I'll keep an ear out for anything locally about a potential Duggar run. I don't think he's going anywhere politically. I suspect some sort of unholy alliance with Ballinger, but that's not a great politician to tie one's fortune to. Ballinger is not liked even by a lot of local Republicans, and he's been embroiled in a few stupid scandals. (Nothing sexy, just financial.) His efforts to defend himself in local papers were embarrassing, and he had his ass duly handed to him by local yokel editorialists. 😂

That web audio interview of him talking about politics was painful. Boy is DUMB. He can't string together a coherent sentence. Even the republican hosts were kind of frustrated with him. Good.

Well they need a new courtship for the show. I bet it's easier to find some poor girl to marry a Duggar boy than it is to find someone for Jana. I get the sense that some young man high on fundieism, ready to be an adult, and probably excited by the prospect of any feminine companionship is easy to find a match for. 

I thought it would be one of the -iah twins, since they're a little older than the other brothers. (The -iah twins are 20 almost 21.)

Yay for Abbie! I suspected she was doing what it appeared Whitney Bates agreed to do -- wearing skirts exclusively for filming. I know Abbie is still fundie, but I like that she went to real nursing school. I wonder if her hair isn't just naturally getting darker. That happened to me in my early 30's. I went from dark dirty blonde to fairly dark brown hair over the course of maybe five years. My hair stylist said it's common for blondes to end up like that.

I know. It's nervous making. Because they do have name recognition and -- although I hope not -- potential access to the TeeVee show for a little goose .... and of course they've got lots of conservative-Christian Republican connections. ...

On the other hand, a lot's been said about their having a fairly negative reputation among many people, too......And, of course, Jim Bob's lost some elections there, big time. He really only had one initial success and then it all went south. His initial success came before his TeeVee fame, so I don't know exactly what may have happened to his reputation since that time.

I hold out some hope based on Paul Caldwell's attempt to gain that seat or another nearby one several years ago. He's pretty well known and had a lot of loud support from the Duggars -- plus he's good looking, an adult, and an actual minister with, you know, a job and a congregation, and a nice-looking wife and a bunch of well-cared-for-looking kids......And the year he ran wasn't a big Democratic-landslide year.....but he lost. 

I expect a lot depends on the current demographics of their area. If it's still old white conservative Christians -- and Arkansas is very very heavy with those -- then he may have a shot. If it's getting more diverse, though, he probably doesn't. It seems from what his opponent says that it is getting more diverse, but it's hard to tell how far that's gone.

I would think any public speaking Jed has to do might do him in. But who knows how much he'll have to do? 

I really do think this run may be about as nuts as Jim Bob trying to get into the U.S. Senate, though. Jed's pretty clearly an ignorant idiot and a nasty little ideologue. And he's very very young to be in public office.

On reddit posters are saying that that part of Arkansas is fairly liberal and people there hate the Duggars. Don't know how true that is but the incumbent is a Democrat woman so there's that 🙂
