Well this is no fun to watch.  Awkward all around.  Ashton seemed sincere for like a millisecond and then we learn he went to therapy “last week” and only quit drinking last month and pfffft.

I'm not buying Asston's "That's not who I am" BS.  He's had awhile to conjure up this narrative.  Buddy, that's exactly who you are.

He does seem a bit nervous.  Heh heh.  I hope he's having serious real world consequences.

Kate calls him on his "epiphany" after his doubling down on the after-shows.  Rhylee's not buying it either.  Has he really quit drinking?  I hope we find out when he gets arrested somewhere.

The brus didn't jump on Abby because she was always subservient and "girly" enough for them to drool over.

ETA:  She knew her place and stayed there.

Courtney nails it!  It's all about the expectations.  She shut them down hard.

WTF was that?

They kept turning everything back on Kate as if there was something she had said or done that was equivalent to what these drunken misogynistic assholes did during the season.  And Andy was clearly on their side of this.

To paraphrase one of Leslie Jone's live tweets about Ashton and the van... that's the worse nightmare... a guy gets too drunk, gets sexually aggressive, gets turned down, and turns violent.  

Its like they don't get the gravity of what was going on here, what the female crew was on the receiving end of, and the viewers were seeing.  Its not equivalent to throwing laundry on the floor. 

That is what Courtney underlined at the end.  Andy tried to do his whole, we all pretend to make up at the end Housewives shtick and Courtney basically said fuck no this was actually serious.

And OMG, I can't believe Andy decided at the end to just have the female side of the reunion explain what they need to improve on because he deemed the guys side apologized at length in a satisfactory way.

Okay before I go drink all the drinks that Ashton can't now that he stopped drinking for a week prior to the reunion - and let's take this moment to give him a brü-ly pat on the back for both this and his one single therapy session that he pulled out of his ass all of a sudden when he saw that doubling down in post-show stuffs wasn't getting him the reaction he was hoping - can someone confirm for me that the Brü Crü was actually, truly trying to make a comparison between their hateful behaviour and drunk SmashKate throwing their pants on the ground? Like that somehow makes things okay and fair?

Andy Cohen: "But he apologized!" Yeah, like the kid who got caught sneaking a cookie from the cookie jar. He doesn't know why he's apologizing, he just knows that someone's mad at him but he's going to do it again tomorrow. It’s a great example of why I have always had issues with Andy. He rarely listens to people, especially women, and at the end of the day he truly believes that boys will be boys and it’s not that serious, even when people are telling him otherwise.

I don't know what Simone was saying about people of color and the yachting industry because she tends to speak very fast and I can't understand her.

This show, all other Bravo shows, and our American politics today truly show how worthless the phrase, "I apologise" has become.  Doesn't anyone ever take real responsibility any more?  Saying I'm sorry but never changing, does not, or certainly should not wipe the slate clean.  The hurt from the way a person is treated does not just melt away, especially when there is no true remorse. Ashton, I'm looking at you.  

I wouldn't wish unemployment on anyone, but I hope Bravo never employs those 4 douchebags again.

Well, no surprise there - this reunion was just as unsatisfying as most of the Real Housewives' reunions have become.  And I blame Andy Cohen for that.  He is truly the worst moderator in the history of moderating.  He's probably the biggest misogynist of all the men sitting in the Clubhouse tonight.  He threw a couple of difficult questions at the guys, but they were mostly softball easy pitch type questions.  He did not seem to see the women's point of view at all.  

Ashton can go home now, with his fake-ass tears and non-self-awareness.  The only reason he is sorry now is because of audience backlash - not because of what he did.  Although, he did a halfway decent job of being pretty convincing during the apology speech.  He then shot it all to hell with the rest of his answers/comments.  After the apology to Kate, he should have just sat there with his mouth shut.  Kate is a bigger person than I - she accepted his apology.  

Kate just doesn't seem to hold a grudge, ever (well, except maybe for Leon, Caroline and Rocky).  She just keeps it moving and moves on.  Good for her.  I am truly going to miss her - I don't know anyone that can fill her shoes.  

Rhylee kind of annoyed me tonight.  I don't like her.  I'll be glad to not see her anytime soon back on my TV.  I don't think that she has learned anything about herself that she is willing to change - I think Rhylee likes being reactionary, emotional and fiery.  I think she's just fine with being who she is and, to put it in terms that she would use - "Fuck you if you don't like it".  

Courtney came out looking the best of anyone tonight, and it's pretty apparent that she is over being a stew.  I loved how she shut Brian and Andy down right away, but also think that Andy was pissed because Courntey took away his usual "kiss and make up" closing for reunion shows.  After she shut it down with Brian and Andy, there wasn't much left to do at that point. 

Captain Lee is a salty, old-school guy.  I got the feeling that he was disappointed in himself for not knowing what was going on (not his fault, I think), disappointed that the women did not appraise him of what was going on, and that he now regrets not being more involved "below deck".  I think that was why he walked off the set - he was upset with himself, upset with the assholes sitting opposite him, upset with the situation.  He needed time to regroup.  

I wonder if we will see a more involved Captain Lee in the next season.  

It will be interesting to see next season without Kate, and a possibly more hands-on Captain Lee.

That was such an awkward uncomfortable reunion - much like the whole season. No one except Courtney came out of this unscathed. Captain Lee looked out of touch and dottering; Kate looked smug and done; Rhylee could have redeemed herself but she just can’t hold it together; Simone looked bitter and angry, and the Brus just looked pathetic. Ashton tried to redeem himself ( must have someone advising him) but I guess he forgot about all the aftershows which are posted all over the Bravo site. I guessKevin seemed the LEAST apologetic and the least self aware. He sounded l8ke a grade school kid. When he tried defending himself for kicking sand in Kate’s eye by saying, “ but she said....”

"Step back as a senior member of the Below Deck Family" - she's not leaving....she's just "stepping back".  I also think she is trying to say something by using the phrase "senior member".   She's asserting that she is/was a "senior member" of the Below Deck family...whatever that means.  But it implies power and a higher rank than others which might serve to justify a new gig that actually does have power.

"work to become financially independent" - Andy made it clear with the departure of Vicki Gunvalson that show participants should not rely on Bravo show wages as their sole source of income.   Kate is smart enough to know she needs something beyond Below Deck, and she's popular enough that Bravo will want to keep her around in some capacity.  And, I'd wager she'll be making a pretty penny and she used this phrase to justify it.

Andy came so hard for her and basically dismissed her concerns so I really, really doubt it. Plus other things she has said she is interested in doing in various interviews from starting a new podcast to writing another book.

Internal discussions is literally direct from the Sussex statement as are the stepping back, the financially independent etc. it adheres so closely to not be an actual statement about what she is doing.

I am so bummed at the prospect of a Kate-less Below Deck that I am officially going to turn off BRAVO altogether and forget its channel number.  Below Deck was the last BRAVO show I watch, I already gave up on all the Housewives.  Actually I think "Reality TV" as a genre of unscripted entertainment is dying and has outlived its expiration date. Idiots like Mark Cronin @ 41 Minds / BRAVO dug their own graves by failing to intervene when they witnessed misogynistic and dangerous behavior toward female crew members on BD's 7th season, and just let the cameras roll on. Cronin, you've literally killed your cash cow thru your greed and inability to make the right call.   Kate Chastain deserved SO MUCH better from BRAVO.  I hope she lands with something positive that has no connection with you.  And you can just watch your ratings drop next season..

BTW:  different network but I'm equally sick of the whole Bachelor Nation franchise.  Another reality "show" where producers' greed and casting decisions continually ramped things up and up  until the shows were painful to watch as the participants degraded and embarrassed themselves and their families.

I'm sticking with documentaries and  Netflix for quality programming from here on.
