HunterHunted May 10, 2016 Share May 10, 2016 Landon really seems to think that her travel art website is going to be the next Goop, Draper James, the Honest Company, or Preserve. Well, it might be the next Preserve which means that it will be clueless, terrible, and quickly shuttered. The thing is that we can barely put up the above websites and they have Gwyneth Paltrow, Reese Witherspoon, Jessica Alba, and Blake Lively associated with them. Secondly, Reese's and Jessica's sites also understand their audiences. Reese's audience is basically every woman on Southern Charm who isn't Patricia or Kathryn. She sells cute clothes and home decor that appeal to middle and upper class southern women in their 20s and 30s. Jessica's audience is health wellness conscious women in their 20s - 40s. These are women who soul cycle and do juice cleanses, but aren't going to juice their own fruit. And the Goopster's audience is everyone who think she's ridiculous. You might have somewhat similar tastes as Goop, but her recommendations are moronically expensive and privileged. Today she recommended a 24 karat gold dildo that costs $15,000. But Landon, is barely famous and hasn't really demonstrated such fantastic taste that I'd want to pay attention to her recommendations about anything, be it travel, art, clothing, party planning, or bourbon. 11 Link to comment

She's held a bunch of different positions there, most as product managers. Somehow Craig really believed he was in the running to be the bourbon division manager. He was utterly embarrassed when JD confronted him and told him otherwise. I suspect shenanigans - I believe JD and production led him to believe this off-camera just so they could knock him down on-camera. I think that's why he was so upset. Although I think he and Naomie are incredibly naive, I hate that they were publicly humiliated. JD sure seemed to relish admonishing Craig publicly. I agree JD is slimy. I think he hitched his wagon to Thomas, and he and Elizabeth are using the show to advance their "brand." JD sucks up to Thomas with a frat boy bonhomie, exuding cockiness, while to me he's utterly craven. I don't buy Elizabeth's sainted demeanor toward Kathryn either - she's playing a role. According to LinkedIn, JD has been in real estate for 10 years. Before that he was in medical sales, and he went to college in Colorado. JD also owns Sermet's Downtown in Charleston, which is a very successful upscale restaurant. He's successful in his own right - I don't think he needs Thomas at this point, but maybe, prior to Thomas getting mixed up with drugs and jail, the Ravenal endorsement of the restaurant was an bonus for JD, when trying to establish Sermet's in a town chock full of great restaurants. 5 Link to comment

This really had more to do with Craig's oversized ego. He probably thought because he went to law school and invested $15k into JD's company, it entitled him to running the bourbon line. When the reality he has zero experience (or knowledge of the product) and was fired from his last job for not showing up for work. And truth be told, $15k is really chump change, considering JD's portfolios. 5 Link to comment

JD's got to have hundreds of thousands of dollars invested in the Bourbon start-up (maybe more) and most likely other investors besides Craig!!! $15,000 will get Craig the payout he deserves in about five years or so if the bourbon starts turning a profit. Which it has more of a chance of doing with Craig NOT running it. However, I did enjoy Naomi's reaction. First time I've seen her act like more than a French robot. 5 Link to comment

I also found her quite genuine in that moment and I think Elizabeth was a little taken aback as well. Yes, Kathryn's motives may be in question but she delivered a heartfelt apology while taking all the blame. In addition, her talking head only reinforced the fact that she knew it was her fault. Well done. I understand Cameran not wanting to get involved in the drama but really, meeting her for coffee would be the nice thing to do. I'm disappointed that she couldn't take the high road. 16 Link to comment

I think Shep loves Cameron because she gives him a lot of personal attention and it's super low commitment because she is married. He's obviously attracted to her. Elizabeth is super sweet and forgiving to be so welcoming to Kathryn after she ran away from her, taking Kensie, at the polo match, for no known reason. She is very mature and obviously stable. She is trying to be there for Kathryn and not holding grudges which is very mature. It was smart for Kathryn to reach out to her. Cameron was interested in Kathryn when Kathryn was with Thomas and could potentially buy a house. Without Thomas, there will be no house purchase, and therefore, Cameron is not interested. I think he's often most attracted to the women he can't have...he's free to pine after them knowing he'll never have to put up or shut up because it will never get to anything like a commitment. People with fear of commitment and fear of intimacy tend to fall only for people who are out of reach in some way. If Camaran were to divorce and then turn her eyes to Shep, he'd suddenly lose interest. Either that, or he's into, as Craig said, the conquest, the chase. After the conquest, it's onto the next. 8 Link to comment

scrb May 11, 2016 Share May 11, 2016 The pitch thing was fake. Landon has no background in publishing or new media. Bravo arranged that meet because it's highly doubtful a media company takes pitch meetings from someone with no resume in the field. So was the bourbon tasting. If Craig really cared, he'd have at least searched a couple of websites so he wouldn't be asking questions like "what is the difference between bourbon and whiskey" on camera. Producers had him constantly saying "our" bourbon because he can't be that dense, though his and Naomi's facial expressions looked convincing. 4 Link to comment
tenativelyyours May 11, 2016 Share May 11, 2016 In Landon and Craig I think we are seeing the poster children for "pretty gets by". Granted I think that applies to most of this cast. None are what I would call stunning. But almost are attractive, or were in some way (I think Ravenal's money went a long way to making the love child of Curious George and the Man in the Yellow Hat look appealing). Enough in smaller circles to always 'get by'. Throw in any athletic prowess and you have a rather golden youth in today's society and have for some time. I think neither Craig or Landon have ever truly had to carry their own weight like most people. Just enough looks combined with the right circumstances and I think they have always had others lend them the edge. And both are immature and self-involved enough to refuse to realize this and instead think everything they have is due to their own talents and skills. Never really looking to see what they actually do have (when the show goes, what do either of these two do to pay the bills?) Sadly before I jump down from my soap box, I have to say that I don't think they are rare. Or scarily, the minority. We live after all in a society that still tells us we can be whatever we want at the same time we strive to find others to blame for own faults. A society of Least Responsibility coupled with Overwhelming Expectations. Has reality caught up with 'Reality' or vice versa. I do get a kick over the increasingly thin veneer of poseur in regards to Patricia as the season goes. No wonder she was considered a golden girl in Washington. (Gold-digging as a second career as opposed to the first one. Sort of a Pamela Digby Churchill Harriman extra lite). 10 Link to comment

breezy424 May 11, 2016 Share May 11, 2016 I don't think Landon and Craig are in the same category. Landon gets by. Craig went to law school. Did he screw up with the bar? Yes. But that's not just getting by IMO. Oh, and Landon is in her thirties. Craig is in his mid twenties. That's also significant. Craig did buy into JD's business. A very small part of JD's business. And yeah, he does have the money because he makes a salary from doing Southern Charm. Craig's problem is that, as a twenty something, he's hungry but doesn't get that you have to prove yourself. Yeah, it seems he's doing well with the hotel part of JD's business but that doesn't mean he's qualified to do the Bourbon part. Like, most twenty somethings he's got a lot to learn. On the other hand, Landon, who is in her thirties, just doesn't get it and she should know better at this point. She's kind of pathetic. Just like Thomas is when it comes to his relationship with Kathryn. He's in his fifties and should know better. Actually, they kind of make a perfect, pathetic couple who deserve one another. 5 Link to comment

Bossa Nova May 11, 2016 Share May 11, 2016 I suspect that JD took the naiive Craig on board to get the show's exposure for his businesses. JD is only a "bit" player on the show, not a featured star/castmember as Craig is. So by taking Craig on, he is insured to get more camera time for himself and his businesses. JD is no fool, he has some savvy smarts, I guess, but I don't find him likable. I think he is good ole boy southern cocky. A stereotype, and almost a cliche' that turns me off. He just needs a light colored linen suit and a cigar.Oh wait, he is wearing a bow tie and light sports jacket in some of his talking heads. His wife, Elizabeth, however, does seem sweet. She must be his alter ego. Landon, Landon. Tsk, tsk. While that "pitch" meeting in New York might have been producer driven, the stuff that came out of her mouth was her own. She is an idiot and a dilettante: dil·et·tante: a person who cultivates an area of interest, such as the arts, without real commitment or knowledge. "a dilettante approach to science" synonyms:dabbler, amateur, nonprofessional, nonspecialist, layman, layperson "there is no room for the dilettante in this business" archaic a person with an amateur interest in the arts. 8 Link to comment

seasquared May 11, 2016 Share May 11, 2016 Craig's comment about taking the bar exam when he was "not" arguing with Naomi at the end of the tasting speaks volumes as to how poorly he will do if/when he ever takes it. A 6,000 square foot, 5 bedroom, 4.5 bath pristine historic home would not be listed for mid-700s anywhere in Charleston or even Mt. Pleasant. A quick search proves my hunch right. He was especially swarmy this episode. I think Craig needs a place with a good mentor and a structure for advancement, and that is where he will thrive. Landon, on the other hand. Oh goodness. Seriously, she didn't even know what her differentiating factor would be? Or she was so unimpressive, he had to explain to her what an elevator pitch is? Did she at least lead with Vox not having a publication about travel. And what does travel even mean? It can incorporate so much! It just seemed to be such a waste. I can understand her not liking Kathryn, but her vitriol makes me think she might have slept with Thomas. It is a bit mama bear. I think she always thinks of herself as a guy's girl, and gets really jealous when the guys pick someone over her. I don't know if she necessarily has feelings for Shep, but she was definitely a little cold to his date. And it wasn't just editing, you can see her expression in the background of some of their interactions. 3 Link to comment
izabella May 12, 2016 Share May 12, 2016 Didn't Kathryn double-flip her off last season, and that's why Landon has no time for her? Well, that and wanting a rich husband, any rich husband, even Thomas. 4 Link to comment
RHJunkie May 13, 2016 Share May 13, 2016 (edited) I really liked the conversation between Kathryn and Elizabeth. It seemed genuine and organic rather than manufactured for tv. I really like what I've seen of Elizabeth so far. Kathryn and Elizabeth may have started as friends of convenience but accepting the role as godmother to Kathryn's child seems like a bond that Elizabeth highly values and takes seriously and for that, she was willing to listen, understand and give Kathryn some peace of mind knowing that not everyone in the world is against her. I can understand Kathryn's insecurities of feeling left out when she made so much of her life about her man and his friends. It was mature of her to accept the blame for the issues in their relationship and hopefully they move forward with a stronger friendship because of this. I feel as if I get dumber by the second just listening to Landon talk. Honestly, her voice is really irritating to me and is only made worse by the fact that she never seems to have anything intelligent or substantial to say. Watching her pitch in NYC annoyed me because it only convinces me that Landon is a spoiled woman who has been so used to receiving helping hands in life that she thinks that she can waltz into anything and be rewarded. How do you arrange to pitch an concept without actually having a real concept? She said she wanted to focus on travel because it's the one area that the company doesn't focus on yet she made her pitch a concept that included literally everything. She had no idea for her vision, template, etc. ZERO work put into it. Landon wants to find a way to make a career out of her artistic interests which is understandable, but the opportunities don't come out of thin air. You have to do your research if you want people to invest in you. She's going to trust that her passion will find her success?? Passion means little without the hard work to support it. She seems to think she lives in a world made of magic pixie dust where your dreams become a reality by simply wishing really really hard for them. Craig was like the male version of Landon in this episode, lol. Yeah he can blame JD for not being transparent but all of the things that JD could have given him are all the things that he could have looked into and inquired about himself. He expressed so much interest in running the bourbon division and didn't think it would be important or impressive to show the initiative to learn about the industry and the product? Unless someone is foolish enough to hand over their money to Craig for him to prove how 'smart' he is, Craig is going to have a hard to finding success in life. He clearly seems to think he deserves a lot more than what he's worked to earn it. Also, for someone who wants to be a lawyer, he uses filler words such as 'like' far too often. Cameron seems to be the only one with any understanding of hard work. She doesn't do her job because she has to work to help pay the bills. She's made a career out of something she finds interesting and her success comes from the fact that she's willing to commit and work hard. Edited May 13, 2016 by RHJunkie 6 Link to comment
Giselle May 13, 2016 Share May 13, 2016 Katheryn is as ugly as sin even when she has her hair done up and slapped on a ton of makeup on to disguise her bulbous forehead and beige, meaning plain, features. The only photographs where she looks half decent are a few done professionally or they catch her at the odd moment. Nope not pretty at all. YMMV If she were a baby I' tell her parents "She looks remarkable." 4 Link to comment
scrb May 13, 2016 Share May 13, 2016 Still remember Thomas gushing about her physicality in the first season. And apparently, his reaction to first seeing her helped get her on the show in the first place. Link to comment

I have seen plenty of occasions on the show where she has looked quite beautiful. However, her brand of crazy knocks her down plenty of notches in my book. 9 Link to comment
RedHawk May 13, 2016 Share May 13, 2016 (edited) Shep keeps advising everyone to "take the high road" and asserting that "it's so easy!" Yeah, he really took the high road when Kelsea Ballerini won the auction with $5001.00 for a date with Craig. Shep was the very definition of sore loser! I enjoy watching Craig and Naomi interact. I'd watch them packing dishes and chatting for a full hour. Comparing that to T-Rav and Kathryn and the endless baby-mama drama, I'm over it and would love for the show to continue without them so we can focus on other people and stop hearing Thomas instruct others to respect "the mother of [his] children" when he doesn't give her much respect himself. I'd be ok if either Thomas or Kathryn remained, but not both. Kathryn and Cooper are fun together. I'm most tired of T-Rav, so he can go run for dog-catcher or something.
