Social Media: What's Up With Her?

I don't even watch this show but come here to occasionally read the Whitney hate. I've been watching my other TLC show (90D Fiance) and Whit's previews are driving me crazy! I feel bad that her mom had a stroke, but the dramatics when she's in the car saying "I just want my mom to know I love her" (something like that) is so OTT and I don't know, I don't see any tears. I think Whitney is a terrible person all around. I'm surprised I haven't hate watched her for years but I can't seem to bring myself to do it.

Or hWitney saying  "I just don't want her to suffer...." So, your dad should have her euthanized?  The only times I have *ever* said that was when I have made the incredibly hard decision to escort one of my beloved kitties to the rainbow bridge. (Which I've had to do twice in the last year)

I said the exact same thing about my father when he was dying. He was on a ventilator and he was definitely dying; there was nothing left to be done. There were really only two choices - leave him on the ventilator and wait for his heart to stop or turn off the ventilator. Since there was no chance he would survive, all I really wanted was for him not to suffer. So I understand what she is saying there (I mean, from only watching that one snippet out of context).

I'm truly sorry Babs is sick and has had these strokes. It really sucks to see your parents aging and getting these serious health problems.

But the blubbering. Dear God, the blubbering. In the talking head clip. In the car.  Even Glen (n?) looked puzzled. 

I sure hope Mom can recover. I like her and she seems like such a nice lady. A lot of spunk and life left in her!

Thank you for explaining.  I have no experience with aging/dying parents,  so I guess I just reacted based on my dislike of Whitney.

Thank you. It was many, many years ago. He was a great dad and I was lucky to have him as long as I did. 

I think everyone's experience is probably different and I think hWhitney tends toward overdramatic - so it's entirely possible that this really is an overreaction. It will be interesting to see the scene in a larger context.

I was in the same situation with my mother last year. She was diagnosed with metastatic pancreatic cancer in October and by late December, we were bringing her home for hospice care. That was the most difficult week and a half of my life. I would have given anything for her to have lived if she could have been free of pain and had some chance of recovery, but there was nothing we could do except try to keep her comfortable and let her know every moment how loved she was. I cared for her, fed her (and totally fell apart when she lost the ability to swallow), washed her, administered medicines... I don't think I slept more than a few hours that entire time. And by the end, I just wanted her to pass on so that her pain was over. I felt horribly guilty for thinking thoughts like that because the last thing I wanted was for her to be gone, but it was destroying me to see her in this state. I was holding her hand at the very end, telling her that it was okay for her to go and that there wouldn't be anymore pain for her. I was feeling her pulse when I felt it go out for the last time. And I'm still not over it. I don't think I ever will be, but that's me missing my mother. Not wishing that she was still alive if that meant she was suffering.

The problem is that these displays are about Whitney looking for attention for herself. At the time when her parents need her to be strong for them and to support both of them (Glen needs support as much as Babs does),  it's Whitney demanding to be comforted. It rubs me the wrong way because  I didn't have that luxury when I was in that situation. It fell me nearly completely to take care of my mother (because I couldn't leave it to my dad and my brother was living hundreds of miles away so he was no help at all). I had to compartmentalize so that I would be able to do everything for Mom that she needed and not putting my fears and pain on her (or anything else). But when I was alone, I bawled and screamed. My best friend had the honor of supporting me during those moments and letting me vent. And I got to return the favor when her father was diagnosed with liver cancer the day after Mom passed.

Moments like this reveal how strong or weak a person can be. My brother couldn't be there because (he told me) that he couldn't stand to see Mom like that and he didn't want his last memories of her to be when she was dying. I have to carry those memories, but I got those last precious moments with her. Whitney needs to grow the fuck up and be the support that her parents need. Otherwise she needs to make herself scarce because they last thing Babs and Glen need right now is to have to deal with a 400lb, nearly 40 year old infant.

I'm surprised that Whitney hasn't demanded that her "Boo Bear" abandon his fiancée and put their wedding planning on hold in order to move in with her and comfort her.  

Of course,  maybe she did, and he told her to pack sand.

Yeah I saw that promo clip.  And when I see that emotional fakery I remind myself that she's just performing in front of a camera crew.  She's doing this for her show.  We'll never again hear about the fake phony fraudulent French "romance" she promoted for an entire season.  As of it never happened.  Lenny is back because she needs some kind of man, Buddy wisely must have said NO MAS to being abused on her show.  Lenny seems like he may be the type that would do this for the $$. 

As far as Babs goes, I've known people very close to me that had strokes, even big ones, so yes the brain can recover given time & therapy.  Sometimes even rather quickly. Speech is the most difficult to get back 100%.   There's just no telling with brains. I couldn't imagine exploiting that person by bringing a camera crew to gawk at my loved one for my own personal gain, but maybe that's just me.  That's on Glenn, he curated that monstrous ego.

She's repeatedly said on insta that she and LeBlur are still together, are a happy committed couple and that there will be no mention of him on the show because she so respects his concern for privacy.

Here we are a few days from the new season, and already there's been at least one preview scene where Lennie and Whitney are doing some kind of painting project together. Whitney warns Lennie not to fall for her again because she has A Man, and Lennie should meet him. Lennie says he doesn't see the need, then tells the camera that he's never seen any actual evidence that this guy exists, so he shrugs off anything Whitney says and just acts as if the guy isn't real. 

Wonder how she's going to respect Her Man next time?

I didn't take it that way at all.  I'm not a nurse but have had some experience in health care coverage for beneficiaries in these situations.  

First, the nurse advocate is invaluable.  The hospital is not going to discharge Babs to the street.  The nurse advocate will help the family with the next steps and next care locations.

Second, not being eligible for a skilled nursing setting as the next step is NOT GOOD.  Medicare covers 100 days of SNF care and from what I gather with SNFs, you have to be getting better (or improving just a little) to be in a SNF, otherwise you're in a nursing home or something.  

Unless you have long-term insurance, nobody covers nursing home care.  I'm only speaking in generalities, I'm sure there are places and situations where nursing homes are covered.  Most people have to spend down to state Medicaid levels for Medicaid to cover nursing home care.  It is tough for families and I'm only talking insurance/health care coverage. 

Apparently Babs has gotten better as noted in an above post but when doctors talk about palliative care, etc., that is worthy of tears.  Plenty of them.  My two cents only.

Good points.  I can’t imagine nursing home care costs if out of pocket, with no long term care insurance.  With ReHab to start, Medicare covers that for so many days, but if no rehab is feasible?  Omg….scary.  Hopefully, Glenn and Babs have done some Estate planning with this type of situation in mind.  It can be very stressful and terrifying not knowing the system and where your loved one will go and how they’ll pay for it.  NC nursing homes run $8000-10,000. Per month.

Masking off triagles on a wall, thank god she got Lennie the 'artist' for this project because as she said, there's no one else qualified in that city and she 'had' to use her ex boyfriend for the 'job'. She could have hired some preschoolers for the same level of artistry.

Eh - it really depends on which part of America you are talking to. There is a growing "body positivity" movement out there that is trying to move away from the notion that skinny=healthy. We saw a huge surge of people developing anorexia and other eating disorders during COVID (though we had plenty of people suffering with these illnesses before COVID too) and our marketing still definitely emphasizes diet culture and equates thin with beauty, success, popularity, etc. And there are plenty of individuals out there who shame people who don't eat "healthy" or who are "overweight." Just last week a friend of mine whose daughter is being treated for anorexia had some busybody in the grocery store comment on all the "unhealthy" items in her grocery cart; she is intentionally feeding her child a high calorie, high fat diet to restore weight. Nutrition information is readily available, in both grocery stores and restaurants. Despite what Whitney pushes, America does not celebrate obesity. We barely tolerate it.

As for healthcare, yeah, our system leaves something to be desired, especially (ironically) for mental health treatment and particularly around eating disorders. Whitney appears to have good access to healthcare resources; she sees doctors and seems to have consistent care providers. If she has difficulty paying for these services, we have never seen that discussion. But she definitely doesn't seem to follow physician recommendations for much, particularly not related to her weight, which she seems to write off as an inevitable result of PCOS.

As someone with PCOS who understands the struggle, I hate when Whitney blames this for her weight gain. Yes, it’s harder — that’s a fact. You do have to eat less and work harder with PCOS (mostly eat less). I’ve also struggled with anorexia so watching my calories to make sure I don’t gain weight is scary sometimes, but it can be managed. I’m a stable size 8-10 with controlled diet and exercise, usually 1200 calories a day. 

Whitney acts like it’s impossible — I suspect she just isn’t ready to take control of her overeating, so she looks for something to blame. PCOS is her excuse.

If it is true that not only is Glenn staying there but also Twit that is not only insane but outrageous. Given how intrusive she is I wouldn't be surprised if her actions result in her mother being released sooner than originally scheduled.

Maybe they asked her to lead the dance class to give her something to do but the clip I saw was uncomfortable to watch for a minute or so. Imagine her being there full time while her parents are in residence.

I can’t tell if she’s talking or she’s just in mid smile since it seems to be a screen capture. Did anybody see this story?  I’m also still confused as to why Whitney is living with Babs.

Whitney and Babs were just repeating “””We Love You” over and over to all their fans and Whitney said lots of people have been asking where they can send cards and greetings to Babs so she provided the address to send them to.

In this photo, it looks like her rabbit teeth have been filed down, which was the reason, she said, for the braces.  This makes no sense.  Why didn't she just say, "I've got these two front teeth that are longer than the rest of my top teeth, and I'm going to have them shaved down?"  And then explain to us what the braces were for.  I agree that she had straight teeth beforehand; I don't understand what the braces (top and bottom) are supposed to do.

Unless.  Trimming down the top front teeth put everything else out of alignment.  I think that must be it.

I don't really see it as that big of a deal. I think it makes sense to have cards for Babs go to a post office box and that's one more errand that Glenn doesn't need. I don't have a particular desire to send a card to Babs but if people want to do so, this seems the most sensible way to get them to her.

It may be that when she had that tooth pulled, the other teeth started to drift and the braces are to pull them back together.  Someone with more dental knowledge that I could explain....

That’s pretty much it, which is why dentists will often have you get a crown or an implant when you have had a root canal - so that the teeth don’t drift and mess up the bite.

The thing that gets me with the ad of Twit’s over-the-too wailing is that if Twit had EVER shown her love for her mom over the last 10 years, she would know that Babs knows she loves her. 
 

Instead we’ve had 10 years of Twit demanding her parents shower HER with proof of love.

So Whit just decides to get braces like,  "yea I guess I'll get em".    Her teeth look fine.   It must be nice to afford very expensive dental work when you don't need it.    I need dentures and can't afford them even WITH my insurance.  I don't smile much and stay at home because my teeth aren't pretty.  It's just annoying seeing her get expensive dental care like it's a whim .      Sorry for the sour grapes.    Just venting 😒

I know that saying "I love you" doesn't prove actual love - but good Lord - Babs and Glenn and Whitney greet each other with "I love you" and a kiss on the lips and say goodbye with "I love you" and a kiss on the lips. Honestly, it must be pretty much meaningless when you say "I love you" like some people say "hello." 

So my point - there's no reason for Babs (or Glenn) to think that Whitney doesn't love them. She tells them all the freaking time.

Me too, but my teeth shifted. Did invisilign and love the results. It's pretty simple, you wear them and take out for meals and drinks excluding water. I eat lunch at work, and just carried my aligner case. And the one Friday a month that I rewarded myself with a Coke, I took them out. But aligners aren't much of a great storyline, but wire braces on an almost 40 year old woman made the cut this season.

I read around here that Hunter lives in Atlanta to work as an actor.  I found this series that he’s in.  He’s in this trailer for a second.  Watch carefully.  It looks pretty good.  I’m going to check it out.  It seems to have a Greenleaf (former OWN series) vibe to it.

Wrote a long post about something that was previously discussed (WWT moving into the assisted living place with her parents)  I didn't see it had already been discussed until after I hit "save"   Completely flabbergasted by her new living arrangement.

I wasn’t aware that WWT was living in the AL.  If so, I suppose we’ll see why on the show.  I wonder if it’s cause Babs needs so much care around the clock.  When my cousin needed so much care, I was informed that we’d need to hire an around the clock person to be with her or move to a place with a higher level of care.  If you pay for around the clock, one on one personal care, it’s extremely expensive.
