Olivia remains one-step ahead of her captures, but she won’t be able to keep it up for long. Jake, Huck and Quinn turn to an old friend for help and Fitz is pushed to the limit forcing Cyrus to take matters into his own hands.

Well, that was the stupidest thing I've seen in a long time and that's saying something when talking about television….and, whoever is writing for Huck (in particular) is just - well, I have no words.  The whole thing a load of stupid.

When she gave that idiotic speech about how the kidnappers didn't dream of this bla bla bla - I really hoped they would all just get up and leave the room and let her fill it with all the hot air.

Ugh.  Over an out - this was the first one I watched since the first few minutes of the episode when they first came back last month - and, this is the last.

I love a good bonkers awesome hot mess of a TV show as much as the next person, but this show has ceased to be the good kind of hot mess. Now, it's just a cringe-worthy mess, and I have second-hand embarrassment for everyone involved.

The show is trying so hard to be shocking, twisted, and crazy and sucking so hard at it.  I kept thinking Empire is much better than this show.  A thousand times better than this.  Cookie would never put up with this shit.

I just can't even deal with psycho killer 'he likes to cut people up ' Huck.  Same with Olivia's inspirational ' you didn't dream of being a human trafficer as a child' speech.

I was just sad when I realized that they are planning to make Mellie President so this nightmare will never end, even when Fitz is out of office.

The only thing I wanted to see was Abby find out that no one told her Olivia was kidnapped.  That's all I was looking forward to and a child abduction alert started, and drowned out all sound, the second the scene started and ended the second the scene was over.  I kid you not, the exact length of the scene..  I am not sitting through this again to see it.  I take it as a freaking sign.

I think I'm done.  I think the promo that the person that bought Olivia is some kind of mystery to be teased was the final nail in the coffin.

So, I guess the whole world no now that Olivia is Fitz's mistress? SMH.

They would have to in order to bid billions of dollars.  Actually, nothing makes that make sense.

I don't think it was Rowan that bought her.  I don't have any idea who it will be but they seem to be trying really hard for the shock factor and Rowan is not that.  I still doubt it will be worth how horrible this storyline has been thus far.  I half expect Fitz's kid to be alive, his death faked by mysterious person that bought Liv, so she can return the conquering hero.  That is the only way I expect this to be Rowan. However it turns out, I expect it would be a letdown if I had any anticipation at all.

When Andrew was talking about the deal being Olivia returned to the Prez unharmed, was he saying that he was only allowed to organize the kidnapping on the condition that Olivia was unharmed, rather than this being his leverage over Fitz.  If that is the case, then whoever allowed Andrew to take action bought Olivia.

This is amazing.  I feel like I'm watching an entirely new show.  And since it's no longer Scandal, it's actually really good!  Seriously.  It's this show about the most unlikeliest of bullshit.  So much angst and crazy people and black ladies selling themselves and people going to war for one woman.  It's like Drama Potluck.  And so great.  But it's damn sure not Scandal.

I for one would welcome a fastforward to our new Mellie overlord.

Even putting aside his whinging, philandering, murdering, daddy issues and so on and so forth, Fitz's problematic because he's wimpy and incompetent. One would think that President Mellie would be interesting in that she would be ruthless, smart, and not ruled by Li'l Mellie the way Fitz is ruled by Li'l Fitz.

It just hit me why this is so stupid.

No one could know that Olivia was Fitz's sidepiece to the point they had to hire someone to take over as Fitz side piece to protect Olivia.

But now she's selling herself as Fitz's concubine, and everyine is all. "yah, this totally makes sense."

So basically. the entire world knows that Fitz and Olivia are intimately connected (enough to buy her, screw you Shonda). so why can't Fitz just impeach himself or whatever and then they can go make freaking jam.

Also during the whole "you didn't dream this." I fully expected someone "Yah, but life killed the dream I dreamed. "

So, Jake, you know and have seen with your own eyes that Huck is batshit crazy, but when he tells you, "we have to take the heads to Gustavo", you just start sawing away at the first gory neck you see?  Ugh.  And where the heck did they deliver the heads?  Again, Ugh.

I thought "Gustavo" and Olivia's captor "Gus" were going to turn out to be the same sick guy.

Huck needs to fucking see someone now.  Just...how the HELL did he rip off someone's arm?  And all the blood and the crushed heads...  B13 ruined Huck, there's no way he should be anywhere near Javi.  I can't wait to see how this kidnapping arc ends.

favorite part of the show:

Who has more money than the United States?

China

United Arab Emirates

ok, fine... Moving on

HA! Yes, I loved that. Also enjoying how Mellie and Fitz seem to have arrived at a fairly healthy (within the world of this show) relationship. (Still confused by Mellie's having talked him out of not doing what the VP, etc were threatening him into doing - he could love Olivia and have it not all been for nothing without, oh, sending soldiers to a war he doesn't think is right and to die there for her, but other than that.)

Love Joe Morton in general, but SO RELIEVED to have a real break from His! Bloviating! Speeches! Every! Week! I like the case of the week format, but so far I'm doing fine with this change of pace now that we're seeing the rest of the ensemble. In retrospect I don't mind the solo-Olivia winter premier episode as much - it set things up effectively - but episodes evolving entirely around only one character (even the lead) of an ensemble show aren't my favorite to watch.

I can't even start/don't even care with Huck. It's so outlandish and sociopathic, so consistently, that I'm letting anything having to do with him go right by me. It's...just beyond. I do still like Quinn much more now than I did when she was normal but annoying in season one.

Yes, it's really bad.   And I seriously never need to see Huck on my screen again.   I never really cared for him to begin with but he's gotten just awful, both in his acting and what they're writing for him.  We get he's a psycho.  But Olivia is the only person who can make him "right?"  She must have supernatural powers.

And now, so that Fitz can rationalize going to war to get Olivia back, she's more than just his "sidepiece", she knows all about national security.  Ugh. The whole thing is ridiculous.

I agree with those that think Papa Pope bought her.  He's the only clown in this circus that hasn't shown up yet.

And I'll take Mellie as President over Fitz any day. At least she's not one dimensional.

Every show is pushing the limits (well, my limits at least) with all the torture and violence porn; it is so over the top and they are all competing as to who can cook up the most bloody, revolting way of torturing and murdering people.

I know the networks are doing their best to keep up with those limits/standards set by cable but, honestly, I'm just bored with it all.  With all the real life horrors going on the world, this stuff is  just too much in "entertainment."

In real life, certain factions are upping the sort of violence that can be inflicted on other humans and when we can manage to push that to the back of our minds (hard as that is to do), "entertainment" programs throws it all in our faces more and more - can't tell if they are trying to shock us or desensitize us with it all - but, I'm just over it.

This was an embarrassment and I do feel for the actors in this crap - this show was one thing when it started (and, annoying as it was in a lot of ways in the beginning, the camp factor kept me amused) and now they are sunk down in the depths of stupid and insulting.  Well, at least, they are getting paid.

Yeah, it seemed to me that several of them are just phoning it in at this point. Apparently they realize how pathetic it's gotten but it's a high profile show so they might as well hang in as long as they're still cashing the paychecks. I really don't see how Scandal can go another season but ABC is probably willing to let it continue as long as the ratings hold up.

Mellie as president, sounds like a good idea

Mellie is just as compromised as Fitz is. I don't see why she should get to be president just because she knows where all the bodies are buried and has put up with all Fitz' crap so she somehow "deserves" it. Fitz and his entire entourage need to be dropped into a volcano, IMO.

This show is now basically the late night version of the daytime soap, "Passions".

If this show had a witch with a doll that comes to life, then it would be infinitely more interesting than this garbage that Shonda is throwing at us.

Seriously, Shonda. Casual beheadings? Considering the stuff going on in the REAL political landscape, you have seriously crossed the line into BAD taste. I actually shut my eyes when Jake reached for one dead guy's head.

THIS. But I have a feeling that our break will be over very soon.

So ridiculously over the top. This show has jumped the shark

It hasn't just jumped it. It beheaded and dismembered the fucking shark.

I'd be all for watching a show with Mellie as President, with Jake and Cyrus on staff. Appoint Mellie as VP, and have DouchyFitz (WORST President EVER), who started a war over his personal slam piece, resign and go off to fucking Vermont and make fucking jam with fucking Olivia. Off screen.

I don't mean to imply that Mellie would be more honorable than Fitz. Obviously, she has her host of moral issues. (Although to the best of my recollection, she has not murdered anyone.)

I just would trust Mellie to a) make better presidential decisions b) to actually want to be president either for the sake of power inherently or to actually achieve things and c) to be interesting viewing.

I'm wondering if the whole moral of this show is to show how man really are incompetent and that the women behind the scenes really know how to run things.

Last week, we saw Olivia plan to sell herself..  and Mellie made it possible for them to find out where Olivia had been stored.

This week, we have Mellie and Fitz finally reveal what they want most of all:  he wants Liv while she wants to be president.   In a perfect world, Mellie would have been president this whole time while Fitz could be behind the scenes since he isn't up to the job of president as we've seen for almost 4 seasons.

I also kind of miss the case of the week format, though I'd prefer if the case of the week were ongoing (i.e. not resolved in one episode).  Just some balance.

Gee, Olivia, who would have thought your plan to put yourself on auction would backfire? /sarcasm

God, you know everyone is acting like an asshole when Fitz -- FITZ -- was the only one kind enough to fill Abby in on what's going on.

In a perfect world, Mellie would have been president this whole time while Fitz could be behind the scenes since he isn't up to the job of president as we've seen for almost 4 seasons.

In a perfect world, Fitz never would have been elected president in the first place.  But yeah, I'd vote for Mellie because she'd at least get things done.

Huck as mastermind computer hacker is okay. Huck as violent hacker not so much.  Why didn't they use Maya's connections to get into the auction and then have Huck rig the bidding that way! Ugh!

And the guy who killed the main bad guy was so over the top in his anger that Liv had hit him in the head. I mean, I guess you have to be kinda crazy to be kidnapping her like that anyway, but come on. You were holding her against her will. She hit you with a toilet paper holder and you're angry? That makes no sense.

From the PreviouslyTV recap:

"In a strange scene, Fitz tells Cyrus that Mellie greets every plane that returns from the warfront with dead soldiers. And Fitz needs Olivia to be okay so that these soldiers' sacrifice means something."

I had forgotten about this.  Was Fitz serious? I'm sure the families of the lost soldiers will be just fine once they realize their husbands and sons were sacrificed for Olivia, and oh, it now means something. Every time I think Fitz can't be more of an a**, he proves me wrong.

Why does Mellie think that *anyone* would vote for a Presidential candidate who proved that unter pressure she goes into a drunken catatonic state for weeks?

Talking about aspirations for President, didn't Lizzie have some major ambitions for power just a few weeks ago? And now, under the first signs of problems, she what? Packs up her shit and prepares to fold in all kinds of ways? She was tougher than Cyrus when she was first introduced. The original Cyrus, not this wig-burdened facsimile. And talking about Cyrus, what the fuck has happened to him??? He changes from week to week! Please give us back the lovable bastard.

Huck going all American Psycho was the only thing that reminded me of Scandal this week. And I think that I only enjoyed it because it wasn't unbelieveable bullshit claptrap. Just think about that for a minute...

I am so sad that Scandal is so off rails right now. I mean, I loved the weekly soap opera that I could escape into the last few seasons, but this? Is just beyond.

For the people wondering how every terrorist knows about Olivia and Fitz-- whoever is in league with Andrew for the taking of Olivia plot in the first place, is a terrorist. This terrorist and Andrew wanted Olivia in order to control the President. So Ian lets other terrorist cells know what has gone down and that he now has the chick that turns the Presidents screws and who wants in on controlling a the President of the United States?

See how easy that was?

I'll drink my Cab and eat my popcorn all by myself.

I cheered so hard after Olivia tried to manipulate the kidnappers with that "white hat/you're better than this" bullshit speech - and dude basically replied "you don't know me, I'm here to GET MONEY, BITCH."

I'll take Poppa Pope's bloviating vs. Livvie's speechifying and affected quiver face.

And hellooo there, Kerry Washington's new nose.

All these people suck. Expect Mellie, and David.

So true. Last night I was avoiding some annoying chores, just sitting on the couch watching this irritating mess, feeling awful. Finally my husband said, "Just turn it off!" I did and immediately felt better.

Again with the fast paced, gaspy, breathy, staccato speak that almost every character uses? I bet the scripts are even written with random caps and pauses everywhere so people would be urged to speak in the most unnatural and aggravating ways possible:

This!...THIS! Is such and irriTATING way for PEOPLE! PEOPLE! to TALK! Every...week! EVERY...week! EVERY! WEEK! I...FEEL...so much...RAGE...ShonDA! MYBESTFRIEND! MY! BEST! FRIEND! my BEST friend! MY...ONLY...FRIEND! ONLY! FRIEND!

NO one...talks...like THIS! ShonDA!

Except all of Shonda's characters.
