The National Museum of Alamainia's security isn't very good.

My first thought when I saw the peacock was the Infinity gauntlet from the Marvel MCU.

No, the ancient Greeks believed that amethysts prevented you from getting drunk.  That's literally what the word means. a-not, methys -drunk.

Does Show not know that we are currently in Daylight Saving time?  It's EDT, not EST. Also, are people really running around the streets of the world without masks?

The painting in Paulina's house looked just like Lani's dress.  The mirror bugged me because it kept looking like the picture was askew.

John and Marlena didn't know why they were going to Switzerland till after they got there?

Where is ben getting his money?

Austin was coming on to Abigail not two years ago, he can shut it.

I was wondering why Ben had Ciara's phone, and then I realized that she wasn't carrying a purse.

Chad is such a better person when he's with Sonny and Will than when he's in Salem.

Why didn't Shane do the bidding?

Charles is on GH right now, though I don't know for how long.

Did he? It seemed he talked about his marital problems with Carrie to Abby(although I don't know why but I digress) yet there seemed to be nothing romantic between them. Unless I missed something. This was around the time Rafe/Carrie had their pointless ONS.

Ciara looked absolutely ridiculous. Just horrible and trashy, which I don't think they're going for so it's just really bad.

Why are VP and CC not listed in the opening credits?

If this were Miami, I could buy that it's a beach coverup.  But while I'm sure there are beaches near NOLA, it's not really known as a beach town.

I also noticed CC and AP weren't mentioned.

I don't get this streaming show. Will events on Beyond Salem and DOOL happen with references to what happens on the other show?  If not, then what's the point of having both shows airing concurrently. OTOH, if events from BS are indeed mentioned in DOOL, what if DOOL viewers don't have access to Peacock and don't want to get access? Won't they be confused?

I doubt we'll get major references to the main show on this or to this adventure on the main show.  But we did get references on the main show to the digital series when they decided to bring on Jan, Shawn and Belle.

So I expect that's will happen with this.  It'll be referenced and recapped with exposition.

This was certainly easier on the eyes than the network show.  Everything was brighter and not so dingy.  Don't look too close, though, the sets are still cheap as hell.  Funny how the hallway in Carrie's apartment building in Zurich looks exactly like the one outside Nicole's place in Salem.

Nu Sonny is starting out as badly as I remember him on Y&R, all sulky and mopey.  CM looked good.

Exactly. Also, neither amethysts nor citrines (even that size) are precious gems. They're both varieties of quartz (their color comes from iron and different levels of heat) and are considered semi-precious. I have large examples of each, easily affordable. Not impressed!

This. Just awful. I thought she was wearing some 2nd hand thrift shop, not washed yet lingerie’, and forgot to put some clothes on.

She seriously looked like a lady that would be swaggering up and down a street, stopping people asking them if they want a “date”.

I’d have to shield my child’s eyes from the daytime hooker walking the streets😳

So I watched the first two episodes.

1. I'm so happy to see Carrie Brady back on my screen. It's funny because I've convinced myself that Carrie no longer has a place on current Days, but Christie Clark is such a natural soap heroine, and they haven't even given her anything of substance to do yet. I really like her scenes with Anna, and she does small things to convey her uncertain relationship with her biological mother. She always seems so frightened that Anna is going to leave without a goodbye, and she looked absolutely devastated in yesterday's episode when Anna left. I would love if we could get a mini storyline on the main show that centered Carrie - that in no way mentioned Rafe or Sami. I just want to see Carrie stand on her own as a character the way she is doing here.

2. I've always hated CM's Will, and that's not changed here. While I can get a chuckle from Leo every now and then, I still think it's hilarious that the show wants us to believe he's around Will and Sonny's age. Chad is more tolerable here than on the show.

3. All and all, I'm liking this spinoff series. I like that all the characters actually feel connected, that there is a clear purpose, an umbrella storyline, and that there are mentions of Days history - even if it often feels awkward. I wouldn't mind if this continued in the future.

That is what we Carrie fans have always wanted for her, her own stories independent of Sami.  Carrie should have been the lead heroine but the show stopped caring about writing for heroines and Carrie stopped being a character in her own right once the show decided to make Sami the center of the universe..

Plus, Christy is such a natural actress and even as kid she blew me away. Deidre even said that as a kid the writers always gave her hard scenes but she was just excellent and just inspired the writers to write for her..

That's Diedre Hall doing the "sands through the hourglass" intro.

Switzerland has four languages.

Will's shirt is ugly.

That agent Kyle used to be on Y&R.

Well, gee, Anna, John tried to tell you something about the necklace, so why are you surprised he's bidding on it?

I hope Will hasn't been billing his newspaper for all of Leo's charges.

I was hoping that Julianne Morris would be showing up, but it doesn't look like it.

I don't know about other people, but if I were at a bar and two guys showed up with guns and stole from one of the customers, I wouldn't stick around ordering drinks.

A glitch in the Matrix.  Kyle threw his jacket over the phone and I was thinking that the music should have been muffled, but when they did a wide shot, his jacket wasn't on the phone again.

Paulina has been away from her house for months.  Why couldn't the thugs have broken into her house and taken the ring out of the safe all that time?

John just lets Anna walk out with the necklace, even though Shane gave him a gun because bad people wanted the necklace?

Not feeling the new Sonny.
Will has been hanging around Leo to much.  His fashion sense is way off.  Maybe he could not find any short sleeve flannel.
kyle the agent was very handsome.
Why would Pauline automatically think those guys wanted the ring?  That scene was off.  Everyone just standing around looking at the guys with guns.  Most people would get out of there or at least call for help.

He said that he was paying for it which I took to me that really Sonny was paying for it, in which case I see why Sonny is doubly mad at Will for keeping quiet about Leo. No way would a real media corporation give their writers that much leeway or budget to waste weeks on with no real story coming out of it.

I don’t know the actor’s name but he’s in Hallmark movies and I have always liked him.

Looked him up… Peter Porte. He was also in Paramount’s Christmas movie this past year featuring a gay couple (he’s gay in real life.) My favorite movie of his is A Cinderella Christmas. I don’t think that one was Hallmark, though.

Yeah, I’m just not feeling the Will/ Sonny thing with this. Hopefully it’ll get better.

Kyle the agent is very handsome and classy..so far lol.

And that whole scene with the “robbery “ was very off. on every level.

(maybe Paulina’s ring is one of the “missing” jewels 🤷‍♀️)

Oh, Lani and Eli.. excuse me,  Mr and Mrs SPD cops. You’re not in Salem, so yep, you call the Miami PD. It was all very irritating.

I've only watched the first episode so far but the whole Carrie/Austin marriage difficulties setting up Anna and Tony going to the auction is beyond stupid.  Seriously, someone has a tiff with their spouse and decides to spend several hundred thousand dollars to "let them know they're appreciated?"   In what world could Austin afford that necklace?  What happened to flowers or a nice dinner?  And apparently Anna packs sequined evening clothes to visit her daughter.

Were we supposed to find Paulina's incessant name dropping charming?  Big miss for me.

Peter Porte.  And he was fabulous.  He played a total psychotic but damn he was good.

Tinker is just as awful as NuSonny as he was as Fenn on Y&R.  The guy can't seem to deliver a line without sounding like a whiny little brat.  He's Grant Tinker's (NBC exec and ex-husband of Mary Tyler Moore) grandson which explains a lot IMO).  Freddie Smith wasn't so great by the end of his run but he was terrific when he first showed up and for a long time after.

CM might want to either take a few acting lessons or invest in a different career path.

But then again, he's certainly no worse than Lisa Rinna or Robert Scott whatshisname or Victoria Konefal or...... fill in the blank.

Well, I could watch Peter Porte all day, everyday..hoping he f’s over Rinna. She’s just awful..stick with the HWBH please. And whatever else she hustles.

nu-Sonny is depressing me. I know nothing of him except what I’ve heard here and agree..very mediocre acting and possibly his real life “entitlement” thing going on.

Yet, he doesn’t make me want to make me slam my head against a brick wall like..

Robert Scott whatshisname or Victoria Konefal or...... fill in the blank.

Guess it’s all about who ya know and who loves ya.. to get the parts and stay on show

Eileen Davidson! Yay!!  I was going to say that this is getting just too pathetic to stick around for and Sr Mary Moira shows up. Well, sorta.

Hmm, Lisa Rinna is just a few slices away from Cat Lady Jocelyn Wildenstein status. I'm pretty sure they're making fun of her and she hasn't caught on yet.

Which is fitting because Austin Peck’s finest daytime role will always be Rick the porn producer on OLTL.

While he was fun in that role I also liked him as Brad Snyder on ATWT(although they de-aged the character quite a bit to make it work but I digress). That being said despite this stupid plot I do like seeing Caustin with their relatives and has been my fave part of this series.

The Shane/Abe reunion is the second fave part.

Seeing the underlying tension between Anna and Marlena over Carrie.  Seeing Carrie actually with Anna, and seeing nice moments between John/Marlena are wonderful.  More of this and less camp please.

Also, I like Paulina..and Jackee is playing her slightly different than she played Sandra Clark and Lisa.  She is a bright spot on Days

The Marlena/Carrie/Anna dynamic has always been fascinating and it continues to be all these years later..

Not going to lie, I am loving this series. Leo continues to crack me up. I did get a little bit confused watching the regular episode, because I thought the storylines were concurrent but I guess we are in two different universes.

Did Jackee ever work with Charles Shaughnessy? The you look familiar line makes me think they did but I have no idea.

  • Love 6

I liked this third episode. I thought it was the best of the series so far. Everyone seems a bit more...'settled' in their roles, the pacing was better, and I'm glad to see all the storylines actually weaving together. Also, no Cin today was a big plus.

John could be a little less angry-growly. His perpetual snarl is cringe-worthy, lol. I wonder why the ISA couldn't have just confiscated the necklace from the auction house if they had no license to sell it off in the first place.

I don't know why we had to spend the first five minutes of today's show watching Lani and Eli make love, but the Miami storyline for me is the weak link, though it was fun to see Shane and Abe reunite. Also, those two jewel thief goons cannot act their way out of a wet paper sack.

I'm not really liking nu-Sonny, either. I just don't think the actor is that great. I do like Peter Porte as Billie's partner. And I still enjoy Leo. He makes me laugh, and Greg Rikaart is obviously having fun portraying him. He knows how to sell the character. Wouldn't mind at all if he came back to the main show in some capacity.

Will and Sonny's apartment is Charlie Dale's old apartment, isn't it? That strange door to nowhere next to the front door tipped me off. Also, Paulina's living room looks suspiciously like the new Dimera living room with a few art deco pops, lol.

I think it's equally likely that they're making fun of her and she's fine with it. This is a woman who spoke publicly about her awful plastic surgery at a time when most actresses pretended they'd never been anywhere near a plastic surgeon despite all evidence to the contrary. This is a woman who will endorse anything, including Depends, if there's money involved. She may feel that people can make fun of her and she'll enjoy her life in front of the camera while laughing all the way to the bank.

But personally I wish that for Beyond Salem she would have been a little more Billie Reed and a little less Lisa Rinna. Billie was a character I enjoyed and Lisa was a good actress at one time, though whether she still has real acting chops I don't know.

He's grown as an actor but tbh I don't know how much any actor could've done with Austin I mean he wasn't given much material wise when AP took over the role. He was dumbed down to fall for Sami's schemes and an object of her obsession with no real POV of his own.

Brad and Rick were far smarter characters in comparison. I think Chad works best in the digital series than the regular show as he was easier to take in Chabby in Paris as well.

Billie Reed is doing a lot of flying from New Orleans to Phoenix and back, and then on to Amsterdam.

Is Agent Graham really getting dressed without drying off first?

Billie didn't bother to tell Graham that Kristen is Chad's sister.

.Chad's shoes are ugly.

That's Adrienne Frantz as Sophie, and her real life husband, Scott Bailey, as Miles.

Was tipping the table a Real Housewives reference?

Someone needs to tell John that's not how you use a loupe! "Yes, I can see they're flawless." That's funny, he can't see a damn thing using it that way, especially in a baggie. 🙄

This is soooo bad, I'm glad tomorrow is the last day. I thought seeing the old timers would be a blast, but I don't think they've been working on their craft much over the years. Bad writing, bad acting. Except for Eileen Davidson, of course.

Yes, I believe it was their homage to Teresa Guidice (RH of NJ), who is famous for flipping a table after an argument with Danielle Staub.

Yeah, but I wouldn't put any effort into the constant campy schlock that Ron Carlivati loves so damned much, either. Maybe if the actors had writing worth actually taking things seriously, they would.

Drake Hogestyn has never been and will never be a master thespian, but he could always bring it with family/emotional material (losing Isabella as one example). Remember when soaps were about love and family? I wish the writers did.
