Yeah, I feel like they need to wait until Valentines. Get engaged at Christmas, but I wouldn’t announce for a couple of months. By February, the tabloids will have moved on.

I'm not sure the tabloids will ever be finished with Josh.  There will always be at least a couple of lines about his case in any future write-up on any family member or any family event.  Josh has created a great family legacy.

I think that would mostly depend on how public the Duggars insist on being after this. If they're going to use their name to squeeze as much social media money as they can, then one of the natural consequences of that is going to be being constantly linked to this case. Mackynzie could get married without any public fanfare other than whatever social media sleuths are still around. But if she and or her relatives have kept her on social media all those years and post about the engagement and wedding prep, then yeah, the attention their seeking isn't going to be as positive as they'd like.

It wouldn't matter if Mackynzie or the others used social media or not. If the tabloids and other bottom feeders get wind of her wedding, it'll be a few lines with her name, her partner's, and the wedding location, followed by paragraphs about her father, Smuggar, and his conviction for child porn, his molesting his sisters, his prison term, when he got out, and so on. And it would be near impossible to keep anything official, like a wedding that requires a marriage license, completely secret. 

Look at how the media rehashes things whenever Harry and Meghan are covered. It's nauseating, repetitive click bait, but obviously it works for the media.

The Duggs are Z list celebs, and without the TV show they are going to keep fading from public attention. I looked at a lot of the weekly ratings reports when their show was on, and the demographic of viewers leaned older. The leghumpers will die off, and unless another member of the family is caught doing something criminal and/or notorious, I just don't see them making the cover of the grocery store checkout magazines a few years from now.

But - we're in a fairly new world of clickbait sites regurgitating "news" and I don't know how that will play out to keep the Duggar name in circulation. 

I also don't know how the seriously big numbers of followers that the Duggar daughters in particular have on SM, will shape their future fame. They started out on SM with follower numbers that would-be influencers would sell their babies to have. OTOH they haven't been very good at exploiting those numbers or building them even bigger.

IMO the Duggars should all just STFU in public and do their best to live private lives. Maybe my best guess as to what will happen is that they will eventually fade from public view to the point that nobody will even generate clickbait with stories about another wedding or baby. But it could take awhile.

Not to mention that AFAIK dancing is verboten for them by virtue of their religion. Old school Southern Baptists didn't dance - although I think that's not observed so much by them these days. However, the Duggars are way more fundie than the SBC and have stated their disgust at music with a beat that stirs up ungodly desires or something.

But now we have Hannah Whatsername calling J-Who-sits her BOYFRIEND. In a social media post where she's so close to him she's practically wrapped around him. 

Actually it looks more normal than the pics and footage of the Family Felon and his virginal intended bride back during their engagement. So there's that.

I think even in more "typical" families, rules loosen for younger children compared to older ones. Jeremiah is the 11th child to have a courtship, I dont think JB and Michelle care much about what he does. JD was older when he started seeing Abbie and he called her "my girlfriend" in public before the engagement. 

Seems Hannah and Jeremiah are into each other, so I am happy for them. They look far more pleased to be together than Josiah & Lauren ever did for example. Their smiles remind me of Joe and Kendra, who also seemed to really like each other.

Good points. Not only is Jeremiah pretty far down the list of kids, I'm sure his parents have had even less time and attention than usual to give him in the months since their oldest child was charged with crimes. I hope he gets along well not only with Hannah but with her family.  And, it is good to see the two of them looking comfortable and happy together.

I think it's fair to say that many of the Duggar boys appeared to genuinely care about their partners, even when they were courting/dating with a purpose. I think the only ones where I didn't get that vibe were Josh, Josiah (with either one), or Jed! (because he decided to take the most conservative route).
