The Lonely Js Club: James, Jackson & Johannah

Message added by Scarlett45,

Discussing the charges against Jana is fine, but do not post any information that reveals her address/contact information- even if said documents are public (i.e. a part of court proceedings.)

Discussing charges against Jana is NOT a jumping off point to speculate on other instances abuse/neglect etc towards the M-children or to elaborate on Josh's conviction and potential victims.

Didn't Josh get married not too long after the period of food deprivation?  I think the oldest probably have food issues to this day.

It wouldn't surprise me if all of them do. Didn't one of the shows have Johannah standing at the freezer door eating frozen fruit?

I had 5 kids and had to lock my pantry door or they would devour a month's worth of snacks, treats, and pop in a weekend. But, there was always bread, peanut butter, jelly, and fresh fruit available for anyone who was hungry or who didn't get full at mealtime. My husband passed away when they were 15, 14, 13, 11, & 8 and for the next two years, I struggled horribly with depression and while I always made dinner, they were on their own for the rest. To this day, dinner is the only meal that all of them plan and make.

Looks like MEchelle got all dressed up for the party as opposed to Joy who looks like she threw on whatever  T-shirt that was available. Jessa is wearing her signature Old Navy swing dress (or whatever it's called).

Eh, Joy has an infant and doesn't live right next to the house of sister-auntie-moms, so I'll give her a pass.

I am surprised JB and Josh were not shoving everyone out of the way to get to the food.

Maybe the other Duggars don't tell them to come down/over for the party until after people have started eating the food.

OT, but I just want to say (as someone who has struggled with chronic depression most of my adult life) that you're a rock star, @Nysha.  I can't even begin to imagine.  I know your kids think you're a rock star, too. :)

(And dinner is the only meal anyone in my family ever planned or made, all others were kind of decided as we got hungry & made it work.)

Speaking of lazy in the photo with Johannah? there is a piece of masking tape on the top of the dishwasher that says - Broken, pls do not use.  Which begs the question, since all they seem to use is paper and styrofoam plates and plastic silverware, how many years has it been broken?

And why do they buy multiple private planes and real estate properties but don't replace or repair the dishwasher in their own home???

I can't recall a time I've ever seen the Duggars use real dishes and silverware. Even if the dishwasher is broken, they've got twenty freaking people living in the house. They could easily rotate dish washing duties if they actually gave a damn about the environment.

They still have the industrial dish washer & another regular one (thinking they have 2) so no one should have to wash anything.  They must not have a "family friend" to sponge a repair off of.

Well, I think that's a clever recipe hack, and probably cheaper than store bought.  They even got the crunchy cookie layer effect with the candy bars.  I'd eat a piece if you set it in front of me, though I'm just "OK" on ice cream sammiches in general so I can't imagine fiending over it.

Why do I think that they don't give a crap about the garden. They just like to ride around on motored machines.

I think that's true for the boys.  I know I'm in a different part of the country but that grass is the shortest I've ever seen.  I don't see how it would be comfy to play on or walk in, especially barefoot.  It's barely more than dirt.  Jana probably enjoys the garden just so she can get out of the house, such as that is.

Yeah, they're late. I murder all plants in my wake, but my grandparents always plant a big garden here in the Arkansas Ozarks. They've easily had everything planted a couple of weeks, if not longer.

I've already got most of my tomatoes/peppers in. My kale, lettuce, and peas have been growing for a while. Beans planted but haven't come up yet. Still need to get a few more San Marzano tomatoes and some eggplant. I'm a bit early with it, really...we generally plant the more tender things after Memorial Day here in Connecticut, but it's been reasonably nice and there doesn't appear to be any frost on the horizon.

Have to get some zucchini in as well, but haven't prepared that bed. The weeds are certainly happy.

What I will say about the marriages is that at least there aren't huge age differences between the couples. The largest age difference is JinJer at 6 years. There haven't been any relationships that have veered all the way into Handmaid's Tale territory (e.g., 20- or 30-something Nick and his new 15-year-old wife). Therefore, I think it is unlikely that JD will end up with someone Lauren's age, for example.

They might be biding their time until a young widow comes a long.  Of course that means JD will start with a dozen kids.

I have yet to understand why the Duggars, who seem to LOVE the Gaines', have not set up a garden and home decorating blog for Jana.  She could spin it off to some type of pretty photo type coffee table book  - Seasons in the garden or something and the leghumpers would buy it in droves.  She could maybe do a type of show like the Gaines', only instead of redecorating their house, she goes in and designs gardens for people.

Yeah, it really is great, I'm sure. She gets to be -- what? -- six feet away from the nearest other Duggar -- who's pointing a camera lens at her. And buy plants for the greater glory of Jizm Boob's and Meeeechelle's big tin house .......And wear -- what is that? -- two skirts? .... (or the famous tacked-on-pillowcase look...)

A fabulous, fabulous summar day out for a single 28-year-old woman.

She's single. She can't have a blog, can she?

That's a form of social media -- so  reserved for MARRIED women.

I mean, if you let a WOMAN have such a thing without first having been fully VALIDATED by a fundie-fundie MAN and being placed by Jizm Boob under her new headship's one-on-one control, it would send a VERY bad message to all those other wanna-be-uppity females out there. it wouldn't be complementary! She'd think she was a primary, not a secondary umbrella! JESUS WOULD WEEP!

Did she really sew a modesty chunk of fabric to the bottom of her skirt?

Sure as heck looks like it. ... .Nobody actually sells a skirt like that, right?   The only other possibility I can think of is that she's wearing a lightweight white skirt under the jean skirt. ... Which would be just as bad. If not worse.

And yet again -- it's ostentatious "modesty," too.

Just buy a longer skirt, damn it. They sell them. Or if you have to change it, find a hunk of used denim or buy some from the scraps table at the fabric store, maybe machine embroider it a bit, and sew that around there .......If you must be "modest," try for a little beauty or style or quirk or something ... Don't just post a sign about your modesty by throwing an old pillowcase in our faces.

I don't think Jana's an ostentatious person by nature. But to me this ostentatious faux modesty crap -- like diaper mountain and Jill's "soup" recipes -- is a stupid learned behavior from growing up in the Duggar household...a stupid tic that, like the others, she's swallowed whole and just lives with unthinkingly.

That skirt is one that they've either shared or owned multiples of. Jessa has worn it in the past. Either way, the white hem strip is stupid. It adds only an inch, at most, of extra "modesty." How pedantic can one get?

Truth is, the skirt is a perfectly acceptable length without  the white strip. It looks to be about 2 inches above the knee.  Even I think it’s fine. I’m someone who cringes at the outfits some of my colleagues wear in our office building cause the hemline is closer to the upper thigh than the knee.

I think it serves the same "purpose' as their other modesty items -- it ADVERTISES their holy modesty. LOUDLY.... It doesn't produce any actual modesty, however.

You are completely correct.  I actually wear more fabric than most of the Duggar girls do on a daily basis.  I would never in a million years call my style modest, I just wear what I like.  Maxi skirts and dresses have been popular for years.  Thousands of girls and young women wear them.  The Duggars are not as special as they think they are.

At this point, I'm pretty sure the stupid extra inch is all Jana. Even if she was to get married tomorrow, I just don't see her suddenly wearing pants anytime soon, if ever.

Maybe Jana was the one who sewed it on, but I'm sure the edict for its necessity came from Michelle. I mean, do you remember her reaction when Ben and Jessa held hands pre-engagement during *prayer*? Or when Derick and Jill full-frontal hugged instead of side hugged while still courting? "NO, not *THEM*!" <with bug eyes in full force>; "Needless to say, *THAT* won't happen again!" <insert fake smile/laugh here>

I don’t really like the Gaines, but aren’t they legitimately educated people? None of the Duggars could compare.

Jana's skirt reminds me of one I had in the 1980's during the "prairie" fashion craze.  It was a denim skirt with probably 2 inches of eyelet at the bottom, but it also looked like the middle of it was laced up with the eyelet underneath.  Yeah, luckily it was the 1980's and I wasn't the only one that dressed like that.  Back on subject: Jana should be able to buy plants for her own home, not for Jim Boob and MeChelle.  Or not buy living plants that she needs to take care of and buy silk instead.

Oh holy cow, you remind me that I also had a lightweight denim skirt with eyelet at the hem in the 80s. *shudder*

Blah.  No excitement or interest sparked here. They’re just putting out another bland post to try and deflect from derelict.

Actually, this is an advertisement for a Fundie mate. Look !! Jana is a gardener ! Quick, Fundie guys ...she's available ! Another season of Counting On is coming up and we need the wedding of the century..... and you could be in it !  Blech.

And no advanced gardener would buy their plants at Home Depot, where the pots dry out all day in the sun, then the after-school worker drowns everything with a hose at around 5 o'clock. No thanks.

That denim skirt is beyond stupid. Just buy a midi one at GW, then hack it off at that Fundie length. Raw hems are in style right now. And while she's hacking, she could hack about a foot off that dry-ended hair.
