The Duggars all seem to want Pro-Choice folks to watch this movie. I can just imagine the conversations among them. They must feel the propaganda film isn't doing any good unless the 'other side' sees it. I wonder if they realize the majority of Pro-Choicers have never terminated a pregnancy.

I always wonder - don't they realize that their entire family was built on opposing abortion? John isn't so much a person as he is a political statement by his parents. If it's ever made totally illegal in the US they'd instantly lose their hook, and, well, fame. There be a lot more large families. They need this (propaganda fantasy) to continue. After all, isn't Derick going to be a voice for the voiceless as a lawyer? Maybe he can stick up for the poor machine guns, or something, next.

I think the fundies and certainly the Duggar/Dillards are already moving towards opposition to (hatred of) lgbtq in case abortion becomes completely illegal.  There will always be pathways to try to force their viewpoint on others.

True, but even that hill won't last much longer, and it's a lot of preaching to the choir there. Ironically LGBTQ acceptance would increase church attendance in many places. Kind of hard to sell as a lifestyle, as well.

No, because I already have done a little research on the protagonist and it is very clear that her 'true life story' is, in fact, completely fabricated.  And, despite the fact that she says she couldn't find a job after leaving PP, she has made a small fortune selling books and preaching to the fundie choir and is now far better compensated than she ever could have been working in the office at any medical clinic.  What the Duggars find 'impactful', I find calculated and cynical.

With my second baby, I started to hemorrhage after she and the placenta came out.  It was terrifying (and I'm sure incredibly bloody, but they thankfully didn't let me see).  I felt like I was going to pass out but was terrified I was going to die. NICU and pediatric respiratory had come for the baby because she was a meconimum (sp?) baby.  I remember looking at NICU getting her, being terrified as I heard the hospital staff attending to my bleeding & the baby, fighting the feeling of passing out, and trying to get a good "look" at my baby as NICU worked on her to try "remember" her in case I didn't make it, as well as thinking about my other child. It was awful.  I cannot have anymore kids (don't have the parts anymore, as most of you know), but even if I could, there's no way I'd put my body through the awful things pregnancy/birth did to me or chance a scare like that again when I have two children already to stay healthy for (and to have some modicum of bladder control).  I wouldn't want to chance having that kind of scare like I did when I was hemorrhaging and NICU was there for my baby again EVER.  If I had gotten pregnant after that, I'd laugh in anyone's face who tried to show me via film that abortion was scary or bloody/gross. I'd done bloody/gross before in birth.  (I think something like 60% of women who seek abortions already have kids, so I'm sure that wouldn't scare them away from the procedure either. These Fundies are just so dumb about how they go about being "pro-life."  God forbid they work for programs to help women/families afford/care for children or maternity leave, etc to encourage rather than scare with blood and the devil.)

And that's not even to mention the other fun things pregnancy and childbirth did to my body that I won't list here besides some awful pelvic floor damage.    Maybe I should make a film about the gory, awful, gross stuff that happens in pregnancy, childbirth, and after....because I'm pretty sure carrying a pregnancy to term and having a baby is way more gory and dangerous than a RU-486 induced abortion. (These people really need to Google the down-right terrifying stats about maternal death rates in the United States!) Maybe that would help counteract the "having-babies-is-everything-and-the-main-part-of-being-a-woman-and-you-don't-even-need-a-real-medical-professional" nonsense these Fundies constantly promote.  After all I (and other women who opened up to me after pregnancies/births have shared they also) went through with the pregnancies and births of my babies, I am offended that they have the audacity to promote a film that shows how "gory" abortion is when the cult of motherhood ignores the way bloodier and more dangerous physical effects on births on women's bodies and they want to force women to go through with pregnancies and births that they don't want.  Maybe they could work to lobby for lawmakers who would try to address our country's position as #1 in maternal death rates in the developed world (& Arkansas has the 3rd highest maternal death rate in the US).  If you care about babies and women (Ha, we know it's fetuses only that they care about), maybe turn your attention to the women who die in your own state as a consequences of giving birth to those babies you claim to care so much about! Show you care about those poor babies' mothers.

Sorry for the rant.  BTW, Hey Derick, did you know a baby can bruise (or even break) his mother's rib when he's still in her uterus? Yep, my son bruised mine by kicking me in the ribs when I was 9 months pregnant!  Neat little known fact!  It hurt like heck but that's totally not even close to one of the most weird/painful/gross things I experienced with pregnancies/giving birth.  Hey Derick and other Fundie Men Folk- Talk to me about promoting a film that shows how bloody/gross abortion is after you've carried a baby to term (with all the neat/gross/weird stuff it does to your body), given birth, passed lochia for weeks after, dealt with pre-natal depression/psychosis, dealth with post-partum depression/psychosis, had your nether-bits torn and sheared, cried in fear of that first post-birth bowel movement, worried how you were going to pay bills without paid maternity leave, worried how you weren't going to lose your job since with no mandatory maternity leave and not enough FMLA left, etc.  I'm offended by this film on so many levels and anyone who promotes it. (And Jill, I'm pretty darn sure the average abortion is less involved, painful, etc than last-minute emergency c-sections, if we're comparing gore, blood, etc). I can't with these people. I hope to hell that they didn't watch/discuss this with Lauren since she miscarried and the abortion pill basically causes the same stuff. Ugh. These people!

I think hatred of lgbtq will be a harder hill to mount than abortion. I know a lot of anti-abortion Christians who have no problems with the lgbtq community. These days most families have a beloved family member who is out and they realize that love is love and people are people. Abortion is an easy one to oppose because "Murdering Babies!" I think if it became illegal, hard-core Christians would move on to further demonize birth control, women's health clinics, and illegitimate births.

All it did was support their already poorly informed and narrow viewpoint.  What if someone made a film where a woman had a serious health problem and  was counseled that terminating the pregnancy would be the best option but she declined and both she and the baby died horrible deaths?  Or a film about a woman who discovers that her child has devastating, non-treatable birth defects and decides to continue the pregnancy and we get to see her going to work, grocery shopping, even interacting with friends and family where she has to constantly deal with people asking when she is due, what she is having, what names she's chosen.  Or face telling her friends to cancel the baby shower.  Then, let's see her go through a difficult labor and delivery and have the child be born, only to die a day or two later.  No matter how anyone feels about abortion, it is the height of arrogance to tell people facing devastating choices that they have no right to make their own decisions.

My mother had a very rough pregnancy when I was five or six. She had to be rushed to Great Falls by ambulance with a nurse. She almost died and my baby brother was still born. He would have been severely disabled, in constant pain 24/7, numerous health issues, and would died within a few months. My parents were not the best parents in the world, but I know they would not have wanted their son to suffer, and to see what it would have done to their other children. I am pro-choice especially in situations like this. I never got to know my brother, but I feel he is with me, and we have a special bond. Plus the fact, he is my guardian angel who has help me get through some hard times in my life.

The Duggars have no rights to tell a woman what to do. After what Smugs did to his own sisters more than once. He violated his sisters' rights for safety and respect in relations to their own bodies, and Ma and Pa Stupid did nothing to protect their own daughters, so they have no rights to tell others how to live.

I'd pay to see them watch the last  episode of Call the Midwife, in which a back alley abortion went all wrong. The young woman ended up having a hysterectomy. Is that what they really want?
