So I just looked through the various TLC photo albums and here's my thoughts:

Kendra's baby shower sucked ass compared to Jinger's.

Joy is not losing that pregnancy weight any time soon.

Michelle looks absolutely ridiculous in relation to the ever-stylish Diana Vuolo.

Jeremy and Jingle have some really nice friends. Whoever hosted that shower put a lot of time and effort into it.

I don't particularly care one way or another about gender reveals, I just want to know why they're wearing black to a baby shower...

I love wearing black. It's one of my favorite colors to wear. It's slimming and it hides sweat really well.  And I sweat a lot while pregnant, especially at a packed baby shower where I was the center of attention (and Jinger's probably also had some professional People photography lights around her, too).  I can see why she went with black.

Julia Vuolo. I like it. Not that it’s my choice, but that’s pretty.

I like it, too. But I'd think that may be too simple for them- probably Julianna, Julietta, Juliette, etc would be more on trend for them. As long as it's a name and not spelled completely ridiculously, I'll be happy for Baby Girl V.

Great point. I absolutely refuse to call it a Gender Reveal Party.  (Although "Sex Reveal Party" sounds a lot more fun than it really is.)

I'm about thisclose to asking expectant parents, "Are you going to find out about the baby's external genitalia?"

We had one with our first child (we were married 6 years before getting pregnant and in our 30s, so our close friends/family were excited about the baby, as were we).  My dad (who is/was) in his 70s kept calling it a "baby sex party." I had to keep telling him he needed to just say "gender reveal party" or "baby gender party" because if not, the FBI were going to show up at our doors and at the gender reveal.  As a social scientist, I'm always harping on the differences between sex, gender, & sexuality....but I think this is one case where "gender reveal" is probably just the better term because....yeah.....

My husband and I both grew up in New Orleans.  We ordered a king cake from a NO area bakery and had them put either a blue or pink king cake baby in it -it turned out to be blue, as we were having a boy. (My dad got the piece of cake with the blue baby in it, which was neat, especially since we knew beforehand that if we had a boy, he'd be named after his grandfathers.) It was just snacks and king cake for family and close friends.  No paint gun explosion, no relay race, and no neon sign.  I have no problem with gender reveals, but some are definitely more extra than others. We certainly didn't have one for our second child (a girl), because no one cared that much besides us.  We'd just had a baby a year before, so while we were excited to find out the sex, we weren't about to expect anyone else to come to any kind of get-together for baby #2's gender reveal.  We just called family/friends and posted it on social media.

Her hair is absolutely horrendous! Much too long, stringy, unhealthy, unflattering ... horrendous! Just think what a haircut and a new pair of shoes alone would do for her. I can’t stand to look at her or Boob.

When I watched the video, the first thing that stood out to me was Jinger's skin. It looked a lot more bumpy than usual. Wouldn't it be awesome if it was because she had been on birth control, which made her skin looked nice, and then stopped to get pregnant?! In reality, it was likely lack of makeup, since her skin looked good in the pictures taken at the shower, but a girl can dream.

I hope it was a fun shower.

I looked at the TLC pics, and of course noticed the Si/Lauren photo.  Their wedding will no doubt take center stage next season.  I may just come here for the snark.

When I went off the pill in the mid-70's, my skin broke out horribly.  Makes me wonder about Jin, as well.

Why the hell does MEchelle get a corsage?

It's actually pretty common for the Grandma-To-Be and Mom-To-Be to wear corsages at a Baby Shower. This may be regional or cultural, but I've seen it plenty of times and there is actually etiquette articles dedicated to what is and isn't appropriate.

Thank you. I did not know. I will remove my snark for this post.

I still think she does not deserve a corsage ... because I think the focus should be on the future parents.

That said, anyone need a ride to the Prayer Closet? I got room.

I was looking at the photos of the gender reveal party and I have to say the J'chelle just looks awful She really needs to go shopping with someone else and actually take some advice in choosing a few decent outfits. She doesn't even have to do attractive, she just needs a couple of things that will allow her to attend the special events in her children's lives without looking like a steaming pile of crap.

That white thing in the second photo Lunera posted looks like a gigantic dildo to me, and Jinger seems to be enjoying it. Guess I'll take you up on that ride to the Prayer Closet.

LOL....had to go back to see what you were talking about. I think it's just a little baby outfit she is holding up, but now I can't un-see your interpretation!

You learn something new every day.

I have never seen corsages at a Baby Shower before.  I didn't have them for my work or family baby showers.

I think the corsages for a shower are optional and it may depend on how formal the shower is.  For my wedding shower, it was about as formal as a shower can get and I and both mothers as well as the hostesses had corsages.  Nothing for other showers for me.  For my daughter who married into a more formal (likes to "put on the dog") family, corsages all around at every shower.  So I wouldn't expect many hosted by the Duggars showers to have a bunch of corsages, but Jinger's baby shower seemed a very done event so the corsages go along with that.

Does the guest of honor get to wear one of those tissue paper flowers made out of toilet paper rolls for a corsage at a Duggar shower?

Even tho I prefer the less formal type of baby shower like Kendra had, I kind of feel sorry for her after seeing what Jinge had. Wonder if Sierra helped with Kendra's?  Hoping the Caldwell side of the family is planning their own (nicer than Duggar) shower for her.

I'm sure Sierra was foaming at the mouth seeing Jinge's shower. I think in her mind, she thinks all her showers are as nice as Jinge's. (Decorations, food, etc)

For a minute I thought that was a pic from my wedding with Gee Golly! Our colors were blush and bashful, too!

You say that like it's a bad thing.

I thought the same thing! Do you know how long it took to blow up all of the balloons ? for your wedding? Thank God someone called the paramedics after I passed out. Hope the flashing lights from the ambulance did not ruin your wedding pictures.

I’ve never seen the shower corsages, but they’re certainly a cute touch, especially for the grandmas-to-be. For moms-to-be, I usually see either a shower tiara or sash or both, kinda like Ms. America lol. They’re usually themed to the baby’s sex

If yall think Jinger’s shower is decadent, I wish y’all could see some of the ones I’ve been to lately. Apparently it’s all the rage to pretty much do up ones baby shower like a wedding, especially if you’re not married or haven’t had a wedding. I’m talking formal dinner setups, chiavari chairs, big throne monstrosities for mom and dad to be...

I guess the days of bbqs in the backyard and playing that game where you sniff chocolate bars smeared in a diaper are through ?

In the age of social media, everything is getting bigger and bigger. Want to know the latest trend among my local mom groups? Half-birthday parties... yeah, you read that right, HALF-Birthday Parties. And gifts are expected!

I have a friend who does small family-only birthdays because she refuses to throw soirees for a toddler reminiscent of a ball at Verseilles. Are these ridiculous parties really for the kids or is it just competition between moms?

I'd bring a small saw and give a half-gift. Just think of the instagram hits!

I get you having a corsage, but I have never seen the mothers getting them. I had one at my bridal shower, but only me.

My MIL had a corsage at my bridal shower.  Regarding the baby shower- my MIL wasn't there (she lives across the country) and my mother is deceased, but had they both been there, they would have had them, too.  Just something special to honor the grandmas.
