I've never seen this anywhere else before, but Justin (the guy who knew Josh as a teenager and had the podcast of his old journal earlier this year) posted a new entry on Reddit today. It is from February 2006 and talks about Josh getting in trouble for racking up 20 hours worth of phone sex calls in the previous month. He would have been 17, on the verge of turning 18.

This was when they were supposed to be watching him so closely.  Yet he had access to a phone and was able to have 20 hours alone to have phone sex calls. Plus he had to know he would be found out when the bill came, yet he did it for 20 hours.  It is sad they could have done something more than shave his head and make him dig a pond. Even though it may not have made difference if he got professional help but they didn't even try.

I really liked Justin's podcasts. So thoughtful and interesting.

But wasn't Michelle IN A PARADE while the trial was on going?   Or did she have the breakdown upon hearing her golden boy was actually found guilty and her throne was a throne of lies?

the xmas parade It was  nov 28   the trial started nov 30 I think jim bob and michelle really thought josh would be found innocent and she actually raised josh and the the first couple of kids until the olders  started taking care of the youngers  so she had that connection to him

The parade, you mean? ....Yep, Jim Bob and Michelle rode on a float in a local Christmas parade over Thanksgiving weekend., which was the weekend before the trial began. Some of the younger generations were with them. They had a little granddaughter with them, maybe John David and Abbie's little girl, Gracie, but I'm not sure. In the picture she wasn't smiling, and I recognize Gracie by her smile (and none of the other granddaughters in her age group at all!). .... Jed! and Katey were on the float, too. Don't know if there was anyone else. JB and M were smiling as if they didn't have a care in the world, but I'd guess a lot of the people on the sidewalk knew that they did.....and were surprised.

there were a bunch of kids on the float but I didn't recognize any of them

Unfortunately, for Anna, Gothard teaches that, if a husband strays, it is the wife's fault.  So, since Josh ended up in prison, she is going to be looked at as a complete failure as a wife and helpmeet.  The Gothard set do not seem to differentiate between CSAM and adult porn, either.  Gothard was very big on stressing that any problems in a marriage are the fault of the wife, not the husband.

Poor Anna. Also why would anyone listen to a guy who s never married but apparently knows how to raise the perfect family? 🙄

Now that Josh is going to prison for quite awhile, I wonder if Anna just sits and wonders what the hell happened to her life? I'm sure she doesn't, but I can't imagine spending the years Josh will be gone with JB and Michelle, if that's where she'll be.

The more we find out, the more disgusted I am that JB & Meech completely mishandled everything.

They’re fundamental Christians and Christianity teaches us that it’s the responsibility of humanity to forgive sins. JB and M probably think they’ve done an amazing job implementing this specific command on their offspring.

On a personal note; I feel that some crimes are simply too horrible to deserve any form of forgiveness. (But that’s my personal opinion)

Because guys who have never been married are much more likely to believe they have the answers on how to raise a perfect family? As opposed to those who've married and had kids, who would need a massive amount of either self-deception or knowledge that they were selling bullshit, in order to tell others how to do it perfectly. . .

Reality bites. Or something.

Of course that is why a never married guy would preach on how to raise a perfect family.

As to why anyone would listen to them, I suppose hope springs eternal and all that.

Catholics have done and do the same all over the world, and it works for the majority of us.

And yet for years media outlets of many kinds, a bunch of church-y organizations, commercial enterprises and state and local governments portrayed them and honored them as some sort of ideal parents.

And I don't think they looked like ideal parents at all, even based on what was shown, without even considering all the stuff they hid and/or lied about, a substantial chunk of which predated their national media career entirely.

Sounds much like Scientology.

Well, JB did say years ago that he supported the death penalty for rapists. But only for the ones outside his bubble, I guess.

Priests do get an extensive education, including in counseling, etc. So they are all much more qualified than Gothard.

i remember when the show first came on that my sisters and I thought they were kooks but not terrible people.  I think a lot of us liked the idea of a large, loving family (Sound of Music, Cheaper by the Dozen etc)  and thought that's what we were getting with the Duggars.  Boy were we wrong!

Yeah, I'd bet that's true of pretty much the whole audience. That's the way they were sold......Only later did it start leaking out that that's not the way they apparently actied!

Will she have reduced status, though?  It sometimes seems to me that going through shit at the hands of your husband is probably one of the top ways to gain status in their world (after having loads of kids, of course).  She may get even more credit from other fundies for standing by her man when he’s in prison for awful crimes than she got for standing by him so far.

I have been reading on a very fundie wife's Facebook page, and over there, Anna is way more than a saint for sticking by her sick husband's side. They admire her more than ever, and that is her Biblical job to stick with him and be his wife, and never divorce him, no matter what he has done. I just can't get over some of their comments, just unbelievable to me.

On another note, I was all ready to research like mad to find out facts about the Duggar situation. That day the power had been surging like crazy in the house. That night, an old faulty breaker in the very old breaker box caused my t.v, laptop, electrical heaters and water pump-everything that used the old breaker box-all got shorted out, just very lucky that I was still awake and caught it or the entire house could have burned down! The electrician came out early the next morning, and we replaced everything that had been fried, so it's all safe now. The only modern thing that never shorted out because it was getting it's power from the newer breaker box from when we added the addition to the old house, was the damn router, the only thing that never had to be replaced!! Maybe it's a sign that I spend too much time snarking about these people? Nah, never going to stop the only fun I have!

I fixed that.  See, Jesus told me not to disturb router, so I just let the dust pile up.  In fact, I've been doing that all over my house.

I'm kind of glad that my tv shorted out because it was at the stage where every little piece on the back of it, plus the screen, needed cleaning, not the funnest job to have to do. Dust piles up very quickly when there are forums to read through!

My router died this week. I think it's ashamed of my Obsessive Duggar Disorder.

Well I am just happy to be able to have this forum of other like-minded people to snark with, because nobody else that I know watches reality t.v. like I do! I did ask a friend if she had heard about the Duggar mess, but she had no clue who they were, and I was too ashamed to elaborate.

The offender needs to feel and express remorse to merit forgiveness, IMO. Be forgiven, then go and sin no more. That ain’t Josh.

Forgiveness doesn't mean you simply continue on as though nothing happened. If someone steals $100 bucks from you, you might forgive them and still be your friend but you are NOT going to leave your wallet out so the person can steal again, right?

Are you sure the router wasn't behind it all? Routers are very, very sneaky after all, we now know from Josh's trial!

Is it possible that the courts/CPS could tell Anna that she is not allowed to live on Jimbob's property, due to his coverup and denial of Josh's problems? I worry about Anna's kids and any other kids who have potentially had time alone with Josh.  Josh is seriously disturbed. Anna is not to be trusted either since she is staying with and protects a pedophile. What else are these people hiding?

That would be highly unlikely.  CPS is going to realize that Anna has almost no options to support herself and 7 little kids for the next few years without her FIL's assistance.  JB is the lesser of several evils in this case.  There are too many kids out there who have no one they can count on to provide a roof over their heads and food on the table for CPS to deny the M's access to support.

Makes sense. I guess the brainwashing will continue on.

Poor, pathetic Anna. She has such low standards.

Been 3 minutes for me, maybe they don't like my answers?! Yes, she certainly does have low standards, she married him, didn't she?!

Bowman Fedosky grew up with Josh and his family. He is verified AMA by mods on reddit, answering questions from posted comments. He said that when he was between the age of 9-12 and Josh was between 15-16, Josh gave his family some used computers, and thought that he had deleted the porn from those computers. But he never, and that was the first time Bowman ever saw porn. His parents knew about it and still kept their friendly relationship with Josh and his parents. They just bury their heads in the sand I guess, what a way to live a life.

He says that the girls used to laugh and joke around John David, but they were very quiet and subdued around Josh. Josh also confessed about Ashly Madison and the prostitute to Mr. Fedosky, but Bowman was not in church the day Josh had to confess. Mrs. Fedosky included in her home schooling curriculum that Bowman had to provide free labor to Jim Bob while their mansion was being built, because it was part of learning trades.
