I wouldn’t say scorched earth since it’s the truth, something that has been discussed since day one, and one of reasons that has brought us together here.

I am surprised that these two actually participated in a parade and other public and publicity events the past few weeks( I’m trying to follow rules here.  How can they do this ?  Do they just truly  do  not understand what a true tragedy their family’s lives have become? 
 

well let me answer my own question about that.  These are the people who agreed to star  in tv specials and a reality show while their eldest son was off being disciplined for child molestation by  having his head shaved and working for a family friend.  They haven’t learned a thing.  
Their children need to totally disown their parents  so that the next generation has a chance in this world.

Yeah, THIS!  I'm dreading Christmas Eve (when my immediate family gets together - a divorced mother and father who don't like each other and LOVE to tell me what is wrong with me - like I don't know).  And who knows if my mother will even show up - she sold her car (probably a good move).. I asked if she needed a ride - ugh.. we don't get along but I live near her and she said "I'm not sure if I'm going".  REALLLYYYYY?? I was surprised when I read here they were in a parade as well.   It wasn't until your post that it finally percolated into my brain what they were up to.

As far as your question I think it would take an awful lot for JB to recognize the toothpaste ain't ever going back in the tube and their lives are permanently changed.   I'd imagine his world is liable to get much smaller in an effort to avoid coming into contact with people who might not receive him the way he wishes to be received.

The kids don't have to follow JB's lead and be so fragile. They need to come up with a line or two regarding Josh that they can throw out when needed. They should not own his 'errors'.

I'm not sure JB is able to do that, but the kids should be able to.

Just read the piece in another thread referencing JB impersonating the Judge/raising an objection and being called out by the Judge and told in no uncertain terms he has no right to do that.

It's actually very common during intense cross examination for witnesses to attempt to raise an objection, some do it multiple times before a halt is called and the Judge or one of the attorneys explains that objections come from the attorneys and must be according to court rules and rules of evidence.   Judges generally explain this fairly patiently, even with very difficult witnesses who are seriously evading questioning and prolonging proceedings. 

This Judge must have been seriously donezo with JB.  I would have paid good money to watch that giant donkey's maw clap shut in shock.

It's really sad, but perhaps the enormity of what was revealed will lead others besides Jill into dealing with their awful and stifling upbringing and not pass the same ignorance and abuse to their own kids. I'm breathing a sigh of relief.  My nephew (godchild) just emailed me back (when I asked what he REALLY wanted for Christmas - Money no issue - he told me).  My brother and sister-in law have raised 2 great kids.  He was so polite and nice - He's 16.  We need more of these kids who will grow up with good values.  (he didn't ask for much.  seems like NIKE is the thing- who knew?  lol)  Got him a NIKE gift card.  Sometimes you just want to know.

I would imagine it would be pretty hard to prove the felon's father lied about not remembering. The admonishment from the judge probably did more harm to JB's reputation, ego, and status than any jail time could.

I agree. Perjury charges are rare, especially in relation to the number of occasions when people are not truthful when testifying under oath. And as you said, "I don't recall" answers make a perjury case hard to prove. The judge handled it both in the courtroom and in his written order in which he found JB's testimony on those points to be not credible. Boom.

What was interesting to me about Jim Holt's accusation about perjury is that it was unconnected to Jim Bob's evasive "I don't recall" answers. It was regarding his testimony about whether or not women were considered clergy in the church. Jim Bob was claiming they were clergy, so Bobye couldn't testify due to that, and Holt was very unequivocal in stating that was a lie. I really don't think the law would probably pursue that for a charge, but it does seem like a straight-up lie based on what we know about their beliefs.

Oh yeah, Jim Holt did have his shorts in a knot about JB's lying about women's eligibility to be elders in the church at the relevant times. Sheesh. The judge in his order specifically found JB's testimony on the point to be "self-serving, contradictory, and lacking in credibility." I doubt the feds are going to chase JB down with a perjury charge over it. But it does give Holt a basis to go after JB for lying, which has been fun to watch. I suspect I'd like Jim Holt about as much as I'd like JB, which is not at all, but the fallout among the fundies sometimes provides some interesting online reading. Maybe there will be more, and if so, I'm here for it.

Perjury has a very specific definition.   A lot of people think its ANY lie told under oath.   I have soooooo many clients wanting to charge their ex with perjury because "they lied about X."   I say that's not going to happen.   They get all het up.   "Perjury is a crime, does no one care about lying."   I stop them with a "when was the last time you heard about someone going to jail for perjury?"   The looks on their faces when that realization hits.

Perjury is lying about a material fact at issue under oath.    A material fact is something that really matters to the case at hand.   Lying about whether someone was an elder in a church with regards to a CSAM is highly unlikely to meet that definition.   Can the judge find someone not credible based on it?   Sure.   The judge found Head Idiot not credible about a LOT of things.   But that doesn't meant it was perjury.

Nope.   Because whether she was an Elder or not, had NOTHING to do with whether or not Josh downloaded and viewed child porn.   Manipulating the court happens ALL the time.   You put in this piece of evidence, not that.   You ask that question in this way, not another question.    And Bobbye being a "spiritual counselor" just meant someone else -- like JILL -- could testify about Josh molesting his sisters.    It was dumb attempt at lying, but not perjury.

I have tried to understand people in this cluster of sects. We all read the Bible differently. I sometimes read the same text differently that I did a year before. That said, how can they possibly justify the lie that a woman can be a deacon or pastor in their churches. Can their be a Christian sect that justifies lying to manipulate? Also, I do not understand woman having no value. I understand placing different values on women than my fellow main line Christians. However, the Bible is clear that a woman is of great value. Have they not studied Proverbs 31? Surely they have. I don't get so many of the details of the faith Jim Bob professes.
