Yeah, my first thought was "Wow" they are either on a flood plain or a massive freak rain storm had just occurred.

I checked and they were on a  flood plane.

Why is Dwreck wearing headphones while driving?  That’s illegal in my state, and I would imagine illegal in Arkansas too. Not that he knows the law...

When I first read this I thought, 'OMG, Derick is running drugs and wants to steal some pot!' then I realized he was talking about his 'stache which he definitely should not keep.

And I thought he meant some Grubhub money.

It's not illegal to text and drive in Texas or at least it wasn't because one of their governors thought people should make their own decisions. I have no idea what the laws in AR or my home state, but I'm surprised it's illegal to wear headphones and drive in any states. As long as your hands on the wheel and your eyes on the road; is it really that important?

It's illegal in my state also, you cannot hear emergency vehicles if you have earbuds in. And most people crank the music up much higher than they should. Buy stock in hearing aids, its the future.

Texting and driving laws may be determined locally in Texas. It's illegal in parts of the Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex.

Heh. Way to misspell "stache," Derelict.

I googled it

It looks like it is not illegal in Arkansas. I have lived in states where it is illegal and it is commonly ticketed. I thought it would be more prevalent in most states, but I guess not. I retract my snarking, however it does seem like a safety issue to me.

That said, I’m pretty sure binding, torturing, and killing people is illegal in every state, so that  mustache has to go.

It is illegal in California to have both ears covered.

If it’s an issue about hearing emergency vehicles, what about deaf people? They drive.

Presumably, deaf people will be less distracted by silence then by noise blaring in their ears, like a hearing person would.

It's all about volume, not the type of audio device. When I was a stupid teen, I'd crank the car stereo to the point where I couldn't hear a car horn or siren. Now I am constantly listening to podcasts while driving, but I turn my device to a reasonable volume and loosen my earbuds a bit to ensure I'm not fully blocking out outside noises. Not a safety issue at all.

I remember a time sitting at a red light, hopping and bopping to the radio. Volume had nothing to do with this because the cop that I didn't notice, only had his lights flashing, no siren. Fortunately when I finally noticed him, he just laughed and drove past me as I pulled over.

Most states have no laws about earbuds, including Arkansas, some only allow one earbud and some don't allow certain professions to use them, including bus drivers.

I'm curious what Derick uses them for while driving.

Even if it is not illegal, it shows a lack of basic common sense.  Which actually explains a lot about Derick's life, IMO.

Some of the music I listen to sounds like sirens, so I have sometimes freaked myself out by thinking there were sirens approaching. But they weren't. LOLOL

I didn't even realize people drove while wearing earbuds.

If they only drove with ear buds in, I once passed an old man who was driving in the passing lane, he had his big ole bible propped on the steering wheel reading while driving. Not driving well as you can imagine. I have never seen anything like that.

I'm guessing they're taking pity on Jill. I can't imagine what I would have thought of her, if she moved in next to me when I was her age, raising kids.

I’m sure Jill thinks that fresh basil tastes like poison.  Where’s the salt?

Same with Mr. Sumi. And if I said "hashtag hot hubby" I'd probably be committed. 😁
