EmeraldGirl July 20, 2019 Share July 20, 2019 Ok so what is this new fuckery? They’re cooking in a trailer attached to a gym? Dreck is teaching fundy basketball for a summer job? And she dragged the kids over there to cook and eat dinner? I’m laughing at Dreck saying that Jill was making delicious bok choy. Cut to a very soupy looking pan and hear her say that she was improvising. 6 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/4651-jill-derick-the-kids-moving-on/page/970/#findComment-5461835

Also true that it represents Jill's level of maturity and social awareness. She was introduced to those missioncations in developing countries by her dad - who smugly bragged to everyone he encountered about how many children he had. Including, IIRC, at least one woman who had survived several of her own young children. To this day, I believe that when Jill married Derick, her "dream" of being a missionary was an adolescent fairytale image of Jill the White Missionary delivering babies for the incredibly grateful brown people in some developing country, and bringing souls to Jesus. After all, in her world view, the point of those mission trips is to spread the Word about the Correct Jesus and convince "those people" there to worship him, thus saving their souls from the fires of hell. So the remark about "bringing one back" is totally in line with the especially insensitive self-centered views of her parents + the theology that's been pounded in to her all her life. Which she spent, until her marriage, cloistered in the filtered, recirculated, and hermetically sealed atmosphere of the Duggar family house. ETA: Minus the "famous white midwife missionary" fantasy, the above IMO is true of the attitudes of all the Duggarlings including Jessa. Some of them may be more savvy, or at least more guarded, about how they speak, though. Ohiopirate02 July 22, 2019 Share July 22, 2019 While I think Jill's modesty shirt is too much for that conservative v-neck, I do sometimes wear 2 shirts in the summer in NC. I sweat, sometimes a lot depending on the day. I have some nice tops that require more than a spin in the washing machine. I do wear camisoles underneath them to absorb the sweat so I don't have to wash the fancy shirts after every wash. 6 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/4651-jill-derick-the-kids-moving-on/page/970/#findComment-5467293

Zella July 23, 2019 Share July 23, 2019 (edited) The menu prices for main dishes look pretty comparable to non-fancy sit-down places I am familiar with here in Arkansas. I have not been to Little Rock much so am not sure if there's usually a noticeable price difference between there and NWA. The only thing really made me raise my eyebrows was the appetizer prices but I don't usually order an appetizer, so that might just me being me. I felt really bad for Izzy in that picture that was posted. He just seemed so genuinely excited to be there--and I'm sure the trains were super cool to him--and to have his picture taken. Based on the way his parents often seem to treat him, I doubt the poor kid is made to feel special very often. 😞 Edited July 23, 2019 by Zella 1 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/4651-jill-derick-the-kids-moving-on/page/970/#findComment-5468243
