I would love to know what Boob and Mullet are telling the Lost Girls and Howlers still living at home about why Smuggar is in trouble.  I’m sure it’s very warped and all about satan leading Josh astray but they’ll all pray he finds Jesus again.  Probably nothing about keeping themselves safe, how as parents they will do anything to protect them (we all know that doesn’t happen), that they will help them get counseling if they want it, etc.  Those two are just plain horrible parents.

Yes, sadly foster care isn't perfect either. There are kids who die and are abused in foster care. Statistics show foster kids are 10x more likely to be abused. 

 

I'm a foster and adoptive parent. It takes a lot to remove a kid. In recent years laws were passed to keep kids with their families. So even if Anna didn't have the kids, CPS will look for extended family. I mean Jimchelle got Tyler. The M kids would be placed with Jimchelle or Anna's family. So they're stuck. I really hope Josh gets the maximum. I hope therapy real therapy is given to the kids. 

 

 

They probably wouldn’t remove the kids, but if they did, they would undoubtedly go to live with family members , not unknown foster parents.

I just went a sleuthing, and it looks like they might actually live in Goshen, which is east of Fayetteville. I have to drive through there to go to Fayetteville myself, and it's a weird place. There's not much of a town, but there are shitloads of the world's ugliest McMansions. The people who work at the gas station are nice. LOL

The city limits also stretch waaaaaay past what any sane person would consider the city limits. Like, you see the town signs for Goshen and then drive quite a ways before you see the actual town on both sides. This never fails to amuse me and my grandfather when I drive him to doctor's appointments in Fayetteville. One of us blurts out "It's the Land of Goshen!" and then we both start cackling every time. 

The TLDR is I can't see Josh being able to walk to town very conveniently if they are where I think they are.

If they're in Goshen, I can't think of a chain restaurant there. I mean, there might be one, but I have never actually noticed it driving through. There's a Dollar General! And maybe a couple of locally owned restaurants.

At first, I thought it was the person who owns Josiah's house, but it wasn't, and the names aren't even close. Complete speculation on my part. Mrs. Reber does appear to be Asian, and I’m wondering if perhaps she is Filipina? Unless Maria is an Anglicization of an Asian name, a Latin name like Maria suggests a Philippine heritage. The Philippine culture is very community and hospitality oriented. For Mrs. Raber to have expressed reluctance in court, she must so deeply not wish this burden to be thrust upon her.

Again, mere speculation on my part and irrelevant anyway, since she is stuck having to accept this role regardless of her heritage.
 

I feel terrible for her, having her own life in upheaval now due to Josh’s actions. Everyone pays the price but him.

Just looking at Goshen on Google Maps, it seems like a lovely place with some scenic sites and plenty of churches. There’s a Walmart, McDonald’s, and Subway in town, but the nearest Chick-fil-a is 13 miles west in Fayetteville. 

I’ve seen conflicting reports on whether Josh is free to leave or be alone without the chaperone people. It may be that he can come and go without them, as long as he doesn’t violate the other terms of where he can be. I wonder if a fast food drive-thru would count. Maybe not, since they often hire minors depending on the legal working age in the state. Even if he steered clear of the ball pit, no 16-year-old girl should have to tell him “my pleasure” when he grabs the vanilla shake and two combo meals from her. (You just know he’s the vanilla shake type.)

If Mrs. Reber is Filipina, it's even more horrible given the nature of the particular file Josh downloaded. When the guy who created the imagery was prosecuted, it was a huge case over there. Wow. Her husband is a total asshole for allowing this.

I’m looking at Arkansas. Those sites showed up in the highlighted area on the map that usually indicates a town when I searched “Goshen AR”. Maybe Google got it mixed up? IDK, just reporting what I found in about 2 minutes of research.

Is that the case that I read on another website, which is referred to for the child’s privacy as the “D.D tape?” I could only bring myself to skim through it as it was too awful, but I did see that there was one main guy who created or distributed that content and was arrested. I didn’t pay close enough attention so I didn’t realize any of this emanated from the Philippines. No matter where or from whom it originated, it was really too much for me to read carefully. I just don’t want to believe this stuff exists on earth.

Amen. It's mind blowing how many people, particularly women, have been thrown to the wolves for the sake of that festering canker sore. First time around, Josh's victimized sisters went on national tv to defend him. Second time, Anna had to go to bat. Third time, a clearly unprepared and nervous housewife is forced to play nanny. When is this loser going to face any consequences? It makes my blood boil.

I realize its borderline nuts to be this invested in Josh's case but I find myself here anyway. Since I've followed the show since day 1, to me the Duggars are well known. I was actually surprised there were not more reporters at his jail release. That's when I Check myself and say, "the majority of people actually don't care" - lol.

Will TMZ be parked outside the Reber's (sp)? Will we know if Josh is going to "work" or if Anna is visiting? Ugh.. again ...borderline obsession here.

I hope so b/c I read a mild description of the DD video and Josh should be put in solitary confinement and given a bowl of slop 3 times a day for the rest of his life. Anna should have to do that and if she still thinks it's okay for her kids to be around that scumbag her children should be removed from her custody, #7 at birth, and she should be forcibly sterilized.

I'm not sure they're well known. Most of the folks I know don't know who they are. IMO, its different from say, the name recognition of the Kardashians. I've never watched a show, but I know who the Kardashians are. I think the Duggars were more well known back when Michelle was having babies and they were appearing on the Today show. Like the Gosselins, no matter how hard Kate tries to stay relevant, these families fade away. I also think the Duggars are polarizing, so some who disagree with their lifestyle won't watch them or hate watch them.

As far as the tabloids, they may poke around trying to spot Josh or catch him screwing up, but I doubt it because the AR isn't really convenient and I'm not sure they'd get enough clicks between now and the trial. During the trial they might poke around more.

The DD video was infamous at the time and really hard to access. The fucko who made it charged 10 grand to watch it on a pay per view type thing and a lot of people who did got caught and received decades in prison. If Josh was savvy enough to find that (which i assume is hard still) then God knows what else he's been watching. His idiot wife is probably equating his charge with standard 'woman covered in jizz from a threesome' porn and those kids have no chance if that's the family's attitude.

I've avoided the details about what Smuggar had, but I know this incredibly tragic and horrifying story. It's the Australian guy who committed years of unspeakable crimes in the Philippines, right? I saw an Australian news program on it and on him, including the search for the bodies. And that was a huge story all over the west side of the Pacific rim, I think, so it's hard to imagine Mrs. Reber hasn't heard at least hints of it, if she is Filipina. And I expect she is. 

I despised her "patriarch" husband before, because of what became clear from her testimony in court. And, to be fair, I expect he probably doesn't know anything about that case or that some of the images from it were among Josh's bundle. So he's probably not being consciously callous in that way. But this is awful, nevertheless. I can only hope that Mrs. Reber pays little enough attention to Josh's court case to avoid finding out that the stuff he looked at included images from this horror-almost-beyond-comprehension. 

Now I get what the one fed's comment about the stuff meant, about 'one of the five worst" things ever. Not surprising that Josh's cache included some of that material, since I think it's one of the biggest individual "libraries" of child-sex-abuse horror in the world and has been distributed around the world millions of times for years now.

A thousand times this.  I would like to add to this list of watchers Boob, Mullet, and the TLC executives who are hoping this blows over.  Put them in a dark room, their eyes held open Clockwork Orange style, and let them see what dear precious first born prince has been watching.

TLC is counting on a ratings boost from all of this. People will tune in to see how everyone acts, who is in the show etc. I haven't watched the show except for the Megyn interview and a few minutes here and there. I have done some reading about Gothard and their family as well as this board. I find their entire religion to be one very sick cult and the ratings is what keeps them on TV. If you are truly disgusted by Josh and the family you shouldn't watch the show anymore, no more ratings.

Chances are she knew nothing. Josh knew. JB knew almost certainly. Beyond that, it's highly doubtful that anyone knew any specifics. And Anna doesn't necessarily choose to get pregnant either. I also doubt she knows the specifics now.
