When Ben and Ciara were being all lovey dovey in bed I took out the trash.  Can’t stand seeing people get poked in the eye so I used that time to finish my dishes. Thank you Days.  I needed that motivation today.

Well, technically, Ben was innocent of what they put him in prison for, so he shouldn't have a criminal history - he could explain that he had been wrongfully convicted and he should have that in writing.

He is guilty of one crime. The crime of stealing our hearts.

He ran in to the wrong end of my stiletto. Anna must have really good shoes with a metal heel or she really lucked out in whacking out the eye. Surely there is another bionic eye to take its place.

Dunno if I believe Kristen's redemption and her seeing her 'father' for who he really is. Really? Maybe it is part of the scheme to get Brady back. And ZombieChad was rather entertaining. Abs, repeating 'famiglia' is going to keep him in the land of the stumbling dead.

Felt sorry for Justin loving Kayla knowing that he will eventually lose her to Steve, when he comes back from the chip. Hope Kayla makes him earn his place in her life.

I do buy Ben's redemption a bit more than Kristen. He talked openly about having to look for a job and make a life for himself and live with what he did. Small steps. And he still faces medication for the rest of his life and mental health challenges. No, Ciara, Grandpa Vic will probably not hire him. He may have to work at a restaurant or something like it and earn respect and trust, maybe doing part time study etc. Roman has an opening at the pub, so maybe he can wait tables there for a while.

Kayla will forgive Steve like Jen did Jack then it’s back burner ville.

Which sux because I actually give a damn about both ships and each have chemistry.

Sorry I don’t buy Ben’s redemption. I am a cold Virgo sun and Gemini moon so you know I’m critical bitch.

If Ben can be hand waved for serial killing cuz mental illness then the entire everyone needs to shut the fuck up about a lot of others. I hate that cherry picked shit like Ciara and Ben acted like Claire was the Anti Christ because she was crazy and targeted them... and Jordan... but they think because he was beat around he had a pass to kill multiple people? Jordan was raped as a child and hit for years. Claire was legit breaking down to the point she tried to burn herself alive and didn’t actually kill anyone. She was deranged and wrong but that Show made her worse than Ben and more punishment is ludicrous

let’s keep in mind Ben said to Clyde regarding his parenting “you tried your best.” The man who beat the shit out of him according to canon, his pregnant mother, and raped his 13 yr old sister. In what fcking world would that be considered a father? And he’s a raging homophobe.

I know a lot of havoc has been wrought by Stevano. But...it's not like STEVE was doing it. And as for his deserting Kayla before, she did - for good intentions, but still - kept news about Steve's vision and her deal with Stefan. I could see him feeling upset.

The fact that he stayed away was sort of unavoidable since Stephen Nichols was gone.

Long way of saying, I don't know why Steve would have to earn forgiveness in this case.

But I admit to extreme bias as Justin/Kayla bored the ever-loving shit out of me. Or did until I stopped watching.

With the real-life issues with Judi Evans, I'm not sure if her Bonnie will pop back up and complicate things with Justin. So I do wonder what the future holds for him, unless he just goes back to occasional appearances (as he also has a role on GH, so at least Wally Kurth would be okay).

My heart just broke for Deidre, who doesn't have the figure she used to, having to dress in some kind of sexy bedroom wear for a rape scene...I mean they didn't even think to give her a nice big showy necklace for her decolletage, and Lord knows the poor woman needed one. I don't even think they put makeup below her neck. When you have aging skin, and you're appearing on camera, makeup and wardrobe choices are key to maintaining your dignity.

I'm just catching up with the episodes, and, man, you weren't kidding about DH. They had been doing an okay job with the makeup around her chest area but for the bedroom scenes they failed her completely. It was also pretty obvious when she was holding the gun on John. I mean, DH looks good for her age, but there are certain things that really can't be hidden.

I know I'm behind, but I have to say I was literally laughing out loud when John and Steveano were rolling around "fighting". I just couldn't believe these late-60's guys were throwing each other around and not one broke a hip. I'm all for giving the older actors something to do and keeping them front and center, but a fight scene is not it.

I really can't stand Kristen and her constant crying about her dead baby. Why does she bring up her baby every damn chance she gets? I will never feel sorry for her or root for her. And Brady is a stupid oaf for being with her.

ETA: I don't remember what Anna was like 'back in the day', but from what I've seen these last few episodes, she's a hoot! But why is she walking around with both stilettos in hand?? LOL. She clobbered Steveano hours ago (in DOOL time), shouldn't she put her shoes back on? Especially when walking around a germ-filled hospital?

Poor Justin. The way Kayla ran to Steveano as he was wheeled in on the stretcher...the writing is on the wall, Justin. Kayla didn't even look back at him or excuse herself; she just got up and ran to Steve. Ouch.

You have to admire suddenly-not-mind-controlled Marlena for diplomatically saying "let's take it a day at a time..." in response to his "she's really changed this time!" comment. Brady choosing Kristen's vadge over Marlena's personal comfort and safety is a huge slap in the face to the woman who raised him.

Who knocks people out with the plastic pointy heel on a stiletto? That shouldn't work.

This is some weak-ass brainwashing if all it takes to undo it is someone saying "I love you" twenty times.

OMG - I am seething after that Kristen monologue. No Ron! She never tried to be Stefano's favorite. She never devoted her life to proving her worth to him or worshipped him.  What The Flipping Frack?!!?

Remember THIS:

DO! YOUR! RESEARCH!

And don't push this BS that suddenly Kristen is "seeing" her father as a bad guy. He DROVE HER MOTHER INSANE. He tried to behead John back when Kristen loved him.

....I just can't. 😠😠😠😠

Let us not forget that Stefano's masterplan was for Tony to wed Kristen.and for Peter to wed Megan . Hence why he took Both Peter and Kristen in  when they were young .Stefano wanted to merge the Blake wealth with the DiMera wealth. Afterall, Peter and Kristen's dad was a wealthy man and Stefano 's buddy.

So not only is she making it all. About. Her. (as usual) it's not even an accurate read on the character's history? Grrreaat.

This episode was extremely padded; so many lines just repeated over and over. Did they have time to fill?

Killer heels, Anna.

Usually when they do their one-off episodes there is an element of fun to them.  This whole April Fools thing seemed to fall REALLY flat for me.

That was one weird show but I did appreciate how wonderfully over the top the Leo, Will and Sonny scenes were.  Everything else kind of fell flat, especially the Ben, Ciara, Clyde scenes--I could easily see Ben and Ciara killing someone and deciding to go on the lam together--that would happen without April Fool's.

Truth be told all jokes aside I wouldn't hate a Lucas and Nicole repairing. EJ was too dark, Eris is too saintly. I think 40's something's Lucas and Nicole are a nice fit.

I still say that after Nicole returned to Salem back in 2008 , they should have paired her with Lucas . that would have spared us from that horrific LUCAS/Chloe Pairing . I mean why not ? after walking in on  EJ and Sami's post coital bliss , Lucas could have easily had his own sleazy revenge on sami by doing the nasty with Nicole in that elavator . why not ? Nicole was a former pornstar and  a shamless goldigger plus Lucas was a regular customer of Echelon ,Victor's sleazy gentleman's club which was in a reality an escort business/brothel . victor even sold this business to Andre Dimera while he was still impersonating Tony. With such a sexual history,I can see them being kinky enough to get it on inside an elavator .Hell , they used to be married and during Chloe and Nicole's catfight at the Brady pub , Nicole chimed in with her own two cents and actually taunted Sami about Lucas's prowess in bed and how he constantly wanted to sex Nicole during their sham marriege  .plus Sami and Nicole were both massive enemies at that point and it would have driven sami crazy. I wish they had paired Nicole and Lucas back then .

NOT!!

That baby was adorable!

That thing on Lani's head, not so much.

Dr. Dan still looks like he needs a good shower. With soap!

Leo was the best part of the show, which is not high praise.

Thanks all for the post alerting me to an April Fool's joke by DOOL.  Press conferences on COVID-19 in my area meant the soaps were not aired/or cut off for me today. And for some reason, they always air these press conferences right around the time the soaps go on air!

One last thing:  ITA to whatever the heck that was on Lani's head. She looked more ridiculous than when she was wearing the nun's habit.

What the hell is Lani wearing on her head?

Love Leo's suit.

Did Daniel know about Holly?

Nicole just had that dress hanging in her closet?

Drag Queen bingo?  LOL

"Do you want to wind up in a rug again?"

OK, that twist was funny.

I know it's phony, but why would Eric be so willing to take Nicole back after she dumped him for Daniel without a second thought?

I don't think so.  I know they were together as a couple when he left the show but I don't know what their current situation is.  Neither of their wiki pages says they're married.  Or, for that matter, any longer married to anyone else either.

Leo's suit was lively and worth watching for.

Baby was pretty cute for a baby.  But making the baby Abe's was a bit of a letdown.  Implying she was Eli's or Dan's was the right tone for a silly show but having her be Abe's was just a touch too plausible.

How did they manage to do an April's Fool's ep that actually aired on April 1, when there have been so many pre-emptions in the last few months?

All of the pre-empted shows were available that day OnDemand or on the NBC app, which allowed them to stay on schedule.

She was a lot like this actually but back then more grounded and darker. She's more comic relief at this point.

She and Calliope her BFF were a fun and wacky friendship.

Yeah Anna was very much the "Sami" of the show.

I've always been annoyed that they never explored the dynamic that Sami and Anna were so much alike juxtaposed to Carrie and Marlena being alike.

For all the "Mommy angst" Sami had, Carrie could of given her a run for her money if the show was ever interested in exploring Carrie as an individual character.

When Anna returned to Salem during the Brady/Dimera war storyline I thought for sure they would develop a relationship between Sami and Anna.

That's too character driven and grounded for this show they rather have Marlena be a damsel in distress and Sami tormenting Carrie and her being an eternal victim rather than a potentially complex heroine.

Sure those had some good stories but your scenario would've been so much better.

Was Lani wearing a satin bed hat so her hair didn't get wrecked from the pillow case?

No one calls before they show up? None of these apartments have buzzers? Someone just lets random people in to the building?

Leo's suit was fun. The baby brokering, not so much. How much more fun it would have been for the baby to be Eli's. Abe was just too possible.

Why did Daniel wait all this time to show up. And he married Sheila? Nonsense.

Hell yeah ! sami bonding with Anna and Carrie being bff with Marlena. now that would have been interesting .

I also would have liked to see Jeremy Horton and Sami being long term pals too . They were pals briefly when they both discussed Carrie dumping Jeremy's dad,Mike Horton , for Austin and they both had that whole disdain for Carrie vibe going on . alas,we only got them hanging out for about two episodes.

Yea, that's what hurt this ep imo. They needed to go much further for it to really feel April Fools like because of how much of a joke the regular show is.

Absolutely! The baby was easily the best part of the ep. Well, her and the Will/Sonny/Leo scenes.

I ended up skipping most of the scenes that weren't Will/Sonny/Leo because they were super boring.

I figured the headscarf on Lani was because they realized her wig is real bad lol.

Man oh man, but what exactly is the point of Lani and Eli's continued existence?  They are beyond boring and now that they don't have Gabi around to blame their problems on, what are they going to do?   I guess Gabi's redemption is starting and she looks gorgeous while being apologetic to Eli.  And I love how Eli is decidedly unhappy with continuing to live in JJ's apartment while Lani is perfectly happy to live off his kindness--what a prize she is.

I did like how Sarah's smile dimmed slightly when Kristen walked up to her--Brady may be convinced she's changed, but no one else is.

Poor Dr. Rolf, so worried about Steveano's health--he really is a loyal henchman 🙂

Calliope and Eugene - ah yes, good times. The one and only scene I can vividly recall was when Eugene & Calliope were seated at a table in some restaurant and were having a momentous moment but the music was a little loud, so Calliope yells out to the room in general to shut up!  LOL!!!

The baby "brokering" ring made me think of the frightening Rose DeVille on Y&R all those years ago, so I watched a couple scenes of her and Nina.  That was my favorite part of today's episode.

Man oh man, that whole storyline was scary because it felt so real. If memory recalls, the actress who played Rose went on to play Sally Spectra on the Bold and the Beautiful.

P.S. I just have to get this off my chest: even though the show did build it, I never for one second saw Nina and Phillip fall in love. For me, it seemed like Nina's main attraction to Phillip was *still* his social status (and maybe physical appearance). And as for Phillip? I felt like he had to "settle" for Nina because Cricket moved on. Don't get me wrong, I'm glad the show presented it that the "golden girl" doesn't always win out in the end, but the way it was portrayed, IMO, seemed like it wasn't an organic thing. [The only Cricket 'ship I was ever on board for was Cricket & Danny, and well, they totally screwed that one!]

Many actresses with exceptionally curly hair or hair considered "harder" to manage (whether that's a fair assumption or not) wear wigs.  It can reduce styling time and it can help with consistency.  I believe curly hair can have more variety from day to day and it's hard to recreate the same look every day.  So if a single day is supposed to stretch out over multiple episodes or scenes and ends up being filmed on multiple days, a wig helps maintain that consistent look over those days.  Julia Louis Dreyfuss used to wear one on Veep.

Soaps usually aren't that picky, though.  I think we've all experienced watching a DOOL episode that's supposed to take place during the same day as a previous episode but the actor seemingly gets a haircut mid scene.

I think Sal wears her hair natural in real life and I assume the show does not want her to have that look since Valerie wears hers that way.  So Lani has to wear that awful wig. Can't the show afford a decent wig? A nice lace front wig would be really good on her.  It would be realistic for Lani to wear her hair natural and change it up by wearing wigs, getting braids and hair pieces on occasion. Plenty of sisters do that in real life but I don't think the show is ready for that..
