Jeopardy! Season 34 (2017-2018)

I might have gotten "dap" if the hands were black and if they had a quick video and not a still picture. I've never heard dap used to refer to as simply a fist bump.
I'm growing weary of Austin, but also kind of rooting for him. I miss his big FJ bets though.
TS's I got were All Things Considered and Lift Every Voice and Sing. There was something else but I can't remember now.

Maybe I read too much into it, but a certain pretty powerful American has a building -- a tower, one might say -- located on the Upper East Side in NYC.  So I took Austin's comment as aimed at a particular person rather than random rich people.  (It's hard to keep politics out of one's comment when commenting on someone's political comment!)

TSs I got were The Middle, dap, and All Things Considered. I was yelling at Brian, "All Things Considered! All Things Considered!" 

After a few days of easy DD, wouldn't you know that he'd get a tough one. 

I couldn't quite come up with Jane Auel. I could almost see it on the book jacket. Four letters, Aul....? Oh well.

For one of the mattress clues, I would have said Select Comfort instead of Sleep Number. I think both are acceptable.

Re FJ, I slapped my head when sepia was revealed. Of course sepia is a nostalgia hue. My guess was cyan because of sea-an. *shame*

Alex is VERY deferential to Austin, it is distracting. I was really annoyed with Alex yesterday when he said "900 only?" for Austin's FJ wager. Yeah, a runaway game would cease to be a runaway if someone bet more than their winning differential, Alex, dumbass.

I thought he was pantomiming an umpire. Called someone out, took off his mask, drew a new ball out of his pouch, etc. Utterly pointless and beyond twee. I'm so sick of this guy. THIS! But I'll try :)  I've read Austin's pre-Jeopardy! tweets. His politics match mine and he's not shy about stating them, which -- to me -- is another plus.

First time posting here, so don't hit me too hard.

I'm a J! fan (obviously) and from Canada... and my first thought when I saw Austin was that he reminded me of the guy who plays Riggs in Lethal Weapon (Clayne Crawford)... similar face shape, messy hair and goofiness.

The second thing I noticed was that he missed the "What is Canada?" portion of his answer (early on) after he got the Panama portion... seemed so easy to me!

Had to ponder why he intrigues me - because he does, and only partially due to his extensive trivia knowledge. There are things I like about him: the way he runs a category, starting at the top (smile); his big wagers; his speed; some of his quirkiness. There are things that irritate me: his hair (better now); the rest of his quirkiness. All in all, he's a J! champion and he'll go down as one of the best ever in terms of his winnings and OTT personality.

If Austin were a 5-year-old, he would be described as "precocious." This is not a type of person I would choose to be friends with. But as long as he keeps winning thrilling DDs and gives up the "I hate such-and-such" testimonials, he is watchable.

(I really hope his referring to himself as "the smartest person in the world" is facetious, although he should know that sarcasm/joking is not obvious in print, DUH, "smarty" :-P)

I think half the stuff he says is facetious, and he loves that people here take it so seriously.  I must be one of the few people who loved his wild hair better than his current look.  I don't pay attention to his pantomimes and just watch him play.  I love the way he plays.  I love that when he misses an answer he doesn't let it bother him.  I think that's been the undoing of some good contestants, that after they miss something they lose their concentration.

I think so too, but I don't find that charming. I think he's being divisive just to be divisive, to see the reaction. Maybe he also has bets or whatever with his friends as to what he should do or say.

Dave Madden, Julia Collins, and Matt Jackson., according to http://stuarte.co/2015/all-time-jeopardy-winners/  Although it says 2015, it's been updated to include Austin and Seth.

I am glad Austin is gone and was never a fan but I have to say he was a classy and gracious loser and that is a rare talent these days.  Also he and Scarlet seemed to really be getting along well at the end.  Now that I won't have to watch him every night, I wish him well and can admit that maybe he wasn't as horrible as I thought.  Clearly he was smart and gutsy.  Enjoy your winnings, dude!
