Joshley is the Golden Child. He will be involved as a groomsman for the other brothers too. I'm surprised Jana was the only Duggar daughter or daughter-in-law that was a part of the bridal party. I would have guessed that Josie would have been front and centre doing flower girl duties.

I'm glad they included Izzy as a ring bearer though. Poor kiddo needs that positive attention.

I'm going to sound like a complete dimwit but when you guys said JD was running for constable I didn't realise that he was actually in an election to win the job. Because in the US you apparently vote your coppers in, wut?

No. "Constable" in Arkansas isn't the same as a Constable in the UK. It's a basically unpaid or very low paid position, rendering certain services, I don't remember the details right now. Not a county's main law enforcement officer. That's the sheriff, who has a staff of deputies.

Nope, not a dimwit at all..... No actual U.S. police rank is called "constable." That name only applies to this separate office. That's why it's confusing to people outside the U.S. but not to Amurcans. .... '

And they're not necessarily elected. States and I think even some counties and localities have different rules about how they get into office and what they do. That stuff varies widely.

So even though Amurcans know constables aren't actual police, we're still very confused about what they are. Lots of people don't even know they exist, I suspect. Have no idea what the history of this weirdness is, but it probably stems partly from the colonies functioning quite independently from one another back at the country's beginning.

Arkansas has constables serving in rural areas where there isn't much crime and the money it would cost to hire full-time professional law enforcement is better spent elsewhere.  Essentially, a constable is around to help the sheriff do stuff like serve summons and potentially be used in a law enforcement emergency (like directing traffic at a big car wreck or manning a road block or sobriety checkpoint).  In Arkansas, some constables are certified which means they've gotten a specific amount of training and passed a test, many are not.  A lot of constables are older guys who are retired from the military or law enforcement so they are able to help in a pinch without much supervision or training.  Most constables are not paid, or paid a token sum like a dollar a year.  Constables who are certified are permitted to make traffic stops and such, those who don't have certification cannot do anything without direct orders or supervision of a real officer.

Abbie looked lovely. The dress suited her and looked better than the first picture we saw. Her hair was gorgeous. She is lucky with that curl that she could wear it that way and not have it wilt (ala Lauren).

So if the position isn't paid, why on earth would someone do it? Maybe I am biased ( My husband is Chief of Police and has been in law enforcement a long time) but...seriously. Law enforcement can be dangerous and you more often than not deal with just straight up assholes all day long especially doing stuff like traffic.  And it doesn't sound like they get to do any of the rewarding things ( responding to calls, community service ect) so I really do not see the appeal of volunteering in this way. If you really want to be doing stuff like that ( traffic stops, ect) just become a part time officer. This seriously confuses me. We don't have constables around here, and I would imagine it could be a huge liability too.

I guess I can understand maybe retired military or police who would like to volunteer, but for a young guy like JD?  Guess that TLC money must be good enough. Now that I think about it, it allows him to play police without doing any of the hard stuff or getting his hands dirty.

Well I'm glad to see Mechelle didn't wear the checked dress to the wedding.  The US pictures show her wearing a nice maroon colored dress. Maybe she changed dresses for the reception.

What was with JD & Abbie & the candy pacifiers or are those candy rings?

The post mentions how a lot of constables are retired military or law enforcement personnel who (presumably) want something to do, but don't necessarily need the income. Serving legal papers and issuing minor traffic tickets are generally not dangerous situations.

'Cuz there are a lot of folks like the Duggars who like the feeling of being in charge and telling people what to do while not actually having to 'waste' their time getting actual training?  And, remember, this is the rural south where the taxpayers don't want to spend money on frivolities like schools and law enforcement.  I suspect that there aren't many part-time officer positions available.  Why would they want to pay someone actual money when they can get some egotistical wanna-be to do it for free?

Abby looks very pretty and I am relieved to see that, in the shots taken during the ceremony, Mechelle is wearing a fairly nice and normal appearing wine colored dress and the buffalo plaid monstrosity is nowhere to be seen.  I guess she waited until the service was over before wearing it.

They look like candy pacifiers and I have no idea why on earth anyone would incorporate them into their wedding service.

I guess most of the cops I know count down the days to retirement haha! A lot of people retire from police work then go on to get security jobs at colleges or hospitals...easy, less work, better working condition AND you still get paid. Also if shit hits the fan you can call the real police. lol

Doodlebug you are likely right. I get why the towns would love volunteers due to lack of funds and it would serve an ego.

I think they're Ring Pops? I don't know why you'd want them at your wedding, either, but at least there's no "baby" connotation to them...

I'm kind of loving that Jana was the only Duggar sister who was a bridesmaid.  Abbie has actual friends, apparently (probably since she didn't move onto the Duggar compound in her late teens after an arranged Duggar marriage and has worked/attended LPN school "in the world."

That is a good angle for him, I  agree that is probably the best we've ever seen him. Abbie looks beautiful. Boob and Mechelle make me want to vomit sitting there beaming. Crazy ass stage parents

The two Jkids next to them...hahah. Love how unamused they are. You go girls

He looks really good in the first picture.... he has actually looked really good since he met Abbie. Love brings out something in him. He seems more relaxed and just so happy.

The wedding itself looked fine and the bride & groom looked delighted.  That pic of Michelle & JB is a very good one of her, actually.  The wine dress looks very appropriate.

The Pilot and Co-Pilot signs are cute.  Not sure about the ring pops, but every Duggar wedding has something ridiculous within it.

I didn't see those.

I think he also looks good with that vest and the open shirt. He also is age appropriate for a groom!

I bet they were the part of some prank. It was time for the rings, and the ring bearer or best man presented ring pops.

How reliable is Pickle's source?

It surprises me Josh was in JD's wedding. JD seemed very upset & disappointed with Josh over the molestations & probably the infidelity as well.  As in being upset enough to not be included in my wedding upset. Maybe time healed things (can't see how) or JB had a say in the matter.

I can't believe they would serve cold food.  Didn't someone see chafing dishes?  Maybe the food was cooked elsewhere  & brought hot to the hangar & kept warm in the chafing dishes. Maybe they had a few backup microwaves to reheat as needed.

It was the other way around. He was pissed over the infidelity. The molestations were a none issue for the family by that point, and only factored in their anger because all the "work" Josh did to redeem himself after the molestations meant nothing in light of Joshley Madison.

There are so many layers to the way this family is fucked up.

I still prefer Jinger's bridesmaid dresses, but these are nice too.  So few of these girls wear the right bra, it's unbelievable.  At least Abbie got her's right.  Jana's are close to hitting her waist.

My thoughts too. They need better bras!

Abbie and the female portion of the bridal party looked very nice.

In the picture  of Michelle and Jim Bob, it seems as if they are reacting differently compared to everyone else. It’s like a posed “candid” moment, to me.

Now that you mention it, they do look like the saggy titty committee.

No doubt the pastor mentioned them by name.  Attention always brings a smile to Momma and Pops.
