I am post menopausal.  Ergo, period placements have very little to do with my old addled brain .  AND - my arms are DISABLED!!!  An excuse for the fucking ages .., and why I cannot type for shit. ;-)

Besides, Babalu kitty has draped his corpulence across my arms and my keyboard.  I blame him for every & all punctuation transgressions.

Walnutqueen, I believe you have said that you love the part of Canada where I live. I would be happy to make you an honourary (notice the "u" after the "n") Canadian, in which case your punctuation would be quite acceptable. As a post menopausal and retired person, I care less and less about these things as the years go by.

For the Potluck:

I can see Kyle making a lasagna. Then Dorit saying it's not lasagna if Kyle bakes it in a casserole dish

I can see Rocio putting together a salad, then LVP in her kitchen drizzling in the dressing, tossing it, and telling it to be sexy, sexy, sexy.

I can see Erika/Rinna/Dorit - buying something to take like wine or dessert.

I don't think Potluck - necessarily means they have to cook it themselves.

I still see Kim desperately tossing chicken salad.

Oh, periods and quotation marks! The period does indeed go inside (in the US), as do commas. So do other punctuation marks, but only if they belong to the words inside the quotation marks. And if a punctuated quote is at the end of a sentence, there does not need to be a punctuation mark to end the sentence as a whole.

I ate my fair share of mid century modern food.  Totally over it and the punctuation debate.  (I'd reconsider my stance if Cher would feed me finger foods).

I quite liked this episode. Not really an Erika fan but how cool was she to help Dorit with her bit and to share Mikey, too?

I used to like Dorit but she is acting all kinds of crazy this year. Can't believe she's calling Teddi psycho. Doesn't she know that all the complaining she did about the proper glass at Teddi's house is going to come back to haunt her? There's video, for bloody sake. That said, the party was great and although I'm definitely not a PK fan, I was moved by how moved he was, Dorit did a good job with the party. I would have been right next to Lisa gorging myself with caviar an creme fraiche.

Teddy, Teddy, Teddy. She's nice enough but not very ebtertaububg. And what's up with the pot-luck? I do like how she doesn't get all crazy, though.

Who the fuck dresses Kyle? 9 times out of 10 I hate what she's wearing. Her birthday party dress was hideous!

Never said it was a tragedy, just odd/weird/ridiculous way to entertain. Just order in takeout or go out to dinner if you are not into cooking for your guests.

Or it's how Teddi rolls.

I did laugh at Dorito describing transportation from the helicopter to the party boat. The last mode she described as a speed boat. It looked like a motorized dinghy to me. (Someone here used the correct term but I don't remember it). More suitable for Inspector Clouseau than James Bond I thought.

LOL about the speedboat. I thought the same thing. Do you really need to SPEED from one yacht to another yacht that's only 10 feet away?

There is also the reality that Teddi doesn't know what is being said so she is oblivious to the reactions of the others to her demands.

Is she making "demands" on anyone? I guess I just don't see that she is. As keeps getting pointed out, this is a job. If the job is to attend a birthday party for one of these chicks, I will assume a gift is purchased. When they run to the deli to get their offering to take to Teddi's, they should just pretend they are at Saks.

They do things with each other to an extent because that is the job. Sometimes they don't like it. I remember someone on another show bitching because the deal one night was to go bowling. They all went, stepped out of their comfort zones, and managed to have some laughs. Again as has been pointed out, if it is such an incredible hardship to bring some sort of grub along with them, they can always say "sorry, but this demand is simply a bridge too far. I will get on planes, boats, etc. I will shop with you and eat lunch with you even though I detest you. I will invite you into my home for my own parties even though you talk about me behind my back. I will eat strange foods in strange lands with you.  I will leave my family for a week to travel with you even though I would prefer to just slap your face. But I have to put my foot down at the idea of stopping at Ralph's for a cheese plate". Totally their right to do so. Also totally Teddi's right to plan the event that she wants to plan.

Maybe it is a Midwestern thing, but some of us enjoy the occasional potluck (well, we don't call it that - we call it Girls Night around here). It has nothing to do with not having enough money to provide the food yourself. It is a communal sort of a deal. Or it can be. Some people like it. Enjoy a different kind of camaraderie and the casualness of the event. Some don't. Those that don't can just stay home and face the horror of not being on camera because, you know, it is just so hard to travel with food.

Just to be contrarian, I thought "potluck" originally meant "Please stay for dinner but what you're served will be what there is in the pot" or what we usually eat rather than something fancy.  Maybe it's because I really am older than dirt and originally from the Midwest. I know it's not common usage because at least on the West Coast "potluck" means everyone bring something, but in Lutheran circles that's a Covered Dish meal.

I thought Teddi meant come down to the beach and takes what you get and don't throw a fit. I'd have a catered taco salad bar and margaritas and send the extra food to a homeless shelter because none of them will eat anyway.

Dorit. I always seem to begin with my dislike of Dorit. Oh well. Had Dorit called me a "psycho bitch" for such little reason as she did Teddi, I'd have shown her what a psycho bitch really was. Oh, you think I mean by going all psycho on her skinny fake-British torso? No, of course not. I'm a lady *cough*. I'd whip out my compact and show her her own psycho face. My land sake, woman. Get a grip. Also, if PK is her James Bond, my husband must be Ross Poldark in disguise. (At least, my husband has the brooding and the colouring down pat, even if not the chiseled abs.) Oh, and, no, no, you didn't nail "Fever." What the heck was that dance mover you were making when the editors spliced in that TH where you claimed to have nailed it?

If everyone just pops into Ralph's for a crudite or cheese platter or a cake that's a seriously shitty potluck.  There was a party in previous seasons that was like that and everyone talked mad shit (maybe Dana/Pam's game night?  Erika also had a party w/o food, but that's not what I'm thinking of.  I'm thinking of one that specifically had just cheese & crackers and crudite etc.  not even a hot app, and everyone got shit faced and fought and blamed it on the lack of available food).  Also, is there really a lot of community and camaraderie in everyone plopping down a premade platter from Ralph's?  If that's all that's going on, I'd rather just have someone else pick my platter up and give them the money since it'd be more efficient.  In my opinion, Teddi's potluck is a shitty idea due to logistics.  She's in LA.  In LA the colloquial understanding of a potluck is everyone brings a dish and combined those dishes make a meal, not there's a lot of pots and you take what's in them or it's a girls night or anything else.  She should also be familiar with how long it takes to get from LA/BH to her house in Dana Point and understand both food safety and even just the food not being so great after it has traveled in the car for so long.   Also what to bring is apparently left pretty much up in the air.  There are only a few people going.  What if they all bring cake?  Is it a Teddi's grilling and everyone else bring sides kind of deal?  Rinna read a lot of info about biking and margaritas and hotels and working out on the beach and whatever else, but there didn't seem to be a lot of well thought out specifics around the potluck.  Maybe they were there and glossed over and we'll hear more next week.  Until then, it seems like a stupid and poorly thought out idea.

ETA: Not sure a gambling party was a great choice for PK. You know how some people drink too much but aren't alcoholics?  They just are bad at making decisions and/or being adults?  It kind of seems like he might be that way with gambling, granted I don't know the facts, but it does seem like he's made some very bad choices regarding gambling.

Dorit is really not doing herself any favors this season. And I don't know if the editors have just been saving up all of Rinna's most lucid moments for this episode but she almost looks sane compared to Dorit now.

Another shocker, I am really enjoying Erika lately. She was very sweet to help Dorit with her performance. And I thoroughly enjoyed her and LVP bonding over the knockoff mink. Lisa's eyes when she said "I'll get you one downtown" gave me Cruella vibes.

Yuck on the glove, it is somewhat better than a Band-aid I got once in a salad.  Gosh I wonder if they let Dorit know-she might have gotten a few bucks knocked off the bill.  I don't blame Dorit for the mishap but I am curious if the "friend" told her before divulging to others.

I am at a loss as to how a food prep person could lose a glove and a server not notice it in the salad?  They must have some very low mood lighting.

The person who took the picture doesn't actually know Dorit amd PK. Her stepmother is acquaintances with Dorit and was invited but couldn't go. So she forced her dad to take her because she thought it would be interesting. I can't imagine that the staff was not alerted. Yes, it wasn't Dorit's fault but neither was the waiter pouring her wine in the wrong wine glass wasn't Teddi's fault but that didn't stop Dorit from bitching about it. Apparently, the cruise was almost 6 hours. I think I would have swam to shore or asked  Mauricio for the info on the boat he hailed.

Erika's first season she was too far up Yolanda's butt to notice anything beyond Yolanda's (horrid gas issue) opinion and then last season Eileen made sure Erika didn't make friends with anyone she didn't approve of. This season, as much as Rinna is trying to crawl into that space left vacant when Eileen left, Erika hasn't allowed her in that far. LOL Oh, and it seems that if Eileen could have her way, neither Erika or Rinna would get along with Dorit even now. http://www.bravotv.com/the-real-housewives-of-beverly-hills/season-8/episode-7/videos/eileen-davidson-is-here

Even though most of the time it is BS, does anyone else get irked that only Teddi seems to writer her blog? Is that newcomer syndrome ? Lisa and Kyle seem to only write one when they are heavily involved in the episode. Dorit has been pretty good but overall it annoys me. Just venting a bit. Every now and then there is some real shade thrown ( cannot believe I am now using that expression) and I want to see it again.

Nowadays, I feel like potlucks are disguised as, "please bring a dish to share" or something, instead of saying it's a potluck. I grew up with school and church potlucks which involved picnic tables lined up in long rolls, packed with all kinds of casseroles, sloppy joes and buns, homemade chip and veggie dip, and LOTS of pasta salad.

Kim would have been perfect for the potluck episode.

I know the potluck deal isn't apparently popular, but if I got word that LVP was going to roll up at Teddi's with a crockpot, I would buy a good bottle of wine to watch it, and keep it on a loop for continued viewing. I love seeing these gals do just regular people stuff. I also love seeing them do the fancy stuff. But give me a shot of any of them just doing the normal thing, and I am in love. No big fancy meal or dinner will ever get me to the place I was when I saw LVP and Adrienne prepare a chicken. I am such a sucker for that stuff with these gals.

I am sure there was far more to the party that when we saw. The producers pick and chose what they want us to see and it isn't unheard of for production to encourage 1 HW to confront another to up the drama. I suspect that Dorit's party was going far too nice for productions liking, so they encouraged Dorit/Teddi to "talk" and Lisa/Kyle to help the conversation. That said, it is up to each HW to do productions bidding or not and I think Dorit should have just let it go. LOL

As far as Dorit calling Camille a see u next Tuesday, they aren't strangers, the met last season. No, they aren't friends that can joke like Dorit tried to do but they weren't strangers either. I don't think Teddi will leave next season based on what we have seen so far and Eileen left because she is now working on 2 separate soap operas and had no time for the HW show.

You are most likely correct Wire Wrap..things were going to nice and friendly....so Bravo had to inject some drama into the mix!! Normally the hostess of such a lavish event would probably not think about "the glass" She would be far too busy entertaining her guests.

But in the future Doriet ends to drop it and let it go....Anyone who shouts C--T across a table at a formal dinner party, should not even mention etiquette to anyone....much less class, common sense, breeding, or manners too ANYONE! That was a trans low class thing to shout at Camille, if Doriet can't hold her liquor don't drink. Too bad Teddi, Kyle or VP didn't bring that up.....that would of shut Doriet down good. Let her feel the shame, not Teddi.

Sorry meant too say Trashy....not Trans! Darned Kindle!

I think that's what I've always liked about the BH girls vs the other franchises. They genuinely seem to have fun with each other. I loved when they went to Palm Springs a few seasons back and spent the whole time mud wrestling and joyriding on golf carts. Obviously that's not a regular person kind of vacation but it's always fun to watch them genuinely enjoying themselves rather than constantly try to one-up each other to mask their flailing finances and marriages, like all the other RH franchises.

I loved LVP making Kyle groom Bambi herself last week. Those two are always a joy to watch when they aren't caught up in all the drama. And Dorit better not come between that beautiful friendship. I am not looking forward to their fight next week :(

Hold on...

Is that a PLASTIC fork? Granted, it looks like high-end plastic. But it still looks like plastic.

Anyone?

I think it might be. That has to rank higher on the etiquette faux pas list than incorrect stemware.

Do they make a crockpot that plugs into the car because my main issue with the whole potluck thing is that its a few hours drive and the food is going to sit for several hours before dinner.

The jury is still out on whether it is better to waste precious water washing cutlery during a California drought or add to the unspeakable plastic trash heap.  I vote for finger food.  Or a certain doggie can just snag me a baked potato.  ;-)

Maybe it is because I’m Southern (and Methodist) but dude, potlucks with a 2-3 hour window of getting the food there is EASY.  We had a potluck after work once so you had to bring in the food at 8 am but nobody consumed until around 4 pm.  You just choose your food dishes wisely.  Meatballs are always a good option as is mac  and cheese. Avoid a potato salad unless you pack it in a cooler.  If I have a chance to pick up something on the way, I’m bringing some fried chicken and I will replate it.

I’m not Middle Eastern.  Just live here. I’ve never seen food like that here.  Maybe Ethiopian food?  Ethiopian tends to look more like that...

I've seen some with helipads. Thought he only time I saw one being used was when it was docked outside of Port Hercules.

I’ve seen lots of yachts with helipads.  You know how Dubai loves yachting!  They weren’t really on a “yacht” but a party boat.  Nothing to write home about.

I am a very PROUD and LOUD Canadian, who happens to think the Pacific Northwest is specfuckingtacular, eh!.  But I am an impoverished retiree living in SoCal, unable to afford the heating bills "Up North"..

If you've ever heard of Mount Sheer, somewhat adjacent to Squamish - I may be the only person to sport that ghost town on my birth certificate.

Aw Walnutqueen, I too have a failing memory as I forgot that you are indeed Canadian!! Which means that your punctuation was totally correct! I live in the Okanagan Valley and remember you saying you love it. But Fort Langley is my second favourite place to be! My maternal great grandparents on both sides settled there in the early 1900s and great grandmother was instrumental in getting the beautiful community hall built. I have a ton of family history in that place! I love that the parts of the town are used in so many shows including Riverdale and the Bates Motel series. So nice to reconnect with you over our shared love!

Regarding potlucks, I have loved them since childhood, growing up in a small town where our church would host potlucks and much of the town would turn out. The funny thing I have found with potlucks I have attended over the years (including an xmas party one in December) that whether there is a sign up sheet for which category of food you are going to bring or it is a free for all, there is always a great variety and fabulous food! I love that Teddy is having one, as others have said if for no other reason that getting some of the women out of their pretentious comfort zones.

There are some women on this show that just can not deal with being on camera without putting on a fabulous pretense.

The problem Teddi is having is how she is reacting to it is betraying some insecurity.  She lets it bother her but it goes beyond that,  She does not let it go, she keeps on whining about it to the others.  Camille hasn't complained as much about what Dorit said at the dinner party as Teddi has about the time flute.

I say this as someone who is on Teddi's side, if I must pick one.  Dorit is an awful person;  but Teddi needs to let it go.  I'm not sure that Dorit will let her though.

Looking back at the beginning of the season.  LvP and Dorit tried to make Rinna feel small because she didn't dress for Teddi's horse show like it was the Kentucky Derby.  Rinna didn't let it bother her, they got there and it became clear that Rinna was the one dressed appropriately because she listened to what Teddi told her.

I can't count the times Kyle has thrown a "casual" backyard dinner party and one of them would come over dressed and Kyle will try to smooth it over for the other guests with a laugh so they don't feel uncomfortable.  Although the repetitiveness of that move has seemed to get to Kyle a few times.

One of the main things I like about Ericka is that she dresses appropriately for what she is doing (although probably in sweats that cost way too much).  If she's going to be on a plane for 20 hours, she dresses for that.  If she's going to a spa day, she dresses like she plans to participate.  When everyone else over dresses, it doesn't make her question  her worth.

Teddi lets it get to her that the others don't have the manners to act appropriately at the events that are planned as if its a reflection on her.

Kyle is frequently one of the people over dressed for her casual dinner parties.with Erika, Rinna, and Eden commenting on how fancy everyone including Kyle was dressed at different of her casual parties.
