carly/Olivia scenes were so pointless and I wished that they would pick a lane with Carly. Is she in love with Jason or Sonny? They want to play both sides with this constant grief but still having her jealous over Sonny/Nina. Also, for a character who has been the undisputed lead of GH for the year, she seems pretty aimless without Jason. I don't buy her being BFFs with Olivia all of a sudden when they were just casual work colleagues before. It's like they finally realized that Carly hates women so they did a swift 180. 

 

Not sure where they are going with Alexis/Harmony. The dialogue and her POV was good. I agree with Alexis that becoming friends with a newly reformed Harmony would not be a good idea because of Kristina but their scenes today pretty much spelled out that they will get close. I'm just not sure why. Alexis has more friends on canvas than the most, not to mention adult family members, who would gladly be there for her. I think that friendship would better serve Harmony who doesn't really have anyone else other than her daughter but not sure why that would be worth alienating Kristina.

Instead of inserting the Carson into everything, I wish they would connect Anna with this story since she too lost a newborn, Leora (I know some hated the name, but I liked it). Of course, TPTB would get it into their heads to resurrect the baby a la DOOL's Bo & Billie. It would probably be Esme.

that actually would have been great but i don't think Anna has never mentioned Leora on the show at all.

i will say - well while I'll never be in a steam room. I've been in heavy clothing in places where it has been boiling hot. I think they just wanted a bit of a pranky light hearted thing (and hey nekkid chase i'm not complaining). it's sort of like Esme's shoes. I don't really notice it and it doesn't bother me - BLQ being BBQ'd in a steam room because she refuses to take off her blazer doesn't bug me because honestly- if Amanda wanted to take it off she would have but it didn't bother her and it didn't really take me out of the scene. I'm honestly not sure how it is insulting. 

(and to be fair - I don't really want a CLQ relationship i want them to be the snarky bffs this show needs imo and they had a real moment that she needed to have).

You forgot the part where Olivia, who spent weeks denying that Leo might be on the spectrum and fully believing in her entitlement by marriage,  was irritated because the specialist couldn't see her son as soon as she wanted.

I just feel like the Liam storyline is dragging on. I get that they are trying to play the beats of it and Sonny sharing scenes with Sacha makes me worried that they might actually go there at some point, because Sonny will be on the hunt for someone younger eventually.

I thought that the comparison with Liam and Mike was very clunky. Mike was old and lived a whole life. Liam never had a chance and as a parent, Sasha would probably be thinking about all the things he'll never get to do, and how she has to make that decision to take her child off life support. Sonny didn't have to remove his father from life support as far as I remember. He told him that he could go.

I will echo the whole blazer situation with BL. I'm not sure why they dress her like that or if it's the actress's choice because she feels more comfortable that way. But a sauna with all those layers is unrealistic. I was glad to see that her curls weren't holding, though. That said, it's beginning to look a lot like romance. It's time Chase moved on from Willow for good and never share another woman with Michael. 

Why is Olivia trying to whip Carly into a frenzy over Nina? Shut up, Liv. Don't you have pasta to cook or something?

I didn't care about most of the episode today. I thought there was too much going on. I was interested in Alexis/Harmony and Chase/BL, but it doesn't feel like we've got all that much screentime with either.

I feel like it had to be a deliberate choice by the writers to do the sauna scene that way, with BL in the blazer.  Like someone wanted to send the audience a message that they know how absurd it all is, they're in on it.  At the very least I don't think that it's incidental.

This is an unkind thought, but... what if Carly flipped out seeing Nina and Sonny talking and actually pummeled Nina, instead of just thinking about it? The police get called, Carly gets arrested and finds out what it is like to be charged by an actual crime. 

Downside is that Nina has to take some hits, but if it teaches Carly (and Michael) a lesson about how to be a mature person and what a real crime looks like, it might be worth it.

So Carly loves Jason again. Uh huh. I hope they estrange Sonny/Carly and have Carly/Brit become friends before bringing Jason back. Then Jason chooses Brit. : D

Right now, my dream storylines, or at least, how to fix some crappy storylines:

In Nina's trial, the judge says, "What is this crap? No crime was committed. Why is everyone wasting my time? Defendant, you should sue for them wasting your time, too." And then she does. She sues Michael. She sues Carly. She sues the Pennsylvania guy who took money to arrest her. She sues the Pennsylvania police department that did the arresting. She sues everyone. And wins. And donates the money to GH and is the new highest money donor and everyone remembers they hate Sonny and company.

Willow realizes she never loved Michael and that she just never processed the loss of her son and transferred all of her emotions to Michael and Wiley. She leaves Michael. She stops being obnoxious. She begs Chase for forgiveness. He can forgive her or not. I don't really care. Michael dies.

Carly commits suicide when she learns Michael died.

Sonny is tried and convicted of killing Carly and Michael even though that is the one crime he didn't commit. They bring back public hangings. Monica gets to do the honors.

So Days is doing a Christmas Movie/Special with all their characters and what does GH trout out: 

- Give Brand new Mother in Sofia a storyline about her brand new baby most likely being brain dead.

- 5 days a week of Snarly yelling and just being Snarly.

- Hypocritical Weeping Willow and Meltonin Michael.

Happy Holidays GH fans....at least give me more Cassadine family adventures.

Why is everyone kowtowing to Willow as if she's Carly? Yesterday it was Olivia propping Willow dissing Brook Lynn when he should have been supporting her stepdaughter, not the person who slept and stole her way into the family.  Then Harmony was begging for Wllow's affection.

Why isn't Alexis a prisoner advocate? It seems an obvious route.

They really don't know what to do with Kristina but as long as they pull her out to truthtell, last year about Sam and Jason not being perfect lovers, this year telling Sam and Alexis that their working together is a disaster, I'm good with it.

Bonus points if Chase and BL are a solid couple by the end of the Bailey story arc. I would have rather kept them as friends, but bring on the couple.

Poor Brooklyn, her family isn't appreciating her faking a child's paternity and having Valentine's daughter be collateral damage all for stock.  Charlotte I hope goes all Cassadine on BL, they should write her like they did Spencer as a child.

Can someone just ask Marshall to tell the truth or go away?

In my opinion, wanting to have her cake and eat it too has pretty much been the essence of Carly ever since she hit Port Charles, especially when it comes to men. So at least that's consistent.

"All in good time" is getting so friggin' tired.  And, not for nothing and maybe it's because of the awful writing, but I don't like the actor, either.  He's totally annoying me every time he's on camera.

So Olivia basically wants Carly to beat up Nina.  Lovely.  And LOL that she, too, thinks somehow Nina's getting a life sentence for a made-up crime.

no i mean I don't think the show has really touched on her AMC side at all. like i can't remember if she's ever mentioned David either to Finn. So yeah it would have been nice but i don't know if they acknowledge her AMC side at all. (maybe they can't).

Also, while I prefer Sonny/Nina to Sonny/Carly, the fact that the show is using this baby’s death to further this love triangle that has nothing to do with Brando/Sasha is kind of disrespectful.

I am resigned to the fact that Carson will be in EVERY story line, no matter the random or no connection.  It's obscene.  I keep thinking of how Michelle Stafford would have played Nina in Nixon Falls. And I smile.

I was sort of okay with Sonny being there to comfort Sasha so she wasn’t alone. UNTIL.,.he suddenly and inexplicably tried to compare Mike’s passing to that of a newborn baby who never had a chance. Mike lived a long life. He got sick and died, Liam will never get to grow up, have kids, screw up, be forgiven etc. but instead of looking at Sonny like he’s out of his fucking mind, Sasha just  smiles meekly and what, Thanks him for his support? And then Gladys pats him on the back and says ‘you did right by Mike.’ 🙄🙄🙄🙄

My personal conclusion on this is that the writers haven't settled on what the sirkit is.

Their storyboard only says, man in hat arrives in PC. He is Curtis's father and has a big secret to be decided at a later date!!!!!!!!!

I thought the Sasha/Sonny scenes were pretty good, though I agree with everyone who says there is no comparing the death of an elderly man who lived a full life and a newborn infant who will never get that chance.  I wonder what will happen with Sasha and Brando.  I mean they liked each other well enough, but they got together because of the baby.  Now there is no baby, so will they stay together?

I really admire people who can just accept others, no questions asked, as TJ has done with Hat.  I know it’s naive, but it’s also kind of brave.  I’m much more on Curtis’ side.  Like, this dude has has been gone for decades and now everyone is just supposed to welcome him with open arms.  I would need some heavy duty explaining before that could happen, if ever.

Yes Nina, you serve that truth to Olivia!!  Now she just needs to act that way with everyone else who thinks they’re so high and mighty.

And I have to say those scenes with Sasha and Brando holding their little baby for the first/last time….I cried like a baby.  I’m still kinda sniffling.  Really, really touching and sad.

Obligatory Mike cameo to usher someone to Heaven or whatever. Show, you could at least have given him a real baby to hold rather than a doll burritoed to death in those blankets.

The Sasha/Brando scenes were pretty sad. But then they played the Heritage Minute ad about the residential schools and that ad always tears my heart in half and makes me incredibly emotional, so Sasha sobbing at the end and happening right on the heels of that ad had me reaching for the tissues. Of course the box was empty.

Sonny whipping out the rosary had me almost howling with laughter. I was expecting lightning to strike him down or something, but it didn't. 

I'm sure posters will disagree with me because of how much Sam and Kelly are hated in general, but I thought her scenes with CM were the most chemistry Kelly has had with a male co-star in a really long time. I think the pairing will happen again. 

I don't care about hat man and he made it sound like he came back because Curtis now has a club and he'd like to play there, or something? This is how it came across to me. But aunt Stella has officially been dragged into this mess which sucks.

Nina telling Olivia to take care of her marriage was priceless. Leo touching all the cookies, not so much. I get why they had him doing that, but it's not very sanitary in the best of times. 

And I just don't like the Olivia/Ned pairing. I'm still not over her living at the Q mansion the whole time she and Ned were separated.

She is, and l like her more and more each day.  But would Amanda really have any say in what she wears?  Because if so, can someone please explain Maxie's wardrobe?  especially last week's orange sweatshirt.  I can't believe KS would be okay with that.

I get why they had Sasha and Brando come into the nurses area, but sheesh. Go to your room and have some privacy from those emotional vultures.

lets see.... if Mike and Gladys were first cousins, that makes Sonny and Brando second cousins, and Liam and Sonny second cousins once removed.  Barely a Corinthos baby, I guess.
