I have lived in Maryland most of my life. I have not said Maryland as many times in my entire life as these women have said New York in the first 10 minutes of this show.  Maryland Maryland Maryland Maryland Maryland Maryland.,,,,,,Never mind. I’ll never catch up.

I’m trying to give this new cast a chance, but for me, a few minutes in, it’s  a contest for which one is the most unlikable, pretentious snob. They should have kept this franchise on pause if this is the best cast they could find. And an argument about cheese is not going to keep me watching.

Thankfully a new episode of Crappie Lake is next.

Complaining that someone likes olives but not black olives, and dill but not parsley was riveting. 🙄between the cheese controversy and this they seem obsessed with food but all of them look like they’re size zero.

I don’t think I’ll ever like any of these women as much as they all like themselves.  Not sure I can do this show. So far they’re all annoying.

I posted on the other thread.  Whatever.  This show is not for me.  All very rich pretentious women living in the City.  I cannot relate.  I watched for thirty minutes and was done.  What was Andy thinking?   Doubt this will last.  He had GOLD and threw it away.  I am a New Yorker and worked in the City.  These women are not the average.

I was trying  to think of something to say about cheese,  nope,  nothing.

Erin looks like Jennifer  Aniston, Brynn  reminds me of a young Mandy Moore,  (with less brain  cells) what restaurant  we're  they dissing  ? Olive Garden.?

I'll decide  next week if I continue,  tonight  was scattered, to say the least.

I was dying to know the name of the restaurant half the cast wouldn't be caught dead in. On WWHL it was some place that had fallen out of vogue.

They don't really know each other if they've never been in each other's homes. Also they kept calling Jenna, Jenna Lyons. Granted her closet was amazing but they really should have asked first.  I winced when they kind of ripped that lace Valentino shirt against the sequin jacket.

Twitter says it was Craft, which tracks with their comments as it's been open since 2001. It's Tom Colicchio (Top Chef) flagship restaurant so it also makes sense why Bravo would censor/bleep them slagging on it.

I liked the show more than I thought I would. It's not my RHONY but it was light & fun & interesting. I did not keep up with the gossip pre-show so I was happily surprised to see at least one of them is from my generation.

Hmmm… mixed reactions from me. They are so far up their arses they have smudged eyeliner. Too pretentious by far (example: Ms JCrew and her boob flashing shirts which she seems to think are oh so daring… ugh. Been there and done that decades ago). However, there were a couple of redeeming and funny moments. I liked how Brynn went to her ‘death’ when she had to face the music and have a convo with Erin about ditching the dinner. Cute and funny way of resolving their minor drama.

“I have poop”… this was the quote of the episode. Might need to be brought out again to describe future episodes… we shall see.

Ps. Traffic here a day after the air date seems to suggest a VERY lukewarm, perhaps even a cold, response.

Count me in on the small fraction that enjoyed this cast. If this was Beverly Hills they would have been talking about that stupid ass cheese-gate for the entire season. I especially love Brynn, Sai and Jenna. I find them way more relatable than crazy eyes Ramona, drunk cabaret queen LuAnn, Sonya and whatever it is she does. I had stopped watching long ago, tried to watch again but could not take the absolute vile way they treated Eboni. Was she Housewives material - no but damn; it was uncomfortable to watch and even more uncomfortable seeing the fans cheer them on.

This seems like it will be the original concept for this franchise. Women living and working and enjoying each other sprinkled with silly drama. No one will probably be promoting *insert their useless product line* here that will only be successful the first few weeks out of curiosity. 20 years from now no one will be trying to buy a sold out worldwide Embellish hat or She by Sheree on The RealReal. I had stopped watching all franchises because the meeting up and deciding who to take down that season was beyond ridiculous for women their big age (and I'm a big age too.) And then bringing in random friends that look like David Alan Grier (looking at you Ashley and DUMBruh) to stir up shit because you are not interesting enough on your own.

As far as influencers go I really don't understand why the world pretends it's such a waste of human space yet they are highly successful and make tons of money. My daughter is one (won't mention her name so everyone can run to her profiles and start picking her apart) for makeup/books/beauty products. It. works. People are interested in her, what she likes and what she recommends. It's no different from a celebrity brand or a celebrity spokesperson for a product.

Anyway, that's my 2 cents. I have it set to record.

The J. Crew woman I like very much. But I don’t need to see your breasts. Button up your shirt. Your home is amazing.

I like the ticked off Cheese Host woman.

The ditzy woman is going to get on my nerves. She hits on every man, including a cast member’s dad?

Honestly, I kinda loved it. Brynn reminds me of a young Jennifer Tilly. Cheese-gate was funny, as long as it ends this episode.

I'm in, it was light-hearted and fun.  I got to see some NYC apartments.  No one was immediately repulsive (not yet, anyway).  I was entertained for forty or so minutes.

Don’t you mean Catch? Because that’s what all the Bravo instagram accounts have been reporting, which would definitely make sense; Catch is a bit of an outdated “sceney” kind of douchelord den of a restaurant that disguises its bougie charms beneath overpriced upscale seafood.

I could see some of these broads turning up their noses over being seen at a place that’s considered tired and way past it’s prime.

Speaking of tired, I’m definitely getting major Carole Radziwill vibes from Jenna—not that it’s a bad thing because I loved Carole, but it’s funny how she’s the new “successful and cool downtown diva with a sexy condo” of this cast. Jenna probably has moved in Carole’s same social circles, ironically enough.

I liked this bunch overall; willing to give them a chance as this new season unfolds. Although I can tell Erin is going to annoy the shit out of me for always being so easily triggered, and I’m not really enjoying the prickly energy of the London Indian gal(her apartment is lovely though) but I’m enjoying all the other gals so far.

Beyond Jenna and the fabulously rich spunky energy of Sai and Ubah, I especially appreciate Brynn as the carefree single drunken ho who’s not afraid to get messy and have fun with playing up her usual character for TV’s sake: Sonja Morgan would approve!

I feel like it's too early to say whether or not I'm going to continue watching, but based on the first episode, I think I'll at least finish out the season. Some first season shows take a minute to find their groove. I don't know that any RH show necessarily had me at hello after the first episode. When RHONY did its first cast shake up after season 4 I think it took me a few episodes to get into it and then I was all about that show for years until last season.

I'll give these ladies a little time before I decide if it's working for me. If I have a complaint, it's that the show isn't that funny yet. This show used to make me laugh so much and I'm not feeling that vibe yet.

On the plus side the visuals are good. Jenna's food spread--yummy! Almost 400 pairs of shoes? Good lord, how much do we think that shoe collection is worth? $400,000? Am I totally low balling it?

Same. Although so far I'm liking her even more than Carole because Carole always had it in her head that she was above it all, like she was doing indepth research for her anthropology assignment. Maybe you can play that card for the first season, but once she came back year after year it's like honey, you're not above it, you're down with the game just like the rest of the Housewives.

It remains to be seen if Jenna is as cool as she seems, but right now I'm loving the vibe. Maybe I didn't love the pillowcases but they weren't a deal breaker. Also, she handled the closet raid very well. I feel like there are other Housewives who wouldn't have been nearly as understanding.

I got an annoying vibe from Brynn initially, but she kind of won me over...for now. I have my eye on her though.

No real thoughts about the others yet. The model is gorgeous.

The preview for the season looked good.

I’ll give it a chance. I’m still a little salty that instead of firing Leah and Eboni, they recast the whole thing. I didn’t care for Brynn or Erin. I liked Ubah, Sai and Jenna. The cheese fight was dumb.  I think it would have been more entertaining to cast LuAnn and Ramona with the new ladies.

I don't quite understand your point because then you sort of contradicted yourself and said your daughter is an influencer and it is no different than celebrity brands and that it works.

Not sure if I will stick with this, as the only one I care for is Jenna. I love her home, it actually has some character and colour. It may not be my choices (no to the pink couch) but at least it has personality.

Most of the others appear to live in boring, interchangeable white boxes. Expensive white boxes I am sure, but boring nevertheless. And too many little children, who at that age are either boring, obnoxious, or both. Rio #1 and his sister weren't bad, but we only saw them for a couple of minutes. And what are the odds of two howives having children named Rio? Maybe higher than I would have thought. I do always shake my head at people with small children decorating in all white. But it seems like many only follow trends, rather than common sense.

I do give points to Ubah for showing up at Jenna's gathering dressed in something other than black. However I don't know if I can last a whole season watching boring real estate porn combined with boring clothing choices of most of the howives. Add in snooze inducing convos like cheesegate, and I may be out. As Jenna said, move on.  At this point Jenna is the only saving grace for me.

RHONY was one of the best HW shows - until BRAVO cast joy kill Leah and Eboni and moved the show in a different direction -  and alienated viewers.

I don't know what viewers would be upset about in a world where the Kardashians are ubiquitous. I'd be surprised if one can find something about Bethenney or Ramona worth watching in 2023--unless Ramona was there when they raided Mar-a-lago

I liked this fresh version of RHONY. I liked that I didn't think about menopause or plastic surgery once while watching.

That’s what made these shows great in the first place how soon we have forgotten the golden era of petty fights and tacky clothes .. I don’t need a think piece or a lecture and I sure don’t need a seasons long never ending fight over something like ripping off elderly or things like that. These shows used to be light and fun

I have watched OC and NY since the beginning of each. I’ll stick with this version for a bit. It was refreshing for me that there were no scenes of stupidly drunk women. That became a real turn off for me with old NY cast. I would fast forward through so much of the show.

Bravo must be really nervous about this new version of RHNY. They are advertising it and pushing it shamelessly.  I forgot it was on so I turned in around 9:50 last night. The only one that I am remotely interested in is Jenna. The rest are too much into their own fabulousness.  I don't think I'll tune in on Sundays to see these women brag about how they live in New York!! I just don't care.

I think you are right.   All Bravo had to do was get a few new ones on with the old cast.  They were like family at this point.  Jersey is a disaster, but they are bringing all of them back.  Bad move.

I'm in - this is exactly what RH of NEW YORK should be - women who appear to be wealthy and who are obsessed with the nuances of social status - remember the good old days when Ramona was horrified at having to have her driver take her to Brooklyn to visit the Von Kemps.

Even their diversity doesn't seem forced the way the last season of NY did.

It is either Catch or Craft - the issue with Catch is that it hasn't been around long enough to have been hip in 2005 since it opened in 2011 while Craft opened in 2001 and is a bit long in the tooth for true trendiness.

But refusing to meet friends at a tourist restaurant - isn't that exactly what RHONY should be ?

What about the original cast was average? I think these women may be less wealthy than the OGs based on what was shown.

I have been watching RHONY since the first season, so I'll give this season a couple of more episodes and then decide if I keep watching. Most of the women seem pretty immature and that thought was confirmed after watching Watch What Happens with Andy and all of the new cast. They seemed overly giddy but that could be because they were reacting to their new so-called fame as a Bravo housewife. Or maybe they just had a lot to drink before the show started.🤷‍♀️ So far I'm not impressed.
At least for the other seasons one or two newbies might be introduced at the beginning of the season and we had time to get to know them as they blended with the other women we already knew.

Ha! I don't know about the plastic surgery (I thought I spotted at least one nose job), but the fillers, botox and lip plumping were in evidence. Ubah is only 39 and while she's indeed gorgeous, her face barely moves.

I agree. I like the lighthearted side of the housewives.

I think whether or not I find the show engaging depends on the charisma level of a couple of ladies. In a way it really only takes two or maybe three interesting housewives to make the show work. Watching them react to the others can sometimes be enough. I'm hoping the new group will gel for me by the middle of the season.

And who wants to watch average women. That was never the point of RHONY. Jill and Ramona were wealthy Manhattan ladies who lunch. Luann was still a countess. The Van Kemps got a lot of flock for being desperate social climbers - the good old days when they were reading the social pages of the New York Times to see if they were mentioned.  Bethenny wasn’t rich at the time but her background was that of someone who ran in those circles and she had been raised as an economically privileged person who had gone to an expensive prep school in Florida

I think before getting into the petty arguments over cheese and restaurants, perhaps the show should have spent the first episode letting the audience get to know the new housewives in their personal lives with no interaction between the women.

Do the editors not understand anticipation?

Lastly, Jenna should have been a cast member in season 12 or 13 of NY.  She's quirky, has legit fashion cred (used to love J Crew), is part of the LGBTQ community, and is pretty open with showing some skin.  She would have totally bonded with Sonja/Luann.. and I think she would have been a better bridge between the OGs and Eboni in season 13 then Leah was.

I didn’t entirely enjoy this episode, but I also didn't entirely dislike it. It was essentially a series premiere, and, like with all new HW shows, it’s hard to tell how everyone will gel, who will ease into it, and who won’t last. I’m interested enough to keep watching and liked that there was some old school harmless pettiness (WTF cheese?) but also some of the silliness. The only one I really can’t stand at this point is Brynn (besides that she styles herself like an overdone soap character from the '00s, she seems really immature). I like Jenna but I don’t want to. I enjoyed Erin. I'm interested in the others and think it might be fun once they get comfortable, drop the introductory acts, and really get going.

All in all, I don’t begrudge the reboot, but it shouldn't have been called RHONY; it’s not RHONY. Like others, I wish they’d either kept a few established RHONY HWs but really can’t think of who I’d actually want to see in this new context, besides maybe Heather, Kristen, or even Carole (wishful thinking?). That being said...

I watched RHONY from season 1 through season 11. I absolutely loathed season 10 and season 11 and have never actively rewatched them beyond the odd rerun. I watched part of season 12 and then stopped, with no interest in season 13. Looking back, I stopped watching new seasons because most of the long-term HWs became over-the-top caricatures of themselves who were stuck in piles of their own toxic shit (and then there was Leah, who got there all on her own). And, at least as I recall, RHONY became pretty much all most of them had going on, in one way or another, and it felt like a TV show about miserable drunk people filming a TV show about their TV show. As much as I love RHONY seasons 1-9 and have loads of positive nostalgia for most of those cast members, I don't know if it would be possible to fit Luann, Sonja, or Ramona (or Dorinda) into a show that's not entirely about them and their oddball dynamics. In that way, maybe meta spin-offs, like Crappie Lake and the legacy whatever trip, are for the best. The reboot got me watching the RHONY franchise again, including those spin-offs. 🤷‍♀️
