For kids that are always being filmed for social media, Jessa's 2 boys look fearful and apprehensive in that group picture, particularly in comparison to Izzy and Sam.

I can think of a few possibilities

1) Izzy and Sam were excitedly talking about things like the library and school and Spurgeon and Henry asked if they could go too and got berated by Jessa or Ben.

2) They already received a warning that went something like this:  “We are getting together with your cousins who have been led astray by the devil and by Aunt Jill and Uncle Derek. Don’t get too close or speak to them alone or the devil might plant evil ideas in your heart too.”

Honestly I could see this. It doesn't even have to be about school or the library. They could have been talking about TV shows or anything. J&D let their kid watch shows - bc in their day in a life of law school and law school graduation day videos, there were shots of the kids sitting in front of the iPad and Derick saying they get 30 min in the morning if they're ready on time.

On grad night before they went to bed, Jill said they each got to pick a YouTube video on some topic and the whole family watched - Iz picked something about one of the NASA missions; and Sam picked - how a bouncy ball is made/why it bounces so high. They is the kind of thing 6 and 4 year olds are interested in. I could imagine it coming up in front of Spurgeon who likely wishes he could watch too. But if Jessa/Ben are strict and/or have told him "we are NOT going to do what they do bc we don't agree with how they live" -- then I could see him being a defeated 6 year old who doesn't even excitedly ask -- can I watch the NASA video Iz is talking about when we get home?!

I just love how much insight into his true and authentic self Deertick is giving his potential employers.

Tons of social media proof of the prominent lying, backstabbing, family disloyalty, God-bothering, scamming, science discounting, threatening extortion, grifting, child endangering and so many other goodies he's displayed over the years.

It's all out there.  True and authentic, a job well done!

True and authentic the way Jeremy, future big time preacher, presents himself on social media?  I know that's what I want from my clergy: posts about eating out, pocket squares and sneakers while hiding any unpopular beliefs about homosexuality or women in authority or the Catholic Church in order to get followers.

While I despise much of what Derrick believes, at least he isn't a phony coward who prizes fame and fortune over truth and authenticity.

Good for Jill for getting vaxxed! To bad she didn't post it, as it might have encouraged others to get vaxxed as well. She has a platform, why not use it for good? Although maybe this post will encourage some too.

They did a Q&A several weeks ago in which they addressed vaccines and they were ok with vaccines, I know part of it was about kids vaccines for school. I am not inclined to go back and listen again to see if they talked about COVID vaccines but I think they did.

You people get free food if you're vaccinated?  All I got was a little bandage on my arm.

And good for the Dillards to get their shots.

I only got a band-aid too. Though my best friend of 40+ years gave me my shot and I got a hug.

Did you guys get a sticker?  I got a sticker.

You're right, it was about kids shots. No mention of the Covid vax.

I was thinking more like the "I voted" posts Jill dies every year. Seems they got vaxxed on the down low. To me its a little odd, I mean they bring us on their dates and they give bedroom tips, so its not like they're shy or private.

Reading the comments on Derelict's post suggest otherwise. Lots of "demon mark" posts.

The social shunning is real. I mean my social circle everyone got vaxxed. I happened upon my high school friend who was raised in a very small, religiously conservative church and whose parents showed off their covid vaxxies and the abusive comments under her post were through the roof. My friend was saying that her parents needed the vaccine because her mother had cancer. The abuse did not stop. It was shocking. People even told my friend that her mom was going to hell. It was awful.

But Derick and Jill going to Chipotle's for a vaccine meal I thought was a nice, subtle way of showing that they got their shots.

I'm in the US. No sticker for me, but I got a little care package after my first shot. It was at a CVS, so it was little drugstore samples. Nothing after my second shot at my "home" CVS where they actually know me!

I'm in the US. I went to a mass vaccination site (I didn't want to wait until it was available closer to home), so no sticker or samples. I did get a few freebie masks that I stashed in my car console in case an ear elastic breaks.

Topic: It really is a big deal for the Dillards to get vaccinated. I feel like they no longer qualify as Dullards.

Mod Annoucment:

Discussion of vaccination practices & swag, although fascinating, is off topic not appropriate for the thread unless it is directly related to Jill & Derrick.

If your post only briefly mentions Jill and Derrick, and is mostly about your experiences, it is better suited to Small Talk.

Further off-topic posts will be removed.

Sam is such a character/charmer!

Happy they get real haircuts! (Side eying Jessa and her bunch)

This! What is wrong with Jill? She gives her kids a haircut and there’s no hair on the kids’ eyes. 😉

The irony is IIRC Jessa was in charge of haircuts at the TTH. Israel and Sam look so darn cute pre and post haircuts.

Those boys are too darn cute, before and after the haircuts! I wish Jill could cut Sprugeon and Henry's hair. There are haircuts out there that can still keep the curls. They just need a style. Izzy and Sam have haircuts that are perfect for the hot weather. Sprug and Henry constantly look like they are a sweaty mess.

Because Sewarld offspring is a hot sweaty mess.

The Duggars own a freaking fire truck?

It looks like Sam had an awesome birthday. Riding in a fire truck to lunch and using the hose. That’s big for kids, heck SGirl is 14 and is fascinated by them. Thankfully the birthday party wasn’t at the TTH, lost among a thousand relatives.

Do people usually give food as a birthday gift? I’ve seen the Duggars do it often.

Was Jana there as James’s accountability partner?

How nice that Sam got to spend his birthday with James and Jana! I bet he loved riding in the fire truck. Who else was in Jill’s buddy group, was in Jennifer?  I’m 90% sure it was. I wonder if she wanted to come.

I can believe that Sam will have a special relationship with his Uncle James.

James is supposedly the "cool" uncle. He's apparently great with kids.

Jill's buddy team was Joy, James, and Jenni.
