Jessa, Ben and Their Brood: Making a (Diaper) Mountain out of a Mold House

Message added by Scarlett45

The Duggars post about politics on social media frequently, but these social media posts are not an invitation to discuss politics here in this forum. This rule extends to Duggar adjacent families, friends, associates etc. Such discussions are a violation of the Politics Policy.

I understand with recent current events there may be a desire to discuss certain social media postings of those in the Duggar realm as they relate to politics- this is not the place for those discussions. If you believe someone has violated forum rules, report them, do not respond or engage.

You get as much effort as you put in and the Duggars were taught half assing it is the way to go (see: Smuggar and FRC). That being said, she clearly wouldn't be hanging on Lolli and Pops for dear life if money isn't the be all and end all.

They are a family of half assers.

I think Jessa would be hanging with her parents regardless of their income or influence on Jessa's & Ben's income. I think Jessa likes her parents and I think she likes the ease of having her kids occupied by their cousins and watched by their aunts.

Bringing this over from Jill's thread:

Add my voice to the chorus, Jesse is a bitch because she is smugly reliving that story in front of a crying adult Jana.  I don’t really care about her age appropriate behavior, that’s fine. Most people would be ashamed of how we behaved as a five-year-old and maybe try to make things right with their sister. Instead, all we have is a mean girl, pushing 30, who seems to be a cold fish incapable of empathy.

I hope she gets stuck working the jewelry section of Walmart for a good 5 to 10 years after the show is over.

I don't think that's true, and certainly wouldn't be healthy if it were. I'm not saying Jana was wrong for still being upset, not at all, but it makes total sense to me that Jessa was just standing there listening to the story, confused about all the tears over something that she likely barely remembers. I mean, it's the Duggars. They all experienced much worse at the hand of their parents, but she's sobbing over something that happened almost 20 years ago? From the perspective of someone who's not at all aware of what emotional baggage means, that had to be confusing as hell.

If my older sister started sobbing over me cutting her dolls hair when I was 3, I'd look at her funny, too. And because I have awareness of such things, I'd gently recommend intensive therapy.

Jessa can have a steely attitude when it comes to those around her.  Maybe it's what she had to do from a young age to be able to deal with everything that occurred.  I think some people look at the situation as Jana is still upset (whether she should be or not is not the issue), and Jessa doesn't give a hoot because she either doesn't care or she just doesn't get why Jana is upset.  For some people, when they're upset, all they might be looking for is a kind word, gentle hug, or just a hand on their shoulder.  Now, when it comes to these people, they probably don't get much of that unless you're named Josh or Josie.  I don't think Jessa was ever taught how to handle a sibling being upset and comforting them.  See also her reaction to Jill during the Megyn Kelly interview.  That was just cold on her part.

There's no excuse for Ivy not having a swim diaper on, especially, as you say, all three kids were not only in the pool, they were eating.  Heck, when I was a kid, my mom wouldn't let us eat anything, not even popsicles, in the pool to keep crumbs and other icky stuff out of the water.

If it helps, a "swim diaper" only serves to contain poop when baby is in the water. They have no absorption power whatsoever. After all, your kid is in water, which would saturate an absorbent diaper on contact. Kids are expected to wear them, but all they do is keep that #2 from escaping.

Well, little kids are mostly gross anyway. They’re just being kids in a tiny inflatable pool - like kids all over the world.
I actually thought it was pretty smart to have them eat the very messy watermelon In the pool so they wouldn’t get grossly sticky.

it’s a tiny pool/it can be dumped out, cleaned and refilled in a wink.

I prefer watermelon never enter my house. Regardless of how careful the handler, my kitchen floor always ends up sticky. Keep that shit outside!

They're talking about adoption. Haven't they done this before? This is just PR for the new season.

This will be the third time they’ve brought it up. Don’t you need verifiable income to adopt? Pretty sure the child has to have their own bedroom, too. There’s so bad at this PR baiting.

Yep, Jessa always plays the adoption card whenever she needs publicity.

Wow, Ivy was pretty articulate and on-tune for only being a year old. Poor kid, she obviously doesn't like being filmed and she's got years of it to go. When TLC finally pulls the plug on them, Jessa will fill that vacuum with YouTube posts.

She did a great job. I have 18 month grandsons that aren't near that level of speech & I don't think I've ever heard them try and sing.

That kind of tonal memory at that age is really remarkable. They need to encourage some kind of music when she’s old enough.
