Sweet Fellowship: Duggars and Friends (aka the Bates Family and Other Featured Families Thread)

Message added by Scarlett45

If a person/family was never featured on any of the Duggar shows, and is not related to the Duggar family by blood or marriage, they do not need to be discussed here..

We may all agree that David Rodriques is quite unfortunate looking, but let's refrain from comparing human beings to apes, its got way too much of a loaded history- please review the new Inclusion Policy updated May 1, 2022 , which details guidelines around discussing body type, capabilities, physical appearance etc. Additionally, using body size as an insult is not allowed.

Maybe this baby will be a blessing in disguise for the other kids . The baby is going to need therapists , doctor visits ...  maybe one of them will finally do something about the starving  older siblings .  And they can't just hop on the bus and leave  (or they could but that would look bad ).

I have to ask...when would vibrators be used for a medical issue. I could imagine going into a place with a doctor order for a vibrator. Darn it! I guess I should just move into the Prayer Closet.

Btw, do men (I use the term loosely here) like JB, Josh the Slob, Gil, or Chimpy use a little magic blue pill in case of certain male problems, or would they blame the little woman for not getting a rise out of them. Could someone please pass the heavy duty brain bleach to me.

Well, sexual dysfunction is a medical issue, or at least a psychological issue. I think that's probably what it is.

Patriarchy and prudery is alive and well, so let’s talk vasectomy reversals at weddings.  Let’s keep proclaiming how much we loathe the evil government while using the emergency room as primary care (looking at you, Gil Bates); producing more kids than we can feed properly (looking at you, Chimpy), getting TLC to pay your medical bills or not paying them (Jill, Jessa, Boob, And soon Joy).  We’ve got to make them wimmin folk obey their men.  I don’t know what’s worse-these patriarchal pigs or their women who agree it’s them.

Oh, my bad. For some reason I thought JB was Chimpy. So sorry. Carry on!

Back in the day, before they were sex 'toys', vibrators were used to treat 'hysteria' in women (because a good orgasm can do wonders for your mental health). It would not surprise me at all to hear that some politicians still believe every issue any woman is having is the result of female hysteria.

I would rather use a vibrator than have sex with someone like JB, Josh, Derelict, Gil or other males who have been mentioned in this thread. Now if you will please excuse me I will be moving into the Prayer Closet. I will be having a Moving Into the Prayer Closet Party as soon as I am settled in.

I mean...can't you just use a vibrator for a sore shoulder or something, too?!

I was going to say...did these vibrators come with instructions, or did women rub them against their temples and shoulders as the pictures on the package suggested and wait for relief? And how many of them worked out a more diverting answer on their own?

When it was being done for medical reasons? Originally, they would go to their doctor, and their doctor would bring them to orgasm either digitally, or using a vibrator, and they would then have them prescribed for home use, by said doctors if they seemed to work. They used to be sold on shelves of drugstores, with the purpose being for that kind of relief, then the porn industry got their hands on them, and all of a sudden they became shameful and something that needed to be hidden, because it was fine if they were being used for medical purposes, but if that medical purpose actually turned out to be some form of sexual fulfillment, it was something women shouldn't be doing.

Surely not historically accurate, but they made a romantic-ish comedy film about the invention of the vibrator because doctors got tired of manually getting women off -Hysteria. It was ... okay, as far as I remember. I watched it for Hugh Dancy.

There is also a play: In the Next Room (or the Vibrator Play) by Sarah Ruhl. It was nominated for three Tony awards.

When I first heard about the movie Hysteria, I thought it was based on this play, but it is not.

I know the conversation has been focused on JillRod, but has anyone seen the post that appeared on Erin and Chad's insta? It's a selfie of Erin and the post is supposedly written by Chad.  It is so vomitus.  I was like, Girlfriend totally wrote that herself so she could post a photo of herself that she REALLY liked.....while remaining MODEST. BLECH

sorry, Erin babe but i gotta tell ya  #notmodest      Oh and Chad, bragging isn't really modest either. Just a little FYI.

Those Bates girls look like a bunch of sex kittens anyway. Kelly likes it because it validates her about producing pretty girls since she is an ugly mess.   Gil likes it because...I don't know but birds of a Gothard feather flock togther...so you can fill in the blank...

Erin has always been a narcissist. That photo looks like her foundation is about an inch thick.

I think Kelly is attractive, especially for a Gothardite or other fundie (compare her to Terri Maxwell). That doesn't stop me thinking Kelly is a hypocrite and a terrible mother.

I think she did attempt to follow some youtube videos or instagrammers.  The "no makeup" look is not on trend at the moment.  It's all about slathering on as many products as possible mostly because cameras need more makeup.  These are supposed to be editorial looks, not everyday ones.  She is way too young to need to use full coverage foundation, heavy duty concealer, and totally done brows as an everyday look.

Erin totally wrote that post. Unless Chad is the biggest emo wuss on the planet, I don't know any guy who writes or talks in such gushy, flowery language. It's weird because I like Erin and find her funny on BUB, but she's also majorly self-absorbed and lives to show-off on social media. I haven't read the comments but I'm sure everyone is telling her how gorgeous she is and how jealous they are of her "perfect" husband *eyeroll.*

I've said it before and I'll say it again.... this crowd has a very limited view of modesty.  They try to boil it down to the length of a skirt or covering a collarbone, and have forgotten the part about not trying to call attention to oneself and not flaunting your so-called virtues in order to gain praise.

Also, how does someone who thinks being a stay-at-home mom is the Most Important Job in the World have time to craft her face like that every day?  Shouldn't she be cleaning something or home-preschooling her kids? (I'm not knocking stay at home moms in general; I was one myself for eleven years.)

If Erin sent this picture to Chad, he would have no need to "steal" Erin's phone to post it.

I'm here a day/week/month short, but back to the Rodriguii kids and their 4 times a year special week... what happens if the other kids have "fun stuff" happen on their weeks, but on YOUR week, your mama goes into labor and gives birth to a brain damaged baby and mama and daddy have to spend all their time in the hospital with the new one?  Does that mean that your special week will consist of sitting in a hospital waiting room by yourself while mama and daddy are in the NICU?  What happens if you're sick during your special week?  It would suck seeing the other kids get to go out to eat, or get candy or toys, but during YOUR special week mama was giving speeches at a woman's retreat and daddy was busy printing tracts and you didn't want to print tracts and didn't want to listen to boring old women talk.

Spoiler

I was watching the Bates show last week and noticed Carlin and Josie do their eyeliner like that too. It actually looks nice on Carlin because she has dark eyes. I still think it's 10x better than the Duggar girls thick racoon eyes.

The only way stealing Erin's phone would make sense is if Chad still has an old school phone. She could have sent the pic to him and when he came home, used her phone to post it.

That makes sense.  He probably has the Flip Phone of Shame.

He is a Gothard male so they have "urges" that non Gothard males don't have.

Why do these Bates hang around with the Gothard clan anyway?  Have they not read?

1 Thessalonians 5:22 (KJV)

22 Abstain from all appearance of evil.

If you're not molesting girls, then don't hang around with those who do.  And before you go, call the police.

One lasting potential problem from pregnancy and childbirth is pelvic floor dysfunction.  You can get physical therapy for it and one of the medical devices one may be directed to use for treatment is a set of dilators. Dilators look like something you could buy at a sex shop but they are medical devices.  Some models come with a vibration feature. I don't think you need to have a prescription to get them -- you can order them on Amazon.

ITA.  I’m sure toys have prevented many an extramarital affair, as well as helping women who have difficulty reaching “the moment” or expiriencing pleasure.  Even otherwise well matched couples might have different appetites.  AFAIC, since I live in a state that is not a champion of women’s and LGBT rights~the last thing we need is the aggro, expense, and embarrassment /shaming of being made to get an Rx to put a smile on one’s face.  Pelvic floor problems are real.  In the old days, “hysteria” was the go to diagnosis for anything not understood by predominantly male doctors.

We probably should get back on topic.  Any word on JRods “Pamper Mama” spectacle?  I hate to snark under the circumstances because I feel really sad about the poor baby.  Jill is such a flaming narcissist that she makes it hard for me to have much sympathy for her for very long.  The person I feel sorriest for besides the baby is Nurie, who will probably starve herself to death ‘fasting”.

What is it they say in the news business, "never let a good tragedy go to waste"? I think Jill is applying that same concept to this pregnancy. If she doesn't capitalize now, it's back to dollar store makeup and Imposter perfumes.

No shame. JillR has no shame. She's giving birth to her 12th or 13th child. A child who may be born with special needs. And she is grifting for comforters, clothes and perfume. A shower for the zillionth child is ridiculous and asking for personal gifts is shameless. Seeing those pictures actually made me squirm in embarrassment for her.

Someone needs to donate to Planned Parenthood or GLAAD or PFLAG in her name.
