I saw the clip, and quite frankly, I'm exhausted listening to Butch blabber on about his self-awareness just to fail all over again. I'm no fan of Tyler but between Butch and Catelynn, I'm surprised he's not a raging alcoholic. Butch was all happy because his son is the only person giving him some unconditional love and is always there for him, meanwhile, Tyler doesn't get the same feeling of unconditional love in return. This man said he had chosen coke over his son and now he's living in his son's old house. I have to give Tyler kudos for how he's handling his wife and father being life suckers.

Butch doesn't give a shit about "unconditional love."  He maintains a relationship with Tyler solely for a piece of the TM cash pie.

And I think Tyler is just smart enough to know that. Dang it, another reason to legitimately feel sorry for Tyler. If MTV has me feeling actual empathy for him by the end of the season, I'm kicking them in the nuts.

Tyler is surrounded by needy people who have manipulated the fuck out of him. Yeah, I have some sympathy for him. It isn't easy dealing with an addict, and someone who fears losing you. That is not to say he isn't accountable such as bringing another kid into his world and all the other crap he does.

Am I a bad person because I laughed so, so hard at Farrah trying to flirt with Simon, who clearly still just hangs around her for an easy lay, followed by a fork through the heart cartoon?  That was amazing! Thank you TM graphic artist, whoever you are.

Um. Was that hay ride age-appropriate for Leah? Maybe it was the make-up but she looked scared out of her mind.

Good GOD Catelynn and Tyler live a miserable fucking life.  //imho//

I loved Maci saying they (her, Larry and Jen) were going to kick Ryan out of the family if he fucks it up with Mackenzie.

I just wanted to reach through the screen and blend out Amber's blush.

Good for Gary for spending his Teen Mom money on something that isn't plastic surgery, a tattoo, a luxury vehicle, pets you neglect and 20 million vacations.

MacKenzie, you aren't the first caretaker to fall for their client.

Seriously.  She has GOT to be making a salary on top of the MTV money watching after Ryan.

I swear the way Jen & Larry were talking about her, it sounded like they hired her.

When can this series end? The more I see of these people the less I want to do. None of them are even fun to hate watch, I just uncomfortable all the time and sadly I can't not watch when there's an episode on my DVR. I just feel oddly uncomfortable watching now.

And also I hate the aftershows. Nessa was fun on girl code but the last thing we needed was a host like her bringing the moms and others in to gossip like this whole situation is super cute. I mean.. the OGs aren't as bad as when she does it with TM2 and way more issues are happening there but still.

I felt really sad for him, too.  How many times has he made that ride to the jail/prison, how many times has he heard his dad say "I'm gonna really try.....this time it's different..."   Yea right, Butch.  Blah, blah, blah.  It's depressing.  And on top of that, he's dealing with something similar with Catelynn, but when he alluded to it, she totally shut that down ("stop being a dick," throwing the pillow at him, changing the subject).  Both are manipulating him to take their bullshit and repress his own feelings and needs.

Also, I didn't like when Cate asked Butch why he didn't come and talk to them when he got the urge to do lines of coke.  Because he's an addict!  That's not how it goes.  I wanted to ask her if she thinks to call a friend every time she smokes a joint or passes around a bong.  Doubt it.

I don't feel that bad for Tyler. He's emotionally abusive and manipulative to Cate, and for all that she's not working on her mental health she is the primary breadwinner in that family. He got a raw deal with Butch and that sucks, but Ty's old enough and had enough quasi-therapy to set boundaries and handle it better. It's scary to think they want to foster kids when they're still trying to get themselves together (especially with the looming specter of the end of the TM gravy train).

I can't lie, I love that Farrah had to warn Sophia that they don't do hate crimes. Although these days, that's not as funny as it used to be :S.

Tyler learned the finer points of manipulation and abuse growing up with a father who is an addict and an abuser.

Catelynn learned her asshole moves from April and later from Butch.

I know, right? Tyler has not been able to express his feelings and emotions as he has had to deal with Butch and April. Excuse me, I meant Cate. I can't tell them apart. Cate has had the opportunity to seek and be seen for her problems, but what about Tyler. Why is it every time he opens up his mouth, Cate has to shut him down? She is denying him the chance to speak and open up and express his feelings about what is bothering him. How frustrating that must be. Cate doesn't have the monopoly on feeling emotional and depressed.

Maci and her monotone voice as she sang "Happy Birthday" was pretty fucking pathetic.

All of the Teen Moms do this.  Whenever someone dares to say something critical (or "do a hate crime" - TM Farrah), they change the subject or shut the conversation down right quick.  Gotta protect their image.  It's such a selfish POV.

I love that Farrah is constantly, constantly lecturing everyone on positivity when she is one of the most negative, judgmental, and hateful people on television.

I know!  One would think she'd watch, like one episode, and at least keep it together while filming!  But she can't. She is lacking in self awareness, empathy and everything else that makes people likeable.  She.  Is.  Pure.  Gold.

Did anyone else wonder what Matt was doing in Gary's house for what seemed like an eternity when he was bringing the bags in? and on that note, Yay less Matt screen time.

He was probably completing a rental application for one of Gary's rental house -- since in real time we know that Amber and Matt are being sued by their current landlord (and past).

Tyler is so over all these people and must regret leaving New Orleans.  When he left the house to pick up Butch, Catelynn was still in bed. Say what you will about Tyler, but picking up an addicted parent from jail for the umpteenth time after months of direct lies to your face has to be hard. Pull yourself out of bed, splash some water on you face and show your husband some support. The day ended with her high as fuck at the dining room table telling Tyler to pretty much enable "but don't enable" Butch.   She provided nearly the textbook description of enabling as to what Tyler should do for his father.

That birthday party was shameful.  Poor Bentley, I hope he had a real birthday party off camera.  What was with that non cake she made, it looked like a thin brownie with a candle on it.  Couldn't she bake a cake for him?  Was it the middle of the night when she sang happy birthday?  Half of them didn't sing and the others barely made an effort to bother.  I know we've discussed this before but what is really wrong with Ryan.  He looks 20 years older and is so vacant.  It looks like either brain damage or maybe he's on anti depressants that are making him loopy.  Does anyone have any idea?

And like he should listen to a word she says since she cant put down the fucking bong and deal with life. Bitch and Butch got Tyler all fucked up. He needs to get away from both of them since they both will not do anything to get themselves better. And yes he gets high but I don't think he does it all day every day every hour like Cate. But Cate saying shit about his dad is of no help since she can't put down the bong. Tyler needs to run and let those two deal with themselves. He has been too busy cheering them on that yes he has forgot about his own well being because he is too busy tiptoeing around a wife who lays around and does nothing and tiptoeing around his addict father fearing something will send him back to jail.

I admit that I did not watch this episode because I found the first one so boring I skipped through most of it.  Plus, it's just depressing. But reading the comments about Tyler, I thought I'd chip in.  Yes, he has two energy sucks in his life, but he's old enough and HAS ENOUGH MONEY to get himself out of that situation.  He can go to real therapy with qualified doctors.  He can break up with Cate, get some training/schooling and get a job where he can support himself and pay child support for his daughter.  He can create boundaries with his father.  I know creating boundaries with energy sucks is difficult, believe me.  But it can be done and he has the TM money to get the help he needs to learn how to create those boundaries.

Tyler looked dead inside while listening to Butch talk about relapsing. I don't like Tyler, but I do feel sorry for him in this situation. He's tried so hard to be there for his dad, financially and emotionally, and it always ends the same--with Butch making promises that he's never going to keep. It's time for Tyler to ease back his involvement in Butch's life. I know he doesn't want to turn his back on his dad, but he can't make Butch stay clean, and giving him money or a place to stay is only enabling him. Setting firm boundaries would not only protect Tyler, but also Nova, because she doesn't need to be around an addict grandfather (or an addict mother, either).

Maci, don't put cake batter on your daughter's pacifier, that's gross. And Mackenzie must have a thing for mothering grown men, because it seems that's her role in the relationship with Ryan. It's really pathetic that he can't be trusted to show up to places on time without his "girlfriend" escorting him.

I sincerely hope Farrah doesn't expect Simon to finally commit to her, because dude looks bored as fuck around her. He's clearly only showing up for the cameras and (I'm assuming) easy sex.

Matt doesn't like Mexican food? Add that to the reasons not to trust him.

Girl with that skin, you have zero room to talk about not aging well.

I actually think Maci was being sincere in that scene.  She obviously really likes McKenzie and clearly doesn't want Ryan back. She was nothing but complimentary towards her.  I don't blame her, with McKenzie around to chase after and practically breastfeed Ryan, everyone is happy because none of THEM have to do it anymore.  Plus, Bentley seems happy that his dad actually shows up once in awhile to things now, sometimes even on time!

I totally agree.  Butch is like a lot of my clients. We call it "serving a life sentence on the installment plan."  He's never going to stay out of jail for any significant period of time and Tyler knows it.  I really felt bad for him this episode.  He's surrounded by emotional (and fiscal) leeches and they're slowly sucking the life out of him.

I actually felt bad for Tyler. How many times has Butch promised to change but he never fails to disappoint. Just another reason why he and Cate should get out of that town in Michigan. Tyler is setting himself up to be Butch's parent forever, or at least until the money runs out.

Maci blah blah blah. Whatever. I really hope that wasn't Bintlee's real b-day party. It was kinda sad. I loled when Larry said that Ryan was a little slow. Ya think?

So Farrah has a new nanny and Sophia says she doesn't want and "old" nanny. How did that escalate  to a hate crime? And WTF was up with Farrah's friend's face? It was scarier than Farrah's.

I have nothing but repulsion for Amber, but I did laugh at her calling out Gary on his dad bod t-shirts. Plus it's late October. Dude, buy some big boy pants. Best moment was on the hayride was watching Gary scream at the scary stuff. Hilarious. Leah says we are rich and Amber shushes her. I wouldn't be surprised if she hears that at home. Amber says she has never been more than a size 12? Um, she looked huge in that poncho. And she has a lot of nerve dissing Gary for buying homes. He will come out of TM just fine financially. Amber will be left with nothing.

My best guess is opiates.  It would certainly explain his penchant for disappearing for hours on end and not responding to calls or texts.

That's a hell of a lot easier said than done.  Tyler has been with Cate since they were what?  Like 12?  They're physically and emotionally bonded in a way many of us probably can't even comprehend.  They're been through years of trauma together, basically helping each other survive through their mutually fucked up childhoods.  Plus, they're now married and share a child.  Tyler is so enamored with the idea of having a normal, middle class life I don't think he WANTS to leave Cate.  I agree he needs to get some real therapy (not Kinkos lady), but when you've lived your entire life with extreme trauma and have gone through the majority of it with another person who you're now bonded to through marriage and children, it's not quite as simple as you're making it out to be.

Yes I will agree  that he learned manipulation by watching Butch. However he has spent a lifetime practicing his bullshit on his #1 fan, Kim. She practically begs to be manipulated in every scene we see her in. Tyler is a grown up now and he's well aware of his behavior and has no intention of changing these habits because he has people that lap that shit up. He could try to change but he knows there is no payoff in doing so.

When I was deep into my addiction my  sweet, wonderful Dad who was desperate to help any way he could told me that whenever I feel the urge to use to call and talk to him. I couldn't make him understand that his standard answer when I would tell him that I wanted to use was "just don't do it". He meant well but that wasn't helpful at all. I was telling myself that 25 hours a day and it isn't helpful to a determined addict.

Catelynn is dragging him down and his father is a loser. Sorry, he just is. He will never be sober and will end up in jail or prison again. Tyler needs to be strong and do some tough love with him. Who the fuck is Amber to call out Gary on his clothing? It doesn't affect her. What is it with these bitches [Kail and Amber] who think they can slam their exes for what they choose to wear in the comfort of their own home? Kail and Amber have no room whatsoever on telling anyone about their clothing attire especially when one of them looks like a sea creature walking on land and the other looks like she is a walking circus tent.

The prison where Butch was looked like a college campus or something.  Tyler probably has his own parking sticker by now, or maybe even a space with his name on it! I'm not sure that being alone in the house is gonna keep Butch on the straight & narrow.  I wonder if he's still seeing that Nadine lady.  I think Cate referenced a recent relapse. What was up with Sophia running around in that pen full of horses?  That just seemed like a bad idea on a lot of levels.  And Farrah and friend drinking something steaming hot AND eating tortilla chips?  What was that about?  And that conversation made me lose brain cells just listening to it.

Tyler is just over everything.  While I get that he in entangled in that hot mess of a family dynamic in many ways,  he's SO ready to bolt.  HATE the preview where Cate is all, "So when do you think you want to have another kid?"  That's nice.  So mature and loving.  How hilarious if Tyler was like, "Um, never?"

Shout out to Mackenzie's giant scarf.  Geez girl.  The hell is up with that?

It's nice that Gary and Amber can get along for Leah's sake.   Greasy Matt couldn't care less about anything but the money train.  He doesn't care if Gary and Kristina do anything, say anything, or show up for anything.  I suspect Amber wants him to feel threatened by Gary but he doesn't give a rat's ass and it shows.

I was delighted beyond belief at Sophia's tantrum, any day now she'll be adding "OKAAAAAAY MOM" in Farrah's voice. But what was the pull-over-to-the-side-of-the-road thing about, and why was Farrah trying to drag Sophia out of the car? It looked like some random and not very safe spot, not a destination like home or a store. It looked like Farrah was going to dump Sophia on the side of the road.

Hence the cliché "There's no such thing as a free lunch."  He thought he'd hit the jackpot when Cate was chosen to continue her reality show presence on Teen Mom.  But even with the houses, cars, trips, and MTV wedding, it has been anything but smooth sailing.  He may have been better off leaving town and learning some kind of trade.  Butch and Cate are going to suck the life out of him, and he will grow old in the same little town he grew up in.
