1. That hair isn't a 60s throwback buttcutt. That's The Rachel.
2. I did think Shea's dress was less successful but the black trim was accurate to the original.
3. Hit the nail on the head. Very Roxxxy Andrews style-wise.
4. I don't feel that bad for Tyler. He's emotionally abusive and manipulative to Cate, and for all that she's not working on her mental health she is the primary breadwinner in that family. He got a raw deal with Butch and that sucks, but Ty's old enough and had enough quasi-therapy to set boundaries and handle it better. It's scary to think they want to foster kids when they're still trying to get themselves together (especially with the looming specter of the end of the TM gravy train). I can't lie, I love that Farrah had to warn Sophia that they don't do hate crimes. Although these days, that's not as funny as it used to be :S.
5. #1. Never start a land war in Asia. #2. Never trust a Sicilian when death is on the line. #3. Never trust anyone online who says they are a model. Or a musician.
6. I think the biggest issue facing ANTM is that the industry has changed a lot in recent years, making it tough to keep this show relevant. Print magazines are nearly dead. The line between model and celebrity is so blurry that girls with tons of Instagram followers but no ability to walk stomp the catwalks and mug on the arms of designers. Tatiana's business both got her on the show but possibly kept her from winning because of the conflict of interest. Social Media is crucial for success but it's so ephemeral it seems near impossible to maintain any longevity through it. Plus, social media is about video, not photos... it's a different talent. I didn't warm to this cycle's judges because of the lousy tagline (brand, business, boss...really???), the lack of training for the women, and how fake Rita and Ashley come off (it was obvious this was as much about their own exposure as the theoretical mentoring they were supposed to give). But is Tyra, who comes from the old school of modeling and who definitely went on an extended ego trip for the latter seasons, going to fix things? I love Tyra and I prefer her type of drama to the fake a$$ drama of the contestants. But if the show is going to survive, it would be from moving forward and not backward.
7. I think Kevin should be fulfilling the role the writers jacked up with the love quadrangle mess: he's the Jan Brady. The parent are so focused on fixing Kate and Randall that Kevin's left to drown in the community pool. How does he compensate? He's an attention whore. He needs the attention from fans, women... because he feels deprived from childhood. If they can't focus Kevin as motivated by the need for attention, it doesn't work. That, and these unrealistic stories like Kevin bowing out of his opening night or Kate without a job affording an expensive camp.
8. Fourth. There was Gunnar's ex who abandoned her son with him and claimed he was the father (turns out the dad was Gunnar's dead brother). Sheesh, this show is so extra. On one hand, Rachel Bilson's about to join the cast...so we may not have so much of the Maddie Show. On the other hand, Rachel Bilson deserves to join a show in better shape.
9. It struck me as they were showing the photos through the season that the photo shoots were weak. The only "concept" photo was the grocery store, and that was weak sauce. I get that modeling today has changed and there's a social media component (which felt lacking this season, maybe because they couldn't use the actual sites?), but there's still modeling involved. The season was OK but they need to tweak it and bring back more model challenges (the go-sees were definitely missed).
10. Mmm-kaaay. I get that Tatiana was the most knowledgeable about the industry, but her show edit didn't give her much of a personality. She rarely excelled in the competition. Coryanne was very inconsistent, but she did have a good story. But does Rimmel care about her story when they shoot a commercial??? And Courtney gets called out for RBF, but then at panel she has a big grin on her face. She's been psyched out for the last couple of episodes...All they had to do is tell "who farted?" and she'd've loosened up. It's India's competition to lose. And Tyra next week!!!
11. Did Rayna hire Crappy A$$ Security Firm from the Yellow Pages? Even Whitney (RIP) got a panic button in The Bodyguard, to say nothing of the security dude doing a quick check of the office (and not the utility closet???) and not stationing himself in the frigging office despite what HRH Rayna says about leaving??? Or why was she even in a dark office after hours??? Ugh so laaaaaaame!!!!
12. Feud is life!!!!!! (But not for autocorrect, who changed "feud" to "died")
13. Toby....Ugh. I'm both surprised John was so cool about Regina and Luca, and a wee bit [but not much] surprised Kathryn was less cool (didn't she come close to a fling with the younger lawyer back in season one?). Bay...Ugh! I hate when shows try to make teen romances epic. Move on from Emmett already.
14. I think Jo and Vee know that Kail pissed at Vee is safer than Kail pissed at Jo. He didn't want to set off Kailyn's hairtrigger temper (especially when she's under the pressure of her divorce) and go back to difficulty in seeing his kid. Vee was pointing out that he wouldn't have such an issue if he had more parental rights. Vee is right to push on her and Vivi's time being at the whim of Kailyn. But... let's face it, they're really at the mercy of the MTV money. Jo and Vee would have a lot more power if they could lean on a stricter schedule because they had work hours.
15. Paige's cut was ridiculous. She did try to go nuts as Britney then Drew cuts her off (unlike Tash with Tina Turner). Plus, she looked more like Kylie Minogue. I think I have to stop watching... they all seem like limp dolls, the challenges are snoozefests and repetitive, the storylines are too contrived, and Rita Ora grates on the nerves.
