Idgi :( what are you suggesting? What are we supposed to notice?

Am not suggesting anything. I posted these images so it will be easy for others to refer to when discussing their predictions and thoughts VS what happens.

Anyway, the hair color + the color of the shirt (or uniform) + the body type are good clues. 😉

5:30(ish) on Sunday, and I'm wishing it would be 9pm already so I can just get this season over with.  I don't know if I'm in the "hate watch" category, but close to it with this season.  I just feel I've sunk enough time into this season that I am forcing myself to watch the last episode.  Maybe TWL will surprise me with an amazing episode that makes the previous 7 worth my time.  But I'm not holding my breath...

Victoria's family really started to grow on me in the last few episodes.

For fans of Natasha Rothwell, you might also want to see How To Die Alone, a series she created and starred in.  She is amazing both here in white lotus and on her own show.

Omg, I watched and enjoyed that show but only just now put together that she was the same actor in both!

Wow, so Belinda turns out just as much of a hypocrite as Tanya, stringing someone along. A little money in her pocket and look at how quickly her "dream" went out the window. Poor Pornchai. I'm sure she'll be one of the rich guests.

Everyone who clocked Jim being Rick's father was right. What I didn't expect was him to be the one to go on the rampage.. thought for sure it would be Tim. Chelsea was right about their souls being forever intertwined, just not in the way she thought. Dark.

At least Lochlan didn't ingest enough of the seed residue to die. I think the Ratliffs grew on me, too. Still, I think Lochlan and Piper would've been better off at the monastery. Bland food and a cramped room beats watching your dad lose everything.

And I guess Mook likes Gaitok again now that he's shown he's capable of killing someone.

I had actually seen a picture of the Ratliff kids on the boat with Saxon reading that book so I strongly suspected none of them would die. Lots of Instagram sleuths out there.

I knew Rick and CHelsea would die and frankly, I wished Rick would. Talk about a complete idiot. Don’t waste your life on a guy like this. Chelsea literally wasted her life.

FWIW, I always had an off vibe about Belinda. Her blowing off Rachel in S1 never sat right with me. Not surprised that once she got the bag, she became Tanya.

I ended up liking Tim, Victoria, and the kids. They're not perfect, but you do believe they're a family that loves each other. I'm glad they all survived.

Poor Chelsea. She was too pure for the world.

My girl Chelsea :-( Stupid Rick.

YMMV, but I was glad the blonde blob ended on a positive note. Old Longtime friends are so important and you can have knock-down, drag-out fights with them and then make up the next day. You're like sisters in that way.

Did not care for Belinda's heel turn this episode or her listening to her dumbass son. Like girl, young people are idiots (myself included at that age), so why the fuck are you getting advice from him about how to handle a murderer who knows that you know he's a murderer? They were both in over their heads and were lucky they didn't end up dead.

Hopefully this'll be the last we see of GregGary.

Well shoot. I was rooting for Rick and Chelsea, although she was strongly foreshadowed to die.

They got me with Lochlan--the article I posted with the actor said he left the island but then I thought it was a complete fakeout. I guess him puking it up got it out of his system? That seemed like a lot of seeds--I guess enough to make him "see God" but not enough to stick around with the big guy....

Total body count is 5, right? Chelsea, Rick, 2 bodyguards,, and Jim?

I kind of liked the way the Greg story played out, and I knew Belinda was going to get that money-- didn't think she was going to turn into Tanya 2.0 tho'...am I the only one who thought her boat was going to blow up as they were heading out? Greg does like to arrange boat deaths....

I know a lot of people thought this was a slow season--I enjoyed it!

Bring on season 4!

I thought the shots of Lochy in the water were stunning and almost made this season worth it.  I'm glad he lived.  I'm disappointed we didn't find out that Victoria didn't have hidden money.

At the same time, I had to shake my head at Lochy making a smoothie without even rinsing the blender.

I love the cynicism of Belinda's choice.  I wouldn't mind seeing her again. I don't ever want to see Zion.

I am not happy Gary is left unscathed.

But if he got caught, then who is going to pay for Jon Gries's next vacation? I'm not surprised he got away. I think this is going to be a thread that will be strung out through all seasons of The White Lotus until he's the last murder.

They only worked because she was too much of an airhead who liked the fact what he gave off dark, mysterious vibes and had convinced herself they were soulmates. Meanwhile he was too in his own head to bother.

The three friends ended on a wholesome note. I loved that. Still feel like a lot of their bickering could've been condensed.

Zion was so annoying, that uber cocky 'I'm an expert negotiator because I study business trust me bro' young man thing going on.. frankly was surprised they pulled it off at all. I'm definitely ready for a new villain than Greg/Gary.

If we're supposed to be seeing Belinda as this season's Tanya, I think the show did a poor job of setting that up.  There was one conversation - and barely a conversation, more like 1-2 lines - of the possibility of Belinda and Pornchai going into business together.  Pornchai made one comment, and Belinda barely even gave a response.  In Season 1, Tanya and Belinda had actual plans.  Tanya was an active participant in that discussion and was encouraging Belinda.  So I see where they tried to go with this, but it didn't work for me.

This sounds horrible, but I wish Lochlan died.  What I was really expecting was for him to die, then when Tim finally got his phone he'd get a message from his lawyer that a deal was made, Tim would lose significant money but not be ruined, so all his worrying and suicide/familicide plans were for naught.  I felt the whole "we're a family, we'll get through this together" bit on the boat was really lame.  They don't seem to like each other much, let alone have each others backs when the going gets tough.

Oh, yippee.  Gaitok shot someone in the back, he's now a driver/bodyguard, and Mook has her "assertive" man.  Even though he's too chicken shit to expose the Russians as robbers.  Oh, boo hoo.  They'll be deported back to Russia.   This whole plot line was a big yawn.

The only plot that actually surprised me was the 3 women all ending up in a good place after this week.  Laurie's revelation actually surprised me.  I was certain she was going to tell the other two off, call them shallow, etc., and walk away.

And Gary lives, along with his $495 million.

Well, it was 8 episodes of pretty scenery, nice clothes, and some interesting discussion here.  I guess that's something.

A few scattered thoughts on this season:

- I guess we just have to fanwank that Lochlyn didn't need medical attention, and the family was dumb enough to think, "Hmm, maybe the coconut milk was bad after all? Whatevs!", and nothing clicked even after they found out that Tim knew his life was falling apart.

- The three friends storyline was probably the weakest on any of the three seasons, in my opinion. Laurie's had her friends' ugliest qualities rubbed in her face all vacation long, but she nonetheless has this realization that time and friendship are the only thing that matters? That didn't match what we've seen of her personality at all.  It would have made more sense if she had that reaction after they survived a shootout together.

- The extra episode this season was a bad idea. So much was dragged out unnecessarily - multiple episodes of Chelsea wanting Rick not to go on the trip, endless shots of Tim being anxious and stoned, and the friends talking shit about each other over and over.

- Parker Posey was absolutely hilarious. When Piper talked about being unhappy at the meditation center, Victoria looked like she was having an orgasm.

- I think it was a mistake to show Lochlyn staring at his brother's ass multiple times (in one case with an aroused look in his eyes). It would make the "he lacks an identity and he's a people pleaser" explanation for the handjob a lot easier to believe.

- Jim knew Rick was his son, and decided that the way to handle the situation was to tell him that his mother was a slut? He got exactly what he deserved, and Rick getting killed served his dumb ass right, too. It's just a shame that Chelsea was collateral damage. She was pretty dumb in her own right, but she didn't deserve to die.

- Why, oh why, did they make such a big deal about Fabian singing?

I loved the parallel they drew but I don’t think that Belinda was anywhere as bad as Tanya. Belinda was hesitant to even entertain the idea of starting a business and it had only come up once.

Why wouldn't she? Why would he care? He's got plenty of money, and he bought off his only problem.

Yeah. Really all Belinda could do was tell the police where to find him and he can easily move to a different place if he gets concerned. She was only an immediate threat.  Now if he was smart he’d be more concerned about Chloe.

The hell was that?

1) So you change your mind about feeding your family poisoned smoothies and toss them out but don't clean out the blender?

2) Who makes a smoothie in a clearly dirty blender that they know has been sitting out overnight and supposedly has bad milk in it?  If the seeds hadn't been in there, Lochlon probably would have died from food poisoning!

3) The son you never knew you had shows up, clearly upset and thinking you're a murderer, and you don't clear that up????  You just call his mother a slut and continue on with your breakfast?

4)  What was wrong with Rick's mother?  On her deathbed she makes up a crazy story and just lies to her kid?

5) If you're going to start killing people and get yourself involved in a shootout, maybe you don't grab your girlfriend's hand and drag her with you.

6) I am beyond disappointed by Belinda and Gaitok.  Shame on both of them.

7) Gary/Greg gets away scot-free???????????????

I actually liked most of this season but that ending?  🤮

I think they benefited a lot from the fact that so many of the characters this season had absolutely no redeeming qualities and were quite boring to watch.  I couldn't have cared less about the three bickering women, or Gary, and Gaitok was a character I would have liked if I thought there was any possibility of his leaving the security job and finding something he would enjoy in customer service and most importantly dumping the gold digging Mook.  But his predictable arc of being promoted to a job that isn't right for him combined with getting the awful girl was quite uninspiring.

Tim's speech where he talked about his role as a protector of the family was particularly poignant.

Victoria showed herself to be quite clever at times, especially figuring out how to keep her baby from joining a cult in china.  She also had a lot of great one liners, although she wasn't ever actually trying to be funny.    In my mind, she hires a ghost writer who writes a hysterical autobiography of her life and it winds up being a bestselling book describing the life of a woman who had everything and lost it all when her husband committed a crime.

What worked for me:

- the tragedy that is Rick and Chelsea, two self destructive people who both foolishly thought they were on some kind of hero's journey (him to avenge his father, her to love and "save" Rick).  Extra poignant that Chelsea and Saxon had a genuine moment of connection and depth ... but she immediately ran off the moment she saw Rick, and Saxon, hurt, went back to his protective jerk persona. And that Rick only really seemed to realize he loved Chelsea when it was too late.

- the three blonde friends.  As pointless as their drama ended up being ... well, that was kind of the point: none of it mattered, they're connected for life and even if Laurie is disappointed with her own life and envious she still loves them and is happy for them.

- the Ratliff family.  I was seriously anxious, hoping Tim would stop at the last minute, and thank goodness he did (and that Lachlan barfed it all up instead of dying).  They are going to have to face reality together now, instead of hiding behind money.

What kinda worked:  Gaitok's journey.  It's sad he ultimately betrayed his beliefs, I think, but it works as a plot line.  Showing him all smiles at the end and seemingly unconflicted?  Eh.

What didn't work:

- Zion is an idiot and Belinda is nuts for letting her son negotiate a payoff with a murderer.  Damn, Belinda really turned out to have no morals at all.  She took the blood money AND left Pornchai high and dry.

I'm not sure why some are saying Belinda did to that guy what Tanya did to her. Admittedly this season dragged so much and I was bored out of mind for most of the episodes, so it's entirely possible I missed some important scenes but I don't think these two situations are remotely similar.

With the Tanya and Belinda situation, Tanya initiated the conversation to Belinda about opening up her own spa, kept pusing the idea on her and insisting she'd be happy to invest in it. Belinda didn't take her seriously and wisely realized she was probably full of shit.

But because Tanya wouldn't let it go, she eventually believed her, only for Tanya to turn around, after Belinda had drawn up a whole business plan to say, "yeah, my bad. But here's some cash so I don't feel too bad about flaking out on you..."

Regarding Belinda and guy whose name I don't even remember because that's how little I cared, all I remember is her simply sharing her plans to him of hoping to one day open up her own spa. Nowhere in that conversation did she suggest "we." And frankly, I thought it was incredibly presumptious, pushy and a little creepy when the guy brought up their doing it together the next time he saw her.

And it was clear Belinda was wary of that idea and that was well before she had any plans of getting any money from Gary. She just met the dude, and they hooked up once. Why would she tie her life's plan to him?

Other quick thoughts - Mike White is clearly developing a trend of strong premiere and finale, while the in between sucks. He needs to work on the in between because the journey to getting to the end is getting harder and harder each season.

I ended the season still not really caring about any of these people and the fact that I barely remember most of their names says it all. I was amused that the rich mother predicted it perfectly that one night would be enough to get the daughter over her bullshit. Shocker, the rich priviledged little girl couldn't hack the real thing after talking up a good game.

I'll say she became the protypical Gen Z’er that's on TikTok bleating on about how progressive they are and burn it all down while they enjoy the very privileged life they pretend to rage against. So well played there Mike White.

Outside of that, yeah didn't care about any of these people. And frankly I feel evil for saying it, but British girl deserved to die for her stupidity because I never saw or understood this great love she kept bleating on about having with Rick.

Rick spent the whole time surly and miserable but she woudln't get a clue. When the man caused her to be bitten by a snake, that should have been her sign, since she was all about that kind of stuff, to move the fuck on. And yeah the guy being Rick's dad was a giant, "yeah, no shit, we all saw that coming!"

I have a question before I post other thoughts:  When Belinda told Zion she got the money and talked to Gary, she said Gary asked her if she would honor their deal.  And Zion said, "and what did you say?" And she said, "I told him no," and laughs hysterically.  So she was being sarcastic?  Did I hear that right?  It made not a lot of sense.

Edited by Alexander Pope

She did it!  At long last, Victoria figured out that they were in Thailand after-all!  She even said it twice!  I'm so proud of her!  Between that and her hilariously gleeful reaction to Piper breaking down over the idea of living at the monastery, she certainly made sure to go out on a high, delightfully irritate note.  I will miss her, her reaction shots, and every crazy line that comes out of her mouth.

Got me there with Lochlan for a bit.  I really did think that he was a goner, since there would be some poetic irony over Tim killing the one family member he actually wanted to spare (before he changed his entire mind about every.)  But I guess you have to really ingest a lot of the fruit to actually die from it.  Either way, the Ratliff family are all still in one piece (and none the wiser, I guess?  Kind of didn't explain any of that), but I can only imagine what the reaction will be once they realize Tim is possibly going to jail and they may have lost everything.  It did look like Saxon was already suspicious about what his dad was blabbering on about.

Instead, the main victims where none other than Rick and poor Chelsea!  Despite everything, Rick just could not change his ways.  Jim returns to to the hotel, insults him and his mother, and flashes a piece, so at the opportune moment, Rick has his revenge and murders Jim with his own gun.  He then has a shoot-out with the bodyguards, where Chelsea is caught in the crossfire.  Rick then follows her by getting shot in the back, but he likely was dead inside already.  A fitting, if tragic end for both of the characters.  Rick was probably always destined to let his anger get the better of him, and Chelsea's need to always stick by his side was likely always going to be her downfall.  And, of course, Jim was Rick's father after-all, but judging from the way he was acting, I don't think Rick missed much by not having him in his life.  If only he knew.

Oh, and Rick's killer was none other than Gaitok, as the show surprises me by not having him fuck that part up, and he successfully takes Rick out.  And that seems to impress Mook, because of course it does.  He's now Sritala's new bodyguard, but I'm guessing he's going to let Valentin get away scot-free?  I guess he fell for his sob story about getting deported and whatnot.

Damn, Belinda got the money and Tanya-ed poor Pornchai!  Okay, too be fair, I think some of it was her fear of Greg retaliating and her just wanting to get Zion and herself to safety, but that was still pretty cold.  I was honestly surprised it worked out, because it felt like Zion was really overplaying things with his "business man" cred.  But, I guess Greg felt it was better to just pay them off.  Make sense, since he certainly seems content with his $495 million and sitting in his chair like some kind of Bond villain, while Chloe sets up another potential cuckhold fetish for him.  That man cannot be stopped, apparently!  Will not be surprised if he keeps popping up each season.

Best friend group actually kind of gets a happy ending, even if I still feel like Laurie's selling herself short in a lot of ways.  Plus, I imagine Kate and Jaclyn will never not be the gossiping mean girls that they are.  But, I guess it's still a win, more or less?  They all also seemed remarkable chill at the end, despite being front and center during the shoot-out.  This will definitely be a vacation they will remember!

Fabian just getting dunked into the water during the shoot-out was an unexpected comedic moment in a tense situation.

And, so ends another season of The White Lotus.  I definitely understand the flaws and criticisms, as I do feel like al ot of the characters never took off compared to previous seasons (in particular, the staff side was really lacking.  No Armond or Isabella to keep me invested), a few of the stories were underwhelming or overstayed their welcome (couldn't get into Belinda's arc once Greg got involved, and Rick's stuff dragged out and was pretty predictable), and while Thailand was gorgeous as expected, I didn't feel like the location was taken advantage of as much as, say, Italy was last season.  Acting was generally strong though, although, surprisingly, I felt like this was one of Walton Goggins' more underwhelming roles.  Not bad or anything, but he was kind of overshadowed a lot, which I'm not use to.  But I really enjoyed Aimee Lou Wood, the three actresses playing the best friends, and Parker Posey pretty much stole every scene she was in.  Biggest surprise was Patrick Schwarzenegger, who end up delivering on some standout moments.  He might be in the shadow of his father in some ways, but I can see him having a bright future for sure.

All that being said, I still had a fun time and I can't wait to see what insanity Mike White comes up with next.  I'm down with the speculation/wish of maybe being set in the mountains somewhere next time, because a season in a colder location could be fun.  Personally, I'm pulling for something like the Scandinavian Mountains, because I want the next resort to be family-owned and all of the employees are played by all of the Skarsgards!

Any bets on future famous folks or familiar faces to appear in the future?  The first thought that pops into my head is that I feel like Jon Hamm is destined to show up on this show someday.  Also still wanting someone from Succession to crash the party.  Hell, just make it a crossover!  The poor White Lotus staff having to deal with Roman or Kendall's bullshit.  Or Frank and Karl can show up, retired and just enjoying not having to be at Waystar Royco anymore!  A pipe dream, I know....

It's not that she made the same offer to Pornchai that Tonya made to her. It's that when she was telling Pornchai that she was no longer interested in opening a spa together, it was reminiscent of the scene where Tonya said that to her.

Belinda was being awkward much in the same way that Tonya was, standing there and stammering while Pornchai pretended he was't hurt. It had to have been a deliberate parallel on Mike White's part.

What makes Belinda shitty, IMO, isn't that she did anything terrible to Pornchai. It's her hypocrisy in that once she got some money, everything she said about how important the spa was to her went out the window. Her opening the spa was supposed to be the one good thing to come out of Tonya's death (and a way of honoring Tonya). And now we're left to wonder if she even cares about it at all.

Belinda was not stringing anyone along.  Her circumstances changed and she changed her mind about potentially going into business with someone she knew all of what, six days?  They had discussed it, but that was all.

I would love to be on that plane ride home with the Ratliffs.  I can't even imagine the conversations they are going to be having about what dad did, and how their lives are going to change.  Part of me would laugh if next season we saw Victoria working the front desk at whatever White Lotus they delve into next season.

I really did enjoy Carrie c****'s speech to the other women.  There is something about people who have known you your whole life, even with all anger and bad feelings, you can still love them.  (And yes, I know that doesn't work for everyone.)

Glad that’s over.

I figured Chelsea was a goner, so no surprise that she and her soulmate checked out.

Disappointed I didn’t get to hear, Rick, I am your father. And that he and his wife didn’t go, whoa, Sonny. Although based on his comments about his first wife, Rick’s dad was an asshole—pissed that his kid had put him on the floor. So bad tempered runs in the fam.

Belinda! Ha. Your son’s a douche, “MBA, bro” 🤮

And our Buddhist guard shot a man in the back and killed him dead. Got promoted. Got the girl. Well, who knows what his prayers were.

When Laurie said, "I'm just happy to be at the table," my heart broke a little bit.  It was like she just gave in and stopped fighting them and their fucked up values, and their patronizing attitude toward her, because she realized she had no values either and they were all she had.

We already knew Gaitok was a good shot, but I didn't know Rick was.  Was he a hitman in an earlier life?

I assumed that he and Frank were hitmen in this life, and that's where they got the money to live the way they do. Frank provided the gun off for Rick in a very professional way that made it seem like they were used to that kind of thing.

I really hated the way he spoke to her.  I don't care if he was right in the end, he was so condescending to his mother.  He also seemed oblivious as to how dangerous Greg actually was, and the risk to his mother's life.

I feared all season Chelsea would die and I guessed Rick would. It doesn't fill me with pleasure at all to be right. I wish more young women would learn to live for themselves instead of getting hung up on men who don't deserve them.

I think Saxon had a very good arc, started out a douchebag and had some actual character development. I liked him in the end.

Both Lochlan the brother molester and Piper the shallow as a puddle rich girl could have died for all I cared.

This season is not my favorite.
